Jake's Love Language 💚
Warnings: Mentions Of Love-Making, Jake Being Jake, Time Jump, Little Bit Of Angst, Hint Of Pregnancy, And Lot Of Fluff.
While you are lying in the bed while sleeping in naked, Jake can't help but look that you sleeping so peaceful. However, he kisses your temple, and you wake up from your sleep....
"Hey cowboy, what up?" You rubbing your eyes.
"Nothing, just looking at your beautiful face and just to think that I'm can't believe that I'm one lucky son of a bitch." He smiles towards you.
"And, why is that, Mr. Seresin?" You ask him
"Because I'm glad that I'm met you. The first time you step in The Hard Deck is when I'm first laying my eyes on you. Plus, at first, you were suspicious of me because you thought I was gonna kidnap or murder you." He chuckled
"Well, that was my first instant in my mind. It's just that I'm don't want nothing bad to happen to me, you know?"
"I'm understand where you are coming from. But you know that not who I am, and if I'm were serial killer, I wouldn't be the man that my mama raised me that I am today." He smirks while he cuddles you.
"I'm know, I love you Jakey."
"I'm love you too, darlin." He said it in a southern drawl accent that you fell in love with when y'all first met each other.
Y'all start to make out once again, he giving you love bites on your jaw to your neck, while you moaning to his name....
"Jake, I'm need you, and I want you." You cooed
"You have me, babe, always and forever because you are my wife, and I gonna take care of you, so let me do my husband's duties." He said to you with full of love.
When he touches you, it's like ice melt in your body, the way he kisses you, you get a taste of strawberries like on a summer day. And when y'all make love, ever since y'all gotten married, that feeling still electric when you feel like you the only girl in the world.
Over the next two years, y'all two found a home to start your little family, plus it makes sense so Jake can be closer to his job. So one day while you scrolling through to see what kind of couch for the living room, you felt little sick in your stomach, so you went straight to the bathroom and you throw up, so afterwards you thinking in your mind that you might be pregnant. So you call your husband for a favor...
"Hey darlin, what up?" He answered
"Hey J, I'm need a favor." Your voice is a little nervous
"Okay, is something wrong, sweets?" He asks in a concerned voice.
"Yeah, while you are on the way home, can you go to the store and get me three pregnancy tests for me, please?"
"Sure baby, I'm gotcha ya, I go get it now alright?"
"Alright, thank you, Jakey."
"No problem, darlin', I'm be coming home soon, see you when I get there."
"Okay, love you, J," you said to him
"Love you too, sweets." He hang up the phone.
So after he came home from the store, Jake walked in the house, greeted, and hugged you tight because he knew everything is gonna be okay, no what matters life throws at them. And so you feel little nervous to take both of the tests but Jake is right by your side every little step in the way, so you went to the bathroom and took all the three tests and put a timer on and wait after it's rings.
"Hey, you know everything is gonna be fine, you know that right?" He comfort you.
"I'm know J, but what if I'm not ready to be a mom?, what if I-I'm not fit for it?, I really scare Jakey." You feel nervousness in your voice.
"Hey, hey, hey, baby, I'm told you when we got married, you know I always gonna take care of you till in sickness in health, for better and for worse. And be there for you regardless if I at work or home, you my number one priority and I'm love you sweets." He holds your hands while he comforts you with love.
"I love you too Cowboy."
*Dings*, the timer rings so y'all about to found out if you pregnant or not......
"Okay, you ready? On three: 1, 2, 3", y'all flipped both of the tests, and it's all came back to positive, meaning y'all is expecting your first child together.
"We gonna be parents, baby!!" You excited but nervous at the same time.
"We are baby, we are!, I'm looking forward to it be a daddy. He smiles and gives you a kiss on your temple.
Nine months later, you have been giving birth to a baby girl, and you name her Jade Alexis Seresin. She got beautiful green eyes and her nose shaped just like her daddy. You and Jake were over the moon that y'all became parents, and you named Bob Floyd & Natasha Trace as the godparents for your daughter. 💚
A/N: It's just a little burb story that I'm made, but it's a sequel but part 2 to Texan & Georgian storyline that I did, and sorry , I took my time with it, but I did the best that I could. I hope y'all like it.

Jake Seresin x plus size!reader

Words: 1500
The One I Want Masterlist / Main Masterlist / Tag List
“I can’t tell you much,” Jake had told you, but you knew that. “We’re not a hundred percent in the clear, but it’s looking like four weeks, maybe five.”
“Beats fifteen,” you’d said, hearing a rewarding chuckle in return.
You were thankful no one could witness the mess you were at that moment, your face-splitting grin heavily contrasting the puffiness of your eyes from tears. But that was just the beginning of weeks of inner turmoil.
For forty-eight days, your stomach has swirled a storm that’s consistently had you on the edge of nausea, whether from anxiety regarding his safety or butterflies at the thought of Jake returning. You miss him, more than you thought yourself willing to, and regardless of what he told you, nothing guarantees he will walk through the door of your apartment. And if he doesn’t, you know exactly what will happen to you. You’ll crumble into unsalvageable pieces, and no one—not Millie, not Rooster, not anyone who has been kind to you over the last months—will be able to put you back together.
And then what? Your only choice will be to leave. Start anew. Twelfth new place. Except this time, you’ll be more numb, less human, less operable on a daily basis. It’ll be like waking from a dream to a gray environment. You fear nature will lose its color, and you will lose your light once again.
—
It’s another week before your phone rings with a name other than Millie’s plastered across the screen. Unknown Number, but the first three digits are recognizable, matching those of the number Jake has been using to call you with. What you hear on the other end of the line, however, is not Jake, but instead, a gruff voice asking you to confirm your identity.
“Yes,” you answer. “That’s me.”
The man clears his throat. “You are the emergency contact for Lieutenant Jake Seresin. We’d like you to come down to our medical facility as soon as possible,” he says before providing you directions.
You drop your phone, and then you’re running. Running to his truck, running from his truck to base, running through halls until you find someone willing to lead you to him. You’re so terrified, your arms jittery, legs barely functioning from the panic of Jake’s pending fate, so overwhelmed by nerves that when you finally do see him, it pisses you off.
That man with the voice that imbued you with dread is on your shit list for life. Maybe next time, he could lead an emergency contact call with He’s fine or Don’t worry, because his implication was severe enough that you feared lost limbs or damaged brain functioning. But there Jake is, not in a coma or with some life-threatening injury, but sitting on the edge of a bed in a room with his back to you as a nurse seals a strip of medical tape across a small patch of shaved hair on the side of his head.
When she’s done with her work, she smiles at Jake and nods at something he says before walking out of the room. She jumps at the unexpected figure lingering just outside the door, and then realization dawns.
“Oh, you must be the girlfriend,” she says. “You’re welcome to go on in.”
So you do, cautiously easing into the room, hoping that when he turns, his face won’t be covered in slashes and bruises—a sight you’re not sure you can handle with strength and maturity. You’d love him all the same, but to see him in such pain would take you to your knees. But again, he’s fine. Beautiful as ever. Not a mark on him that you can see save for the one on the mend.
Jake’s face brightens at the sight of you; he practically glows, and you’re shocked to discover yourself not running into his arms. You’re frozen for a moment as you take him in. It’s a quick moment—a brief second to recover—but then you’re stepping to him, your eyes watering, your bottom lip quivering, your fingers reaching up to brush over the stark white tape. You’re careful with your feathery touch, relieved to see that his injury is not so sensitive as to make him wince.
Jake’s arms wrap around your waist. His eyes do not break from your face. He’s patient as you scan him once more for visible injuries, verifying for your own sake.
“It’s just the one,” he tells you, his voice soft and only a few notes above a whisper. Your eyes snap to his. He lifts his hand to cup your cheek, thumb stroking your cheekbone. “Come here, beautiful.”
You melt when his lips gently touch yours, but the kiss doesn’t last long as innocent. There’s bites and sucking and giving and taking, and it’s perfect in its semi-sloppy neediness. Voices passing by the door is what breaks the two of you apart. Jake lightly groans before he chuckles and rests his forehead against yours.
“I missed you,” he says. He places another quick peck on your lips. “I want to take you home.”
“Then take me home.”
—
“J-Jake!”
You feel his mouth curve against your core before he licks another stripe right through you, tongue like a heated blade slicing you in two halves, spreading you open and baring you inside and out. You’re completely gone—lost in the sole way you’re willing to be lost—as Jake tethers you to this earth. He’s the only one you trust to ground you while simultaneously letting your head float amongst the clouds.
His arms curl around the thickness of your thighs, locking onto you and keeping your hips steady atop the mattress as he devours and tastes and sucks and licks some more.
“Come on, beautiful,” he mumbles into your folds, just loud enough for you to hear through the rush of blood in your ears. “Let me have it.”
As if you could hold it back.
Your whole body jerks and writhes as you sink into pleasure, back arching, head digging into the pillow. Jake reaches a hand up to intertwine your fingers and you squeeze them tightly while he continues to kiss folds and brush his nose against the overstimulated bud.
“There we go,” he coos until your body calms.
Jake crawls onto the bed, lips and tongue traveling up the soft flesh of your stomach, between the valley of your breasts, into the dip in your throat before he kisses you, demanding you taste everything you just gave him.
Jake introduced you to your taste during those weeks before his deployment. His head lived between your legs. He showed you how to perch perfectly on his face, encouraging you through your concerns of suffocating him. He begged you to relax when he backed you up against the wall, slipped your pants off, knelt, and tossed your leg over his shoulder as he dove in. And after each success of making you crumble to pieces, he sealed his lips to yours and pushed his tongue into your mouth.
You know your taste as well as you know his, and on the occasions he spills down your throat before he returns the favor, you get the satisfaction of the combination on your tongue—a mixture more intoxicating than an alcoholic binge.
“I’m never going to want anything like I want you,” he says after he slips inside of you, the intensity of the love in his eyes penetrating your soul.
“Then it's good that I’m yours,” you whisper back.
Thrusts that were paced and steady and gentle falter. With your words comes a sharp rut of his hips—unexpected to you both—that hits hard, deep. Jake chokes on the air in his lungs, his eyes snapping shut as you cry out.
“Fuck” hisses through the grit of his teeth. Then he finds his pace again.
His head falls to your neck. Nibbles make you gasp, and the image of examining claiming bruises in the mirror first thing come morning causes your walls to clench around the veiny column moving in and out of you. Your fingers fist into his hair. Nails dig into the toned muscle of his ass.
“I do love you, Jake,” you say.
He stops completely, but you don’t question it. The fingers in his hair loosen and you lightly scrape your nails along his scalp, down to the base of his neck, then back up into blond locks. Turning your head, you stamp a tender kiss onto his temple.
Jake doesn’t say a thing. He doesn’t look at you. His thick breaths burn the delicate skin just under your ear. When he begins to move, he’s slow, taking his time before he picks up, working to nudge that special spot inside of you that tightens a white-hot coil in your belly.
“I love you so much, beautiful,” he whispers.

The girl behind the bar (Part 6)
pairing: Jake Hangman Seresin x plus-size reader
warnings: body shaming, angst, hurtful language
words: 2.5k
Summary: After your kiss with Jake, you're nervous for the next time you would see him. When he came to the bar with some guys you've never seen before, things have changed between the two of you, but not the way you wanted them to...
a/n: This was hard to write. I don't know what else to say here other than I'm sorry!
Link to my masterlist
You had been nervous all day. From when you woke up in the morning, making yourself lunch at noon, going grocery shopping and getting ready for your shift.
It was the day after your kiss with Jake and the thought alone of possibly seeing him again tonight at the bar had you in a chokehold. Would it be different between the two of you? It had to be, right? But in what way?
You felt your hands getting sweaty again and quickly wiped them on your pants before you entered your workplace. It was an hour until the bar would open and you decided that work would be the best distraction.
You placed your belongings in Penny’s office like every day and got over to the storage room to grab a case of beer to restock the bar.
As you walked out of the little hallway and into the main bar room, you looked out of the big windows. The weather outside was sunny and warm, no indication of the storm that had raged outside and consequently trapped you and Hangman in here last night.
But inside, the candles on the bar counter and empty bottles of beer told you another story. The sight of last night’s remains stopped you in your tracks for a moment.
You carried the case of beer behind the bar and quickly put away the candles in a cabinet beneath the counter. Then you grabbed the empty bottles of beer and put them in the recycling bin. As you looked up, your eyes caught the sight of the table where Jake had put you on top of as you both had kissed.
The fact that you hadn’t given, him lifting you, a second thought was proof of how good the kiss actually was. Your fingers went up to touch your lips as they were tingling at the thought.
“Hello, darling”, Jimmy said as he entered the bar. “Hey Jimmy”, you said startled and quickly got back to tidying up. “Got home okay last night?”, you asked him as you wiped down the counter. “Sure did”, he told you. “I recon you two got home good as well?”, he asked and had a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Who two?”, Penny suddenly entered the bar as well. “Last night, I found Hangman and our Y/N here when I came by. Felt like I interrupted something”, he told her straight away with a wink.
“Jimmy!”, you called out surprised. “He didn’t interrupt anything. We were just here to check on the place like you asked”, you told your boss, feeling your cheeks heating up.
“I remember, I asked you to check on the place”, Penny crossed her arms and leaned against the bar counter with an amused smile. “Where did Jake come from?”, she added.
“He, uhm, he just happened to be at the diner I was at when you, uhm, you called me and he offered to drive me here”, you stammered your way through the sentence and rubbed your forehead. “Oh my, Y/N, don’t tell me you fell for a naval aviator?”, Jimmy joked and put his hands on his hips with a laugh as he watched you squirming in your spot.
“And Hangman of all people”, Penny said and looked at you with a little bit of concern.
“No, it’s not…we’re not…I’m…Hey, what is happening here?”, you asked confused and looked between Penny and Jimmy. “We’re just looking out for you, darling”, Jimmy said. “Yes, we just want you to be careful with him”, Penny added and it felt like you were talking to your parents all of a sudden.
“Nothing happened between me and Jake”, you told them. Apart from an amazing kiss and longing looks on your part before you got out of his car.
Jimmy and Penny kept looking at you with concern and almost a hint of pitty. “Stop it, you two!”, you called out and walked out from behind the bar. “I’m doing inventory”, you announced as you walked over to the door leading to the little hallway. “But we weren’t even open yesterday”, Penny replied and you could hear the smile in her voice. “I’m double-checking”, you countered and pushed the door open with your hands and a bright red face.
Jake and the others didn’t come in that night and you thought that Penny and Jimmy have had enough fun on your expense. But when Jake and some guys you hadn’t seen before, apart from Coyote, all in their khaki uniforms, came to the bar the following night, you could feel Penny’s and Jimmy’s eyes practically burning a hole in the back of your head.
When Jake entered the bar, you could feel his presence almost immediately, even though you were in the middle of taking orders. As you looked up, you saw him looking over the crowd of the bar, your eyes meeting for a mere second. And then him and his friends just walked straight over to the pool table, settling down in their corner.
You felt your heart beating a little faster now knowing that he was in your vicinity. It didn’t take long for Coyote to come over to the bar, ordering 4 beers for the little group. You would be lying if you said you weren’t a little disappointed that Jake didn’t come over to the bar himself, just to say hello.
You made small talk with Coyote as you opened the bottles and handed him his order.
You kept looking over to the pool table while you worked, ignoring the glances of Jimmy and Penny, who were also both working behind the counter as it was a busy night. At least, your two favorite regulars, Bert and Ping Pong, were in tonight, so you had two friendly faces in the crowd, taking your mind off of Hangman from time to time.
A little while later, you caught Coyote’s look and he motioned for another round. This was it, your chance to go over there in a natural way, deliver their order and maybe strike up a conversation with Jake.
You weaved your way through the crowd, balancing the four beers on your trey. “Here are you drinks, gentlemen”, you announced as you arrived at the pool table. “Thanks, Y/N”, Coyote said, the other two nodding at you as you handed them their drinks.
“Here’s your beer, Hangman”, you said as you held out his drink to him. Your heart started to beat a little faster. You smiled at him, expecting some kind of special interaction like a genuine smile, the exchange of a few words or at least a decent hello. But he barely looked at you when he grabbed his beer from your hand, seemingly trying his best not to touch your fingers.
He went straight back to the game of pool he was playing with the guys. You waited for a few seconds but no one said something, Jake didn’t even look at you.
When it got too awkward for you, you decided that you had embarrassed yourself enough and walked over to a different table, taking orders. You wished the ground would just open up and swallow you whole. So much for a reality check.
What the hell was wrong with him? He was acting like he didn’t know you at all, didn’t even speak to you. Even when you two practically hated each other, you exchanged some banter or at least some vulgarities. But now he didn’t even acknowledge your presence.
“Are you okay, Y/N?”, Penny asked and pulled you out of your thoughts. You were preparing drinks in autopilot-mode. “Yeah, I’m fine”, you said in a stone-cold tone. “Uh-oh”, Penny commented. “What happened?”, she added. “Nothing”, you replied. And that was the problem.
“You want to talk about it?”, she asked you and you shivered from the pitiful tone her voice was laced with. “No”, you answered.
“Who’s next?”, you quickly asked the customers in front of you before Penny could ask another question.
Later that night, you were clearing a table close to the pool table. Jake and his friends were still playing, not seeing you. You overheard Coyote talking to Jake about a girl that was seemingly flirting with him and he didn’t seem to care while you collected glasses off the empty table. The new guy joked that he probably didn’t want to make you mad as his source of drinks.
“What do you mean?”, Coyote asked instead of Jake. “The bartender clearly has a crush on Hangman. Looking over all the time, always needing to know where her Hangman is”, the guy rambled on, making sweet eyes at Hangman, clearly mocking you as he laughed.
Were you really looking over that often? Probably, but you didn’t think anyone had noticed. Jake certainly didn’t. But that guy didn’t know what had happened between Jake and you. But Jake did.
“Y/N?”, Jake asked while planning his next shot, almost sounding like he had never heard your name before. “Yeah, she likes you”, Coyote confirmed and from where you stood, you could see him wiggle his eyebrows at Hangman. “Everybody likes me, I’m fucking awesome”, Jake said and bent down to take a shot. You rolled your eyes in your little hiding spot. You knew you should just leave, but you couldn’t move.
“She certainly makes a big impression”, the guy said and the way he emphasized on the word big made you swallow hard. “She can be glad if you even look her way, man. Shit, she’s lucky if anyone looks her way”, the guy continued. Jake came around the pool table, thinking about his next shot. Unknowingly, he was standing pretty much in front of you, his back turned your way, only a person standing between the two of you that was scrolling on their phone.
“I don’t know what she’s hoping for. It’s not like he’s gonna hook up with her”, the guy contemplated out loud. “No way! Seresin doesn’t do fatties”, the other guy said with a chuckle. His comment felt like a punch to the gut. You started to feel sick but you still couldn’t manage to walk away.
“She’s just the girl behind the bar, nothing more”, Hangman finally said something, but not in the way you had hoped. “Not my type”, he said dryly as he bent down to take his next shot. And another punch to the gut.
His eyes watched the targeted ball falling into the desired pocket hole. “But she’s cute when she tries”, Jake added with a cocky chuckle as he stood up again, looking at the table in front of him. That’s how he didn’t notice the person standing between the two of you walking away and you had clear view of his back.
Coyote, who was standing across from Hangman noticed you and the smile dropped from his face. “Hangman”, he fake-coughed and nodded in your direction. Jake turned around and as soon as he saw you standing there, his smile dropped from his face. It was clear from the expression on your face that you had heard every word that had been spoken between the four guys. You felt the tears rushing to your eyes, starting to restrict your view.
You stood there with the full trey in your hands and didn’t know what to do or say. Jake’s mouth opened and then closed again.
Like someone had snapped you back to reality, you turned around and walked back to the bar counter as fast as the trey full of glasses in your hands allowed you. Just as you put them down in the spot for the dirty dishes, Jake arrived at the counter.
“Y/N, hey, come on”, he said and rested his hands on the bar top, supporting his weight. “Oh, so you can talk to me”, you threw at him as you turned around and looked at him. “We’re just talking between men, a little ego talk, don’t make such a big deal out of it”, he told you. He really had the nerve to not only not apologize to you about what had happened, he even tried to make you feel bad about your reaction. The gutting feeling you had experienced before turned into anger.
Penny was just about to hand Ping Pong his drink, when you snatched it out of her hand and threw the liquid into Jake’s face.
“Oh, I hope I didn’t leave a big dent in your ego just now. You know, because of my big impression”, you said in a mocking tone. You slammed the glass down on the bar and loosened the knot on your apron, ripping it off your hips. “I’m taking my ten”, you announced towards Penny, who was standing next to you, watching the scene that had just unfolded in front of her. “You can take that out of my paycheck”, you told her before you made your way towards the storage room. “I’m sure he deserved it”, you heard her say before you walked around the counter.
“Y/N”, Jake called out once again. “God, what’s her problem?”, he huffed out, talking to himself out loud. He grabbed some napkins that were placed on the counter and wiped his face dry. “I think I’m looking at it”, Penny said and gave Hangman a stern look.
“She’s just overreacting”, Jake said as he looked at the door you had just left through. “In all the weeks I’ve come to known Y/N I know one thing for certain. She’s not someone to overreact”, Penny lectured him while preparing Ping Pong a new drink. “She is…”, Jake started but got interrupted.
“You better choose your next words very carefully, son”, Ping Pong warned Hangman. “From one naval aviator to the other, this is the moment where you punch out ‘cause your jet’s taking a dive”, Bert added and took a sip of his drink.
Hangman looked at the two retired aviators irritated as he didn’t know about your connection to these men.
“Hangman!”, Coyote shouted from the pool table. Hangman wanted to say something but then he just shook his head, turned around and walked back over to his friends.
Penny looked over to the door to the little hallway, contemplating if she should go after you but you made it clear that you needed a moment alone and it was still too busy to leave Jimmy alone behind the bar.
Out of the corner of her eyes she saw Hangman and his friends leave. Not a minute later, you came back out, putting your apron on as you walked over and grabbed a trey off the counter without saying a word.
Penny and Jimmy exchanged a concerned look but didn’t say anything about Hangman or the drink throw for the rest of the night. Ping Pong and Bert left an extra big tip for you before they left.

