Nivi baby, do you have a final mock draft before tomorrow? I can't believe this class is about to become WNBA rookies. Where did the time go with my little 2020 freshmen? 🥺
No because literally like trying to imagine next season without Nika and Aaliyah is hard enough but then trying to imagine without Cam or Angel or Rickea or Kamilla etc.? I'm so excited for them but I'm really gonna miss my college girlies. 🥺
Anyways this is my draft based mainly on who I would take. I don't watch a lot of international basketball and I know there's two prospects who will probably be taken first round but since I don't know them, they're not making this list.
Caitlin Clark (the Fever could do the funniest thing and because it's the Fever and they're known for dumb shit there's always a chance they could but yeah if it's not CC, something has gone very wrong behind the scenes)
Cam Brink (in my opinion, the most complete player in the class and I don't know why anyone would pass her up)
Rickea Jackson (offensive and defense both go insane and the Sky need a player like her while they're rebuilding)
Aaliyah Edwards (now do I expect the WNBA to fuck up and let her slip lower? Yes. But should she? Absolutely not.)
Kamilla Cardoso (you don't pass up a true center like Kamilla and pretty much every team needs her height)
Jacy Sheldon (honestly probably one of the most complete guards in the draft in terms of offense and defense and the Mystics need a good guard)
Angel Reese (did y'all see my girl is developing a three-point shot? this was the Lynx's pick and they traded it which is unfortunate but Kea and Angel on the Sky should be fun too)
Alissa Pili (#APHive hello!! AP playing with Phee and Dorka? The way I need this beyond anything and I think it'll be a good place for her to fully transition into being a 3 which she should be in the W)
Charisma Osbourne (just a great player, great guard and the league needs pgs always and I like her game)
Dyaisha Fair (I think the Sun would be a great landing spot for my girl. Their backcourt is good but I think could use someone who can basically score at will like Dyaisha)
Nika Muhl (I need this more than I need air like y'all don't understand. And NY needs a good defensive gaurd so bad and Nika off the bench would be so perfect for them)
Liz Kitley (yes I know she's injured but I do think Liz makes it into the first round anyways the same way Soares did last year. In a different draft class, despite injury she'd have gone higher but I think the Dream would like to keep the rights to her)
#ask#wnba draft#gonna come back and look at the predictions after tomorrow and i already know some of them are gonna be way off

Wes Lee defeats Josh Briggs. It looks like Wes is going after Oba, Josh, and Ivar is starting a feud.
Shayna defeats Nattie's friend Kim Petrovic
No Quarter Catch Crew mocked the newcomers backstage to set up this match. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson also took offense to the attitude of Nathan Frazer and Axiom.
Tyson and Tyriek defeat no quarter catch crew members Damon and Myles with help from the ref Stacks.
No Quarter Catch Crew agreed to put the Heritage Cup on the line next week against Tony D'Angelo.
Chelsea Green and Arriana Grace got along well in the locker room while annoying Gigi Dolin, who said she was done with all of this.
Mia Yim defeats Arriana
The Women's Combine tested the speed, power, and conditioning of the 20 most impressive women in NXT. The top 12 announced by Ava advanced to qualifying matches.
1. Sol Ruca 95 pts
2. Thea Hail 93 pts
3. Jaida Parker 91 pts
4. Brinley Reese 91 pts
5. Mia Yim 91 pts
6. Fallon Henley 90 pts
7. Lash Legend 90 pts
8. Ivy Nile 90 pts
9. Izzi Dame 90 pts
10. Kelani Jordan 89 pts
11. Tatum Paxley 88 pts
12. Wren Sinclair 86 pts
Lash Legend revealed a picture of Noam Dar's foot under the rope in their match, calling Trick's title reign fraudulent. Trick was not amused, glad to accept a match with The Scottish Supernova. Also, Trick threatens to reveal his and Lash relationship where Noam attacks Trick. Later on, Meta four leaves the building without Lash, but Je'von confronts Noam about Trick, so they will have a match next week.
Kelani questioned why Fallon would turn on Thea in the locker room. Kelani and Fallon almost came to blows.
Fallon defeats Kelani by ripping off the turnbuckle, and Kelani hits her head on it.
Ridge listened carefully to a distraught Thea Hail backstage and seemed to get along with Chase U. Lexis ruined the moment, setting up this match. Jazmyn Nyx warned Thea that she was coming for her after breaking Jacy Jayne's nose last week.
An unfortunate distraction from Ridge Holland, trying to stop Lexis King from getting in Thea Hail's face, allowed King to hit Duke Hudson with the coronation to win. Ridge apologizes and promises to earn their trust
Roxanne defeats Chelsea in a hell of a match. idk if it's her being back in nxt or if Roxanne is like a dream opponent, but that was one of Chelsea's best matches. Also, before the match, Chelsea sees her old manager Robert Stone(who needs someone to manage since they released Von Wagner).
At the end, we see The Family attack, kidnap, and put Damon and Myles in the trunk of their car, forcing Charles Dempsey to be the one in the match next week for the heritage cup
Who is no quarter catch crew and also why tf was Ivy Nile included in the NXT women’s shindig when she’s on the main roster??????

