the thing about Logan is he needs to look so smart. like he's recreated this whole test and he is trying to prove to himself that he is worthy of the jigsaw title. but he cant help getting so involved in it! He hides clues that only he can find knowing they'll come to him for help, he puts himself in a trap so he can role play what would have happened if he hadn't been disqualified from his original game. he's trying to be both the killer and the hero who saves the day and it somehow fucking works out great for him.

and then he makes it personal with Halloran, the "test" he sets for him isn't designed to teach him anything, just punish him for his transgressions. its clear that Logan's not actually interested in changing people, he just wants the people around him to think hes oh so intelligent and cool. He thinks his final moment is so badass but like, it just makes him look sad i think. like he doesn't even say game over, because deep down he knows he never really meant that much to John.

Lawrence on the other hand, understands the true Jigsaw spirit of sitting back and letting things play out. him and John both understand that letting your opponent show their hand, and waiting until they run out of moves before showing their own, which is why they both have their own "teehee, i'm actually alive xp" moment that pays off well for them.

i guess Lawrence has the advantage of having like, an actual background in the lore to fall on, whereas Logan was introduced eight movies into the franchise and was retconned to be like, the most important guy so, like... I just think Lawrence could really shine if he were to take over the role of jigsaw you know? Like great job Logan, you did good bud! now why don't we go play catch out in the yard while daddy goes to WORK

Song for July: The Raving Light of Day by Megaton Sword

~~~ I feel like social media with its algorithms is becoming more and more hostile towards artists, which tbh is making me a little worried about my own future. The internet used to feel so secure back in the day, but now the uncertainty online is making me want to see how I can apply my skill to make my work stand out offline.

Recently I finally picked up miniature painting, a hobby I've been interested in for years, and I'm having so much fun! There are a few other creative hobbies I want to try after I'm done with college responsibilities, and I honestly can't remember when was the last time I felt this excited and confident to try and learn new skills.

grace chasity is the anti-ted: a ramble

so i was rewatching some hatchetfield stuff and i came to. a realization.

grace chasity and ted spankoffski are practically eachother’s exact opposites, and it makes both of their individuals stories so compelling. i wouldn’t exactly say they’re narrative foils, because we never really see them interact in canon, so they’re more almost… parallels.

for example, ted spankoffski proudly accepts the moniker of “horny bastard”, and plays right into it, not hiding his sexual urges. grace chasity’s belief that her sexual urges and fantasies are sinful put her through so much distress that she winds up killing somebody.

on the other hand, ted spankoffski is ultimately very concerned by murder and violence. grace thinks nothing of it, even going as far as to gleefully dismember a body and hide it under floorboards. queen!

grace valued her chastity most of all, but she gave it up to save her friends and ultimately the world. ted, however, thoroughly enjoys sleeping around and being a total sleazeball, but was willing to give it up for another chance with jenny (although he did try to use these sleazeball ways to help him achieve that goal)

the most important comparison is something that isn’t Entirely canon but i feel as though is Implied. i believe that in every timeline, ted spankoffski will die. i also believe that in every timeline, grace chasity will kill. again, directly contrasting eachother, but in a much more drastic way. there are many other parallels between the two i just can’t think of specifics rn

additionally, in the nerdy prudes must die timeline, grace goes on a murderous rampage against all “dirty dudes”, fuelled by the lords in black. and what is theodore spankoffski if not the dirtiest dude of all? there’s no way he’s making it out of that.

i think that the only time grace and ted’s paths will ever notably cross in any timeline is when grace kills ted. this thought is made even More Impactful when you consider grace’s kind-of-friendship with Pete.

random but it struck me that age is just another parallel/anti-parallel that Jon and Jaime will share. Jaime was 16/17(?) when he made the fateful choice to kill Aerys, which forever besmirched his honor and caused him to be “the Kingslayer” (deragatory). Jon was about the same age, 17/18, when he made the fateful decision to march south against the Boltons, something that will undoubtedly dent his already shaky reputation and could cause him to be “the deserter” (also deragatory).

We always talk about how Jaime stagnated and wallowed in his nihilism after Aerys’ death, never growing or maturing past that point; in a way, he was always mentally stuck at 17. Jon could very well die given the wounds he received during the mutiny, and though he will be revived, he will be always be physically stuck at 17, never maturing past that point. But I think Jon has been more successful in a way that Jaime never was in that he figured out quite early (when he was 15) that though he may lose his honor, he must keep pushing for the greater good. He understood the concept of “a bastard’s honor”, and is even more fortunate to receive Tyrion’s lesson of using one’s lowly position/lack of honor to his advantage, which he has been doing to enact what he considers to be the moral goods (ref “bastard” “guilty of that, at least”). P.S: I also think it’s funny given Aemon’s advice to kill the boy in order for the man to be born. Ironic that Jon will always be a boy physically.

Jaime grew physically but not so much mentally. Jon grows mentally (it’s actually his strong suit as a character how much he matures with each book) but he will have sacrificed the ability to age normally as a boy would. Jaime lost his honor at ~17 and is characterized but years of (mental) inaction. I think Jon, on the other hand, will lose his honor but will be more and more prone to making decisions, because to hell with it all.

decided that i probably should just. Sit down and get some canon iterators designed. I had NO ideas for SoS or GW, so that’s why they aren’t here :-) (maybe ill design em soon? dunno)

I like to imagine that the Ancients thought that the different critters in the world were cute/funky, and thats why the iterators are designed with beasts in mind. Perhaps even a bit of an apology to the world for ruining the ecosystems slowly- making gods in the image of nature.

Moon is based on an eel lizard :-) i associate her super heavily with water. Moon is the oldest iterator, hence the fact she has a more “clunky” design. If she was Off the String, she would easily be the most durable. Imagine nokia phone. Her puppet is powered by hydraulics. I think that ancients not only used Iterators for solving the Great Problem, but also had specialized iterators for different purposes. I think Moon was, alongside housing Ancients and puzzle solving, proficient with astronomy. She WAS the Ancients space program /hj.

Five Pebbles is based on a Slugcat :-) not only because i find it ironic and funny, but because I think he was a sort of “blank slate” iterator. The ancients that lived in his city were very endeared towards him, and thought his puppet was so cute. This is partly why hes aggressive/neutral to the slugcats in canon. His specialty, alongside Everything Else, was Anthropology. He is the second youngest.

Seven Red Suns is based on a King Vulture. This one is entirely vibe based, (alongside the fact that the first time i ran into a King Vulture was in my Spearmaster run) and i thought they looked cool! Suns was revered by his Ancients, but overall is kinda Stupid Silly. imagine an old man in the body of a 20 year old. Thats Suns. He specialized in bioengineering and biotechnology. It’d be fun if a lot of the biomechanical beasts in game originated from research done in Suns’ city. Suns is the middle child lmao.

No Significant Harassment was a strange one. Mix of a Dropwig, Stowaway, and Miros. Hes like a bug 2 me :-). He was very friendly with his Ancients, and they hated that. His City was abandoned pretty early on, due to the fact that many Ancients found that he wasn’t really taking the Great Problem into account. Sig focused in on communications and exploration. He’s the second oldest.

Unparalleled Innocence is, pretty obviously, based on a Chief Scav. They’re pretty vain and egotistical. They put great effort into making it as Difficult as Possible for Ancients to consult them on anything. They are ultimately so soso lonely, but dont care for solving the Great Problem. They kept their City running, but ultimately focused in on Archiving information- utilizing communications to get information and images from other Iterators, then turning them into Pearls. They are the youngest.
