The Generalist Mindset: Why It’s Better to Be “Good Enough” at Everything
In a world that constantly pushes for specialization, being a generalist—a “jack of all trades”—can sometimes feel like swimming against the current. That old saying, “jack of all trades, master of none,” often gets thrown around as a warning against spreading yourself too thin. But people forget the full expression: “jack of all trades, master of none, but better than a master of one.” And that…

England 23-29 Scotland: Six Nations Rugby Scotland’s victory at Twickenham.

England 23-29 Scotland: Six Nations Rugby Scotland’s victory at Twickenham.
England 23-29 Scotland: Six Nations Rugby Scotland’s victory at Twickenham. Saturday’s sensational loss to Scotland was England’s fourth in their last six appearances at Twickenham but bizarrely, this time, the crowd might not mind too much.
They booed their side on their last outing in London, when they were dismal in defeat by South Africa.
That meant expectation levels were not particularly high going into the Six Nations. As captain Owen Farrell pointed out after their 29-23 defeat, the side had just 11 days in camp with their new head coach Steve Borthwick.
Scotland
15 Stuart Hogg Kicked well but mixed things up too. Made a great turnover on Hassell-Collins. Poor pass to Steyn with Scotland threatening. 7
14 Kyle Steyn Fine break down the right in the second half but could not gather Hogg’s return pass. Similar story with Russell’s crossfield kick. 7
13 Huw Jones Loves a try against England and got the opener by plunging on Tuipulotu’s grubber. Justified Townsend’s decision to pick him. 8
12 Sione Tuipulotu Flawless. Precise kick for Jones’s try and always picked the right pass. Polished in every facet of the game. 9
11 Duhan van der Merwe Stunning try from halfway, beating five defenders. Out of position for Malins’ first try but came up with the winning score. 8
10 Finn Russell Came under pressure when kicking from hand but looked to make things happen. Two fine passes in buildup to winning try. 8
9 Ben White Opportunistic try, finished with the zip that sums him up. Another eye-catching selection that paid off handsomely. 7
1 Pierre Schoeman Sounds as if he’s being booed, rather than affectionately lauded as “Schoe”. Made some decent yards with ball in hand. 7
2 George Turner Went for the overthrown lineout more than once but showed an invention and a confidence that coursed through this Scotland side. 7
3 WP Nel Demonstrated that there is no substitute for experience, particularly at the scrum where he got the better of Genge. 7
4 Richie Gray Preferred to his younger brother and shone, particularly in the buildup to winning try. One penalty against his name. 9
5 Grant Gilchrist Messy moment at the lineout and made little impact in the loose before he was replaced. Made his tackles though. 6
6 Jamie Ritchie (capt) Sloppy knock-on early in the first half when his side were well placed but stepped up his influence as the match wore on. 9
7 Luke Crosbie Talked up in the bulidup after a couple of excellent showings against Saracens but did not make such an impact here. 6
8 Matt Fagerson Stuck to the task well and must take credit for the way that Scotland did not panic before pouncing for the victory. 7
England
15 Freddie Steward Mopped up at back and saw an awful lot of the ball during the battle of the skies. Not yet there as a playmaking full-back. 6
14 Max Malins Ditched by Eddie Jones but fully justified his return. Took first try superbly well and if he couldn’t miss the second, they all count. 7
13 Joe Marchant A slow start and might have done better to stop Van der Merwe’s run. Could not free himself in attack. 5
12 Owen Farrell (capt) A typical centre’s performance, allowing Smith to lead from fly-half. Fiercely physical in defence, levelling Russell twice. 8
11 Ollie Hassell-Collins A bystander during the kicking exchanges, barring the odd booming left boot, but did at least settle down with a few touches. 6
10 Marcus Smith Clearly given more authority over proceedings and England did look good in attack once they stopped kicking it away. 7
9 Jack van Poortvliet An early knock-on but gave England a nice tempo and made a clever break just before he was replaced. 7
1 Ellis Genge Struggled at scrum time in the first half but improved thereafter and got the try his performance deserved. 7
2 Jamie George Looked rusty after a concussion lay-off which left him unable to train properly and had some problems with the lineout. 5
3 Kyle Sinckler Was given a talking-to by the referee but stuck to the task manfully and made some hard yards up the middle. 5
4 Maro Itoje Conceded a needless penalty but a nuisance at lineout – some things never change. Not at his most inspirational. 6
5 Ollie Chessum Discipline not perfect but has an incredible engine and can do a bit of everything. Borthwick’s kind of player. 8
6 Lewis Ludlam Hunted Russell early on and passed to Malins for his second try. In terms of effort, did not deserve to end up on losing side. 8
7 Ben Curry Missed three tackles in the first half, discipline not great and flew out of the line for White’s try. Lacked composure. 4
8 Alex Dombrandt Handling errors but showed his ability to pop up in the right place. Should have done better as last tackler for Van der Merwe’s try. 5