SMBC: Consciousness: a definition thing
Zach Weinersmith is a man after my own heart when it comes to consciousness, as today’s Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal shows. As the consciousness is in the eye of the beholder and hierarchy of definitions guy, I feel this comic. It also resonates with Jacy Reese Anthis’ conscious semanticism outlook. Click through for the original and red button bonus caption. As usual, I’m sure there won’t…

carrying on from my last post: here’s some advice for people who don’t want to/ can’t go vegetarian or vegan, but want to help reduce animal suffering.
disclaimers: i am fully aware that not all of these will be options for everybody reading this. i live in the UK, so not all of this will be applicable to other countries. i’m not saying you have to do any of these things; i’m just trying to give information to those who want it.
meat-free cooking:
- look up ‘vegetarian recipes for meat lovers’. going from steak and potatoes to lentil salad feels weird for many people, and that’s completely fine. there are lots of meals that feel more accessible to people not used to eating meat-free diets.
- mock meats like quorn or linda mccartney are delicious, but expensive. if you’re able to buy them and sub them once or twice a week, that’s great. if you aren’t, lots of supermarkets offer own-brand versions. tesco’s vegan mince is much better than quorn’s and you can buy three bags for £4. i can usually get 4-6 servings out of a bag (and i don’t eat small portions lmao)
- there’s a reason lentils, rice and beans come up a lot in these discussions: they are cheap as hell, especially if you’re able to bulk-buy. frozen and canned vegetables are also genuinely completely fine. ignore the lifestyle sites that say you need to buy organic asparagus.
- there are lots of great sites that offer cheap recipes, which are often meat-free because, well, meat is expensive. Cooking On A Bootstrap (formerly ‘A Girl Called Jack’) is amazing, and Eat Cheap and Healthy often has good recipes (if you ignore the comments section where everyone squabbles about what is and isn’t healthy)
- look. don’t try and cook tofu until you’ve tried it somewhere else and know what it’s meant to taste like. tofu is a notorious pain-in-the-ass to cook correctly. if you buy it and try and eat it as-is, you’re going to hate it and have a bad time. try getting it at chinese restaurants or similar first- they know how to make it delicious.
what to eat, what not to eat
- try recipes from other cultures. asian cuisines in particular have a huge number of vegetarian dishes, especially indian. vegetarian food does not need to be bland and flavourless!
- if you’re in the UK, mcdonalds fries are vegetarian, and they offer a bean burger/ bean wrap. burger king also offers bean burgers; KFC has no veggie options (other than sides). Nandos has some really good veggie options, as does GBK. look up your local fast food and figure out which places offer veggie options that you could give a go once in a while.
- if possible, cut down on beef specifically. beef production requires a huge amount of water and uses more land than all other domesticated animals and crops combined. My partner and I cut beef out a few years ago, and we don’t miss it.
labels and symbols:
- look up what various symbols and logos mean. if you’re in the UK, this guide is really good. understand what labels mean past just ‘free range’, and keep an eye out for intentionally misleading labelling: ‘cage free’ does not mean free-range.
- similarly, please don’t forget about fish. overfishing is a huge problem, along with bycatch and environmental effects. look for the MSC symbol when buying fish, and download their ‘Good Fish Guide’. it lets you quickly see which species are okay to eat, which are okay on occasion, and which you should try and avoid
- again, if you have enough money and space to be able to bulk buy, contact local high welfare farms and see what they have available. often you can pay a lot of money upfront for half a pig which can then make a lot of meals
lifestyle stuff:
- look into Meat Free Monday or flexitarianism. these are concepts that involve just... eating less meat. not eating no meat, but eating less.
- on a low FODMAP diet? here are some recipes that won’t hurt your stomach
- look into ‘moral offsetting’. it’s a pretty simple concept: when you do something ‘morally dubious’ (their wording, not mine), you ‘offset’ it in some way. the standard is donating to charity. i have a recurring monthly donation set up to Compassion In World Farming for this reason.
- following on from that, if you’d like to donate to an animal charity, look into effective altruism and use a charity evaluator to make sure your donation is going somewhere that will use it well
- don’t forget about leather and suede! look into alternatives to these if you can.
- follow and support lab-grown meat! this is a really exciting innovation that’s going to change a lot of things for the better.
- look for people to follow and promote. Jacy Reese is a very cool guy- check out his TED Talk and twitter pages too.
- educate yourself, and educate others. read posts like this, and read the sources, and think about whether you agree with me or disagree with me or have a different suggestion. read about the meat and dairy industries, read about alternatives, read about problems with both. don’t just accept what you’ve always believed: learn more, teach more, and be willing to change and grow.
(oh and don’t support PETA lmao)
best of luck in your journeys, my friends!
#vegetarian#vegan#animal cruelty#effective altruism#jacy reese#idk what else to put this under#also feel free to message me about something here but like... do ask yourself 'can i google this?' first#no sealioning pls#i'm serious about that tesco mince btw that is THE BOMB#also americans or ppl from other countries feel free to add stuff to this to make it more relevant to you

