I’ve Figured it Out
The recipe for what makes me latch onto a Dancing With the Stars contestant each season
They come out of the gate during premier night with TONS of personality and decent dance potential, really applying themselves to grow exponentially over the course of the season despite usually having a dance mishap at one point only for their effort not to quite pay off in the end
Except for the one time it did
#just a few examples of my favorites over the years but I do love an underdog#dancing with the stars#jason & daniella#james & sharna#paige & mark#riker & allison#Lindsey & Mark#justina & sasha#rashad & emma#so many times this season I was having war flashbacks to James & Sharna so it was only a matter of time before I connected the rest

James and Sharna- Season 23
What I really loved about this dance is how good it was from someone that was not a ringer in any sense of the word. James is a racecar driver. He did have natural ability. But I never expected him to be able to pull off a rumba that was *this* good. Even the ringers can have trouble with this dance. So a man who is not a ringer to not only get the technique right, but really get the right balance of energy for the character of this dance, was a huge feat in my mind. And something that I have noticed is that the choreography for all of these dances have not been super in your face. And it still comes off very sexual, sensual, passionate and everything in between without it becoming cringey.

While technically no longer a driver, James Hinchcliffe, known as Hinch, is still an integral part of the field. He remains friends with most of the drivers and serves as an informal liaison between them and the series, emailing drivers after each race asking for their concerns and forwarding them on to those in charge. Now in a broadcast role at NBC for Indycar and select IMSA races, Hinch does not rule out racing again, should the right opportunity arise. As of 2023, he has become a 'big F1 guy' commentating on select F1 races for F1TV
2019 ESPN Body Issue Controversy? Rumor has it that Arrow disapproved of James baring it all and this contributed to him being 'relieved of his duties.' James remained under contract for 2020, under which he was required to be with the team on race weekends and make sponsor appearances, but was free to pursue other opportunities. In 2020, Hinchcliffe joined NBC Sports as analyst for IndyCar races and select IMSA races when he did not enter as a driver. Read the ESPN article and view the pictures.
Hinch often referred to himself as the class clown of Indycar while he was a driver, bringing his slightly irreverent sense of humor out as often as he could. He’s a natural in front of a camera, entertaining fans throughout his whole career. He’s very intelligent and capable of explaining complex concepts in an easy to understand way. He’s got a sunny personality, is very personable and is almost always full of good humor and enthusiasm.
Fanfic Lore
Good friends with Conor Daly, Alexander Rossi and Marco Andretti. The four could be considered a 'band of brothers'
Often paired with one of the others of the band.

Most mothers have scars — some invisible, others more obvious — from the challenging and exciting journey into parenthood. Whether you have stretch marks, a lingering baby bump, or emotional wounds (pregnancy and childbirth are intense!), know that you are not alone. And you shouldn’t be ashamed of any of it. In fact, many celebrity moms feel damn good about their bodies and what they’ve accomplished, particularly when it comes to their C-section scars. Take Alyssa Milano, who called hers “incredibly tribal” or Amy Schumer who showed hers off in a nude selfie. Other women, like Jessie James Decker have revealed their scars as proof that new moms are healing and need to rest during the postpartum period. These celebrity moms are just one portion of the many women who have delivered their babies via Cesarean. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 32.7 percent of all U.S. deliveries are by C-section, and the World Health Organization found that C-section rates are rising globally, now accounting for 21 percent of all childbirths worldwide. All deliveries are beautiful and birth should be celebrated, no matter what that experience looks like. That’s why we are so excited to see celebrity moms talking about the emotional and physical strength required to undergo a C-section and making peace with their scars instead of covering them up or feeling ashamed. After all, they represent a miracle and each one is beautiful! Read more about the celebrities talking about (and celebrating!) their C-section scars. A version of this article was published in 2021. Vanessa Morgan Image Credit: Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection Riverdale alum Vanessa Morgan had an emergency C-section when she welcomed her son River with ex-husband Michael Kopech. The actress also shares daughter Kaia with boyfriend James Karnik. In 2022, Morgan told Kindred By Parents that she got a tattoo to celebrate her C-section scar which she calls her “warrior scar.” “I got the word ‘kintsugi,’ which is Japanese pottery that is believed to be more beautiful for having been broken,” she said. Kelly