whumptober 2023 masterlist
summary: family can be a lot, especially around the holidays, and it's okay to take a break when it gets too much... sometimes you just need quiet, and that's okay.

“Okay, so what do I need to know about your family?” Jake asked Sarah as they got ready.
She laughed as she curled her hair, “Well, first thing is, you never bring up the Longhorns. That alone is a death sentence.” Jake chuckled and nodded as he looked through his clothes for a shirt, “Noted. Anything else?”
Sarah sighed a little, “The house is gonna get pretty cramped. So it can get hot in the house, and it won’t take long for it to get loud. I know you come from a big family too, probably bigger since both sides are big, but you usually have it in a bigger house than this. And we might have about 20-40 people in this house, so it might get crowded.”
Jake nodded, “Got it.” He came over and kissed her head, “I’m really excited to meet them. And apologize for not being at Thanksgiving.” She hummed softly and turned to peck his lips, “You had to go back to base, they’ll understand.”
He smiled and pecked her lips again and again before moving to go take a shower while Sarah got dressed.

A few hours later, Jake was pulling into Sarah’s aunt’s driveway and parking next to her sister’s truck.
“Alright, hopefully they like me,” Jake chuckled, squeezing Sarah’s hand. She smiled at him, “I don’t think you have anything to worry about, Cowboy.”
He pecked her lips before getting out and racing around the truck to get to her side before she could open her door.
“Such a gentleman,” she giggled as he helped her out of his truck. “Anything for you, Sugar,” he said with a wide smile before kissing her forehead. She kissed his cheek and they both grabbed the things they brought before heading inside.
Sarah walked in first, thanking Jake as he held open the glass door for her.
She turned and waited for him to join her before announcing their arrival.
“Oh, well look who’s here! And she brought a friend.”
Sarah laughed, “Hi Aunt San.” She gave her aunt a hug before turning to Jake, “This is Jake, he’s my boyfriend.” Her aunt’s eyes widened a little, “This is your pilot?” Sarah nodded and felt Jake come up behind her. “Jake, this is my Aunt San.” He smiled and gave her a hug, “It’s nice to finally meet you.” His eyes scanned the house, “And it seems I have plenty of people to meet.”
Aunt San nodded, “You sure do, but I’m first so that’s what’s important.”
Sarah rolled her eyes and laughed, “Oh um, Jake has the food, will you show him to the kitchen while I put the gifts up?” “Oh of course, follow me Jake.”
Jake nodded and followed Sarah’s aunt to the kitchen as she went to the living room.
As she walked into the room she smiled and greeted everyone, talking as she put the presents in the respective bins.
She glanced around, finding very little room to sit and feeling that pressure building in her chest already. Seriously Sarah, you just got here, she thought to herself as the voices started to muddle together.
Sending a smile to everyone, she left to go find Jake so she could do the rounds of hellos and introduce him to her family before they started to eat.

It didn’t take long after their arrival for dinner to start. After that they played bingo until all the gifts were gone and then they brought out other games while eating the rest of the finger foods that were left.
Jake and Sarah sat at the table, Jake playing spoons with Sarah’s uncles, her sister, Elizabeth, and a few of her cousins. Sarah was just sitting there next to him, resting against him and watching the game and drinking ice water.
At first he thought nothing of it, thinking that she was only talking when she addressed to not mess up his game and distract him. But she was unusually flushed, fanning herself a few times and pulling her hair off her neck into a bun. She was taking deep calculated breaths, he could feel her chest moving against his arm.
But when she sat up and started to shake out her hands, popping her knuckles and flexing her fingers, he knew something was off.
“Sugar… are you alright?” Jake asked her quietly as Elizabeth was shuffling the cards and setting the spoons back up. “Mhm,” she nodded, not looking up from where she was picking at her nails. “You sure?” “Yeah, I’m fine.”
She was mumbling, and if Jake knew anything it was that if Sarah mumbled… she wasn’t fine.
He went to say something else but was dealt a hand and the next game started.
This round he’s distracted. Glancing between his cards and her the whole time, picking up on her rhythmically tapping her fingers on her thumbs – index to pinky then pinky to index. She was inhaling through her nose and out through her mouth as her eyes stayed on the table.
Before he can say anything, the sounds of flat palms smacking the kitchen table and then a few loud shouts and laughs from those that managed to get a spoon.
Jake’s attention is pulled to that, realizing that he missed getting a spoon. But he didn’t really care, something was up with his girlfriend and she wasn’t telling him.
“Dang… that’s alright, I was getting tired of winning anyway,” Jake commented, toothpick moving to the side of his mouth as he chuckled and tossed his cards down. The table laughed and set up another round.
As they did this, Jake turned to Sarah to talk to her but found her getting up and walking towards the front door, attempting to discreetly wipe her eyes but Jake noticed it.
Confused, Jake turned to Elizabeth, “Hey, do you know what’s wrong? I asked but she said she was fine…” She sighed, “I think she’s just a little overwhelmed, it happens.” Jake nodded, humming to himself and he looked over to the door, thinking of how he could help.

Sarah sat down on the porch swing, trying to delicately wipe her tears so she didn’t smudge her makeup.
“Damn it…” She swore under her breath, shaking her hands out and trying to calm down.
She hated that this happened more often than she would like to admit. She loved being with her family, but sometimes it was just too much.
With everyone having to be close and everyone talking, it got hot quickly and it got loud.
Now she could handle loud, she was a coach – loud things weren’t uncommon. But it was loud conversations. Her brain was trying to listen to everyone and it all just muddled in her mind and it affected everything else.
Sometimes the lights would be too bright or the different scents of food mingling made her brain foggy, that mixed with the heat and the volume of the room – it was too much stimulation at once.
So she always just went outside, letting Arkansas’s freezing December weather bite the heat off her skin. It wasn’t loud outside either, just the muffled sounds of people talking inside and the cars on the highway in front of the house.
She sat there for a few minutes, her eyes closed and she tried to take even breaths and keep the tears in their ducts.
But then she heard the door open and looked over to see Jake come out, holding his Carhartt coat in his hand.
“Hey,” he greeted gently, coming over to her on the bench. “What’s wrong?” Sarah shook her head as she moved on the bench to give him room. “It’s nothi-”
“Sarah, I know you. What’s wrong?”
She sighed and let her head fall into her hands as Jake sat next to her. He rubbed her back, waiting patiently for her to talk.
“It’s too much. It’s really loud and really hot and there’s a lot of smells, the lights are too damn bright… I just…” She sighed, tears slipping down her face as she leaned on Jake’s shoulder as she talked.
“I just need quiet…”
Jake nodded, resting his cheek on her head, “I understand. I can go back–” “No, please stay…” He nodded again and put an arm around her back and on the arm rest. Using his other hand, he pulled Sarah’s legs into his lap.
He held up his jacket, inside facing the both of them. “Put your arm in the sleeve,” he told her, nodding to the sleeve hole closest to her. “What, w-” “Trust me, just do it,” he said with a playful grin.
Sarah sighed and slid her arm in the sleeve, looking at Jake to see him doing the same thing.
Jake then gently pushed her head into his shoulder and kissed her forehead.
“Jake… Darlin’, what are you doing?”
“You need quiet, so we’re gonna have quiet… now shhh and just snuggle.”
She couldn’t help but giggle as she inhaled the faint scent of hay, leather, bergamot, and whiskey that seemed infused with the fibers of the jacket. The scent that always seemed to calm her down.
“Thank you, Jake…”
“I love you, Sugar.”
“I love you too, Cowboy.”

a start the new year right moodboard
If his expression now was any indication, you and Jake had very different conceptions of flirting. “Look,” you said, before he could say whatever he was hyping himself up to say, “this is probably a lot more complicated than either of us were prepared for. So, it’s the New Year…we could start it how we want the year to go.” Jake’s shoulders relaxed slightly, and he smiled softly, a sweet expression on his face. He turned his head to kiss the palm of the hand you had looped around his neck. “Cuddling,” he said, at the same time you announced, “Orgasms.”

This chapter make me wanna take a nice cold shower, and also I'm still liking the fact that Jake is being the southern gentleman that he is that he still teaching some "baby steps" Cal about sex but not treating her like a baby.

