The Airport Incident

synopsis: the incident which made protecting yeona at airports, seungcheol's personal mission

Yeona had a rough time early in their rookie days. Likely because debuting in a group dominated by 13 men as the only female member didn't seem favorable to a lot of people.

She was subject to a lot of criticism and hate. She hated it. It absolutely broke her to constantly hear these for a year

Why is she there?

They would do better without her.

I wouldn't even be surprised if she seduced one of them. Probably all of them.

It became worse when they were scheduled to fly from Seoul to New York for Kcon.

Yeona had a security team plus her members to guard her if anything went wrong but some moments still surprises her.

Seungcheol was walking beside her. The rest of the members were either ahead or behind them. She had a mask on, her passport and ticket in her hands, and a bag craddling on her shoulder.

It would've been a normal airport day, until the unprecedented happened. They might have slipped passed their attention because the next thing Yeon knew someone was pulling on her hair.

"You're such a slut!" A woman, who could've been in her late teens or early twenties shouted at her after she took a good tug.

Shock would've been an understatement for everyone. "What the hell?!" Seungcheol shouted quickly putting himself in front of Yeona to cover her from the woman. The other members approached their leader and female member as well for defense while the security team was taking the woman away. "They would've done fine without you!", the woman added before she was finally escorted away.

Her and the members were also being asked to walk faster and to get away from the crowd, to get more privacy.

Yeona was stil recovering from the shock. Her hand was on the back of her head, and her other was holding onto Seungcheol's arms for support. The leader had his arms wrapped around the girl while rubbing ber back.

"Are you okay? Did she do anything else?" asked the elder, with his eyes on the girls face, which she replied with a, "No. I'm fine, just a bit surprised"

"What the fuck just happened?" Mingyu whisper-shouted who just recovered from the shock himself, and quickly came over to check on his friend. "What is their problem? That was so uncalled for!" Seungkwan exclaimed.

"Yeona, oh my god" Seokmin stated in a concerned voice as he touched her face. Wonwoo approached her next. Worry was clearly evident in his face and one look at her expression he quickly knew that she was holding back her tears. "You're not okay...", He whispered to her. It was a signal for her that it was okay to cry.

Seungcheol let go of his hold on her and passed her to Wonwoo so he can replace him in comforting her. "I'll talk to security"

"You know it's not true right? Whatever they said" She heard Jeonghan say from behind. "We want you here with us." Vernon adds to the conversation. One-by-one the members added words if affirmation, enough to help Yeona dismiss the thoughts of whatever was thrown at her.

We're glad you debuted with us.

We wouldn't want anyone else to debut with us.

You deserve to be here.

No one else could have done a better job than you.

"We need you with us" Wonwoo added as he kissed to crown of her head.

From the corner of her eye, she could see her leader talking to tge security team and their manager.

She couldn't hear well but Seungcheol was asking to double security on her because he now realizes how serious the hate around her was going that it would lead to the point that people would harass her in public, where he also asked their manager to quickly contact their company to have someone deal with it and have someone take legal action on whoever harasses her next.

Once he had returned from his conversation, he returned back to the girl who was being held by Wonwoo. "Yeona I'm so sorry I let this happen" Seungcheol told the younger member.

The 96 liner let go of his hold but still stood close enough, "Oppa, it's not your fault. Don't say sorry"

"I still should've watch out for you out there, I should've kept an eye op-" his rumbling was stopped by her hand touching his shoulder. "Stop beating yourself up over something you didn't know would happen. It was scary but I'm okay now."

"I'll protect you better from now on" He promised

She continued talking "You're doing a great job already"

Tiny Help

synopsis: yeona gets a very unwanted guest inside her room and has to call wonwoo for help

year: 2019

It was another saturday for the idol group Seventeen. Everyone had their own thing. Some were at their individual schedules, some were meeting up with friends, and some decided to stay home for the whole day; much like Wonwoo and Yeona.

Their other dormmate and co-member, Mingyu went out so it left the two of them at home.

They were definitely close. But just like any other introverted person, they also enjoyed their alone time. The male would be lounging in the living room while reading a book, while the female would be in her room doing some painting.