Hughes Image Credit: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Kelly Hughes made history in 2022 when she became the first woman to show her C-section scar in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. “I am speechless and so honored to be the FIRST” Hughes wrote on Instagram. ” … I struggled with insecurities from my scar being that I’m a model and my incredibly difficult recovery but it wasn’t until I ’embraced my scar that I experienced the true power in it’ 💕” Sharna Burgess Image Credit: Kayla Oaddams/WireImage Sharna Burgess shares son Zane with husband Brian Austin Green, and opened up in 2022 about her initial fear of looking at her C-section scar. “What I had no idea about was my recovery from this,” the Dancing with the Stars pro wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her scar. “I went in expecting a vaginal delivery and came out with a C-section. In total transparency, I was afraid to look at my body for the first time afterwards. The incision and omg the swelling? I looked and thought, ‘Wow, I am utterly unrecognizable and my body has been through some serious sh*t.’ but of course it had… I grew a life inside me.” Witney Carson Image Credit: Gilbert Flores/Variety Dancing with the Stars’ Witney Carson initially “mourned” the fact that she didn’t have a “normal delivery.” Over time, she realized that without her C-section, she wouldn’t have her first son Leo (and later her second son, Jet!). “My C-section gave me a new found strength mentally and physically, a beautiful battle scar, and my most precious gift 🙏🏼,” she wrote on Instagram in 2021. Alyssa Milano Image Credit: Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection Alyssa Milano has talked about her C-section scar for years, sharing her pride for the reminder of her body’s achievements. As Milano told the Me Becoming Mom podcast in November 2021, “How many people can say this is where they cut me open, removed all of the organs in the way, got my baby out, gave me my baby, put all of the organs back in, and then stitched me and stapled me up? There’s something incredibly tribal about it, almost. It feels almost like a tattoo in a way.” We love thinking about a C-section scar as a tattoo — a sweet reminder that it should be appreciated. Some people even get tattoos that incorporate their scars. In 2016, the actress told Today, “I love my C-section scar, because it’s where my babies came from.” Milano shares kids Milo and Elizabella with husband David Bugliari. Lea Michele Image Credit: John Nacion/Variety Lea Michele loves the way her C-section scar reminds her of becoming a mom to son Ever who she shares with husband Zandy Reich along with daughter Emery. In Aug. 2021, the actress shared a photo to her Instagram Stories in which she wore a bikini. “C-section scar so low you can’t even see it,” she wrote. “Although I don’t mind at all because it’s the greatest reminder in the whole world! I can’t believe it’s August and my baby’s going to be 1 soon!” Lindsay Arnold Image Credit: Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection As a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars, Lindsay Arnold knows a thing or two about what the body can do. And in an April 2021 Instagram photo, she revealed that her “favorite” body part is the scar from her C-section after welcoming daughter Sage with husband Sam Cusick. The couple also shares daughter June. She wrote, “C-Section Scar: there has been some speculation on my last couple posts about whether or not I have been photoshopping my scar out of my pictures…now I usually don’t even give time of day to comments like this BUT I feel like this needs to be addressed as it’s important to me that you all know that my [C-section] scar is now my favorite part of my body.” Arnold added, “It is the representation of the thing I am most proud of in my life and that is our sweet Sagey. I seriously want to show my scar to everyone I see cause I think it’s so insane and crazy cool that Sage came out of that little cut in my belly?! I mean come on how incredible is that?! What’s also incredible are amazing doctors that make it possible to do a [C-section] and have the scar be so low it is not even visible in a bikini (had to pull my suit down low for this) which is why you all are not seeing it in my pics.” Arnold concluded in part, “WOMENS BODIES ARE INCREDIBLE.” Malin Andersson Image Credit: WireImage In January 2019, Malin Andersson’s newborn daughter Consy passed away and a few months later, the Love Island star expressed her grief with a photo that celebrated her C-section scar. In April 2021, during Cesarean Awareness Month, Andersson posted a photo of herself wearing a white bra-and-underwear set with rosebuds arranged in a heart around her stomach. “I have so much love for my C-section scar. It’s a reminder of where I once was, who I am now…and how far I have come,” she wrote. “Miss you baby girl.” In Jan. 2022, Andersson welcomed baby Xaya with her boyfriend Jared who left the mother and daughter just 4 weeks later. Amy Schumer Image Credit: Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection In January 2021, Amy Schumer posted a nude selfie to Instagram showing off her C-section scar. “Feeling like my C-section looks