Merry Christmas Lieutenant (J.Seresin)
Pairing: Jake Seresin x female reader
Word Count: 1440 (ish)
A/N: Written for @sailor-aviator’s Christmas Writing Challenge. My word was candy cane. To be super honest, I completely forgot I had to write this until last night and went through about 5 ideas before I landed on this today. Thanks to @buckysdollforlife for the quick beta-ing they did earlier. Part of the Jake & Dewey ‘Verse. GIF by @babyrooster
Dividers by: @saradika (Go check out her others, they're awesome!!!)
Warnings: Super fluffy and honestly? The most suggestive thing I’ve written…ever. So yeah, implied future smut I guess?
Masterlist
MERRY CRISIS EVERYONE!!!
When you’d told Jake that your favorite thing about Christmas was candy canes and other peppermint flavored things, you didn’t think he’d go this hard with it.
On December 1st, you shambled into the kitchen to see Jake standing at the island with a steaming mug in his hand and a big smile on his face.
“Merry Christmas sweetheart.” He leaned down to press a kiss to your lips and when you pulled away, you took a sip of your coffee.
“Jake! You made me a Peppermint Mocha?!”
“Of course I did, it’s your favorite.”
“Maybe you should change your callsign to 'Starbies'.”
On December 2nd, you woke to find a big bag of the Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares on your nightstand with a short note I love you so much baby. Enjoy your minty snack!
You took the bag with you to work and shared the love with your coworkers. On your lunch hour, you headed over to the Exchange to meet up with Bob for lunch and shared some with him, giving him extra to share with the other Daggers.
“Hey Bobbers? Could you give Jake something extra for me please?”
“Sure Dew, what is it?” You planted a kiss on Bob’s cheek and he turned red and smiled. “I can’t guarantee he’s going to appreciate it as much since it’s not coming from you.”
It went like that for the next week or so. Candy cane themed gifts for you every day. Knee high socks covered in candy canes, some earrings you’d seen on TikTok, all kinds of candies that were putting out their peppermint flavored things.
Two weeks before Christmas, Jake came home with news that he and the other Daggers (Mav included) were going to be gone until a few days before the holiday to several Naval Air Stations starting in New Jersey and ending back home in San Diego. You didn’t know all the facts, because all Jake could tell you was that it had to do with the Uranium Mission (since you were Mickey’s only family and Jake’s partner, Mav had said that all you could really know was that it was dangerous and that the squad called it the Uranium Mission).
Jake promised his gifts would keep going in his absence, even when you told him they didn’t need to.
The first day he was gone, you went to the Hard Deck to have dinner with Halo, a recent friend. Halo waved when she saw you walk in and you joined her at the end of the bar, where you greeted Penny.
“Hey Pen, missing Mav already?”
“Always do”, she replied with a smile. After you and Halo gave her your dinner order, she placed a glass down in front of you.
“What’s this?”
“Hangman asked me to get you a peppermint flavored drink every time you come in while they’re all gone.” She pulls a mini-candy cane from under the bar and sticks it in the glass. “This here is a Peppermint Piña Colada. Enjoy.”
“What’s with all the peppermint?” asked Callie.
“Last month, I told Jake that one of my favorite things about Christmas was candy canes and peppermint flavored stuff. Since December 1st, he’s given me something peppermint flavored or candy cane themed every single day.” You took a sip of your drink, “Oof…that’s actually better than I thought it would be.”
“Oh. So that’s why Hangman asked me to give you this.” Callie pulled a small red and white gift bag from the bar stool beside her and slid it your way. “He said to tell you not to open it until tomorrow though.”
“Ugh! But I want to open it now!”
“He said, and I quote: ‘One a day Dewey, that’s the rule. Be a good girl and follow the rules.’” Callie made a face like she wanted to vomit. “I don’t kink shame, but I did not need to know that.”
You’re not sure how long you laughed after that.
The next day, Callie came to visit you at the library.
“So, what was in the bag?” she asked. “Wait. After that message, I’m not sure I want to know.” You gave a small laugh as you placed two small spray bottles on your desk.
“He got me hand sanitizer spray in Twisted Peppermint from Bath & Body Works. One for the office and one to carry in my bag.”
“Can I have some?”
“Sure!” You give her a couple sprays and she rubbed her hands together.
“This smells awesome. Like I’d dipped my hands in Christmas or something.”
While he was gone, Jake had cookies from Tiff’s Treats (a dozen minty chocolate) delivered, a box of only peppermint chocolates from Copper Coast Confections, a new red and white striped apron from Hedley & Bennett with your name embroidered on the front. After watching Next Level Chef a few months ago, you’d expressed to him how you wanted an apron from H&B one day and that it might take you a while because they were pretty expensive. You couldn’t believe he’d remembered. After that, when you invited Callie and Penny over and the three of you would cook or bake together, you smiled big as you sported your new apron.
Finally, the day Jake and the rest of the Daggers were due home arrived. They weren’t due until late afternoon, so you changed in your office at the library. You wore your candy cane earrings, striped Santa hat, bright red lipstick with peppermint gloss, and made sure your new manicure (candy cane themed of course) shone brightly.
You stood with Penny and the other families that waited for their sailors. You hugged Bob and Phoenix when they walked over to you guys and when Reuben and your brother arrived, they both gave you a big wet kiss on either cheek. Distracted as you were wiping your cheeks off while laughing, you didn’t see or hear Jake approaching.
“What are you doin’ givin’ my girl kisses, Payback?”
“JAKE!” You whirled around with a scream.
“Hey sweetheart.” You practically jumped into his arms and pulled his face to yours (thank goodness for long lasting liquid lipsticks!). Jake took it a step further and dipped you backwards while still kissing you…like that sailor kissing a nurse in New York City on VJ Day in 1945.
“What am I?” you heard Mickey ask. “Chopped liver?”
Later that night, you were in bed reading while Jake finished his shower. You could smell the shower gel he used because it was one he’d gotten you while he was gone (a delicious pepperminty scent from LUSH), and he finally emerged from the bathroom in a peppermint scented cloud.
“Boy, am I happy to be home.”
“I’m glad you’re home too, Jake.” You pecked him on the lips when he leaned down over you. “I missed you and even though I loved absolutely everything you got me--especially the candy cane themed flower bouquet--none of it replaces having you here with me.”
“You sap.”
“Shut up. You love how sappy I am.”
“True.” He put on his sleep pants and got in bed next to you. “Do you want today’s present?”
“I thought you were today’s present?”
“I’m just the bonus”, he said with his traditional Jake Seresin smile (it was your favorite of his smiles).
“Then gimme!” You put your book down and made grabby hands at him.
“Here you go m’darlin.” He handed you a small box with a red and white bow on it.
“Jake. Jake. This isn’t…?”
“No, it isn’t. I wouldn’t do that without Mickey being present.”
“Oh okay. It’s not that I don’t want to…”
“Baby, don’t worry, I understand.”
“I love you.”
“I know.” He winked at you and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes.
“Nerd.” You turn back to the small box and open it. Inside was a necklace with a small ruby and diamond encrusted candy cane on it. “Holy shit.”
“I take it that means you like it.”
“I love it Jake.” You settle onto his lap and kiss him. When you pull apart, he takes the necklace from the box and moves to put it on you. “Thanks cowboy. I think this is going to beat one of my gifts to you for sure.”
“Oh? Do tell.” You hop off his lap and run into your closet. A few minutes later, you emerge wearing your new candy cane themed robe and your necklace.
“I wanted to put on my necklace and see what you think about how it looks.”
“Let’s see it.” Jake’s jaw drops comically when you throw off your robe, because standing in front of him is you. In your necklace.
Just your necklace.
“Merry Christmas Lieutenant.”

Flumpy part one ( jake seresin x reader )
SUMMARY: The dagger squad all were wondering who the mysterious figure was in one of the rooms in the base only to discover to bradley's explaining it was pete maverick mitchell's kid with out seeing them fully before leaving jake makes a comment he will in future regret . y/n doesn't let the man off light with the comment either .
warning : enemies to lovers kinda , straight up self indulgent writing so soz slight comedic feel although that just my opinion ( sorry)
They gather in a curious bundle , looking in a the figure Head down on table large hood covering everything from head up as they tried to figure who it was that was well they hope was a sleep since the said figure hasn't moved .
" you sure they're alive they literally haven't moved in what ten minutes or more" one whispered.
" they allowed to be in here i mean what if its a civilian" another gulped.
" i mean they could be a bum" the tall blonde mused.
" hey what you standing around for" roosters head tilted looking at his squad members.
" there's a possible dead bum or civilian in there or dead civilian bum" fanboy looked into the room eye widening at such a possibility. Only bradley knew , his lips twitched in amusement at his friends assumption .
" nah that just mavs kid , must of fell asleep waiting" he explained as they looked more.
" jesus who would of thought mavs offspring would be flumpy there" jake grimaced .
" flumpy what are you twelve" phoenix rolled her eyes only for the figure to scoff.
" cyclone is looking for you bagman" rooster cleared his throat remembering why he was there in first place .
"Course he is needs a real man's help huh , see yall , bye flumpy" he called loudly as the figure head started to rise .
A quick nod to Pete as he passed yet their eyes all focused as the figure yawned and stretched out . Pulling the hood down to reveal the figure was a woman , a beautiful woman at that.
" hey kiddo sorry I got held up you ready" Mav smiled as she stood stretching aching muscle .
" ready as i'll ever be plus don't worry about it i got some z's"she smiled only seeing a group of new faces well not exactly new but in person new. " oh shit did you guys need the room , bradshaw you told me it was free" she glared at the man a comical sight giving their size difference.
" pretty girl you should of just went back to my place if you were tired... not like that you filthy people she like a sister to me" .
" i wouldn't be so tired if i had slept on way here but no someone a singing driver , i wanted to kick you in your great balls of fire" she grumbled.
" stop being so mean i gave you my hoody when you were cold little shit" he shot back .
" do i need to put you kids in time out" mav asked.
" you going hard deck tonight" bradley rolled his eyes.
" nah i need to unpack and sleep more" .
" she coming beach tomorrow since she's our new mechanic get to know you all" mav spoke up ignoring the glare she sent his way.
" beach tomorrow apparently also hi i'm Y/N" She turned holding her hand out to the group as the boys started pushing each other to be the one shake her hand only in their antic phoenix got in there .
" natasha trace but you can call me nat or phoenix" she smiled proudly getting their first.
"Well nice to meet you i already know who you all are from the glowing reviews i got from the two old men there" she chuckled shaking their hands.
" so where were stationed before here?" fanboy bashful spoke up goofy grin as she looked at him.
" oh i'm not in any form of military i got clearance and a civilian contract life of a navy nepo baby" . " come on we show her around the hangar" mav called all following behind .
She didn't need to see the hangar not when she been in it a billion times before during her childhood . following in the footstep of her mom charlie blackwood being a civilian contractor was a little surreal maybe because rooster was also there it was like they were the new generation . both legendary parents but she couldn't take the extra steps trying to be in her dad's shadow, that would of never worked although it seemed anything that could fly was a great love must of been genetics in this case.
" well as i live and breathe y/n it good to have you on board" she turned to see admiral beau simpson sauntering over towards her .
" admiral nice to see you again" she nodded politely not little how the man was looking at her .
" pleasure is all mine sweetheart if i'd known you'd be here i would of gave you the private tour" he almost purred as her own face scrunched up.
" i got her plus i need her check out phoenix jet for the test runs on monday so she's a little busy at the moment admiral" pete mitchell stood in front of her easily also not liking the way the older man was looking at his daughter.
" phoenix could you show me the way please oh admiral tell that darling wife of yours i say hi" she walked of linking arms with the female aviator .
" would that be all sir" rooster asked . " yes erm i forgot i got a meeting , rooster i got hangman in the end" he said making a slightly quicker exit.
" so what's the problem or did my dad make it up" she asked looking at the jet itching to get working .
" sort of shaky on the landing and steering is a bit stiff it can wait til monday really i think your dad just used.. And she gone" she watched the new woman in the hanger climbing up to assess everything out.
" i shouldn't of said anything" mav laughed knowing what his daughter was like.
" roo here" she called pulling the hoodie off only to hear metal clanging . " oh this place never changes" she shook her head seeing the men looking at her in awe.
It seemed as though everyone in the base had a reason to be in the hanger that morning , some excuses were almost believable others not so much when a recruit handed rooster a stapler insisting they needed it for any reason .
" nice to have a fellow female in her really was being a meat fest and don't even getting started on the pissing contest some of these guys can have"nat called .
" definitely hasn't change" y/n shook her head . " i mean between rooster and hangmans ego's then moment their on the ground best friends it's whiplash at best" .
" hangman? Blonde guy wonder if he's the one that called me flumpy" she mused with a giggle .
" you heard that huh?" .
" loud and clear what an asshole" she checking thing over before moving on to next part.
" i'm sure he'll take it back when he see's you" nat whispered almost reveling to see hangman's reaction to it all .
" hey need help" the guys called.
" nope it's all good i'm actually finished but thank you" she climbed down covered in grease and oil but she didn't mind .
" please come the hard deck so i can get you drink fixing my baby" nat smiled hopefully.
" no can do i need a shower , nap and unpack but i will see you all at beach tomorrow right" she asked all nodding away eagerly.
" you ever play dogfight football" bob asked slightly surprised at his own bravery to talk to the pretty lady .
" oh i'm not even attempting to play that i got a book with my name on it while you guys get all sweaty also stealing nat so i'm not on my own" she smirked .
" i'm fine with that" nat high fived her whilst sticking her tongue out at the others .
"come on you we get you home" maverick lead her out.
" no one tell hangman" was all nat said once they were gone all silently agreeing wanting to see hangman's reaction to the real flumpy .
The moment he stepped on base all he heard was his fellow officers gossiping like little girls usually he would of rolled his eyes and scoffed at the immaturity but jake seresin was always a sucker for pretty face and now he was full fledged curious .
" i think she'll be at hard deck i hope she is" he heard passing by yale . smiling like cat got the cream knowing it was no contest to who was going to get the girl .
" well look who finally showed his face , mav just left that long ago needing to drop his kid home" nat said almost too sweetly although his mind was elsewhere.
" great flumpy's gone anyways you guys heard or seen the smoke show , how true to the scale is she hot" he asked .
" lava like burn through anything hot" Javy spilled out as rooster tried not to react .
" well i guess i'll know later when i'm buying her a drink tonight i'll let you know how hot she is tomorrow though" he winked heading into the locker rooms.
" who's gonna break it to him" payback asked.
" no one dare say a word think of it as my christmas present" nat rubbed her hands together all heading to get changed and ready to have a few drinks after long day .
It was safe to say jake was annoyed the next morning , the mysterious hotty never showed at the bar so he couldn't brag like he wanted which in turn had the gang busting his balls for the forward assumption . it didn't help they were doing it all way to the beach or when he was helping set up the table for the food that was coming but he also had to listen to hear how cool mavericks offspring was maybe he was wrong about the dude or whatever then he start thinking flumpy was why the hot girl was there since they both showed up on same day which irritated him a little more then he cared to think . when he saw the hottest girl he'd ever seen like show stopping hot walk on the beach maybe he could get over the whole thing by getting her. He wasn't going to just go over no he pretend to throw rooster the ball only for it to land right near the woman . " don't worry i'll get it" he winked and strolled over so cocky and confident . sunglasses hid how his eyes raked over her the sundress that hugged her body like a damn glove , like it was made for her and her only . how her hair flowed messily down her back or how it fell to the front as she picked up the ball . " sorry ma'am my friend there can't seem to catch a ball" he stood a little taller , tensed his muscle a little knowing the ladies loved it. She looked over at rooster eyebrows raised before throwing the ball to him.
" looks like he's not so bad at all" she said walking with her towel under her arms ready to set it up .
" or maybe he wanted to impress you" jake followed .
" or you got a shit throw" she said placing her things down placing the towel on the warm sand before pulling the sundress over her head to reveal the red bikini that sat under it .
" hey kid you wanna help penny carry down the food before you get all comfortable" mav called
. " sure thing old man" she walked off leaving jake coming to a horrible realisation.
" was that?" he asked his fellow squad members.
" flumpy" the all called back" with shit eating grins .
"oh and hangman she heard you say it" nat cackled as his face completely dropped .
With the bragging right now and truly down the toilet giving as she wouldn't even look so much as his direction although . hell it seemed baby on board was in with more of a shot then he was. He was also now a fan of don't judge the book without fully seen cover that was his first mistake. Damn the cover was just his style that was for sure.
" just give up hangman , she not into you , you've ruined your chance" payback smirked as they began loading their plates .
" oh don't you worry boys i will have her eating out palm of hand and sweating for more" he laughed only they we're not laughing .
" man shh" javy whispered eyes darting behind the texan.
" what you know it i will have her riding me like a bull at a rodeo by the nights end" only instead of continuing a clearing of a throat .
" excuse me" she pushed past loading her own plate.
" darling how much of that did you hear" he winced .
" enough you tell you that i'd rather starve then eat from palm of your hand and walk to china the ride in your rodeo cowboy" she scoffed walking off sitting down on her towel picking up her book and completely ignoring the fact that jake seresin existed . which only to his torture while he was playing pool she was chatting away to some of the guys at the bar. He watched as the fawned and flirted with her , dropping their best lines while she let them think she was lapping it up , oh she was good he would give her that.
" your not gonna give up are you" coyote asked .
" not by long shot" jake smirked potting his winning ball .

