Made up fic title: "Sugar and Tea and Rum"

This is the Black Sails/historical fix-it AU where Flint, et al. do successfully establish an anti-colonial antislavery government in the Caribbean and use it as a base from which to disrupt shipping, destroy the triangle trade, and inspire enslaved peoples in other parts of the Americas and colonized places to rise up.

I'm not sure where it first diverges from Black Sails canon exactly, but it could even be a post-canon fix-it wherein James and Thomas escape from that plantation to take up the fight again, this time together. They make their way back to the island where Madi's people are and decide that Nassau might be a lost cause but The Cause isn't, and it's worth fighting for even after the major setback that was the events of the last couple episodes. The Haitian revolution happens a few decades early as a result.

I am extremely not the person to write this fic, but I desperately want it to exist.