cute today!” she captioned the image adding the hashtags #hotgirlwinter and #csection. Two years earlier, Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer welcomed their son Gene. The comedian had previously told the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting podcast that she had a C-section at 39 weeks after originally wanting to deliver at a birthing center. “I was throwing up through the first hour of my C-section,” she said during the interview. “It’s supposed to take about an hour and a half — mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis and that was really scary.” In the end, the C-section just brought much-needed relief to Schumer. She explained, “I had a fresh C-section which had complications [but] I was just so happy. I mean, other than just having a baby, which a couple of people told me the day you give birth is the best day of your life, and that was true for me, but that relief.” Jessie James Decker Image Credit: MORA/Everett Collection Country music singer Jessie James Decker posted a photo to her Instagram Stories showing off her C-section scar in 2021. “Cold weather making me miss the beach,” she wrote, alongside a photo of herself wearing a bikini. “Yes, rock the C-section scar. Loving the DMs.” Decker shares kids Vivianne, Eric, and Forrest, and Denver with former NFL player Eric Decker. Jenny Mollen Image Credit: RCF/Everett Collection Actress and author Jenny Mollen, the wife of American Pie star Jason Biggs, loves her C-section scar so much that she calls it “artistry.” As she wrote on Instagram in 2017 alongside a close-up photo of her stomach, “I just met my new C-section scar for the first time this morning. Thank you Dr. Albert Sassoon for your artistry. Because I wish somebody had shown me a pic like this 9 months ago, I’d like to insist this be your new business card.” Mollen and Biggs share children Sid and Lazlo. Source link

The tricky thing about Argentine tango is that it’s so easy to have the girl dance around the guy and the reason James Hinchcliff’s dance was so memorable was because Sharna did not remotely choreograph that way (also the blindfold). Dwight has made his own strides as a dancer but I definitely think he could’ve been given more at this point in the season, snazzy lifts are only going to get him so far

Happy 500th episode, Dancing With the Stars!
Not many shows make it to this milestone so I want to congratulate everyone who has been part of this legacy and helped get to this point. I look forward to 500 more episodes!
The show opened the same song that opened the very first episode - "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce and Jay-Z. Pasha and Daniella choreographed it and the number included Derek and Julianne as well as former pro Sharna Burgess. It was nice to see Sharna back in the ballroom! I also spotted Lindsay Arnold and Anna Trebunskaya in the audience. If you saw anyone else, please let me know. I'm sure I missed people.
I won't even go into naming the past stars who returned because I know I missed most of them.
In the first round, each star picked a standout routine from a previous season and put their own spin on it. Then in the second round, they had to face the instant dance. They would find out their dance style and song then have five minutes to put the routine together. The styles were chosen from ones the star had already done so they could at least have some practice before the show.
So each couple will have two sections to address each of their dances.
Who was Victorious and who Da'Dipped out? Find out!
Dwight and Daniella: Dwight and Daniella decided to re-interpret James Hinchcliffe and Sharna's Argentine tango to "Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre)." And I felt that Daniella did most of the hard work in this dance. We know you can dance, Daniella. She's a fantastic dancer and has choreographed some amazing routines before but this one just didn't really show off Dwight. Even the judges called it out, asking to see more dancing from him in the second round.
Daniella was not happy that they got the paso doble for their instant dance. Dancing to "Victorious" by Panic! At the Disco, they did struggle with the dance. It looks like Daniella had some issues with her skirt but Dwight was a good partner and helped her through them. But it just wasn't as smooth or as strong as it could've been, even with the short turn around time. Dwight had started off hot and then cooled. He never regained that heat and so I wasn't surprised that he was the one eliminated that night. I wish he had gone out on stronger dances but he can still be proud of the work he did this season. I look forward to seeing him in a couple weeks on the finale.
Chandler and Brandon: Chandler and Brandon got the first perfect score of the season with their interpretation of the Argentine tango to "Para Te" that Kellie Pickler and Derek danced. It was filled with content and tricks that showed off Chandler's skills. She also continued to prove to Carrie Ann that she was in the zone and letting herself dig deeper, tapping into a serious but also sensual side that worked well for the dance. Most of all, they got the ultimate compliment when Derek said he preferred their version to his.