Wet Dreamz (Jake 'Hangman' Seresin X Robert 'Bob' Floyd X Koko)
Warnings: Sexy Smut, Mentions Of Bisexually, Hint Of Insecurity Bout Dentures, Threesome, Wet Dreams and Viewer Discretion Is Advised 🔞
One night, you and Bobby went to bed after you put Anastasia down for bedtime, y'all went to sleep, so while you sleeping, you been dreaming about no other than: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin (the godfather of your daughter and your best friend). And yes even though it's kinda wrong but you couldn't help that he is a handsome man: gorgeous face, nice body to look at, easy on the eyes, and that southern accent you can't help but fell in love with when you first met him with that charm of his. So while dreaming, you wake up in the bed with no clothes on and it's didn't dom on you that you in Jake's room because of his room is full of Texan stuff (especially his Longhorn jersey and his collection of cowboy hats), so as the door opens, you saw almost all his glory in his boxers standing there while your jaw is dropping:
"Hey, darlin," like what you see?" He has a smirk on his face.
"Yes, yes I do." You still in shocked.
So he crawled into the bed towards you, and he looked into your brown eyes, and you said:
"Jakee" you said to him in quietly manner.
"Tell me what you want, sweets." He has a grin on his features.
Then, you starting to feel something wet is because he makes you shiver the way he talks to you, no other man would.
"Oh, baby, you wet for me, all this time you been thinking about me, so I'm gonna give it to you what you want." And so he starting to kiss you, on the neck, on your breasts and you starting to shaking a little bit, because how he touches you. So right before he goes down on you, your husband is calling your name:
"Koko, Koko, KOKO!!!"
"Huh? Oh shit!" You waking from your sleep, and come to realization that you wet the bed.
"I'm so sorry Bobby, this is my fault, babe." You were embarrassed.
"That okay, hun, I know you didn't mean it." He understands.
"Okay, but hey, I'm gonna check on Ana, alright?"
"All right, my love." He changed the sheets.
So it's morning time, and Bob just already got up and getting ready to go to work, while you is fixing some breakfast for Anastasia and Bobby knows you not yourself this morning so he ask her what on her mind:
"Hey, you all right?" He ask
"Yeah, just lot on my mind, babe that all."
"Well do you wanna talk about it when I come back home?"
"Yes, I would like that."
"Okay, sweet girl, but hey I talk to you later when I'm getting back home, okay? Love you." He kisses you on your forehead and Anastasia's as well.
"Okay, love you too baby."
So, while your husband at work, you doing some cleaning, changing some diapers for Ana, making sure the bills pay, so after you did all that, your mind is still lingering about your sexy dreams about Jake, so you were about text Jake or Bob about your confession but you just decided to wait till Bobby comes home tell him everything. So after your husband did come home from Top Gun, you greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the lips.....
"Honey, I'm home." Bob greeted in the house.
"Hey baby boy, how is work?" You ask him bout his day.
"It's interesting but same, so how yours today?" He asked
"It's was fine, and Anastasia is still sleeping. I'm just fed her."
"Well, that good."
"Yeah, but hey, can we talk since you home now? You ask to talk to him.
"Yeah, sure."
So as y'all two sit down in the kitchen table and you starting to speak:
"Okay, remember I have had an accident in the bed since this morning?"
"Yeah, what about it?" He has a concern on his face.
"Well, I've had a weird dream since last night."
"With who?" He wants to know.
"I'm been having dreams about Jake." You confront him about your confession.
"Since, how long you have them dreams?" He wants to know.
"Since we went to the beach and saw his shirt off." Your voice felt shaky but nervous.
"Why didn't you tell me beforehand?" He concerns.
"Because I'm was scared that you gonna leave and divorce me, and I know it's not right to daydream about another man and thinking about him sexu-"
Bob cuts her off
"Baby, you know, I'm not going anywhere, you know that, right?" He holds both your hands.
"I'm know" you nodded.
So surprisingly enough, Bob got an idea....
"But hey, look, I'm know it's out of our marriage, but I will give you a hall pass for one night only with Jake, but on one condition:"
"Okay, what is it?"
"I'm want to watch just for sexual pleasure."
"Okay, that fair." You agree with the agreement with your husband.
"So you gonna call Jake about our agreement?"
"Yeah, but I'm about to text him now."
"Okay, well, I'm gonna check on Anastasia." He went to the living room.
"Alright."
So after your confession with your husband, you are about to text Jake and ask him to come over tomorrow after work:
Koko: Hey, J, what up?
Jake: Hey, darlin, nothing much. Just got some food, and I'm home now. And what about you?
Koko: Ohh, okay, that what up, nothing much, just chilling, doing mom duties, but hey, are you busy tomorrow after work?
Jake: Ohh, okay, understandable, and no, not really. What up, though?
Koko: Can you come over at the house tomorrow and we can have a talk, please?
Jake: Yeah, sure anything for you, so what time you want me to come?
Koko: Around at 4:50
Jake: Okay, no problem, sweets, see you tomorrow.
Koko: Okay, love you cowboy. 🤠😘
Jake: Love you too darlin'.
So the following day, while Bobby is at work, you doing your housewife duties as usual, and you just waiting for the time passing by, for both of your men to get off from work, and so when Bobby, and Jake coming from work from Top Gun. You were excited to see both of them...
"Hey guys, how work today?" You greeted and hugged both of them.
"Hey Koko, how is my best friend doing today?" Jake smiles towards you.
"I'm doing fine." You give him a smile back to him.
"And how my beautiful goddaughter lately?" He asks you.
"She is doing well, and she is sleeping right now. But hey, since you are here, can we have a chat outside?"
"Yeah, sure darlin'"
So, y'all two walk outside, just to talk about your confession and you being straightforward about it.....
"Okay, since we are outside now, the reason why I'm asking you to come over since yesterday is because I'm have a confession to tell you." You wanna be honest to him.
"Okay, what is it, sweets?" He wants to know.
"Okay, so I'm been having dreams lately, and it's a weird one, but not with my husband." You talking to him while y'all walking in the neighborhood.
"Who is it?" He has concern on his features.
"You" you confess to him
Then, Jake starts to chuckle at first, and he realizes that Koko wasn't joking.....
"Oh, you really are not joking, aren't you sweets?" He was a little surprised.
"No, so that why I'm didn't tell you nor Bobby at first because I was scared you were not gonna talk to me anymore or whatever."
"Sweetheart, you my best friend, and you know I always gonna be here till the day I die, right?" He hugged you while he comforted you.
"Yeah," you nodded at him.
"So what you gonna do next?" He asks you.
"Well, Bobby, give me a hall pass for one night only."
"For what?" He has confused face.
"To have sex with you." You shrugged.
"Oh wow that different but are you sure you want do this? It's no turning back and you know that sweets, pun intended." He being genuinely honest.
"I'm know that J, and yes I'm do." You stated but you accept the agreement.
"All right, as you wish, so when we gonna do it?" He asked went & where.
"Tomorrow night, at your place at 9:00. And I'm got a babysitter for Ana as well." You tell him a time & a place.
"Okay, that fair, so that it or do you have any more secrets that I would like to know?" He wants to know.
"Well I'm do have one more thing: I'm bisexual by the way and also can you bring me a woman for us for a threesome too, please?" You confess him about your sexual orientation.
"Wow, you are full of surprises, aren't you sweets?" He have a grin on his face.
"Honey, you have no idea and hey what can I say? I'm being me." You have a smirk on your features.
And so, after y'all two have a good talk from walking around the neighborhood, Jake take you back to the house safely because it's getting dark soon, so before he leaves he went inside to see Anastasia briefly, then told Bob that he see him later, and y'all two give each other a hug and then he left to go home.....
The following night, after y'all got a babysitter for Anastasia, you and Bobby are on the way to Jake's house for a little sexy fun, so after y'all arrived at the place, you is wearing one of your graphic dresses, with your slip-on sneakers on but underneath you have on a lace black bra & panties too as well, just to try your best to look cute. And you knock on the door, immediately he answers the door:
"Hey, I'm glad y'all made it." He greeted you in his southern accent.
"Hey, I know, right? I'm just a little nervous, though, you know?
"Hey, hey, you know I got you, you have nothing to be nervous for, darlin, so come on in and make yourselves at home."
So after y'all two went inside, then you see a beautiful brunette woman with nice curvy hips, and she has on a sexy lingerie that covered her curves just bout right.
"Oh Linda, this is Koko and her husband Bob, guys. This is Linda, whom I'm met at the bar yesterday." He introduced y'all to her.
"It's nice to meet you, and you gorgeous, by the way. " You introduce yourself to her.
"Thank you, it's nice to meet you too also, and you beautiful, by the way."
So, after y'all introduced each other, y'all four went to Jake's bedroom, and y'all bout to start, and before you do, you want to say something to Bobby who is sitting down before he enjoy the show.....
"Hey Bobby, are you gonna be okay, right?"
"Baby, this is gonna be a new experience for me, and trust me, I know Jake is gonna take you the way I do, so just have fun it okay?" He said to you with love.
"Okay, love you, baby boy." You smile to him.
"Love you too." He give you a kiss.
So it's just the three of y'all standing, and so you decided to step forward to Jake to kiss him before y'all have a mutual respect for each other because y'all friends. So while kissing him, his lips taste like sweet honey because of the way he looks at you like that. And so he starting to undressed you, especially unclasped your bra, the way you standing there naked like that, Jake couldn't help that you look beautiful and the way he touches you is like electricity that no one else will besides your husband.
So Jake climbed up the bed, where you laid at he starting to do foreplay on you like kissing on your neck, kissing on your body, kissing & touching on your breasts, he starting to lick on one of your nipples and you arch your back the way he touched you like it's heaven on earth, "Jakeee" you said to him while you moaning on his name, "you look so gorgeous woman" he said to you in a genuine compliment, "tell me what you want darlin." He cooed, "I'm want you to make love with me", you said to him while you look into his beautiful emerald, but however he looked at you scanning from his green eyes he stop for a minute and asked you "what wrong darlin did I'm do something wrong?"
He asked you because he saw the little sadness on your face , "it's just that am I beautiful to you?" You asked him about your insecurities, "why you ask that, sweetheart?" He asked you with a concern face, "is because I'll have dentures, but I'm not wearing them, so I'm not beautiful without them."
"Sweetheart you're still beautiful with or without them for the moment that I'll first saw you at the bar but however it's was my first time saw you without them for the first time when you gone in labor with Ana. But look at the end of the day. I don't care whether you have dentures or not.
You are still beautiful to me, okay?" He said to you with the most genuine way with a smile on his face that made your heart skip a beat little bit and make your cheeks blush as well too because of his genuine honest opinion. So after hours y'all two looking at each other, you forgot about Linda and your husband.
"Oh shit we forgot about Linda." She fell asleep while we taking sweet time, Bob is sleep too as well, you & him are chuckling at each other that y'all taking too damn long but while y'all still in the bed, so as he kissed your palm then, out of nowhere Jake starting to fingering you in your vagina with that big hand of his and teasing you with his infamous smirk on face in a playful way and you starting to moan the way you saying his name:
"Jakeee I'ma bout t-to, bout to.", "it's okay babygirl cum for me it's alright just cum to my fingers okay?" He said to you in a low but stern voice, after you finally came for him in a loud voice of yours because you can't help it the way you make sound after you climaxed, Linda & Bob just waking up and she said "it's the party still going on?"
"Yes baby, it's still going on, and here you're dessert."
Jake said to her with the lust in his green eyes, so as she climbs to the bed where Jake & Koko at, she starts to kiss on Koko's lips, while she making out with her, she started to touch on her breasts playing with them, while Linda is using her fingers to rubbing on her clit, Jake kissing on her shoulder, it's starting to make Bob more horny than ever, his cock is starting to get hard as a rock while he watching his wife having a threesome with Jake & Linda in the bed.
So after Linda finished her making out sessions with you, the final climax of the night is when you want Jake to come inside you: "okay darlin are you ready for your gift bag?" He said to you with a grin, "yes Jake I'm ready for it." You said to him with a mischievous smirk on your face, "okay sweets", so when he take off his boxers and long be hold that his dick is big but is hard as a rock the way it's look and your jaw drop because it's just you pictured it in your head cause of the dream that you have with him wearing only his boxers and his dick is poking out like that...
So as he climbs back to his bed yall switched sides from the bed so as he laying down resting himself in between your legs making sure you felt comfortable as he put his hands around your wrist making sure you straight though, "okay sweets I'm gonna try to take it nice & slow, but try to make it painless as possible as I'm can, okay?
Now, if you want me to stop: tap my arm, but I just want to make sure you are comfortable with that all." Jake always been a gentleman even though he can be cocky but arrogant sometimes but he still do got that southern gentleman likeable which I'm really like from him plus he would do anything for you because he do have a heart. "Okay I'm trust you Jake" you said to him, he smiled down at you with a kiss on your temple so as he lining himself up to your entrance and you is wrapping your hands on both of his shoulders & back soon he's gently pushing in, you eyes is sneezing almost close the way he put your tip in you. "Ouch." You felt it as he entered you, "Are you okay?" Jake asked, "mmhm, you okay keep going, " you tell him while you mutter, "Little more baby girl, I promise hold on.
"Jake promises you. Once he bottomed out, you whimper, "Hey, hey, look at me. You know I will never hurt you, you know that, right?" He said to you with a promise, "Yeah, I know," you said to him back, "Okay, I'm gonna start moving, alright?", "Okay" you whisper.
As soon he starts his movements, he draws himself out of you as easily as he can before he's can thrust back in. You start groaning more loudly as you wrap an arm around his shoulder as he starts to move his hips around you, the pain feeling slowly transitioning into white flashes of pressure. He's stretched you out with each thrust. But he remains at the same tempo & depth. However, you can feel your insides to start beginning to shake.
"You close babygirl, you are so close," Jake muttered, "Jake I'm bou- bout to" you moan while you trying to found the words to him, "that it sweetie, you wanna come?, you can come I got you". He said to you, so as y'all climaxing, you give into the feeling that soon y'all spilling over the edge as he reaches in between of your pressed bodies and he rubs your clit for added pleasure. Jake growls in your ear as both of you kiss on the lips.
So after y'all done having sex, you, Jake, & Linda are looking at Bob with a concerned face of yours, making sure he is okay. "Bobby, hey baby, are you good, you straight?"
You said to him, "That. was. INCREDIBLE!!!" He said with an exciting shock look on his face, "wow I'm can't believe it's making me more horny after seeing this, though, but anyway, you good baby?"
He asked you, "Yeah, we're good, " you said to him back as you smiled at both of them. "Hey Koko, let me clean you up before you leave, okay?",
"Okay," you nodded, "Well, I'm bout to head out, and thanks for the fun, including you, Koko." Linda said farewell to yall, and she kissed Koko for a goodbye one more time.
So afterwards Jake cleaned you up, as y'all bout to head home Jake bout to tell you something: "hey guys", "mhmm what up love" you said to him, "I'm know y'all bout to go home to check on Ana but would be okay for y'all to stay at my place for the night because it's already getting late and I'm don't want y'all to be out this time of the night though is that okay for yall?" Jake asked y'all, "You okay with it, Bobby?" You nodded, "Yeah, sure that be okay, but how we gonna tell Rooster that we spend the night at Jake's house, they gonna think you cheated on me or else. " Bob worried, knowing the fact he babysitting y'all daughter at the house though. "Don't worry, we tell him that we check in at a hotel for the night, and nobody wouldn't know. She winks at you with a grin.
A/N: Well, I'm have to start over from a snatch, but did tweak on some things, but I hope y'all enjoy the story and sorry it's a long one-short story. 😌🫶🏾😍😏

fix you too - jake seresin ; ch 2

(loosely based on 'fix you too' - megan moroney ft. kameron marlowe)
Summary: Jake had a summer fling the year he graduated from Top Gun, but what he doesn't know is that she's still in Miramar with more than just a fleeting memory of the green eyed pilot. (multi-part series!!) Word count: 1,100+ Warnings: no use of y/n, some assumption about size, reader is gendered afab (but I promise I'm trying to get better at the neutral tone!), mentions of pregnancy/single parenting A/N: This is the first reader fic I've posted in almost 10 (!!!) years, please be gentle. (I'm rusty as F*CK) anyways, I'm head over heels for the top gun universe and my husband makes fun of me for it, so this is my creative release (: pls enjoy A/N part two: IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO POST 😭 and I know it's not very long but I'm currently writing chapter 4 already!! I've just been so absorbed in my externship that I haven't had time to share. the next few chapters will be much longer once May is over! previous chapter. next chapter.
Three years earlier…
Jake cradled the side of her face as a distant look crossed his, green eyes wandering across her features as he took a moment of pause. How the hell was he supposed to tell her that he just got an assignment for 6 months, the same length of time they've been seeing each other, and he ships off tomorrow… “I'm leaving…” His voice was low and raspy, as if he had a hard time getting the words out. His thumb grazed her cheek bone. Never had it been so hard for the lieutenant to break away from one of his flings.
She just blinked at him, her mouth falling open and closed in an attempt to make words, but nothing came. She could almost feel her heart shattering inside her chest as it began rabbiting against her ribcage. Her eyes frantically searched his face for anything else to go off of before she muttered a very reserved, “Okay.” Jake winced at how that one word felt heavier than the world, “Sweetheart, I'm so sorry.” The ocean lapping at their ankles became increasingly colder as he could feel her withdrawing. His voice wavered before he took a deep breath to continue, “It's a six month deployment, I just don't want to keep you waiting.” She bit her lips anxiously and said, "I-It’s okay, Jake. I get it.” Her hand reached up to pull his hand away from her face, her fingers lingering around his wrist for a second as she looked up at him. A chaste kiss was pressed to his cheek and she turned to walk out of the water, making her way to her SUV in the parking lot instead of gracing the bar again. Silent tears streamed down her face as she ignored Jake calling out to her from the beach, not noticing the tears also streaking his face as the one person he thought he could love forever just walked away from him…
Jake had only been ashore for a couple days now, his new assignment coming down the pipeline while he was still aboard the ship. Top Gun, special detachment, no further detail until the day of. This was just the kind of mission Jake lived for.
He smiled as he pulled into the familiar setting, parking his truck in the back forty of the lot because he didn't want to take up too much room for other patrons. The California coastal air hugged him as he pushed open the truck door. There was just something different about the sunsets on North Island that always made him feel welcomed.
Though that warm feeling quickly faltered when he looked up, and was met with the sight of an eerily familiar silver SUV parked closer to the docks. Jake shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to erase the image from his mind because he was surely dreaming right now… There's no way she's still here all these years later, right?
Jake swallowed thickly as he closed the door to his black Silverado, replacing the frown on his face with his typical cocky smile as he saw Javy wave him down from the doors of the Hard Deck. His fellow pilot had two beers in hand and was beckoning him to the dartboard.
Jake was determined not to dwell on those thoughts as the two men reminisced for a while. Even though Javy tried many times to beat the Texan pilot, even going so far to block his view… Bullseye. Every time. Jake conceded and offered to buy Coyote a beer to sooth his sore losing streak.
With a sly smile laced on his lips, Jake shook his head with a laugh and pushed through the doors of the Hard Deck so he could retrieve his wallet from his truck. Once he looked up, the air inside his lungs seized as he recognized the sight before him.
He would've known that laugh anywhere, the way the curve of her silhouette cast a shadow along the silver SUV as she busied herself in the backseat. There was no denying now that the suspicious vehicle belonged to someone he had only dreamed of seeing again. The sight made the smile vanish from his lips as he debated approaching her or just heading to his truck, the latter would've been the safest bet but he cursed internally as his feet carried him towards her.
He paused hesitantly in his pursuit when she closed the back door of her car and rounded the back side to close the hatch too. His reflection in the tinted glass caused the woman in front of him to freeze completely, the confidence in her posture quickly shrinking as she spun around and braced herself against the vehicle.
Her mouth opened to speak, but no words came out before she closed it quickly, her hand coming up to cover her mouth as she blinked back at him. Her inability to say something to him made the heartbeat in his ears unbearably loud as he took a hesitant step towards her. His eyes trailed up and down her for a moment before he said anything.
“As I live and breathe… Is that really you?” Jake asked quietly, his southern drawl was thick as he willed his voice not to crack. His heart raced and all the hairs on his body stood at attention under her panicked stare.
Her voice wavered slightly as the only word she managed to get out was his name, her expression was almost scared and it only served to make Jake's brows furrow further. She glanced nervously into the back of the SUV again, internally cursing herself and hoping that he hadn't seen her with the child, but it was in vain as his seafoam green eyes followed hers immediately.
He shifted his weight onto one foot when he returned his eyes to her face, the smallest genuine smile toying at the corners of his lips. “You look fantastic,” He drawled slightly, taking another step forward so that he was standing just a couple feet away from her. “The kiddo belong to a friend?” Jake asked softly, seeing more of the situation than she had hoped.
She laughed nervously as one of her arms snaked around her exposed mid-section, an anxiety induced habit from suddenly feeling too exposed in this swimsuit. Her other hand braced itself against the back of her vehicle, drawing absent-mindedly in the sandy bumper. “Uh, no… She's mine, actually.” Her eyes met his, her mind racing as she resisted the urge to say ‘and yours’ inside her brain.

