Surjya Kumar Modak was a renowned Sweet maker of Eastern India at that period. The name of the newly invented Sandesh was "Jalbhara Talsansh Sandesh" - An Innovative Creation in the World of Sweets'. Later, it became more popular by the name "Jalbhara Sandesh". Surjya Kumar Modak also invented Motichur Sandesh, Aam Sandesh, Khirpully Sandesh at the same time.