That was another thing about Yeona. She loved arts. And if their schedule persists whenever they're in a new place, her and Minghao would take the time to go to museums and galleries.

It was peaceful and mellow for the most part. The only sound Wonwoo could hear was the mumbled music coming from Yeona’s room as she was blasting music while working on her canvas, when he suddenly heard a scream coming from the said room — a few seconds of silence which gave the male a good moment to bookmark his book, stand up and approach her room, and then another scream which led to the door opening.

"Is everything okay?" Yeona heard the deep voice greet her as she exited her room. "Oh thank God you're here"

Wonwoo raised an eyebrow and tilted his head. "There's a huge spider on my wall"

He immediately knew what to do. This wouldn't be the first time his members would ask him to help them with bug incidents.

"How huge?" He asked as he took a step inside the room to find the culprit of his friend's shrieks. "The same size as my hand, big" the latter replied.

He took a quick look around until he spotted the spider attached to the corner of her wall. "I tried shooing him away, but he kept moving closer" Yeona added. She stayed standing outside while she watches the older handle her unwanted visitor.

Wonwoo grabbed one of Yeona’s paint brushes pointed it at the spider and slowly and steadily led it out her window, which he opened earlier.

"Okay," Wonwoo placed the paint brush back on it's previous place, looked outside to find the girl still standing in the hallway waiting for it to be handled. "he's gone"

She slowly stepped back inside and looked around to make sure. "Thank you Nonu" The elder nodded. "You need anymore help?"

"No, you can go back to your book now"

"Sure?" The female nodded in response.

Wonwoo replied, "Okay princess, just call if you need anything else." He gently touched the younger by the back of her hair and brought his lips to top of her head for a quick kiss.

And she held her breath — like she always did, whenever he did that.

"Okay"

Kyungnam and Yeona have known each since before her debut. Both were dancers in practice and in the period that Yeona was training to become a professional, they met. When she started training to become an idol, they lost touch and only got to talk again in early 2016. Yeona and Kyungnam were extremely compatible. Even their friends noticed that they had a lot of similarities — which could have been the reason for their breakup. They were so similar that they didn't have the chance to grow with one another and soon they fell out of love. It was short lived but it was a good breakup. They said to remain as friends but they didn't really tall much after that.

YOO TAEYANG

Her first serious relationship. Taeyang and Yeona met numerous times on music shows and award shows. With the dozens of encounters they've had since both SF9 and Seventeen were actively promoting, it was nearly impossible to have these two not be attracted to one another The two made a few small talks which soon developed into more when they got each other's numbers. Even their members were pleasantly surprised to have two of the shyest members of their groups find comfort in the other much quickly. Later on the two began dating and it turned out more serious than they thought. They considered the other their first love, but sadly the romance wasn't enough for them to last. After almost two years, the two of them finally called it off after busy schedules and conflicts over not having enough time. Yeona thinks it would've been the best because she thinks that if they stayed they would've only hurt the other more with the constant fighting. Nonetheless, the two reconnected after having some time to cool off and continued to stay friends.

This one took a long time before it actually happened. The two were in the same group together and Yeona had this philosophy that she shouldn't date any of her members after receiving so much hate over the mere thought that she was "seducing" them when she was not. All the feelings they for one another at the beginning were platonic and friendly. Yeona didn't even think she'd consider to like him, but eventually she began drawing feelings for him in 2019. At first she thought that she was just attracted to hin physically (because who wouldn't), until she began to notice that the actions Wonwoo would do in the past seemed to have a different effect on her now. Wonwoo on the other hand didn't notice any of his feelings until she began seeing Taeyang. Once he thought he was just being over protective of her but soon he realized that it was because he likes her. He kept it a secret for so long because she was in a happy relationship and because he know that she didn't want to get involved with any of the members. Then as soon as 2021 happened, they began to show more of their feelings to the other. The other members were more than happy on the other hand to see some progress between the two because they've been noticing their feelings toward the other for a while now and thought that they should leave it between them to figure it out. On October 2021, Wonwoo finally opened up his feelings after hiding for years which Yeona reciprocated. The pair have been dating since.