The One I Want: Part 14
Jake "Hangman" Seresin x plus size!reader

Summary: You’re new in town and some guy named Jake is about to be your roommate. Being skeptical of new people keeps you lonely and uninterested in any entanglements, but Jake is desperate to change that.
Notes/Warnings: cursing, emotional stuff and vulnerability, fluff, angst, typos for sure, inaccurate navy stuff
Words: 2547
The One I Want Masterlist
You’re lying on the bed, facing away from the door when Jake returns to the room. He says nothing as he slips under the covers and wraps his arm around your waist, scooting himself close so your back is to his chest. He’s gentle—cautious in his movements—and you know he thinks you’re still asleep.
His hand slides over the curve of your stomach and under your t-shirt, caressing soft skin as if intending to savor the feel of you, to burn into his mind what it’s like to have you in his arms. You do the same. You want to remember being completely engulfed by him.
He kisses your bare shoulder.
“Did Millie leave?” you ask.
Jake's body stiffens behind you like the life has been sucked out of him. The expanding of his chest from his inhales and exhales has paused. His fingers don’t so much as twitch against your stomach.
He lightly clears his throat and his breath flutters the wispy hairs by your ear. “Did…did you hear us?”
“A little,” you admit, but not prepared to delve into the core of what you’d heard, you ask a safer question. “How is she this morning?”
“She’s ok.”
Jake removes his hand from your shirt to tuck those wayward hairs behind your ear, then he trails his hand back down your body. The brush of his fingertips from your neck to your shoulder and arm sprouts gooseflesh that he smoothes in some special spots by rubbing his thumb in small circles.
Pulling you as close as your bodies will allow, Jake continues. “I asked her over to talk while Rooster went to get something for her on base. He just picked her back up.”
“Base? What would he have for her there?” Another safe question. You like the safe questions much more than the ones awaiting you.
Jake’s chuckle is mostly a puff of air through his nose. “There’s been a ring in his locker for a month,” he tells you. “He’s marrying her. Assuming she says yes, that is.”
You almost snort. Millie will say yes before Rooster has the entire ask out of his mouth. Carried by the ocean, her squeal will echo across every inch of the town, and you can imagine the entire event as if right by their side.
She will throw herself into his arms, which will knock him onto his back. He will chuckle as he ignores the ache that the fall inflicts on his joints because holding her is more important. She will kiss him. He won’t let her stop. The ring will be neglected for many hours, but eventually, it will make its way onto her finger. And that is exactly what you want for the couple who proved to you a love so powerful and fulfilling exists.
“She will,” you say.
“Yea…” Jake agrees, “She will.”
The corners of your lips tick upward in a hint of a smile, but after a handful of seconds, the smile falls. Not because of Millie and Rooster—that can be said with every ounce of honesty in your heart. But in your attempt to continue appreciating your friends’ future happiness, you find a sudden overwhelming selfishness. You become incapable of dedicating your thoughts to anything other than the fact that what you feel right now—this moment where every bit of Jake’s body and presence and soul encompasses you—is about to be ripped right out of your hands.
You don’t want to be a brat. You don’t want to cross your arms, stick up your nose, and stomp your foot in defiance like a child. But, fuck, you just got him. You just got him and it’s not fair. Nothing about Jake leaving speaks to the promise of any higher power’s ability to balance out the pain you’ve experienced with the pleasure and joy that has found you over the past few months. You are about to stop receiving what you’ve come to accept you deserve after the hell that was your life before Jake and the world he introduced.
Had what you heard been said differently, you might not feel this strongly about him leaving. Were Jake and Millie’s words lighter, you might be able to believe that this separation will not last, that Jake will come home, and what is happening between you and him will simply pause for a couple of months before it resumes. But their tone suggested an unbearable alternative.
You flip over so you can look him in the eyes and instantly see that he’s feeling what you feel. You don’t have to tiptoe around the deployment now. He knows you heard enough.
“Will you tell me about it?” you ask.
“What do you want to know?”
Everything, you don’t say. Every detail, every move, every risk, every likelihood, every expectation you’re allowed to have. You want to know where he will be and when; when he will go and return. You think the more you know, the less you will worry. But Jake can’t give you that much. So you don’t ask for it.
Instead, you say, “Are you scared?” because maybe if he’s not scared, then you shouldn’t be, either.
“You know me, beautiful. I'm the best,” he says, but you can hear the uncertainty that weakens his voice. He doesn’t answer your question like you want him to. “But it's…different. We've been training hard for months. They've done everything they can to prepare us.”
“Is it enough?”
“It’s as much as they could do.”
You blink away the threat of tears and sniff away the tingling in your nose, but it’s hard to do as you try to accept that information. As much as they could do is not enough for you.
“You’re not good at being reassuring,” you inform him.
Jake sighs into a sad smile. His eyes briefly drift, but when he locks your gazes again, a rich, thick vulnerability fills the space between you. “In this case, I don’t know how,” he says. “I’ve never had to explain this to someone I care about the way I care about you.”
You pause mid-breath and there’s a swelling to your throat that seems to squeeze the rest of that breath right out of you. Once again, you’re selfish, not considering what all of this means for Jake. He’s the one leaving his home, risking his life, and with everything you’ve gathered from Millie’s words and his own, nothing about this will be simple or can compare to what they’ve faced in quite some time.
“It’s…different,” he told you; “...especially this time,” Millie had said.
This deployment—this mission—will be no in-and-out quick trip, no there-and-back, no ‘I’ll be home for dinner, honey’ for the Daggers. ‘The best of the best’ might not hold as much weight this time, and quelling your worries should not be occupying space on Jake’s plate.
“Normally, I only have to think about myself and my team,” he continues, falling onto his back and layering his hands over his abdomen to stare at the ceiling. “Now I think about you. I’m doing the last thing I wanted to do—leaving you here—and yet, when I go, you’re still coming with me. You’re going to be on that ship, in my bunk, in my jet…”
Lifting onto your forearms, you inch closer until your face is surely within his peripherals. His eyes meet yours and one of those layered hands reaches to cup your cheek. Fingers slide through your hair to the ends of the strands and he gathers a few between his thumb and index finger. They carefully twist the section of hair back and forth, then he curls it around his finger. Another part of you he’s hoping to permanently remember.
“You’ll be all around me at all times, beautiful,” he says. “And that, I’m unprepared for.”
While sweet in delivery, you realize what he’s telling you are words not coming from a man happy to have someone in his heart, but from a man tormented. It’s why his smile isn’t full and his eyes contain only a fraction of their common light. Jake is a man unable to reassure you of anything because with you came change, and change is a wrench in what is otherwise a consistently stable practice in his life and career.
“Unprepared for…” leaves your mouth slowly as you finish processing what that really means. “As in, I’ll be a distraction.”
His hand drops, back to layering over the other. His stare returns to the ceiling. “I’m good at my job.”
“I know that, but are you going to be able to focus if I am in your head all the time?” When he doesn’t answer, you feel your nerves start to wiggle under your skin, blood rushing at an unnatural pace. “Don’t think about me when you’re there.”
His soft smile does nothing but throw the rest of your body into panic. “I like thinking about you.”
“I don’t care if you like thinking about me. I care about you coming home.”
Pushing the covers off your body, you stand, evading Jake’s effort to pull you back to his side. You bite down on your nail hard enough for it to give way under the pressure.
He’s sitting up, feet to the ground when you turn to face him, and you take a few steps from the bed, hoping he won’t follow so the fear that pulses around you doesn’t infect him.
“Beautiful…” he sighs with an energy that irritates you. While tinted with melancholy, it’s too calm and gentle and plush, like he has all the time in the world to lay back and ponder the future when that could very well be untrue.
You rip your nail from the trap of your teeth. “Do not think about me if you can’t do what you need to do at the same time.”
“I can guarantee you’ll be in my head no matter what, so if we’re making demands, that one’s off the table.”
“It shouldn’t be if it means you’ll spend all of your time worrying about me!” you shout. “Tell me that’s not going to happen!”
Jake gives you a long look. Then his head falls forward and he runs his hand down his face. “I’m doing my best to keep my head where it needs to be.”
“And you’re failing?”
“I’ll figure it out,” he tells you, meeting your gaze. “It’ll be ok.”
“I don’t believe you.”
Jake stands then, sharp in the movement, and you take another step back. “What do you want me to do, beautiful?” he just short of snaps. His hand presses into his chest. “I have to leave you behind for months. I’m leaving you to loneliness and a silent apartment, to Brit, for fuck’s sake. I’m leaving you and I’m terrified that as time goes on you’ll start to question things. Like whether or not you’re a burden or a waste of space. Like whether or not you’re loved. And–”
“You’re afraid I won't be here when you come back.”
His shoulders release their tension. “Can you blame me?”
No, you think; you can’t. It has not been long enough to lock that security into place, and it wouldn’t be right to shame him for lacking full confidence. You know Jake has faith in you. You know it’s not your ability to wait for him he questions, but instead, how healed you are to not be influenced to disappear from his life if he’s not there to remind you why you matter.
While you’ve done your best to prove your commitment, your best is also new for you. Only recently have you been able to promise yourself that you’re making the right decisions for your happiness, and that one of those decisions is Jake. To expect him to be further along than you is unfair. He may be your hero, but he’s not invincible. He’s not immune to his thoughts running away with him any more than you once were. So no, you can’t blame him. Not for this.
You close the distance between you, grabbing his hands with yours to weave fingers. “Jake, I can’t be the thing that takes up so much of your mental energy you have none left to protect yourself. If something happens to you…” You shake your head, not willing to finish the thought. “Use me in a different way. Instead of worrying, turn me into the reason you come home because of everything we can have when this is over.”
He takes a moment to let the suggestion sink in, and you let him, because you need him to understand the depth of what you are offering. Not only are you swearing to stay, but you’re beginning to paint the picture of the future he has been unsure exists. It’s the future you want, but he must meet you halfway. You’ll be here for him as long as he does everything within his power to return home for you.
“I'm going to be here, Jake,” you say, unweaving fingers to wrap your arms around his neck. “So please don't let something like that distract you. Keep your focus on what you have to do and then come back to me.”
—
Three weeks pass in a flash. Three weeks full of sex and kisses and laughter and a million conversations about everything you plan to do when you’re together again. You don’t entertain other possibilities.
Neither do you see your friends. Millie called to shriek over the new ring on her finger, but that was it. Each pilot has people of their own to share their time with, so they don’t waste a second of it. They hold on to every precious moment down to the last kiss and hug and touch of hands before time is up and they have to walk away to board a ship.
Though she tries not to, Millie cries new tears to replace the ones Rooster kissed away. You keep yours locked inside so Jake doesn’t worry as he kisses you goodbye. The two join the rest of their team, glancing over their shoulders multiple times to get final looks at you and Millie before they’re gone.
Your friend doesn’t watch them leave. She can’t is what she tells you. It’s too hard for her to see them disappear. But she waits for you in Rooster’s truck as you stay behind a little longer.
Even though Jake is not within sight, you know he’s there, and so you keep your eyes on the ship while it begins to depart. Your gaze is unwavering until your phone begins to ring in your pocket.
Your brow furrows in confusion. With the exception of one, everyone you know is on that ship and you’re sure they aren’t allowed to have phones, but you answer without a second thought.
“Jake?”
“I love you,” he says. “It’s important to me that you know that.”
You can’t breathe. Your eyes dart back to the ship, expecting to see him, but it’s too far gone and you can only make out silhouettes. “Jake–”
“I’ll see you soon, beautiful.”
And then he hangs up.
You dial back but it goes to voicemail. As do your next five attempts.

That chapter was the perfect combo of sweet, spicy, & sexy at the same time, also I'm get where Phoenix is coming from because she don't wanna see Cali get her heart broken cause of Hangman's reputation but I'm know Jake is not gonna do that to her because she not one of his one-night stands that he messing with, and also lowkey he starting to have feelings for Cali though.

