family picnic - featuring the bishop-du mortain family for @wayhavensummer day 3 (picnic)
thank you to the amazing @javsarts for bringing one of my favorite scenarios to life (mentioned in bucket list and play wrestling, snippet below). I love every little thing about this - the lighting, colors, the smiles! I could not have pictured this scene any better with jacques rook, cecilia rebecca, and baby philip (just look at him with the daisies in his hand!!!! 🥺)
adam is from the wayhaven chronicles (by @seraphinitegames). I own everyone else.
*goes without saying, but do not repost or use for your own oc(s).
scenario from bucket list when regina knows she's running out of time to decide whether to turn (spoiler alert: she doesn't) included under the cut!
regina watched adam play with their children from where she was sitting on the porch, pretending that ten-year-old jacques and seven-year-old cecilia were able to pin him to the ground. she smiled as their youngest, four-year-old philip, waddled over and placed a fistful of daisies on adam’s face, before sitting down and rearranging them with a look of concentration on his round face.

When All the Saints Were Sleeping!! please :D :D :D
Ah, thank you!
When All the Saints Were Sleeping is a historical AU set in the time period before and during the Anarchy! The title is a reference to a line in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle about the time period: “men said openly that Christ and his saints were asleep.” I am very excited about the idea this one but have written almost nothing outside of a vague outline.
Highlights include: arranged marriage, falling in love, choosing between treason (condemning one’s family) and perjury (damning one’s soul), pleading for a life to be spared, tearful reunions.
For a longer ramble about the background, check under the cut! :)
Ask me about my WIPs.
The background:
I’ve coopted the historical de Mortain family - they were descended from a half-brother of William the Conqueror, but by the time of Henry I the last male heir rebelled, failed and spent the rest of his life in custody. I’ve tacked Adam’s family onto that - his father being younger brother to the rebel Count, did not participate in rebellion and has been doing everything within his power to restore the family honour. Adam himself was taken into the King’s household as a hostage/political prisoner as a child and grew up with the royal children, so he knows most of the major players in the coming conflict personally. He’s also in a position for the King to be arranging for him to marry a distant kinswoman of the late Queen Matilda. Jacques is rather apologetic and Adam is resigned about the situation.
Lotte of Langford is a distant scion of the House of Wessex through her mother. The family is one of the few Saxon families that had retained their holdings (small) after the conquest. Rook was attacked and killed by bandits early in Lotte’s childhood. Rebecca was/is an attendant to the late Queen Matilda/ the current Queen and was in a position to arrange a marriage when Henry needed to lock down the du Mortain family loyalty. Rebecca is somewhat more forceful about the situation.
