Love Comes First Chapter 44
AO3
https://archiveofourown.org/works/57780913
“Today, you are one!” She holds up one finger to the excited babies. They, feeding off her energy, bounce up and down in their cots.

Jamie, watching from the doorway, grins. Isaiah David and Hanna Rebecca see him and start to cry out, “DaDa!”

Claire turns and smiles at him. He walks all the way in, joining her.

“Amazing that you are one, guys.” He says to them.

“They were just born,” she says to him, “or so it seems.”

He chuckles. “It seems James was.”

“True,” she sighs out, “it goes by way to fast.”

“Aye, so let’s soak in this day,” he lifts up the babies, together, “right guys. It’s your birthday.”

They squeal. Nappies are changed and they are dressed in their birthday outfits.

Downstairs, their older siblings are blowing balloons up and hanging banners.

“I want to tell them.” Sophia whispers to James. They are placing the tablecloth on.

“I know. But baby, it is Isaiah and Hanna’s day.”

“Your right. I am just so excited.”

“Me too baby.” He hugs her.

Marsali sits, way to pregnant, to help much. Fergus stands behind her, helping Faith hang the happy birthday banner. Sitting beside her, Leah rests her hand on her bump, where Joel moves around.

“Hey Joel. Are you excited about the twins birthday too?”

Marsali smiles at her.

“He is.”

“Cool.”

The twins sit in the middle of the wrapping paper after opening all their presents, with the help of Leah and Peter.

They throw it around more interested in them, temporarily at least, then their new toys.

Their family watch them with joy. More pictures are taken. They already have pictures of them smashing their cakes and opening the presents.

“Oh.” Marsali’s utterance gets Tabby’s  attention. She sits closest to her.

“Are you okay?”

“I think I am in labor.” She calmly says. Fergus hears her, turning quickly and hurrying over to her side.

“Baby?”

“I have been having pains for awhile. I just didn’t want to take attention away from the babies.”

Claire, noticing the stress coming from the couple and her daughter, comes over.

“Claire, Marsali is having contractions.” Fergus’ voice gets high. Claire is calmer.

“How far apart are the contractions?”

“Around six minutes.”

“Okay, let’s get the doctor called.” Fergus fumbles for his phone.

Faith comes over and kneels beside her. Placing her hand over her bump, she begins to pray for both the parents and Joel.

Over the last three months, she has focused more on her faith. That and her work in the hospital has matured her, to her parents joy.

Tabby and Peter take care of the twins while Jamie and Claire see to the couple, helping her through the next few contractions while the doctor instructs them.

They are to head directly to hospital. Fergus already has the hospital bag in the boot of the car and the car seat in the back.

When the excitement dies down, Sophia and James share a look. He nods.

“Mama and da, we are pregnant.” She announces.

It is a very memorable first birthday.

Wednesday 100: First Day
“Smile, lovey!”
Claire snapped a photo of their daughter — red curls turning golden in the sun, her little face beaming — and then took her hand as they walked into the school, she and Jamie with Faith between them.
“Maybe we should hold her back a year,” she murmured futilely as they watched Faith follow her teacher to the classroom.
“We agreed, she was ready…”
“Her backpack is bigger than she is.” And too broad for her tiny frame — one strap kept sliding off Faith’s shoulder. She caught Jamie’s look as he noticed.
“Damn it, Fraser, if you cry, I’ll cry.”

Coming soon!
Guilty as Sin?
Jamie and Claire Fraser are having marriage problems. Thankfully, Dr. Grey is there to help.
This messy, slutty little modern AU is full of strange crushes, bad 80s dance remixes, and not one ounce of self control anywhere in sight.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers (except me because obvs I have done it). Spread the self-love ❤ (only if you want to, of course)
Anna, the fact that you gave me another chance to talk about my own writing, mwah!
Here's All the Melting Thrill (And Here's the Kindling Fire) (Outlander, Jamie/Claire) This is basically a modern retelling of OL S1. Still super proud of both the writing in here and how I transmuted the storylines while still making it my own. Also the ending is very cozy!
Muscle Memory (Outlander, Jamie/Claire) Amnesia AU meets kidfic, with plenty of angst and love. I feel like I worked especially hard to make sure this one came out well and the results are really strong in terms of character, plot, and prose. Sometimes a bummer, but still strong!
Days' Break (Outlander, Jamie/Claire) This piece slots into the moments we didn't see during 6x06 and I like that it doesn't step on what's in the episode but enhances it and explains some of the choices a bit.
Measure and Man (Outlander, Fergus gen) I think this did a good job of zeroing in on both Fergus's mindset in this particular episode and the background that got him there. I especially think the little paragraph regarding his feeling of not being enough for Jamie since he isn't his biological child touches on something that isn't dealt with much in canon.
All the Ways Home (Outlander, Jamie/Claire, Fraser family) This fic involved a few writing risks - including William as a main character, writing from multiple different perspectives, challenging myself to write about sexual assault in a way that was careful and non-gratuitous - and even if some bits are a bit clunky I'm overall happy with how they all paid off. I was rereading it recently and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it!