The girl behind the bar (Part 7)
pairing: Jake Hangman Seresin x plus-size reader
warnings: mentions of past body shaming, angst
words: 3.5k
Summary: After what happened between you and Jake and those stupid guys making fun of your appearance, you weren't too keen on seeing him again. Let alone having him surprise you in the storage room to talk things over...
Link to my masterlist
Rooster, Phoenix and the rest of the gang came in right when you opened the bar. Even Hangman and Coyote were part of the group when they entered. They were early for their usual arrival and went straight for the pool table.
It’s only been two days since that fallout with Hangman, but you were already over it. Or at least that’s what you told yourself.
You were stupid to think that something could have been between you and Jake. It was a stupid little kiss born out of the situation and meant nothing. You were glad that you didn’t ask him to come up to your apartment that night as it would only have been another thing that you would have regretted.
It might have been a nice little fantasy but daydreaming was over.
You might have been ready to act like the kiss never happened but you weren’t ready to forgive him for letting those guys talk about you the way they did without him saying anything in your defense and then act like you were mad at him for no reason.
“Hey girl”, Phoenix arrived at the counter and snapped you from your thoughts. “Hey girl”, you returned the greeting.
A few nights back, you and Phoenix overheard a bunch of girls saying hey girl all the time and as a joke, you now always greeted each other that way.
“Can we have 7 beers, please?”, she asked and moved over her credit card. “Sure thing, girl”, you said and grabbed it. “Thanks, girl”, she replied and made you both laugh.
You opened 7 bottles and arranged them evenly on a trey. “I got it, thank you”, Phoenix said and carried the trey over herself. Unknowingly, she did you a huge favor as she delayed you having to come face to face with Hangman again.
Another group came through the door and kept you busy for the next few minutes until another group showed up and slowly the bar got more crowded.
Later in the evening, Bob showed up at the bar counter and sat down in one of the chairs. When he looked up, he caught your stare. “I just need a moment away”, he said and you knew what he meant. Having this specific group of navy pilot all in one place, you knew from experience that it could get quite overwhelming.
“Take all the time you need”, you said and just placed a beer in front of him with a wink which earned you a shy smile from him.
While you continued serving drinks, you shot Bob a look every now and then, checking on him and that’s how you noticed that he was looking over at a girl sitting across the bar from him. She seemingly looked over as well but you weren’t sure if she was interested. She definitely played it cool.
"You can just go over and talk to her, you know?", you said with a smirk while polishing some glasses close to him and putting them into the shelves beneath the bar. Bob looked at you with big eyes like he was caught red handed. His cheeks even turned a light shade of red.
That guy flew in fighter jets for a living and was afraid to ask out a girl. It showed you again that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. With the exception of Hangman. With him you got what you saw.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”, he shook his head and took a sip of his drink. “I’m talking about the cute brunette across the bar that you’re looking at ever since you sat down”, you said and shot him a smirk.
“I can bring over a drink from you”, you suggested. He looked at you and then over to the girl. “She doesn’t look interested”, he shrugged his shoulders. You looked over at her again. She looked around the room, obviously looking for someone to flirt with. Not to feed the cliché but she looked like your typical pretty girl that wanted something the most when she thought she couldn’t have it. Sometimes, us women weren’t better than our male counterparts.
“Just lean over and say something in my ear”, you turned to him, saying in a whispered tone and leaned forward. He looked at you with big eyes behind his glasses. You two had never been physically that close to each other. “Huh?”, he eloquently asked. “Just say something to me”, you repeated slowly.
After a moment of hesitation, he leaned forward and said “And what should I say?”. You pulled back and laughed like he had made a sexy joke. “God, Bob! Stop it!”, you said extra loudly and playfully slapped his arm that was resting on the bar top as you kept giggling. You carefully looked over your shoulder, seeing that the girl was looking over at the two of you. Her eyes wandered from you to Bob, now clearly checking him out.
“I don’t know what’s happening”, he continued in a whispered tone and looked like a deer in the headlights. You leaned your arms on the bar and put your face close to him. “I’m helping you get her attention”, you explained with a whisper. For people across the room, it must look like you were having an intimate conversation.
“Hey Y/N! Can we get another round?”, Rooster called over and held up his hand, showing 4 fingers and you dove back up from your conversation with Bob. You grabbed four bottles of beer, opened and placed them on a trey before you came around the bar. When you walked past Bob on your way to the table, you let your hand glide along his shoulders that were pretty tense. “Relax, I know what I’m doing”, you whispered at his ear, then grabbed the trey and walked over to the group.
“What was all that giggling about?”, Fanboy asked, wiggling eyebrows as you arrived with the new round. “Just an inside joke, you wouldn’t understand”, you brushed it off with a smile like you and Bob had a secret, which you kinda had.
“Yeah? What about?”, Hangman asked from the other side of the pool table, leaning against the wall with his drink in hand.
“About being a decent guy. Like I said, you wouldn’t understand”, your voice was ice cold when you talked to him. Coyote had the decency to look down at his feet, avoiding eye contact with you.
You placed the last drink down a bit hard in front of Rooster before you turned around and left the group again.
“What was that about?”, you heard Rooster asking. “Hangman, what did you do?”, Phoenix asked him immediately. “Mind your business”, he just said and emptied his drink.
You had forgotten that the group didn’t know what happened two nights ago as only Hangman and Coyote were here with these guys you had never seen here before.
When you came back to the bar, you saw that the brunette was now sitting next to Bob and they were talking. You stepped behind the counter and saw that her drink was empty. “Can I get you guys anything?”, you asked and shot Bob a little proud smile.
“Could I have a Rum and Coke?”, she asked and leaned a little closer to him while she was talking to you. I get it, you’re talking to him now, you thought to yourself and bit down on your bottom lip to hide your smile.
You grabbed all the ingredients to make her drink and noticed that you were low on Rum. You poured the rest of what was in the bottle into her glass and onto the ice in it, topped it off with Coke and placed it in front of her.
“I have to go to storage, real quick. You okay here, Jimmy?”, you asked your colleague, who was serving drinks on the other side of the bar circle. “Sure thing, darling”, he nodded and placed the dish towel over his right shoulder which was kind of his trademark.
You grabbed the key for the storage room from under the counter as you walked out of the bar circle and weaved through the crowd towards the door to the little hallway. There, you found a couple making out against the wall next to the storage room door.
“Hey, guys. You’re either on your way to the restrooms or your way back. No kissing in the hallway, please”, you told them. “Sorry”, the guy said and pulled the girl back into the main bar area while she giggled. “Mhm, must be nice”, you said to yourself while you unlocked the door and put the key into the pocket of your apron.
The bottles of Rum were on the top shelf which you were definitely too short for. You pulled over a wooden box and stepped on it. Even with that help, you had to stand on your tiptoes to reach the bottles. You grabbed one at first and then reached for the second one. The box was kinda shaky but you managed to hold your balance. Until you didn’t.
When you wanted to step off, the box moved and made your descent quicker than you would have liked. All you could think about was to not drop the two big bottles of Rum and bracing yourself for impact. And then…two strong arms caught you.
“Are you okay?”, you heard behind you and recognized the voice immediately. Jake.
As soon as he put you back on your feet, you shook off his hands. “Get your hands off of me”, you shot at him with an angry look. “Hey, I just saved you from a fall”, he countered and looked surprised that you were angry with him. “I didn’t ask you to save me”, you told him. “You don’t have to ask someone to save you…”, he countered again, huffing annoyed. “I would have preferred someone”, you said, indicating that you meant literally anyone but him.
“Could you just shut up and listen to me for a second? God damn it”, he raised his voice in anger. You put the two bottles on a shelf next to you and crossed your arms in front of your chest.
“What do you want, bagman?”, you asked with a cold tone. Your eyes flickered over his shoulder and you noticed that he had closed the door behind him. You didn’t know how you felt about that.
He shot you an annoyed look for the use of Phoenix’s interpretation of his call sign that he hated so much and took a deep breath, sort of looking for some composure.
“I wanted to talk to you about what happened two days ago”, he began.
“What’s there to talk about?”, you asked him but your tone indicated that there were tons to talk about.
“I was stupid”, Jake said. “At least, we can agree on that”, you spat at him, shifting your weight from one leg to the other.
“I was an asshole that night. I should have said something when he talked shit about you and I didn’t. I’m sorry”, he said. “Okay”, you simply stated but the tone in your voice let him know that it was not okay.
“It doesn’t sound like it’s okay”, he mentioned. As a response, you put your hands on your hips and just looked at him, your jaw clenching.
“Look, I didn’t see you there, otherwise I would have said something”, he tried again.
“It shouldn’t matter if I was there or not! You shouldn’t have let him talk about me that way”, you angrily spat at him while you took two steps forward, ramming your finger into his chest. Your patience wasn’t running low, it was all gone. “And on top of it, you acted like you didn’t even know me and then made me feel like I was overreacting. That hurt, Jake”, you told him and you felt your voice getting a little shaky, which you hated. You took the two steps back again and took a deep breath.
“How come you’re ready to risk your life every time you fly those jets but being associated with me is something you can’t handle?”, you asked him straight out and from the expression on his face you knew you caught him off guard. Your eyes burnt from the oncoming tears.
“Y/N…”, he started but you interrupted him. “Is being associated with me hurting your brand?”, you made quotation marks with your fingers.
“I’ve got enough insecurities on my own, I don’t need yours on top of it”, you added. You were getting worked up with every word you said to him. Maybe you were overreacting on some level, but years of suppressed feelings bubbled up to the surface and you didn’t know how to make it stop.
Jake had the ability to find your deepest scars, ripping them open again and deepening them even more. You just felt like with what had happened that you had your biggest insecurities confirmed.
Jake remained silent, visually lost for words of what you had just put in front of him. You sighed defeated.
“Listen, what happened between us here during the storm was obviously a mistake. We were caught up in some moment and I can dismiss it as that. But I thought over the past few weeks we became some sort of friends. And as a friend, you should have defended me against an asshole making stupid comments about my appearance like that. But since that wasn’t the case, you made it clear that we’re not friends. So, we might as well go back to just being a customer and a bartender”, you motioned between the two of you as you made it clear where you stood on your relationship to him. If you could even call it that.
Now, it was your turn to just look at him as you had made your point and said what needed to be said. From your point of view, whatever this was between you and Jake was now over and things could go back to normal.
You grabbed the two bottles of Rum from the shelf next to you and walked past him towards the door. When you were right next to him, his hand grabbed your arm with a light but determined grip.
“Y/N, I’m sorry what happened, I really am”, he told you and when you looked up at his eyes, they looked sincere. You wished so badly you could believe him, but something deep inside you still doubted him. You carefully pulled your arm from his hand and opened the storage room door with your elbow. You took a step out and to the side to tell him to leave the room as well.
When he came to stand next to you, you put the two bottles in his hands and grabbed the key from your apron to lock the door again.
“We’re shipping out soon and I don’t want to have this standing between us”, he tried again and to your ear, it almost sounded desperate.
“It’s all good Jake, really. In the future, I’ll make sure you’ll see me so you’ll know when to defend me”, you said, not hiding your sarcastic undertone at all, and collecting the bottles from his hands again. “I hope you’re doing well on your mission. I really do. God knows you need the confidence boost”, you told him and the cold tone in your voice even made yourself shiver a little bit.
You shot him an icy look as you took a step back and then turned around to walk back to the main bar area. You had left Jimmy alone long enough.
As a pleasant surprise, when you came back to the counter, you found Bob and the girl still talking. You put one of the bottles of Rum on the liquor shelves in the middle of the circle and stored the other one in the cabinet beneath it.
“There you are, I almost thought you got lost back there”, Jimmy called out when he saw you. You shot him an apologetic smile.
After getting some space between you and Jake, you now realized how much that conversation had drained you. You watched him walking back to the pool table, saying something to the others and then taking off towards the exit. Right before he left, he turned around to look at you once more. You held his stare for just one second and then turned towards a new customer to serve her a drink.
When you walked along the bar circle to check on the other side of the bar, you found Rooster standing there, shooting you a concerned look.
“What?”, you asked him straight out. His sad eyes gave you the creeps.
“Coyote told us what happened two nights ago”, he told you and shot you another sad look. “He didn’t speak up then, he should have kept his mouth shut now”, you told him and looked over his shoulder to shoot Coyote a stern look for blabbering to the others.
“I’m sorry that happened to you and that Hangman was his usual, stupid self”, Rooster said compassionately. “Oh god, don’t give me those pitty eyes. I’m a grown woman and my skin is thicker than it already looks”, you told him and pulled a face. You tried to diffuse the situation with humor. Pitty was even worse than what that guy had said.
“It wasn’t okay what happened to you. From both of them”, he added. “Rooster, I really appreciate that. But Hangman and I cleared the air and if the other guy ever shows up here again, I’ll just spit in his drink”, you told him with a wink.
“It didn’t look like cleared air from the way he left”, Rooster mentioned. “His feelings are not my concern as mine are obviously not his. We talked, he understood most of it and that’s that”, you told him.
You leaned over and grabbed two shot glasses. “And I don’t know about you but I need a drink right now. Will you take a shot with me?”, you asked him and grabbed a bottle of tequila from behind you.
“How can I say no to that?”, he said and a smile played around his lips. You weren’t sure if he believed you that you were already over what had happened but he was willing to let it go for now.
You filled the glasses, each of you grabbed one, clinked them and downed your drinks with one swift sip. You both pulled a face when the liquor burned down your throats. “Jesus”, you called out with a raspy voice.
To Rooster’s surprise, you filled up the glasses again. Instead of saying something, he just raised his eyebrow at you. You pushed over the full glass to him and looked at him challengingly. “Are you sure?”, he asked and was talking more about you drinking on the job than him getting free drinks.
“Drink up or I’ll make you play, piano boy”, you told him and now raised an eyebrow at him. His eyes lit up like you just gave him an idea.
“I’ll gladly do both”, he said, grabbed his drink and downed it like the last one. “Wait, what?”, you asked confused and forgot to drink your shot. “Guys!”, he called over to the pool table and motioned for them to get over to the piano. “You too, Bob”, he slapped Bob’s shoulder who was still talking to the brunette. As he got up from his seat, he just took the hand of the girl and pulled her with him.
Rooster walked right over to the piano and had Payback pull the plug from the jukebox. On his way back, him and Fanboy grabbed your hands and pulled you from behind the bar and shoved you over to the piano as well. Shit, you should have downed your second shot.
Before you knew it, Rooster was playing the first notes of Great Balls of Fire…
When you got to the bar the next day, Penny told you that they got shipped out that morning, including Maverick.
Even though you were still mad at Jake for what he did, you were also scared that you might have seen the last of him. He had told you that his job and the missions he took on were dangerous and it was a very real possibility the he wouldn’t come home from them. Penny looked very nervous as well and that didn’t help your own gut to settle down.
Yes, you hated him for not defending you but you would hate it even more to not see his stupid face or his cocky grin ever again.

i got this birthday piece up later than i wanted, but it's the thought that counts 😂
also, this takes place in 2021
summary: jake gets one of the best birthday surprises he could have asked for

Jake rested his head on his fist, sighing as he looked at his phone.
His birthday had just passed and his family always did something the weekend after, if Jake was able to come home, but he just wasn’t feeling very festive right now. Sarah couldn’t make it to the ranch for the party this year. She’s a teacher, it’s hard to get away to Texas on a random weekend in October.
“Jake? You okay? You look distracted,” Zach, his brother in law, asked as he came in from the kitchen with Blakely’s refilled cup.
Jake hummed and looked up from his phone, “What?” “I asked if you were okay. Clearly somethin’s up, what’s wrong?” Zach said as he sat down.
Rolling his lips between his teeth, Jake sat his phone down and wiped at his mouth. “Just um… just wish Sarah could be here.” His sisters all frowned a little at him, “Jake…”
“No, I’m okay. I get that her job doesn’t allow for random trips. And we talked practically all day yesterday when she wasn’t working. Lunch was an entire facetime session. And we fell asleep on the phone. She um, she had gotten ready while I was still asleep.”
He had woken up that morning to Sarah humming along to a song as she had breakfast. Then he rode with her to work and they talked as she got her room set up for the day. They could only text most of the day and they called before she said had to go.
Jake just wanted to do this with her. He didn’t get to spend last year with her because he couldn’t get to Texas having to stay for training the week of his birthday. And this year he couldn’t visit her during her birthday so he hadn’t seen her since he spent a few weeks in July.
Taking a deep breath, he pushed out of his chair, “I just miss her is all.” He adjusted his jeans before pointing up the stairs, “I’m gonna shower and go to bed. G’night y’all.”

Slow ride, take it easy! Slow ride-
Jake groaned as he dug for his phone and turned his alarm off. “No, I don’t have to get up this early, fuck off alarm.”
He rolled onto his back, forearm draping over his eyes. “Ugh, I hate this, why can’t I sleep in on a Saturday?” His arm plopped next to him, dangling off the bed a little. He turned his head, looking at the pillow next to him.
He felt a little silly, like he was a teenager again who was cuddling a pillow and pretending it was Daisy Duke or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But this time he was pretending it was Sarah, her perfume permanently in the fabric of the pillow case at this point. Jake sighed and picked up his phone. He went to his texts, immediately going to Sarah’s contact. He sent a quick, “Good mornin’, I love you. I hope you have a good day 💜” text before tossing his phone down and rubbing his face.
Sighing again, he rolled back over and snuggled the pillow, inhaling the fall scent of toasted marshmallow and vanilla. Sarah changed perfume during the seasons, but he loved the warmth the sweet smokey scent brought him. It just felt like Sarah, it felt like home.
But sadly, he was pulled out of his thoughts when someone knocked at his door.
He grumbled into his pillows, “Whaaat?” “Do ya have paints on?” He huffed but responded honestly, “Yeah.”
The door opened and Paisley stepped in. She giggled a little as she walked over and shook him awake. "Jake, there's a present in the kitchen for you."
Jake looked over his shoulder at her, his look incredulous, "I'm 27, I don't need gifts." He snuggled his pillow again, “Plus my birthday was Thursday.” “Jaaaake, come ooonn!” He shooed his little away with his hand, “I’ll be down there later, I wanna sleep.”
Paisley huffed and put her hands on her hips. He really needed to go to the kitchen. "Okay well, mom made bacon pancakes just for you soooo." She teased as she left, slowly exiting and waiting for Jake to respond.
Jake inhaled and rolled over before sitting up, "And I'm up, I'll be there in a second."
She smirked and patted the door as she closed it, "That's what I thought."
Jake grunted as he got out of bed and put a shirt on before going downstairs to the kitchen.
He was still a little groggy when he got to the kitchen, so at first he didn't realize that his girlfriend was handing him his coffee.
"There you go Darlin'," Sarah said with a smile as she handed him the warm mug of black coffee with two scoops of sugar and a little bit of creamer – just the way he liked it.
"Thank you Sugar," he mumbled sleepily, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as he took a sip.
Then as he swallowed the bittersweet coffee, his eyes widened in realization and he looked at his mom and sisters, who were grinning ear to ear. "Is she... Is she really here?"
Jake had to be sure he wasn’t dreaming, he wasn’t looking down until he got confirmation that it was really his girl.
“It’s her JT, you’re not dreamin’,” Addison said with a smile as she fixed a bottle for Peyton.
He looked down, his pasture green eyes meeting the warm woodsy brown eyes staring up at him. The corners were crinkled, telling him she was smiling.
“Hi Cowboy.”
The moment her honey sweet voice hit his ears, porcelain was hitting marble and he was wrapping his arms around her.
“You’re here! Oh my gosh, you’re here!”
Sarah giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I’m here Darlin’, I’m here.” Tears pricked her eyes and she could feel Jake’s tears hit her neck.
They stood there embracing for God knows how long before they pulled apart, both wiping tears.
“I-I-I thought you couldn’t make it! What are you doing here?” Jake asked, his grin still on his face. “It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you now would it?” Sarah teased as she brought him closer and pressed her lips to his.
Jake smiled against her lips, threading his hand into her hair as he wrapped his other arm around her in an attempt to pull her as close as possible.
Sarah’s hand cradled the back of his head, her manicured nails scratching at his scalp gently as her mouth moved against his. Her other hand cupped his cheek, her thumb moving back and forth on his scruff.
After a few moments they pulled away, softly laughing as they rested their foreheads on one another.
She giggled as she swiped her kiss swollen lips with her tongue before rolling them together.
“Happy birthday, Jake,” she said softly with a lovesick smile.
“Thank you, Sugar,” he smiled and kissed her nose. “Best present I could have gotten. I was prayin’ for this.” Sarah teared up a little before patting his chest, “You have one more present.”
He chuckled, “Honey, havin’ you here is enough of a gift. I doubt you could top it.” Sarah raised her eyebrows, “Well, we’ll just have to see about that. Won’t we?” He hummed before pecking her lips, “I guess so.”
Sarah hummed as well before pulling back, “Close your eyes and sit down. I’ll be right back.” Jake nodded and did as told, sitting at the kitchen table.
“What do you think she got you Jake?” Tilly asked as she got the plates and cups down. He shrugged, eyes still closed, “I don’t know. She could have made me something and I just know that I’ll love it.”
“You’re so cheesy,” Delilah chuckled, shaking her head fondly at her son. “I get it from Dad, Ma.” “Got that right.”
“Okay,” Sarah’s voice came from around the corner. “Your eyes closed, Lieutenant?” “Sure are, Coach.” She couldn’t help but giggle and roll her eyes, “Pay? Are his eyes actually closed?” “They are Sarah, buuuut,” Paisley went over and covered Jake’s eyes. “Okay, c’mon on in.”
Jake heard Sarah giggle before hearing her pad over, “Alright, open your eyes.”
Jake did so as Paisley moved her hands and his eyes went straight to the little bundle of black and white fur in Sarah’s arms.
He jerked his head up, “You did not.” She nodded, giggling as she scratched the little guy’s neck, “I did.” She carefully put the pup in Jake’s arms. “I remember you telling me about Duke, and the pictures you showed me. I saw this little guy and thought he was a spitting image of Duke when he was that size.” Jake teared up. He told Sarah about Duke after he saw her border collie, Raven. It was such a fleeting conversation that happened months ago. It was followed by the immediate talk of where they should go camping and Duke wasn’t brought up much after that.
So to see that she remembered not only the dog’s name but the four photos he had shown her? It choked him up.
He sniffled and looked down at the pup, “Hi buddy.” The pup immediately licked at Jake’s chin, “Oh yeah, hi hi,” he chuckled before kissing the pup’s head. “Where did you find him?”
“A local shelter actually,” Sarah said with a soft smile as she sat down. “He was um… He was the last of his litter to get adopted. His mama was found wandering around the silos in Waco. And affectionately they named her Maggie. Sadly she didn’t make it after the birth… But all 6 pups did.”
Jake leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips, “Thank you. I love him.” Sarah smiled, “I’m glad. You wanna learn what the shelter named him?” “Of course, I do.” Her smile widened, “His name is Nugget.” “Nugget?” She nodded, “I can tell you why.” “Please do, I’m curious.
Sarah giggled excitedly, shifting in her seat, “Okay, so I was talking with one of the receptionists and she was telling me about Nugget. I asked her why they settled on Nugget for him and, I swear this is the truth, she said it was because he stole the shelter workers Chicken McNuggets.”
“What?” He laughed, “No there’s no way! This sweet little guy? He would never steal.”
“That’s what I thought! But she showed me proof. This little lunch bandit would steal unattended nuggets. Thus becoming, Nugget.”
Jake chuckled, the story of how Nugget got his name sounding familiar.
“Sounds a lot like getting a-”
“Call sign,” Sarah nodded, grinning. “Yeah I thought the same thing… reminded me of you.”
Jake smiled wide at her, his heart fluttering almost concerningly.
He didn’t think it was possible, but he was falling for her even more. Everything she did just made his stomach swoop and his whole body flushing when he thought about her.
“I love you, so so much.”
She kissed his lips before standing, “I love you too, Cowboy.”
He watched her walk behind him before looking and Nugget, “Well Nugget and Hangman, perfect duo.”
Sarah looked over her shoulder at him as she got orange juice out of the fridge. She smiled, her heart warming at the sight.
“Well, look who decided to show up!”
“Ah!” Sarah laughed as she was picked up and shook a little. “Carter Wells put me down!”
He did and everyone laughed as she hit his chest before shoving him away.
Everyone else filed into the kitchen, giving her a hug before settling for breakfast.