Coach’s message for NRL bad boy
Coach’s message for NRL bad boy
Bulldogs firebrand Jack Hetherington has once again come under fire for his tackling style, this time during his side’s loss to the Tigers. Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett doesn’t think Jack Hetherington should have been sin binned for a high shot in his side’s 28-16 loss to the Wests Tigers on Sunday, but concedes his aggressive front-rower needs to work on his tackle technique. Hetherington…

Ireland 29-10 Italy: Joey Carbery suffers knee injury which could rule him out of World Cup
Ireland 29-10 Italy: comfortable win for the Irish but concerns the fly-half Joey Carbery suffers knee injury that could exclude him from World Cup
Joey Carbery now faces a face battle to be fit for the World Cup Opener on September 22
Half of the fly suffered a knee injury and looked devastated when he left the field
Ireland scored five attempts when they swept Italy aside at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin

Joey Carbery suffered a knee injury as Ireland mitigated past Italy 29-10 in their first warm-up match in Dublin.
Fly-half Carbery will anxiously wait to find out if the new knee is hoping for his World Cup.
Premier playmaker Johnny Sexton is expected to be fit shortly after a thumb load, but Ireland can afford to lose one of their main pivot points.
Joey Carbery shudders as he receives medical treatment on his injured knee
Carbery is assisted by two physios while he struggles to put weight on to lay his leg
Carbery's reaction when he left the field said everything with the World Cup just six weeks away distance
Ireland will open its World Cup by beating Scotland on September 22, so an important knee issue would now threaten Carbery's participation in Japan.
Jack Carty from Connacht and Ross Byrne from Leinster would be the men to investigate British and Irish Lions fly-half Sexton in Japan if Carbery missed an injury.
Carbery from New Zealand, however, offers Ireland additional selection flexibility to cover full-back, and even center at a push
Carbery, Dave Kearney, Andrew Conway, Jordi Murphy and Kieran Marmion all crossed each other while an experimental set-up in Ireland ensured a routine victory at Aviva Stadium.
Maxime Mbanda and Carlo Canna grabs first half trying Italy abused Ireland & # 39; s pre-season ring-rust.
Andrew Conway penetrates a way to score against Italy
Chris Farrell increased his chances of traveling through the World Cup with a smart show in the middle, but otherwise the Irish coaching team didn't get much new selection headache.
Ireland was sloppy from the start, a curious Carbery crossfield bomb of its own 22 an unusual – and failed – exit strategy.
Dave Kearney then clashed a nailed attempt, beating on the whitewash when he tried to scoop Carbery & # 39; s hack.

August 10: Ireland 29-10 Italy, Dublin

August 31: Wales v Ireland Cardiff
September 7: Ireland v Wales, Dublin
Italy hit first then, converting a driven lineout when the aggressive Mbanda popped home.
Carbery quickly pushed up the try count, cantering home through the 12 channel with places in the backline of Ireland swapped with Farrell.
But exactly when Ireland expected to withdraw, the Italians inflicted another flesh wound.
Giulio Bisegni & # 39; s cute grubber kick meant Jordan Larmour in the backfield of Ireland and Carlo Canna first reached the bouncing ball to double the number of visitors.
Finally, Ireland approached something similar to a rhythm, with the phases strung together deep in Azzurri territory.
Dave Kearney made up for his early howler monkey with a naval finish in the left corner, which was all due to Garry Ringrose's pass from the tackle. It enabled Larmour to fire out, and Kearney Junior did the rest.
Ireland coach Joe Schmidt will resign after the World Cup in Japan
Andrew Conway ran
Number eight Jordi Murphy has capped a drive-line for Ireland's fourth attempt, in a solid opening in the second half.
]
Both sides hurled through a completely forgettable third quarter, except for that worrying damage to Carbery.
Replacement scrum half Marmion called Test debutant and Italian counterpart Callum Braley to claim the hosts' fifth score.

