Reactions while re-watching Willow: Episode 7 “Beyond the Shattered Sea”
Warning: spoilers ahead.
~ The way Willow looks up at Elora after she saves Kit, you can tell he’s impressed and proud of her.
~ Lily saying that “nothing lasts forevers” contrasts with the old man saying that the Shattered Sea goes on forever.
~ The way the old man mixes up past quests and stories is quite realistic for an old person whose memory and sense of reality are becoming confused.
~ The way Kit and Elora’s eyes meet when the old man talks about turning on each other
~ Kit recognized the Crone immediately, as she says the Crone reached out for Airk as he reached out for Kit.
~ Boorman is always a Jack Sparrow type, but his most Jack Sparrow moment is when he takes a swig from a jar on the island.
~ I love the “All for the Glory” montage. The character bonding and the silhouettes against the sunsets are all so beautiful
~ It seems significant that after Elora spent the last two episodes being mistrustful of Graydon, she now trusts him enough to be her sparring partner. Maybe his actions to save them in this episode earned her trust?
~ While they are sparring, there is a shot of Graydon handing Cherlindrea’s wand to Elora. That makes me think there must have been a moment when he bested her and got a hold of it.
~ Was Bavmorda the “wrong person” that the Crone trusted?
~ I had forgotten how long this episode is, with many emotional ups and downs. A false sense of security or wellbeing sets in before everyone becomes anxious and depressed.
~ Graydon’s confession and Kit’s encouragement toward Elora are my favorite moments in the whole show.
~ This might be my favorite episode, because it has so many moments of growth and connection between the characters, plus gorgeous visuals.

are you still doing comfort character chats? and if you are which characters do you write for?
Yes, I am! I've made a server for it on discord (the Chats are private), though I can do them in dms here as well!
As for a character list, I'm still making a more official one, but I can play by character if I'm given around a week to learn about them, or you can choose from ones I'm more familiar with:
Dragon Age (played before): A Cousland, Fenris, Solas, Krem, Varric.
Dragon Age (can play, but have not played before): Alistair, Merrill, Leliana, Bethany.
Teen Wolf (played before): Mason, Theo.
Teen Wolf (can play): Liam, Stiles, Lydia, I can pretty much do anyone from this show, probably off the top of my head.
The Magisterium: Aaron (I'm aware no one has read this, but I'm putting it here. I can also play pretty much anyone.)
Willow (played before): Airk, Madmartigan
Willow (can play): Kit, Jade, Willow, Graydon, Elora
Detroit Become Human (played before): Simon, RK900, Gavin (though I'm not certain if I'm the best at that one).
Detroit Become Human (can play): Markus, North, Connor, (probably) Hank, Kara
Days Gone (can play): Deacon
Dimension 20 (can play): Evan Kelmp, Jammer, K/Dream, Sam (Sorry, I need to finish the others there and so I don't quite have enough experience with them yet), Ylfa
IANOWT (can play): Sydney, Stanley
Borderlands (can play): Gaige, Lilith, Roland, Tiny Tina, Rhys, Angel, (maybe Jack?? That's a lot of raw charisma there though, and he's not exactly comforting... ever? He's funny, though.)
The Witcher (can play): Ciri (I have actually offered to play Ciri for people, I just have not gotten the chance yet, and I'm not familiar with 100% of the material.) Jackie and Yennefer are in the same boat.
There are definitely more that I know, but I haven't made a comprehensive list of possibilities yet.

Jade, Pippi Longstocking
Pia, Bluey
Kit, Captain Jack Sparrow
Boorman, definitely some sort of cross-dressing involved, have to celebrate that wonderful beard.
Airk, Elvis
Elora, a Viking (Brunhilda vibes)
Graydon, a Jedi
I am definitely going to use at least one of these. They’re so good.