Hello again ❤️
Ok so I didn't abandon the idea of writing a new jamie/claire fic and here's what's done so far:
1) came up with the title (it's a secret for now, but I can give a hint - it's a Taylor Swift song again 😂) Groundbreaking. but seriously I don't know what I'd do without her. Eternal inspiration for me.
2) made a cover art - it's gorgeous, used AI to make it, cause why not.
3) decided on the amount of chapters - there will be 14 and an epilogue. Yeah, not as many as my previous story which had 35 chapters 🫨
4) It's gonna be modern AU with my favorite trope included. I wonder if anyone could guess which one it is 😈
I'm SO excited.
I'm constantly receiving comments on my previous fic Illicit Affairs, and people keep asking for more from me since the day I finished it.. which was 2.5 years ago.
So yeah guys, the wait is over 😀

Time Comes in Roses 🌹
Summary: Soon-to-be doctor Claire Beauchamp recently moved to Edinburgh to get away from a life in London that nearly broke her. Her down the hall neighbor, Jamie Fraser, dreams of owning his own bookshop and has some of his own wounds to heal.
We’ve got a meet cute, lots of flirting, a true friendship that grows into more. Plus a good amount of learning how to love and trust - both ourselves and others - and a lot of fluff and snuggling along the way.
Tags: Modern AU, OMG it’s so fluffy, Adso is the secret main character, slow burn, communication is sexy
Notes: This my only posted fic so far! It is the first long, non-academic writing thing I’ve ever committed myself to and I’m learning a lot as I go. It’s super not perfect but also is teaching me how to keep going and be patient with myself.

Chocolate, churros, scarves, and princesses
A modern au one-shot of Jamie and Claire
“Claire, mo ghraidh, mo Sorcha, I love ye so verra much-” Jamie gulped, the bob of his throat catching Claire’s eyes. “Will ye-”
The yes was on the tip of her tongue. And she was hoping more things would be on the tip of her tongue after an enthusiastic yes and vigorous round of celebration in their flat.
The light of the candle flickered in his blue eyes, darkened by the ambient lighting of the restaurant. His hand reached to hold hers, unsatisfied with just holding the one. She hadn’t felt a hard imprint in his pants or his suit jacket when they were pressed up against one another earlier, well other than the one she was intimately familiar with for almost two years now. But there was something about tonight. It was their first anniversary. Well, officially. Her cheeks flushed the entire day with thoughts of their more than adequate remembrance of it that morning. Being almost twenty minutes late to her shift was well worth it. There was a ring somewhere. She was sure of it.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love❤
Thanks @flyinghome-againstthewind for the ask!!
My 5 fave fics that I wrote.
You know I’m a big supporter of self love 😏.
I have to say O Night Divine would have been on this list, but I don’t think of it as a fic anymore because it’s so much more. Because of that, my 5 faves are pretty easy to come up with. Here we goooooo….
5. The Silver of Moonlight from the Sun, Moon, and Truth series
This story was so natural to write. The series might be some of the sexiest stuff I’ve written (for whatever that’s worth). The main reason it’s such a fave for me is because multiple people shared with me how it helped them open their minds about their sexuality and accept proudly who they are. Fucking incredible.
4. A Thousand Ships from the Tales of James Fraser series
I sat with this idea for 6 months before I started writing it. I laughed myself to tears coming up with the idea, and I laughed typing every fucking word. If I’ve done anything brilliant in my life, it execute this concept.
3. Paved With Yellow Stones
I can’t begin to describe the effort that went into this story. The planning of every minute detail. The intricate plot that could not be deviated from once it was started. It was not easy, and it took a few years of learning to plan and execute complex plot to write something like this. So, yeah, I’m proud of this baby.
2. Like Petals Falling
This story was meant to be a quick and simple palate cleanser after writing a few dark, heavy plots in other fics. How did it turn into something so deeply personal? Well, THE POETRY. Poetry is, at its essence, DEEP and MEANINGFUL. I’ve poured so much of myself into this story in a way I had never done so with any fic before. 🥹
1. Journey of a Thousand Kisses and the 1000 Kisses series.
The intention with this story was to combine my favorite things: obsessively in love Frasers, fucking in the Highlands like rabbits, and building a perfect, happy life. I wanted to write a joyful story that did not require a ton of devastation as the main point of the plot. That’s not an easy feat as a writer. It’s beat into our heads that conflict is vital to good storytelling, and I was intentionally removing so much of that conflict, focusing more on the dynamic between them and resolving a mystery that the readers didn’t even know existed until 6/7 of the way through the story! I wanted people to think it was pure fluff, but then be blindsided by so much more. Then I wanted to do it again with 6 more stories in this universe. I love this series the most, and I love its beginning more than anything.
Do you agree with this list? Do you have another thoughts? I’d love to hear them. 🥰