Not only is he the leader of seventeen and the hip hop team, he is also the leader of the protect-yeona-at-all-cost team. He is very protective of her and is always seen looking out for her. Yeona isn’t the type to ask people for help so seungcheol would always initiate the help when she needs it without making her feel helpless and too reliant. He is probably one of the members that has seen her cry the most and that’s because he was one of the first few trainees she has shown her vulnerability to.

while at the airport, a number of photographers, and fans were crowding the members and yeona was physically uncomfortable with the whole situation since she was being pushed relentlessly. seungcheol pulled her to her side and covered her from the cameras and asked people to step aside while rubbing her shoulder. Ever since then, you will always see Seungcheol standing besider her when they're at the airport.

wonwoo (yeonwoo)

Wonwoo is the calming presence that keeps yeona grounded and safe. When things get overwhelming, wonwoo is the first person she runs to. At the same time, Wonwoo can clearly sense when Yeona gets stressed or sad, and he'd be the first person to give her a hug that she didn't ask for but definitely needed. As two home-bodies, they spent most of their time lounging at the couch, watching a netflix series/film.

During wonwoo's bittersweet vlog, Yeona knocked on his bedroom door while he was sticking the stickers on the wall. "Are you busy?" she asked him without showing herself on the camera but ut did catch Wonwoo's faint smile. "No, just filming a vlog and decorating", "Can we watch a movie?". Wonwoo nodded and gestured Yeona to come closer. "Are you tired?" he asked as he grabbed her hand while caressing it. "No, I just want to watch a movie with you"

mingyu (yeongyu)

Mingyu LOOOVES clingling to Yeona like she's a teddy bear. Just imagine big and tall Mingyu hiding behind a smaller Yeona when he's afraid of something. And they aren't called the visual duo for nothing. Whenever these two are beside each other, it's like seeing a god and goddess in real life. Mingyu acts as her annoying twin that loves her too much. And because he can't keep her hands off of her, they have to keep assuring the public all the time that they're just really really close friends.

Mingyu loves posting candid photos of Yeona on social media so much, that fans have a whole compilation of all the photos of Yeona taken by Mingyu. Their favorite however is when Mingyu posted an instagram story of Yeona on her birthday with the caption, "Happy birthday to my favorite model, i love you"

vernon (yeonsol)

Her favorite child (But don't tell the others that). Yeona adores Vernon so much. She always mentions how much his funny reactions bring her joy and how much she adores the way he thinks. He's a year younger but she treats him like a baby and all too possibly, Vernon doesn't even mind although he tries not to let that show. But everyone know he loves her attention

Vernon is a tsundere when it comes to Yeona. He loves to pretend that her love and attention isn't a big deal but he actually takes pride in it and sometimes uses it to his advantage. One time while playing a game on who would take the penalty, Yeona won and the former was on the other end of the line, about to lose. Vernon was giving puppy eyes to Yeona to save him and Yeona being the biggest Vernon fanboy, couldn't resist. Carats were extremely ecstatic when Vernon gave her the biggest and warmest thank you hug with a kiss on the temple as a thank you.

Yeona is the soft and innocent kind. People describe her as someone pure, and would not hurt a fly. She appreciates it when people take care of her, but not so much that she feels like she's helpless and is being too dependent. She has a warm heart and is easily swayed by emotions but tries her best not to let that show. She cares a lot for the people around her and forms emotional attachments quickly. People also see her as being too nice for her own good because she just doesn't know how to put herself first.

kira (enhypen 8th member)

Kira is a kind of person who is caring and thoughtful. People see her as someone who is very serious that sometimes they tend to misjudge her as humorless and boring, sometimes even rude and selfish. In reality, she knows how to have fun but she likes to reserve her enegry and just watch other people make a scene rather than doing it on her own. And yes, she'd let them have fun, contrary to popular belief that she'd scold them and tell them to stop. She's just a mellow and shy type of person but her members know that there is a chaotic side within her that she just occasionally shows and one that she only brings out when she's with them or people she's close to.

valerie (aespa 5th member)

