Tuần trước, công ty Công nghệ Mỹ tên Grayshift tuyên bố rằng, thiết bị có tên GrayKey của họ có thể bẻ khóa mọi chiếc iPhone, miễn là nó có kết nối Internet, không loại trừ iPhone X. Và tuần này, những hình ảnh về GrayKey đã chính thức xuất hiện.

Thiết bị có thể bẻ khóa mọi iPhone trông khá nhỏ bé.

Những bức ảnh được gửi tới các nhà nghiên cứu bảo mật tại Malwarebytes Labs bởi một nguồn ẩn danh cho thấy, Graykey có kích thước khá khiêm tốn. Nó chỉ như một hộp nhỏ với 2 cổng kết nối Lightning nhô ra bên ngoài.

Như vậy thì khả năng nó có thể cùng lúc kết nối với 2 chiếc iPhone. Khi được cắm, GrayKey cài đặt phần mềm sở hữu dự đoán mật mã của iPhone. Đối với một mật mã ngắn, gồm 4 chữ số thì GrayKey sẽ mất chừng vài giờ để có thể mở khóa. Còn với mật mã dài hơn, gồm 6 chữ số thì quá trình này có thể sẽ phải mất vài ngày.

Khi thực hiện đoán mật mã, Graykey sẽ hiển thị trực tiếp trên màn hình của iPhone. Sau khi mở khóa, nó truy cập vào tất cả dữ liệu không được mã hóa của thiết bị và tải xuống máy tính sau đó.

Vẫn chưa rõ GrayKey đoán mật khẩu  như thế nào, nhưng theo Malwarebytes Labs thì nó có thể liên quan tới một số loại jailbreaking.

Thiết bị này có thể mở hầu hết thiết bị iPhone được trang bị Lightning chạy các phiên bản mới của iOS. Dựa trên những hình ảnh mà công ty bảo mật thu thập được, GrayKey có thể mở được khóa iPhone X chạy iOS 11.2.5.

Mặc dù GrayKey có ý nghĩa khá lớn, giúp các nhà thực thi pháp luật khi muốn mở khóa thiết bị của tội phạm, tuy nhiên nó cũng gây nên những mối quan tâm lớn về an ninh cho người dùng iOS khác.