The Moral Consideration of Artificial Entities: A Literature Review
A recent paper released on the internet that references some transhumanist researchers:
Abstract: Ethicists, policy-makers, and the general public have questioned whether artificial entities such as robots warrant rights or other forms of moral consideration. There is little synthesis of the research on this topic so far. We identify 294 relevant research or discussion items in our literature review of this topic. There is widespread agreement among scholars that some artificial entities could warrant moral consideration in the future, if not also the present. The reasoning varies, such as concern for the effects on artificial entities and concern for the effects on human society. Beyond the conventional consequentialist, deontological, and virtue ethicist ethical frameworks, some scholars encourage “information ethics” and “social-relational” approaches, though there are opportunities for more in-depth ethical research on the nuances of moral consideration of artificial entities. There is limited relevant empirical data collection, primarily in a few psychological studies on current moral and social attitudes of humans towards robots and other artificial entities. This suggests an important gap for social science research on how artificial entities will be integrated into society and the factors that will determine how the interests of sentient artificial entities are considered.
the paper is written by Jamie Harris: Sentience Institute, [email protected] and Jacy Reese Anthis: Sentience Institute & Department of Sociology, University of Chicago

In my book The End of Animal Farming, I try to determine which foods are most unethical (...) If someone eats beef and drinks milk but cuts out all other animal products, they could have more than 99% of the direct impact of a vegan diet.

Summer produce can ease the way to a meatless diet
Did you know? "Your support of the meat industry helps fuel climate change, and eliminating or reducing meat from your diet is the biggest contribution an individual can make to fighting climate change.” So noted EcoWatch in its May 26, 2019 post “7 Reasons You May Want to Become Vegetarian.” Summer could be the best time to experiment with reducing the amount of mass-produced meat and poultry in your diet while enjoying fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes that will be harvested in the next few months.
Interested in learning more about the link between climate and the food industry, and, by extension, your diet? There are many books in our collection that can help, beginning with the classic Diet for a Small Planet by Frances Moore Lappé. Try also these more recent titles:
Eating animals / Jonathan Safran Foer.
The way we eat : why our food choices matter / Peter Singer, Jim Mason.
#Eat for the planet : saving the world, one bite at a time / Nil Zacharias and Gene Stone.
The end of animal farming : how scientists, entrepreneurs, and activists are building an animal-free food system / Jacy Reese.
Becoming vegan : the complete reference to plant-based nutrition / Brenda Davis, Vesanto Melina.
The omnivore's dilemma : a natural history of four meals / Michael Pollan.