Compared to Kira, Valerie is the opposite. She's the life of the party. She loves to make friends and is extremely playful which makes her one of the best members for variety shows. She loves making people laugh and she loves a good laugh. People sometimes comment that they gain energy from her because she brings a positive vibe. Although sometimes, admittedly, she can be too energetic that she has to keep on working or moving to fuel that energy up, so she tends to overwork herself or to overdo things that it can get too much, that it can be a self-destructive kind of energy.

heaven (red velvet 6th member)

don't be fooled. She may bring a very sophisticated, quiet, and reserved aura but she's actually clumsy and free-spirited. She likes discovering new things which makes her ambitious and daring. People are often intimidated by her because of her presence but once you get to know her, you'd understand that she is far different from the prim and proper haneul because of how casual and vulgar she can get that sometime they get so shocked. While she is straightforward and liberal, she's still careful and likes to think things through before making a decision so she won't hurt or offend the people around her.

MAMA Special Stage

Many carats and monbebes are well aware of the friendship between the two groups. One commendable moment was their iconic MAMA special stage.

Yeona had always been timid, si while at rehearsal she had a bit of trouble getting around with the other group. Luckily for her, Monsta X were more than willing to approach her.

"It's hot isn't it?" The younger female heard Hyungwon speak up from behind her. They just finished a take of their performance and now they were given some time to rest before they can start rehearsals again. Yeona turned her head to come face to face with the Monsta X member and nodded her head.

Just then Hyungwon gave out his mini fan to the the girl. Yeona looked at it for a moment, confused. "You can take it" He offers. The seventeen dancer shook her head and gracefully denied his offer, feeling shy that he had to give out that was his.

"Oh no. It's fine, really" She said with a small smile while waving her hands to say no. However, Hyungwon didn't take no for an answer and grabed her hand so he could place the mini fan on her hand. "It's okay, I can share with the other members". As soon as he dropped the item on her hand, he made her fingers grasp it better, and walked with a smile.

Sharing the same dressing room

Not a lot of fans know this but Seventeen and Monsta X used to share dressing rooms when they were rookies (Seungkwan and Chan actually shared this on a live ><)

For a lot of moments, Yeona started to become closer with the other group through this experience. In many cases, she would be sitting on a couch having a casual conversation with I.M. or she would be joking around with Jooheon while they wait to be called for pre-recording.

Sometimes when Yeona would be sitting in front of the mirror while getting touched up, Wonho would sometimes stand behind her making faces in front of the mirror to distract her.

Monbebes and Carats couldn't help but notice when Yeona and Kihyun sitting back and whispering to one another while their members play around. It was as if the two were gossiping about someone by the way they reacted to each other's stories.

It was also funny to see Yeona take videos of Shownu when he was running around in a circle (iykyk) because she couldn't help but think it was hilarious and cute at the same time.

BEING FEATURED ON EX-GIRL

Last 2016, Yeona was given the chance to feature in one of monsta x’s b-side tracks named Ex-Girl. 

This marked as one of her first solo projects outside of Seventeen, and with other artists. People couldn’t help but praise her for her sweet voice and stated that the song matched her really well.

Monsta X even mentioned her during one of their interviews stating that they were really grateful that Yeona accepted the offer to sing alongside them and even talked about how fun it was to work with her. 

“I remember when we first called her to ask her if she wanted to feature in one of our songs and the first thing she told us was ‘If you’re kidding right now, I’ll never talk to you again’. We really didn’t make a wrong choice when we invited her.” - Wonho

Likewise, Yeona also stated that Monsta X had greatly helped her during recording and cheered her on.

“Hyungwon oppa and Minhyuk oppa were were there when I was recording my part of the song. Before I went inside I told them that I was a bit nervous because it was the first song I’ll be recording outside of Seventeen but they really reassured me a lot that I’ll do great and made sure to give me enough encouragement when I was inside the recording booth.”

CALLING EACH OTHER ON VLIVES

Another fan favorite moment was when Jooheon called Yeona while she was doing her birthday live.