After breakfast, the rest of the late morning and early afternoon was preparing things for the grill and other things for the afternoon.
Sarah may or may not have been caught watching the Razorback game on her phone while making dirt cake. But no one really cared, Texas wasn’t playing that weekend so they needed some entertainment.
Jake, his dad, and his brother-in-laws were getting hay bales in the back of the trailer for the hayride.
The kids were outside while they loaded the trailer and Nugget was getting his energy out chasing them and nipping at their heels.
More family members, some of Jake’s high school buddies and some of Tilly’s friends showed up around 4 o’clock.
Jake was excited again about the event, now that Sarah was here to enjoy it with him. And now they had a cute little addition to the family.
Everything was perfect.

Once it hit 6:30 and the sun was really starting to go down, Jack got everyone’s attention.
“Alright everyone! The sun is setting, so we’re gonna get started eating but I think Jake had something he wanted to say?”
Jake put his drink down as he nodded, grabbing Sarah’s hand and pulling her with him to where people could see them.
“Hey, everyone, I just want to say thank you all for comin’ out tonight to celebrate my birthday. I made it one more year,” he said, chuckling as squeezed Sarah’s hand. “And I plan to make it through many more years, don’t think I don’t.” He looked down at her, “I got too much waiting for me at home.”
He looked back at everyone, “I want to say grace before we dig in.”
Everyone bowed there heads as Jake blessed the food before they started eating.

“Okay, it’s 8 o’clock! Let’s get this hayride started!” Jack said, pointing to the trailer and tractor.
Jake pulled Sarah to her feet and toward the trailer, “C’mon we gotta get the good seats!” She giggled, “Hold on Jake, I’m not bringing Nugget with us, not at this age.”
She turned to Addison, “Will you watch Nugget?” Addison nodded, “Yeah of course, I’m staying back with Peyton.” Zach came over and took Nugget from her, “We’ll make sure he stays out of trouble.”
“Wait, you’re staying?” Jake asked, confused. “Yeah, staying here to help get the bonfire started.” “Oh okay, well have fun being lame, Zach. We’re gonna go see what Tilly and her friends had set up for tonight to scare us. C’mon Sugar.”
Sarah giggled as Jake dragged her to the trailer, helping her up and to a hay bale.
Zach sighed and looked at his wife, “Oh Addie, he has no idea what he’s in for.” She arched her eyebrow, “What do you and Tilly have planned?”
“You’ll see Adds, you’ll see.”

Jake looked over at Sarah, she was giggling as Ethan tried to tickle her just for her to get him back.
She sighed as Ethan ran to his dad and looked at Jake, “What?” He shook his head, smiling, “Nothing, just still so happy you’re here.” She smiled and leaned over to grab his hand, “I’m happy I’m here too.”
Jake can’t help but lean forward and press a kiss to her lips, “I love you.” “I love you too.”
“Hey JT?”
“Yeah PT?”
Paisley leaned against her boyfriend, “Why are you across from her and not next to her?” Jake chuckled and leaned back a little, “Well, I wanted to watch her reactions. And then if she was scared I can bring her over here. But she was laughing the whole time.”
Sarah shrugged, “I don’t scare easily.” Jake laughed and shook his head, “I’ll get you eventually.”
They all laughed before looking around at the calmness of the ranch as Jack drove back to the house.
The ride was calm, everyone mingling and looking at their phones occasionally.
Then suddenly, arms wrapped around Sarah’s midsection and she was being yanked off the trailer.
Gasping, she reached for her boyfriend, “AAH! Jake! Jake!”
Jake looked up, thinking she had simply lost her balance and was falling. But over her shoulder he can see a hooded figure pulling her back off the trailer.
Panic rushed through him and he dropped his phone, leaving it to clatter to the floor of the trailer, “What the hell?!”
Should he have watched his mouth with little ears around him, yeah probably. But his girlfriend was being dragged away by whoever this person was.
Jake got to his feet, moving so fast he nearly fell over. He reached for his girlfriend only to graze her fingers as she was pulled off the hay bale.
“Jake, help me!” Sarah screamed as she was dragged away.
He didn’t think twice as he jumped off the moving trailer, chasing after the figure that was dragging his girl away.
“Hey!”
“Jake!”
He caught up to them and grabbed Sarah’s hand, pulling her toward him and then behind him.
Though the figure in front of him was nearly towering over him, that didn’t change the fact this man tried to hurt his girl. He was the only thing between the danger and Sarah; he had to protect her, no matter what.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?! Who the hell are you?” Jake wasn’t quiet yelling, but his voice was strong, commanding. His chest was puffed out as his shoulders were drawn back, making himself wider. His eyes were stern and his upper lip was curled in a snarl. He wasn’t Jake, he was Hangman.
When the man didn’t respond, Jake shoved at his chest, “Hey, I’m talking to you!”
Sarah's eyes widened and she gripped his shoulder, “Okay, Jake, Honey.”
He shook her hand off, his eyes still on the figure.
“Jake,” she sighed as she pulled out her phone and turned on the light. She wormed her way between them, shining the light up, “Jake, it’s Zachary. It’s just Zach, everything’s fine. It was just supposed to be a prank.”
Jake looked up seeing his brother-in-law trying not to laugh.
“You asshole,” Jake said, relaxing a little but punching Zach in the shoulder. “That wasn’t funny. I actually thought Sarah was gonna get hurt.” He looked down at his girlfriend, “Why?” “I’m sorry Jake, we didn’t think it would scare you that much.”
He sighed, wrapping his arms around her, “It’s okay. Just maybe next time, pick like Tyler or someone not built like a tree to do it.” Both Sarah and Zach chuckled, “No promises, this was also Tilly’s idea.” Jake shook his head, “Of course it was. Imma take this up with her.”
Jack brought the tractor over, “You know I thought you would have noticed that no one else was freaking out.” Jake rolled his eyes, “Well excuse me for being worried that my girlfriend was being dragged off the trailer by a giant.”
He sighed and helped Sarah up into the trailer, “But it’s alright now, but Zach is still an ass and I’m givin’ Tilly a stern talking to.”
His dad chuckled, “I would expect nothin’ less. Let’s get back to the house.”

Jack drove them back to the house, letting everyone get off before taking the trailer to the haybarn.
When Jake and Sarah got off the trailer, a little bark greeted them as they walked over to the firepit.
“Nugget! Hey my little man!” Jake said with a grin as he sat down and the pup got in his lap, jumping up to lick his face. “Yeah yeah hi!”
Sarah giggled and sat next to Jake, “Looks like I picked the right pup. He loves you.” Jake smirked, unable to help himself, “Who doesn’t love me, Sugar?” She opened her mouth to respond but Kassandra beat her to it.
“All she has to do is call your base and she’ll get her answer.”
“Hey, you hush,” Jake said pointedly before laughing.
He turned and looked at Sarah, “Don’t listen to her.” Sarah giggled and shook her head, “Alright, I won’t.” Jake chuckled and kissed her forehead before she looked at the bonfire, her hand absentmindedly petting Nugget and he settled next to her.
Jake couldn’t help but look at her eyes. The fire reflected in her eyes beautifully. It enhanced the color, the shadow casted by her lids creating a contrast of dark chocolate to the warm amber lit up by the flames.
“Have I ever told you how gorgeous your eyes are?”
He watched her brow furrow, “What?” “You’re eyes, they’re gorgeous. They have this depth and mystery to them, but they aren’t cold. One look and I feel like I drank an entire pot of hot chocolate, warm and cozy,” he whispered lowly against her temple.
“Jake, that’s so sweet but extremely cheesy,” she giggled. “You love it,” he laughed, kissing her head and wrapping his arm around her shoulders. She hummed and looked up at him, “That’s not all I love.”
A grin split Jake’s face and he pressed his lips to hers.
“I love you too Sugar.”

