Rick Nelson - You Just Can't Quit (1966)

In 1966 Rick Nelson recorded an Bright Lights & Country Music LP, a relatively straight country album. It's mostly covers but here's one of the highlights, which he wrote himself. That guitar lick is pretty great - not sure if it's James Burton or Glen Campbell playing. Clarence White was also on the session.

I love how every time I stumble on another video from this specific concert I recognize someone new on stage. “Hey is that Bonnie Raitt doing backup vocals? Hey is that James Burton playing guitar”. Yes, it most certainly is. Anyway the vibe is unmatched and I was smiling the WHOLE time

It's so funny for me to listen to Elvis' 50s recording of "A Big Hunk O' Love" because my mind only sees Elvis and Glen D. Hardin playing together in 1972 (the performance taped for EOT).

To make it even better, there's rehearsal footage... 🥹

I prefer the 1972 live performance of that song, over the 1973 Aloha From Hawaii ones, although I love watching the TCB Band rocking onstage regardless. The solos by Glen Hardin and James Burton are flawless (and I feel I can listen to the drums by Ronnie Tutt louder in the AFH concert, and I love it). ⚡