If you're wondering why the relatively tame article above got scrubbed from GQ, that's because it's the revised version of the article. This is a version that was captured 5 hours earlier from what I can tell:
Highlights include (emphasis mine):
Zaslav presided over "Discovery’s transition from educational programming to reality slop—which is, of course, a much more lucrative business model."
"But Zaslav did himself no favors, and did little to blur that binary, when announcing the merger of the HBOMax and Discovery+ streaming services in a quarterly earnings call—which included a much-derided infographic deeming HBOMax’s scripted programming as “male skew,” “appointment viewing,” and “lean in” (?), while Discovery+’s unscripted shows were “female skew” “comfort viewing,” and thus ”lean back” (?!?)."
"And while they insisted Zaslav had assured them “that TCM and classic cinema are very important to him,” subsequent reporting indicated that TCM’s staff had been cut from 90 employees to a skeletal 20."
"Nearly lost in the hullabaloo was yet another of the company’s exhaustive attempts to squeeze a profit from its assets: a $500 million deal to sell around half of their film and TV-music library. In a perhaps too-good-to-be-true detail, the sale would reportedly include “As Time Goes By” from Casablanca—the musical fanfare that plays before every Warner Bros. feature film."
"Barely a month ago, Graydon Carter was hosting a party in Zaslav’s honor at Cannes, all but crowning him as the heir apparent to Jack Warner. But there’s a crucial difference between Zaslav and the old-school moguls he’s attempting to emulate: They loved movies, and cared about filmmakers. Zaslav sees movies as “content,” sees filmmakers as “content creators,” and is only interested in maintaining, preserving, and presenting “content” that can make him and his stockholders a quick buck. Anything that doesn’t, he’ll happily gut. He’s closer to Logan Roy than Jack Warner and there is a genuine, understandable fear that his bean-counting represents not just shrugging indifference but outright hostility to cinema and its rich history."
"In Pretty Woman, Richard Gere stars as Edward Lewis, a corporate raider who buys companies “that are in financial difficulty” and sells off their pieces. “So it's sort of like stealing cars and selling them for the parts, right?” asks call girl Vivian (Julia Roberts), when he explains what he does, and it’s hard not to think of Lewis when looking over Zaslav’s reign at Warner Bros Discovery, stepping into the distressed conglomerate and stripping it for parts.
Edward Lewis, however, is at least honest about what he does. “You don't make anything,” Vivian notes, and he agrees; “You don’t build anything,” she continues, and he concurs with that as well. And perhaps that’s why David Zaslav is earning a concerning reputation so far. He’s out here carrying on like a mogul, but based on his performance to date, he’s only good at breaking things."
GQ published this, got a phone call, and killed it, but someone had already archived it, so...
Time to make sure lots and lots of people see it!

Writers of the Future Volume 40: Audiobook review
Hi! This is a collection of short stories that I listened to in an audiobook format while referencing the illustrations simultaneously and before I talk about the short stories, I have to give shoutout to the illustrations!! Kudos to the illustrators because they did an amazing job! Now onto the short stories- we have twelve stories mainly, of the sci-fi genre and they are from various authors specifically handpicked. Here’s more about the short stories:
Book blurb

Book review-
I have to say that this collection of stories is worth checking out if you want to be exposed to multiple writers’ works all at once and especially if you enjoy sci-fi! This is a wide variety of reads, some parts from the human’s perspective and some, not. Some stories are realistic, some are realistic (almost scarily so), and some humourous in its ridiculousness while others make you think.
I will say- I’m not a sci-fi reader. And some of these reads were hard to stomach in the start but for me- the more I read, the more I enjoyed. And saying this as a very rarely into sci-fi story reader, this is a beginnner friendly read. The illustrations are great and match the stories so well, and the audiobook narrator pulls out all the stops to make hearing this antropology enjoyable. I would definitely recommend checking this out!
I hope you enjoy this read! Thank you to Galaxy Press and bookinfluencers.com for my copy of the audiobook!

Willow
I just finished what is hopefully only the first season of Willow. I loved it, I really enjoyed that it was more of a modern fantasy then just straight fantasy. I also enjoyed all the humor. As much as I enjoyed the original movie, I appreciate the changes they made.
Thoughts *spoilers*:
Oh Graydon my love, what can I say. He is probably my favorite character. It’s a close race, but oh god I adore him. He was so sweet and his crush on Elora was adorable. Especially how he kept asking people who had no idea how to help him for advice
I loved Graydon and Elora. I thought they were so cute and I really hope this whole thing with the Wyrm doesn’t mess this up too much. Or at least makes their romance have flavor.
I knew Graydon wasn’t dead! They wouldn’t have spent so little time on him “dying” if he was actually dead
I was not a fan of Airk and Elora. He committed to Elora only after his sister brought up his commitment issues. And Elora seemed more infatuated with him than in love with him
I really liked that even though they couldn’t show Madmartigan because Val Kilmer is sick, that they had his son voice him. Though I think it would have been cooler if they had Jack Kilmer play Airk since he actually is the son of Madmartigan and Sorcha.
I knew that Dove was Elora! I knew it from the moment she was shown with the prince and I’m so glad I was right.
I loved Boorman, I thought he was hilarious and definitely was the funniest character. He really brought a whole other level to the show. And I thought the moments of him showing genuine care for Scorpia were a nice touch
The whole scene in the Shattered Sea was my favorite part of the show. The background/setting was just gorgeous and creative. The training scenes were stunning. And all the scenes with Kenneth and Graydon made me love him even more.
I grew up watching the movie. My grandma even named her dog after Willow. So I wasn’t sure what I expected, but I loved it. I think it was a good way to continue a movie from the 80s without just remaking it with better cgi.