Candy Cane Kisses
Pairing: Jake “Hangman” Seresin x Plus Size!AFAB!Reader
Summary: Candy Cane Kisses takes us to a Texas ranch on Christmas night, Jake “Hangman” Seresin is watching his sister’s best friend from across the room as he nurses the bottle of beer in his hand. His Bambi is somehow more beautiful than she’d been when they met three years prior, the last time they’d seen each other until only two nights before and he wonders if she can still taste him like that candy cane between her lips.
Warnings: 18+, No use of Y/N (Reader is nicknamed Bambi), No happy ending (for now). There is talk of food, relatively explicit talk of sex as well as some pretty graphic foreplay/kissing with the reader being described with vaginal anatomy but the actual smut happens behind closed doors.
Word Count: 4.8k
A/N:
First: This is part of @sailor-aviator’s Christmas Writing Challenge but it is also a companion piece to a longer story/series I’m working on so while there is no happy ending in this piece the overall story, once completed, will have a happy ending. But once again, THIS PIECE DOES NOT HAVE A HAPPY ENDING so read at your own risk.
Second: The smut was supposed to be in the story but I felt like it didn’t need it but if people want to read it separately I might consider finishing it and posting it.
Third and probably most important: Anything you’d like me to tag as warning or in a description or anything please let me know. I haven’t really posted anything longer than a couple hundred words since like 2016 so it’s been a while and I know fandom and fanfiction has changed quite a bit since I’ve been an active member of it so please bear with me while I get my bearings.
Sailor-Aviator’s Christmas Writing Challenge
December 23rd, 2013
Sometimes he replayed that kiss in his head. Sometimes he berated himself for not giving more. Sometimes he imagines pressing his lips to parts of her that he’d never seen. He knew She was older now, they both were, he’d seen the pictures on instagram and facebook, the occasional snapchat with drunk hazy eyes and the same smile she’d had the very first time he’d met her. It’d been more than three years since they’d seen each other in person but even from across a crowded bar with Christmas music blasting and chatter at an all time high, Jake could still hear her laugh and when his eyes shot in the direction of what had once been his favorite sound he knew then and there he was a goner. Even as he makes his way across the room to stand beside her at the bar he knows it’s a mistake but he’s thought about her for three years, and how much hurt could a conversation really do.
“Bambi.” A simple word, a nickname given to her that very first day as she watched the movie for the very first time with tears in her eyes. At the sound her eyes drifted closed, tension leaving her shoulders as she let out a breath before looking over to him with a smile.
A conversation. That’s what he’d told himself. What harm could it do to just say hello, just ask how she was doing, just talk like the old friends they were. It wasn’t until an hour later when he stood inside her bedroom with his hand in her hair and his cock down her throat that he realized maybe his first instinct had been right. Maybe he shouldn’t have followed the sound of her voice, maybe he should have left the bar the second he heard a laugh that made his heart skip, maybe he shouldn’t have come back home at all.
December 24th, 2013
Jake sat on the arm of the couch, his cousin Isaac standing over him gesturing wildly with his unoccupied hand as he recounted a story Jake assumed would be interesting if he could pay attention to anything other than the sound of that laugh from across the room. The cold bottle swung between his fingers nearly empty. If he finished it he’d have to get another, if he went to get another he’d have to walk past her, if he walked past her he was sure she’d smell of that sweet gingerbread lotion she’d slathered on her hands, the same as the night before. He’d have to come face to face with her and that candy cane between her soft lips. He tried not to think about those lips, tried to listen to Isaac talk about the latest ponzi scheme he’d gotten himself involved with, tried not to remember the way her lips felt wrapped around his-
“Dude I’m serious this would be a great investment opportunity! And I know you’ve got some capital, what with that military salary and all.”
Isaac’s eyes were wide with excitement but Jake’s face was contorted in pity as he sighed. “I don’t know Isaac.”
With that his face fell. “Why not man?”
Opening his mouth to give the older man an answer he really didn’t have, except to say that some guy name Brad has Isaac by the balls, Jake was saved by the voice of his mother as she quickly approached the pair.
“Jacob,” She started, laying a hand on his shoulder and looking softly at him, usually a sign she was about to ask for physical labor. “Do you think you could help Bambi bring the rest of the cookies from the basement? We’re running low up here and you know if someone doesn’t go down with her she’s gonna try to carry them all up by herself.”
He sighed but he didn’t argue. “Sure thing Mama,” He stood and clapped his cousin on the shoulder as he walked away. “I’ll catch up with you later Isaac.”
“Okay but seriously think about what I was tellin’ ya.”
With his back turned Jake nodded as he rolled his eyes. “Absolutely.” He knew would absolutely not be thinking about it as he took a few long strides towards the basement door and made his way down the steps.
The Seresin’s basement had never been a place to fear. Finished long before even their first child arrived Jake had always known it as a playroom, a game room, a movie room, whatever his family had needed it to be. He could hear his nieces and nephews to the right of the stairs, no doubt playing with the collection of toys new and old that lived in the too big toy chest in the corner of what could have been a third living room. To his left he could hear the rustling of plastic and clanging of aluminum in what was originally intended to be a second full bar for his dad but his mother had taken over as christmas cookie and bulk grocery storage. Once fully down the steps he could see her then, his back to him as she tried to stack two trays of his mother’s treats on top of one another and he smirked, that was just like her. “I know you’re not trying to carry all those containers up by yourself.” He made his way toward the woman maneuvering the stack to goodies to get the best angle, gently laying his hand on her lower back.
Relaxing at his touch Bambi looked up at Jake with a smile of her own. “I’m an independent woman who only takes one trip, especially with stairs involved.”
“Well as independent as I know you are imagine the hell mama would give me if she knew I let you carry them all up yourself. So will you spare me the wrath?”
Bambi rolled her eyes, replying with a sarcastic chuckle. “Well I suppose I could take pity on you given how well you ate pussy last night.”
The man’s shoulders dropped, “About last night,” He started, the room becoming thick with silence. “It was-“ He couldn’t finish, taking his hand off of Bambi and placing both of them on the counter as he turned from her slightly. He didn’t even know what he should say, didn’t know what the truth was, didn’t know if he should tell the truth even if he knew it.
Bambi nodded and sighed, back straightening as she toyed with the edge of the wrapped cookie trays. “A one time thing, yeah, nothing, I get it and I don’t plan on telling anyone. Not even Mary. She’ll lose her mind if she found out we almost fucked.”
‘Fucked’ the word didn’t feel right. She’d never felt anything like what she felt the night before, memories of his hands and lips trailing over every inch of her body, every square of skin an erogenous zone with his touch. Fucked was something that happened after heated arguments and on couches in frat houses and in the back of cars. She wondered if last night, even though he’d never been inside her, she wondered if that’s what sex was supposed to be like, still making her feel a need for him almost 24 hours after the fact.
“Good. I mean. I just didn’t want to give you the impression that it was more than it was.” He felt sick at his own words. ‘More than what it was’ what was it exactly? Two people who once knew each other, who’d once been friends, giving each other pleasure? No feelings? As if he didn’t still think about her once a day from sharing one single kiss three years prior.
The silence feels heavy around them but continuing to plaster a smile on her face Bambi looks up at her best friend’s brother. “I get it.” She starts. “I’m not a teenager with a crush anymore. You may have been the first person I loved but there have been others since. Other kisses, other blow jobs, other sex partners. There will be others after you too.”
Every muscle in his body was tight as he nodded. “Okay then. It’s all sorted then.” Jake’s stomach churned as he tried not to think of her underneath, on top of, in front of, with other men. He wasn’t neive, he knew last night that the blow job she’d given him had been too good to be the first time she’d done it, someone had instructed her in the past. She knew where she wanted to be kissed and touched and she hadn’t been afraid to move his hands or his mouth or ask for more or less. He knew those things came from experiences. He just hated hearing her say it. Or maybe he hated the thought of after, that there was now an after him. That someone else would touch her and be touched by her and she’d instruct them on how to make her feel the way he had. Make her feel the way he had when he knew no one would ever make him feel the same way she did.
“Yeah, now let’s get these treats up there before people start nibbling on your mom’s gingerbread houses.” With a smile on her face Bambi grabbed the top tray and quickly turned her back to Jake and made her way back upstairs.
She was trapped. Completely and totally trapped. There was no possible way out of the conversation with the man in front of her. She’d tried everything, giving uncomfortable responses, not responding at all, she’d even tried walking away and he’d just followed her. Bambi had met Billy Seresin a few times. He was always too loud and too touchy, he smelled like he smoked 3 packs a day and he never ever shut up. All she had done was give him a polite smile as she was walking past him and into the sitting room, intent on cornering Mary-Ann to pester her about the man who’d shown up to the party as her boyfriend and left 30 minutes prior seemingly losing the title. That had been her plan but of course things hardly seemed to work out the way she expected these last few days especially and nearly 45 minutes later Bambi was sure that if Billy Seresin laid so much as a finger on her again she was going to vomit. But as he raised his hand another slide along her lower back and pulled her closer to him.
“Hey Bill, I’m gonna steal the pretty girl away, hope you don’t mind.” And without waiting for a response Jake led Bambi to the front door, his hand still resting gently on her back.
As they passed the threshold out to the porch her shoulders relaxed as she took in the borderline cold night air. “You are a real hero Jake, if the navy thing doesn’t work out I could whip you up a cape and some spandex, you could go around saving the world from conversations with creeps.” Bambi chuckled as the two settled beside each other on the porch swing, Jake pulling a large blanket from the basket beside them and wrapping it around Bambi’s shoulders.
“Well I’m contractually obligated to the Navy for another few years but afterwards we’ll team up.” His hand rubbed up and down her blanket covered arm a few times before leaning into the back of the swing, his body turned completely towards the woman beside him. “Besides, how was I supposed to let him keep eye fucking you right in front of me.”
“He was not eye fucking me.” Bambi voiced with a roll of her eyes.
“He was,” Jake argued. “I can tell since I’ve done it.”
Turning lifting one knee onto the seat of the swing she turned to completely face Jake. “He’s married to Sarah who’s a fucking dream, no way he’s trying to fuck that up.”
Propping his elbow on the back to their seat, Jake smirked, resting his head on his hand. “You’re way hotter than Sarah.”
“Oh now that’s just a flat lie.” She replied, throwing her head back in laughter.
Lifting his head, Jake let his fingers reach out to slide over a piece of her hair. “I disagree. You’re the hottest woman in any room.” He smirked, giving Bambi an exaggerated wink.
Lulling her head to the side she said his name with a mildly warning tone.
He sighed, throwing his hands up in defense. “Fine I’ll stop saying it. But you can’t make me stop thinking it.” A full genuine smile spread across his face, all the way up to his eyes.
“Sometimes I think you’re too much of a flirt for your own good.” She gave him a gentle shove and her exaggeratedly leaned backwards before sitting up with a laugh.
As the sound of laughter faded Jake admired the woman before him, he’d always thought she was beautiful but the glow of the twinkle lights surrounding the porch made her look ethereal. Even three years later, he’s never gotten over the way he feels around her. For several moments the silence surrounded them, nothing but the light creak of the swing chains and nature. The peacefulness he didn’t expect to be surrounded by was somehow terrifying to him So he filled it. “How’ve you been?”
“Good.” She started, looking at her hands in her lap as she began to pick at the polish. “Mom has been seeing this guy Randy and he’s really nice to her. They’re talking about getting married and moving in together. And Mary bought this new camera and we’re setting up a studio space in the third bedroom of the loft. She’s not sure if she’s going to go back to college with me next fall but I still have plenty of time to convince her.” A soft smile turned up the corners of her lips her eyes still trained toward the fiddling fingers in her lap.
Jake reached out, rubbing his hand slowly over the blanket covering her shoulder. “That’s all great Bam but I asked about you.”
She sighed and then nodded. “Oh, well yeah, yeah. I’m good. I’m good.”
‘You sound unsure.” He pushed.
She reached out her hand to place it on his knee. “No, I'm good. Really.” She assured. “Just not totally used to thinking about it I guess.”
Reaching down to take her hand between both of his, stroking his thumb along her skin. “When’s the last time someone ask how you’ve been doing?”
Jake looked at her with a warning glare. “Before that, smartass.”
Bambi rolled her head and smiled, her thumb sliding back and forth over Jake’s own calloused knuckles.“You’re the one in the Navy, doing big important things, shouldn’t I be the one asking you how you’re doing?”
Squeezing her hand tightly he gave Bambi a serious look. “You can ask but how you’re doing is no less important than how I’m doing. I’m of the opinion that it’s more important. How can I be okay if I know you’re not?” His question was met with silence and so with a sigh he continued. “I’ve been really good. Made some friends, made some non friends, and I love flying. Have pretty much everything I could ever want. Now you.”
Bambi smiled, giving Jake’s hands a squeeze of her own as she kept her eyes trained on their connected fingers. “I’m good, really. I’m getting my degrees in social work and criminal justice. Victim advocacy is the goal, helping people in similar situations to what Mom and I went through. Things are stressful and I’m scared I’m gonna fail like all the time but I want to help people so badly.” Finally she looked up, tears began to surface in her waterline as she willed them not to fall. “Somewhere out there is a child or a spouse who is going through some of the worst pain of their life and I think about how it felt to be helpless like that and I know I can’t give up.”
Again, Jake reached out to her, one hand still holding tightly to hers, the other gently brushing a fallen drop from her cheek. “You amaze me Bamb, stronger than me that’s for sure.” A comfortable feeling fell over them as he continued the questioning.“You still in therapy?”
With a smile she nodded, her hand still gripped tightly in Jakes. “Yeah but I’ve been in a pretty good place for a while now so we’ve cut back to once or twice a month with the option for more when I need it. It really helped me to work through a lot of the guilt and anger and sadness. And I can think about it now without wanting to throw up. I still have nightmares but nothing like it used to be.”
Jake grinned at that. “That’s really great. I’m proud of you for sticking with it, I know you were really nervous to be starting it in the first place.”
“Thank you for encouraging me back then, I don’t know if I could have done it without that extra push.” 3 years ago she’d been a girl often afraid of her own shadow. She’d thought she needed to be saved back then but Jake hadn’t been the one to do it. Instead he’d loved her and broken her heart and pushed her to help herself.
“Of course Bamb I’ve always cared about you, always wanted what’s best for my Bambi.” His hand cupped her cheek, eyes unable to break from hers.
“Jake-“
“I know, I know what we said I just,” He sighed, thumbs gliding softly over the skin of her hand and of her cheek. “I just really miss you.”
“Miss me?”
“Yeah,” Again, silence surrounded them, Jakes eyes dropping to her lips as he continued. “Bambi, about earlier I didn’t-“
“There you are!” Mary-Ann’s interruption pulled the two apart, hands now cold and cheeks warm. “Jake, I told you to interrupt my conversation with Isaac after 3 minutes. I was stuck there forever listening to him talk about whatever bullshit he’s on now. I swear that guy doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground.” Mary plopped down in the rocker closest to the swing.
Jake now sat with his feet planted firmly on the porch. “Says the girl about the drop out of college.” He teased.
Mary gasped, turing to her best friend who still had yet to stop reeling. “You told him!?” She exclaimed.
Bambi replied with a soft shrug. “I didn’t know it was a secret.”
With the most sincere puppy dog look she could manage Mary-Ann turned to her brother. “Please don’t tell daddy, he’d be so disappointed in me.”
Jake dropped his shoulders and stood up, placing a hand on his sister’s shoulder.“Oh don’t worry Mary-Ann, he’s already disappointed in you.”
From then on the conversation was nothing but a fit of giggles and insults between the siblings, Bambi still swinging back and forth in a fog as she wondered what he’d been about to say.
The night had slowed, most of his extended family had been long gone before it reached ten and parents retiring upstairs not long after. The house was quiet, the only light coming from the twinkling bulbs strung from corner to corner in every room in the house. Jake sat at the dining room table, his chair cocked slightly in the direction of his companion. He’d had more to drink since earlier in the night, giving his mind a soft haze. At least he thought it was the alcohol, could just as easily be the woman sitting beside him in her red dress, glowing in the soft light. He’d convinced her to have one last drink with him before she walked to Mary-Ann’s apartment over the garage. It’d been nearly an hour ago and the clock was ticking closer to midnight as the two each prolonged the last sip of their drinks.
Bambi reached over, gently patting his hand. “It’s good to have you home Jake. I worry about you a lot.”
Turning his head to look at the table Jake nodded. “I worry about you a lot too.”
“Me?” She chuckled and just like the night before he forgets how to breathe. “I’m not the one spending my days in a flying metal death trap.”
“I still worry about you. We should keep in touch more.” He traces his finger around the opening of his bottle, trying not to make eye contact as she continues to barely laugh at a memory.
“What, my occasional snapchat not enough for you?” She asks.
“Not when I want to hear from you every day.” It then when he finally looks back at her, if he didn’t know her so well he’d think maybe that smile was real and not the fake one she plastered on to keep others at a distance.
“Every day?”
He sighs and nods his head as he once again looks away from the woman beside him. “Yeah. I think about you every day.” He thinks he must be drunk, there is no other way he’d admit something so agonizing, not to himself and certainly not to her.
The silence is palpable as she throws back the last sip of her drink as she stood. “Well I should probably head out.” Her voice is quiet, if he hadn’t been standing beside her so closely he might not have heard it.
“Bambi,” Jake lifted his hand to her cheek, gently stroking her with his thumb as her eyes closed. “I wanna kiss you so bad.”
Opening her eyes she watches him through her lashes as she turns and presses her lips to his palm. “How’s that?”
“Not really what I had in mind.”
She smirked, “Disappointed?” She asked, thinking back to the very first kiss they’d shared so long ago, her first.
“Just thinking maybe you don’t know how to kiss, someone should really teach you.” He lifted his other hand, steadying her face to look up at him.
“I seem to recall my first teacher being awfully strict about what kisses he could and could not give me.”
His right hand lifted to brush the stray hairs for her face and he nodded. “Let me make that up to you?”
“I thought that’s what last night was supposed to be.”
One side of his mouth twisted up into a smirk, his hand now moving to caress the side of her neck. “I don’t remember finishing the job.”
“You made me cum, your job is done.” The memory of his lips and tongue making her knees weak.
“But it was only once.” He argued.
She was staring at his lips now, heart pounding with anticipation. “Once is more than most.” It was a true statement. She knew too many people lying about orgasms for it not to be.
His thumb stroked between her jaw and ear, eyes watching her as her eyes moved from his lips to his own chartreuse orbs. “I’m not most.”
Voice hardly above a whisper “Jake?”
“Yes?”
“Just fucking kiss me.”
Four words. Four fucking words and Jake’s mind had gone blank of all thought. All except one. ‘Bambi’. Slowly he dipped his head, gently pressing his lips to her, the familiar taste of candy cane still on her lips from his mother’s christmas cocoa cocktail. He almost pulled away; almost did the exact thing he’d done three years prior, sparing both of them the heartbreak but as she sighed and he felt her melt into his touch he needed just a little more.
Their lips moved together, slotting her bottom lips between his and gently sliding the tip of his tongue across it. Her hands reached up to tangle in his hair, the velvet locks sliding through her fingers as he began to pepper kisses first at the corner of her mouth before moving down over her jaw and down her neck causing her to moan at the feeling of his lips against her bare skin.
He smiled as he continued to kiss and lick and gently nip at her neck. Bending slightly at the knee he wrapped his arms about Bambi and lifted her to rest on the dining room table where only hours earlier his family had been gathered. She gasped and her high heels dropped to the floor and her arms now draped over his shoulders. Jake’s smile grew as he dropped his lips to hers once again, slotting himself between her thighs and pulling her to the edge allowing her to feel his length pressed between their bodies. “Do you feel that baby? Do you wanna feel it inside you?” Arrogance heavy in his voice, his lips barely brushing over hers.
Bamni’s face contorted and she whined. “Yes. Jake please please please.”
“No need to beg Bambi, whatever you want, it’s yours.” He spoke with a slight chuckle in his voice though the sound of her begging made him twitch. Again his lips trailed over the skin of her neck then to her shoulder, his hands sliding up her thighs under the red dress he’d spent the night imagining on the floor. His fingers traced over the nylon, attempting to feel every bump and curve and dimple of the flesh underneath.
”I want you to touch me.” Her tone is still begging with his lips trailing over her collar bone. Smirking Jake pulled his mouth from her skin and licked his lips, moving the fingers of his right hand to her core, touching her gently through the layers.
“Oh fuck.” He groaned, feeling her slick against the tips of his fingers. “You are so wet I can feel you through your panties and stockings.” Again he pressed his lips to hers, swallowing the moans the escaped from her lips at even his light and obstructed touch. “Stay the night with me?” He asked, lips still brushing against hers.
With an eggar nod and jagged breath she responded with a simple yes that had Jake’s heart pounding as he pulled her from the table and kissed her deeply before quietly leading her up the stairs and down the hall. He pressed her against the door of his bedroom, his thigh between her legs and her lips against his throat. “Come on baby,” He whispered. “Let me make you feel good.” And with that he pushed his door open and the two stumbled into his childhood bedroom and with a click, locked the door behind them.
It was nearly 5:30 in the morning as the lovers laid in each other's arms, fingers trace patterns over the other’s skin. Jake’s mom would be getting up soon to start Christmas breakfast. His mind reeled with thoughts, a carousel of anxiety, of leaving Bambi, of breaking her heart, breaking his own. Thoughts of his mother’s smirk if his sister’s best friend bound down the stairs with his hand in hers still smelling of sex. His mind filled with thoughts of run, and run, and run. So he ran.
Pulling his arm from around Bambi Jake moved to sit on the edge of the bed, his back to her. “You should probably get going before everyone gets up.”
She sighed before throwing the covers off and throwing her own legs over the side of the bed. “Yeah, I’d hate to have Mama Seresin see me do the walk of shame. She’d probably start planning the wedding before I made it to the end of the driveway.” She laughed as she gathered her dress and undergarments from the night before, slipping them on with little effort. She felt lighter, tension gone from her shoulders and a permanent smile plastered to her face.
“Bambi, last night, it-“ Jake started but Bambi cut him off, leaning in close for a kiss.
“Was great? I sure thought so.” She said, attempting to finish the sentence in a way he hadn’t meant to.
Jake pulled away, his eyes trained directly to his feet as he spoke. “It shouldn’t have happened. I’m sorry.”
Silence again filled the space between them, the inches beginning to feel like a cavern as she pulled further away from him. She didn’t recognize her movements as she walked to his door, her fingers wrapping around the cool metel of the handle. With a deep breath she let the truth fall into the chasm between them. “I lied last night, when I told you it didn’t mean anything? It meant everything.”
She stood there, hand on the knob hoping her words had changed something but Jake didn’t even move “I’m sorry Bambi. I wish-“ He sighed and his head dropped into his hands. “You deserve more than this, more than a single night.”
Bambi nodded and turned the handle. “Merry Christmas Jake.”
Her words were quick though even with the speed he could hear the crack in her voice. His door was shut tight before he responded. “Merry Christmas Bambi.” And only when he heard the front door shut and the turning over of her car did he reveal his own truth.
“I love you.”
