The three victims killed Saturday in a racially motivated sh00ting at a Dollar General in Jacksonville, Florida have been identified as:

29-year-old Jerrald De'Shaun Gallion

52-year-old Angela Michelle Carr

19-year-old Anotl Joseph Laguerre Jr.

Jerrald De'Shawn Gallion was a devoted father who gave his life to Jesus. He had planned to spend the weekend with his 4-year-old daughter.

Angela Michelle Carr was an Uber driver who just finished her last trip. She was a loving mother and grandmother who would "take the shirt off her back".

Anolt Joseph "A.J." Laguerre Jr., was a Dollar General store employee. He had recently graduated from high school and was working at the store as a cashier.

Survivors of Jacksonville and Parkland Are Teaming Up to Help Victims' Families

From his hotel room in Jacksonville, Florida, 21-year-old Shay Kivlen was watching the gaming tournament he’d just left, tuning in to a match featuring his good friend Elijah Clayton. Shay (who goes by the tag Young Kiv) and Elijah (aka Trueboy) met years earlier on the competitive circuit for the video game Madden NFL football and became fast friends.

“I was watching it on the live stream and I saw it happen,” Shay, the Madden NFL 2018 champion, said of the tragic day two people were killed at a video game tournament. “I called all my friends. One of them answered that was in the bathroom at the venue. And then he told me that my friend was dead.” Elijah, 22, was killed in the shooting on August 26, as was 27-year-old Taylor Robertson, aka SpotMePlzzz.

“We met each other about three and a half years ago, or three years ago, and ever since then we've been really close,” Shay said, after explaining that he and Elijah spoke almost every day since they met. “It's rare that you find someone that you have a lot in common with like that. And it just sucks that he's gone.”

“When this happens to you, you think you just lose a lot of hope for humans in general, just because you can never imagine something like this would happen, and when it happens so close to you, it's a weird feeling,” Shay said. “The thing that I can't stress enough is, like, you would think this never would happen. It feels — it still feels almost not real, but then you know it's real.”

In the midst of tragedy, Shay became involved with a project that’s finding a way to help Elijah's and Taylor’s families. On Monday, September 3, Shay is teaming up with Cameron Kasky, a survivor of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, for a live-stream event benefiting the families of the Jacksonville victims.

“Right after the Jacksonville shooting, it brought me right back to where I come from and what happened when it happened at my school,” Cameron told Teen Vogue. “And I knew that it would be the best possible thing I could do right now is go out of my way and try and reach out and do whatever I can to raise money for the people affected.”

“It's a type of understanding that far too many people have, unfortunately,” Cameron said. He was instrumental in pulling the benefit event together and said that he’s glad to see the gaming community pulling together following the Jacksonville tragedy.

So I saw a ‘feminist’ on twitter blame the Madden Tournament Shooting on toxic masculinity. How fucking callous and disrespectful does someone have to be to point fingers like that, while the victims’ families are still grieving? To simplify such a tragedy by injecting their own political beliefs like that is disgusting. No matter the reason for it, using it as a tool to gain brownie points on twitter makes them the most horrible human being. Let the families of the victims have some peace.

I'm so sick of people exploiting tragedies for their agendas.
