Make your gays
My brain did a thing today where I was talking to a friend about how shit the 'bury your gays' trope is, but then I said 'oh, I'm not just pissed about that, but also at the lack of bravery to even make some obviously queer coded characters be gay!' and my brain went: 'Make your gays' and I really enjoyed that so...
My biggest e.g. is Eddie Munson in this instance. He is at the very least Bisexual... No straight man leans into another man's space and calls him big boy (!!!!!) unless he's a little bit queer, no? Like, ok, I know this was a Joe Quinn improv thing and not a Duffer bros writing thing, but come on, there are quite a few other things about him that are just v.v.v.v.v gay, at least to me.
But also: Nancy Wheeler, Jughead, Jake Peralta, Emma Swan - all have so much queer energy!
Also also, what's really funny to me, having only found out this past year that I was audhd, is that most of these characters also feel very neurodiverse to me!

JAKE WHEELER IS TRANS!!! YOUR GONNA LOOK AT THIS SCULPTURE AND TELL ME IM WRONG???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the sculpture is meant to represent him (im 90% sure at least) and his HOMOPHOBIC father tells him "no more dolls"... why my guy, because it's a girly thing. and also to be really annoying the sculpture could be a visual of how he's supposed to not like typical feminine things but you can't just let go of the years you've lived everything you've experienced... damn ... I'm gonna go build this now.

*spoilers for Chucky TV Series*
Moving on to another television series based on a popular horror franchise, we are now discussing ā€œChuckyā€, which premiered on Syfy and USA Network in 2021, created by Don Manicini, who originated the entire franchise.
After seven movies, the iconic foul-mouthed killer doll continues his path of bloodshed on the small screen, with his targets sighted on a new generation of kids to terrorize.
One of those kids is middle schooler Jake Wheeler.
Before Chucky came into his life, Jake was already living in a horror story.
After his mother died in a car accident, Jake’s father Lucas became alcoholic, he is bullied mercilessly at school over his sexuality, and his perfectionist cousin Junior wants nothing to do with him.
At home, Lucas’ anger is compounded by the jealousy he felt toward his twin brother Logan’s more successful life he shared with his own wife and son. Plus, he is also not very accepting of Jake’s sexuality once he came out to him. All of this brewing rage led to Lucas punching his young son in the face after a heated argument. 🄺
The only solace he had was building those bizarre, morbid sculptures in his bedroom. (A hobby that he apparently outgrew after season 1, cause it’s never mentioned again.)
Then, Jake crosses paths with the red-headed doll at a chance encounter at a garage sale. After discovering his supernatural secret, Jake becomes slowly influenced by Chucky through after sharing his problems with him. Chucky uses false empathy to sway Jake into believing that he cares about his personal issues and wants to help him out. Thus, Chucky proposes a solution to make Jake’s emotional pain go away: MURDER!
What makes this so fascinating is that we see our lead character contemplating on going through with murdering someone. There are scenes of Jake buying weapons, chasing after someone, and even willingly gives Chucky to his tormentor Lexi, knowing that she would get murdered. Even though he has a change of heart and chooses to stop this plan, part of me actually worried that Jake would’ve succeeded in giving in to Chucky’s psychopathic manipulations, becoming another Charles Lee Ray in the making. It is terrifying, yet heartbreaking to see how easy it is for a child from a broken home could be influenced to do horrific acts by a stranger.
Yet, the damage was already done. Jake’s actions have still led to many deaths around him, including classmates and family members.
Now, Jake has to take responsibility and make things right. Now, everyday him and his friends have to spend their teen years facing danger at every turn.
Evil therapists. Psychotic nuns. Sociopathic children.
And to top it off, Chucky can be anywhere…and ANYONE!!
I can’t tell you if Jake will survive Chucky once more, because season 3 hasn’t premiered yet by the time this post has been published.

Chucky show s3 ended. And I pray it’s the last.
And I want to rant about it.
Chucky s1-3 spoilers below ā¬‡ļø
Okay. I first wanna say that I fucking love the child’s play series. Even seed. These movies were my childhood and i love how wacky they got. When the chucky show came out I loved the series even more.
Episode 1 was interesting to me enough that I watched more. I loved that there was a gay main character in this horror tv show. Everything was fine until Jake saved Lexi from falling. That’s when it all went to shit
Lexi is one of the most insufferable characters I’ve had the misfortune of seeing in a television show. She could not be any less interesting or annoying if the writers tried. Giving her that drvg add1ction shit in s2 was the most bullshit way to make us like a character.
Like, I’m sorry? That your family is dead? Join the rest of the group?
She felt like such a unneeded character that only got relevance later on because her sister is a psycho.
S2 was an entire mess I really don’t even wanna talk about. Missed opportunity imo. Could’ve been great. Then it wasn’t. Only mf I have a shit about was Andy. I don’t even remember the ending to be honest.
S3 was at least better that 2, which isn’t saying much. Though I will say i wasn’t a fan of seeing Jake and Devon get cockblock like 4 times. Or seeing Lexi give such a shit about her sister that it lead her to date the presidents son, giving us a boring ass relationship and cringy ass scenes. And I’m sorry, I know ghost are technically real in this universe cause chucky is.. alive still. But seeing them interact with people and be poorly green screened blue dumb asses wasn’t enjoyable in the slightest.
This show truly should’ve been an anthology series. Cause Fuck Jake.
Jake is such a boring character later on in the show. Like we cared more about lexis sister than Jake.. the main character. I’m glad Jake got possessed in the finale, it’s what I needed. Jake content. Him reconnecting with his dad, zacks surprisingly good chucky impression?, and him being in the spotlight was what I wanted to see. Sadly, they forced all that into 1 episode, just like Nicas character for this season. Ohhh nica. I’m so sorry girl.
Jake, Devon, and Lexi being turned into dolls in the end wasn’t actually that bad. I wanted them to be dolls tbh (Jake and nica especially). But they’re so fucking ugly im not sorry.
Id get into my hatred for how glen and Glenda turned out.. but that’s a whole other essay I can write.
Overall. This show was bad. I’m sorry but it was, I’m surprised fans.. like it? There’s a lot of good stuff i like, but it’s so shit I can’t even forgive it.
Fuck u chucky.

Note
For Jake and Junior: Longest you two have ever bickered?
Jake: Two years. It started when we were eight and it didn't end until we were ten.
Junior: What were we even arguing about?
Jake: Lexi. You thought that I was crushing on her because I was always staring at her.
Junior: Ohh.. didn't you?
Jake: Unamused as all hell I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that.
-----------------------------------------------
I just find it unbelievably hilarious that Junior canonically bullies Jake for being gay but still got jealous and upset when Jake was scrolling through Lexi's Instagram.