In the middle of talking to the fans, Yeona was surprised to suddenly hear her phone ring only to find out it was Jooheon from Monsta X. The girl picked up the call with a smile, "Oppa! Hello!" She greeted happily.

"CHOI YEONA!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" The older member shouted. The phone wasn't on loud speaker but the viewers could partially hear him due to his shouting. "Thank you!" Yeona shouted back to match his energy. "I'm actually on vlive right now"

"Oh really?"

"Can I put you on speaker?" The girl asked politely. When she got an approval, she turned on speaker mode and asked Jooheon to introduce himself.

"Hi everyone it's Monsta X's Joohoney. Please greet Yeona a happy happy birthday!"

A few seconds later, a muffled voice was heard from the background, then she heard a voice of another member. "Yeona! Happy Birthday!" Changkyun echoed in the background.

Yeona’s partner-in-crime, whether it be in their personal antics or in dancing. Like her admiration for jihoon, she also appreciates soonyoung’s hardwork and passion for dance. And while she always helps him direct performances and creating choreographs, she also doesn’t fail to remind him to take a break and to look out for him when he’s been working too much. She fully supports him on his Tiger agenda, even if she hears it almost all the time, because this is where he’s happy.

During a practice video, when everyone just finished doing one full run of “Crush”, the camera was able to capture Soonyoung pulling Yeona off of the floor despite her asking for 5 more minutes. Once he was able to do so, he gave a big hug which only made Yeona push him away due to their sweat.

Yeona was mesmerized the first time she saw Jun. She thinks he was extremely attractive and was intimidated to approach him at first. But when they became closer, Yeona would always look for his warm presence whenever he’s not around.

→ memorable moment:

Jun loves to teach her about Chinese culture and Yeona loves sharing Korean and American culture to him as well. On their days off, Jun would invite her for shabu-shabu or to go out to eat at a new restaurant.  When they talked about Jun’s love for hotpot in “In the Soop”, Jun also mentioned that Yeona gifted her tools and resources he can use for his hotpot adventures, and he always manages to invite Yeona with him.

One of the members Yeona took a long time to get close to. Other than the language barrier, they were both very timid people that no one between them would start a conversation. Not until they began talking about how much they missed China and the US, and their love for arts and fashion.

It’s a well known fact that Minghao loves going to museums and art spaces. During a Vlive, he talked about whenever they go to a new city, Yeona would always research museums and art spaces for Minghao and how they plan to go together whenever they have the time to do so. On top of all of that, they also plan each other’s outfits when they get the chance.

dino (chanyeon)

If Mingyu acts like the annoying older brother (despite being the same age), Chan loves to act like the annoying younger brother. She gains energy during practice by watching him because he looks like he never loses energy when dancing. Yeona felt so proud to watch him grow up. And she doesn’t want to admit it, but she secretly likes it whenever she teases him and he whines “Yeona Noona” to make her stop,

Dino invited her to do a danceology with him and all to possibly, the whole experience was one of the most memorable ChanYeon moments, because carats got to see more of their chemistry apart from the usual sibling energy they give of.

Yeona has two tattoos. All are small and hidden. But there are a few carats who suggest that she has one but they choose not to ask her until she opens up about it herself.

One is an ankle tattoo of her mom's birth year, and the last is a diamond tattoo behind her ear

Engenes are well aware of her wrist tattoo which can be seen in her pre-debut pictures but Be:lft is trying so hard to hide so that tattoo has never been seen ever since she became Enhypen.

Valerie

Valerie had always wanted to get a tattoo and she finally got the chance to do so a year in her career. Ever since then she has had 2 tattoos, One is an above the elbow tattoo and it's her favorite flower. The other one is on her shoulder.

Heaven

Heaven has the most tattoos out of the four. She has a total of five.

One is a lower back tattoo which says "unforgettable", the other one is on her upper back and it's a cloud, as a symbol of her name and her stage name, another one is a wrist tattoo of an angel. Her fourth tattoo is a rainbow tattoo on her ankle with all the members' representative color, and the last one is more hidden and it's placed on her hip. The only ones who know are her members, her family, soonyoung, and her closest friends. It's not even visible during her VS photoshoot.