Chandler chose the cha-cha for the instant dance and they were assigned "Apple" by Charli XCX. Watching her cha-cha, it didn't look like she and Brandon had just put it together in five minutes. It was clean, crisp and timed perfectly to the music. They worked well together and looked like they had spent all week preparing it. They definitely earned that second perfect score!
Joey and Jenna: Joey chose to re-interpret Riker Lynch's contemporary to Hozier's "Work Song." He and Jenna wanted to highlight their strong partnership and I think they succeeded. Their contemporary had a lot of aspects that required them to trust each other and to be perfectly in sync to pull them off. But I feel Joey got a little lost in the beginning (not steps wise, just not doing much) and Jenna really did the heavy lifting. It changed up and he showed why he is a serious contender.
Joey chose the rumba and they were assigned Billie Eilish's "Birds of Feather." He started off strong but there was a moment in the middle where I could see him lose his confidence. He didn't falter much but they also didn't end up finishing strong. He slid to join Jenna too late and it wasn't very graceful. However, his routine was pretty good up to that point and it was impressive given how quickly they had to put it together.
Stephen and Rylee: Stephen and Rylee took on Charli and Mark's Viennese waltz to "Glimpse of Us." Mark even stopped by to give Stephen some pointers ahead of his performance and it worked. Stephen had another strong performance, showing how he's grown as a dancer. He looked elegant and strong, leading the dance more than following Rylee. It was absolutely beautiful and I'm so proud of how far he's come.
Stephen got the jive for the instant dance and was assigned Olivia Rodrigo's "love is embarrassing," which was a good choice for a jive. It was a good routine for the most part and I didn't see any major mess ups. There was a trick at the end that I think didn't go exactly as planned but it was fine. Overall, the routine didn't look as polished as their other routines and if someone said they had five minutes to put it together, I think you would believe them. But it was still a really good routine for the little time they had to learn it. So kudos to him!
Ilona and Alan: Ilona and Alan tackled the quickstep when they chose to re-interpret Jordan and Lindsay's routine to Pharrell's "Chuck Berry." It was high energy and perfect for Ilona. She showed off why she deserved to go through to the semi-finals and maybe even to the finals. While she's still stronger in hold with Alan, she handled the side-by-sides pretty well as well. Ilona has definitely improved throughout the season and I really would love it if she went all the way. Go, Ilona!
Ilona pulled the salsa for her instant dance and was assigned "Da'Dip" by Freak Nasty. Like Stephen, her instant dance was good but not as polished as it could've been. There were no glaring mistakes but a trick also did them in, with Ilona coming close to landing on the floor. But they recovered for a decent ending with Alan sitting on Ilona's shoulder. I think he really enjoys having a partner who can lift him and he can enjoy these tricks as well. But their salsa was fun and they held their own, another reason why I really want them to go through to the finals.
Danny and Witney: Danny and Witney re-interpreted Helio and Julianne's quickstep to "Hey, Pachuco," probably the only routine from the early seasons of the show to be selected. Danny taught Witney the fast feet exercise used in football practices and they incorporated it into their routine, which was nice. However, I wasn't really wowed by their routine. It was good but not great to me. I think Danny could still sneak into the finale but not with a routine like this.
Danny started off good with his instant jive to "Good Golly Miss Molly" but I think the beat got away from him. He lost some footing and it just didn't look as good as the others. But he still made it to the end without a major catastrophe, which still shows how talented he can be. He's the only one who hasn't been in the bottom yet, which could bode well for his chances to get into the finale but I don't think this night was one of his best.
So that was the 500th episode! It certainly had some twists and turns. I'm not sure if they'll bring back the instant dance again and I don't think the pros will miss it. Honestly, I don't think I will either. I think I would prefer the 24 hour fusion.
Next time will be the semi-finals. Hard to believe the season is almost over! Who will advance to the finals? We'll find out then!
See you then!

Next for the all-star pairings, I put James Hinchcliffe with Jenna and Josh Norman staying with Sharna. I think Josh and Sharna need a second chance at the mirrorball together, as they could have easily won the athletes season after the freestyle round.
I put James and Jenna together because they already danced together when Jenna filled in for Sharna for two weeks that season. Their waltz was great and is one of the most iconic Halloween dances.