Natural Remedies Chapter 29
AO3
“All is going well?” He asks her. They sit in his living room. The children, Julia in a bouncing seat with William sitting across from her.

“It is. He opened up to Julia Frances,” the baby looks to her at hearing her name. She smiles at her before continuing, “and I overheard. It seems that Henry bullied him during their childhood, badly. Enough that he had to distance himself from him and therefore myself.”

“That would explain it,” he nods to himself, “How do you feel about hearing this about your father?”

She sighs. “It was tough. I knew he was a horrible husband and a half way decent father. To hear he was such a terror to his own brother…”

He places his arm around her before starting to withdrawal it. She stops him, accepting the comfort he offers.

“I don’t have a sibling I grew up with so I don’t fully understand but, this bullying went way beyond the normal sibling revelry.

It seems he tried to kill him by throwing him in the dryer and turning it on when he was a baby. That is just a sample of what he told me.

I never really knew my dad. That is what really hurts. To know, to get to know my uncle is a wonderful thing though.”

“Aye, that it is. I am truly sorry for everything.” He looks to her and their eyes lock. They both swallow and their lips drift together.

the best by far is you
summary: An exploration of Claire & Jamie's story if their firstborn had lived and they had the chance to be parents together of wee Faith Fraser before the battle of Culloden.
tags: Faith Lives, canon divergence au, s2 fix-it fic
notes: I have to lead with my first Outlander fic because TBBFIY got me back into writing again and it was also the first long fic that I'd finished in a number of years 🥹
Beside the Seaside
summary: The Second World War has ended but returning to their lives from before the war proves difficult for many. For widower Jamie Fraser, the physical and psychological scars he now carries threaten the peaceful life he wants to provide for his young daughter. In an effort to start over fresh, he moves them to a coastal town in the Highlands and buys a seaside inn.
Claire Beauchamp returned from the war with an orphan in tow, intent on adopting the boy and starting the family she and her husband had longed for before the war interrupted their plans. But in gaining her son, she loses her marriage and now must cobble together some sort of life for just her and Fergus. To try and mend their fractured relationship, she takes her son on an extended stay in the Scottish Highlands.
tags: post-wwii au, single parents, marriage of convenience, there was only one umbrella
notes: for a story that started out as just vibes, I'm really proud of how this one is coming together. I'm usually dreading reaching the ending, but I can't wait to share this one (not for a while yet, don't worry).
The Lost Ones
summary: He hadn’t seen his neighbor Claire Beauchamp since the day her world collapsed, but she stood on the other side of his door now with a casserole dish in hand.
-----
Jamie Fraser is dreading the upcoming holiday season, but he finds solace in his growing friendship with Claire Beauchamp, who is battling her own grief this year. Together, they decide to help each other through a difficult time and also work to bring a little joy at Christmas to a child in foster care.
tags: modern au, neighbors, grieving a loved one, probably more Adso content than is strictly necessary
notes: sharing your writing is always sharing a piece of yourself with the world, but this story especially has so much of my own grief in it. I'm really proud of the result.
Soften Every Edge
summary: A soft, domestic interlude, picking up where TBBFIY ended. Time passes, their family grows, and they try not to take a moment of it for granted.
tags: Faith lives, Fraser family feels, canon divergence, less plot more vibes
notes: I recently reread what I've posted for this one so far, because I write primarily for me, and I personally think this is some of my best work. Does it have a plot? Not really! It's got themes though! And Jamie and Claire snuggling their babies, and Fergus on the precipice of adulthood and longing for what's next but not ready to say goodbye to his family, and so much family tenderness. I've always said that I write Seaside for myself, but actually, I think Soften Every Edge is just for me and a handful of friends at this point 😂
Where the Love-light Gleams
summary: Jamie promised to be home for Christmas. He was nothing if not a man of his word. A TBBFIY Christmas story.
tags: Faith lives, canon divergence, Fraser family feels
notes: this is another TBBFIY ficlet, so it feels in the same vein as Soften Every Edge to me and was kind of just an excuse to write more family softness and Jamie & Claire reunion, but that's my jam, so this one gets a top 5 spot!
