helping a man whose home burnt down

I have a few dearly close friends whose grandpa's house just burnt down. He lost everything except the clothes on his back, literally. He has no clothes, his vehicle was destroyed, all his belongings, even his dogs died in this fire. He's not very well off, none of his family is, so my town has started a gofundme for him so that he can at least get him some clothes and maybe even a new car so he can work and replace some of his belongings.

Jack Oblivian & the Dream Killers- LOST WEEKEND (BLACK AND  WYATT RECORDS)

This one came out a few months but but I got my copy recently so I wanted to scribble about it. Jack Oblivian (Yarber) seems like he’s always doing something (kinda like his compadre Greg Cartwright meanwhile Eric Oblivian has a record store to run.…someone has to sell these things). Anyway on this 16-song record Jack’s got a band but….well, the band is basically himself as he plays most everything on here (he does have a little help from some Memphis pals though)  but there’s a bunch of great songs on this messy, chaotic platter of a record (and I mean that in the best way possible). “Scarla” is a love letter to someone  and the horns on the great “LA Charra” will have you dancing in your own mind. Elsewhere “Girl on the Beach” has this great, cracked organ while “Dream Killer” sounds like Suicide circa ’74 in a NYC bunker and refusing to leave. Side one ends with a song called “Guido Goes to Memphis” and come on man, it doesn’t get any better than that. A few of the gems on side 2 include “Boy in a Bubble,” “Sweet Thang” and “Loose Diamonds.” Jack is all over the place on here and the record is only the better because of it.  Plus Black and Wyatt Records is a cool, fairly new Memphis label that has already released a handful of killer platters.