Milan 4 Udinese 2
Tumblr media
THUMBS UP
DIAZ was clearly the MOTM. A perfect 10. The best performance he has had in almost a year. He contributed to all 4 goals including a goal, assist, 2nd assist and he also put in the shot that led to Calabria’s rebound shot and eventual PK. Found joy drifting wide right a lot creating a mismatch as he, Calabria and Messias overloaded Udniese’s left. At times we had 5-6 players filling that space and Udinese had no answers.
How nice was it that springtime REBIC to how up on Saturday? The guy who usually drifts through the fall was stellar. Two nice finishes and even kept his cool when Udinese tried to rattle him. The finish from the Calabria cross was world class.
THEO not only had the PK but played stellar defense all afternoon. nothing came down his side. Also did an excellent job turning turnovers into quick counters. Chipped in with a second assist on the Diaz goal.
CALABRIA Offensively earned the PK with a great drive to goal and later on deliver a laser of a cross for Rebic’s first goal. Struggled a bit defensively at times but was brilliant going forward.
KALULU Had a very busy night with the midfield being off. made an incredible crossfield diagonal run to snuff out a Deulofeu chance. Was certainly the better CB on the day.
MAIGNAN Made 2 nice saves and was excellent again in distribution. Wouldn’t say he was at fault on either goa. Both times his teammates failed in positioning and bodying people up.
THUMBS DOWN
MESSIAS was easily the FOTM as his mistakes led to both goals. He lost Becao on the opener and then later lost Masina before half. He simply cannot be on the field if he defends that poorly. Our 4231 system demands more than he offered on Saturday. Unacceptable.
LEAO was mostly used as a decoy on Saturday. Milan overloaded the opposite side of the pitch knowing Leao demands the attention of 2-3 defenders on the other side. It opened up everything and led to 4 gals. no complaints here.
BENNACER and KRUNIC both had some nice highlights but overall I thought were poor and slow. Udinese’s couple chances via the break came straight down the middle putting all the pressure on the CBs.
I also thought TOMORI had one of his poorer showings. Looked slow, especially on the aforementioned break by Deulofeu where Kalulu had to come streaking across the pitch to save him.
SUBS
SALAD could have come on much sooner. Fair play to Pioli for not humiliating Messias by yanking him. If you doubt his usefulness look at his defending in the 95th minute against Beto. Was not bullied by a much bigger player. if that’s Messias this game ends 4-3.
GIROUD played striker then sat deeper as Origi made runs. man never skips a beat.
ORIGI Had several really nice runs. Big and strong.
POBEGA  Also could have come on sooner. Especially with Krunic on a yellow.
CDK Oh baby. One goal called back. Was everywhere. More please.
COACH PIOLI
Excellent game plan. As mentioned earlier loaded up the right daring Udinese to choose whether to leave Leao 1v1 or commit numbers to the other side. At times we had 5-6 players crashing the right right often times against only 2-3 Udinese defenders. Worked to perfection. At times this exposed the midfield and CBs but both held up just well enough. Another masterclass by papa Pioli. His ability to craft ideas and a plan for each opponent is remarkable.Having a squad with so many players that can play multiple roles makes him appear the mad genius.
OFFICIAL BOX SCORE (as per Lisi)
Goals (assists)
Theo (1) PK (Calabria)
Rebic (1) (Calabria, Diaz)
Diaz (1)  (Theo)
Rebic (2) (Diaz)
I’ll be keeping my own version of goals and assists this year. Mostly because I’m curious and also because Serie A and the soccer world in general is notoriously stingy with assists. Also last years stat totals sucked.
SHOTS, SHOTS BLOCKED AND MISSES...
As you all know there is nothing I hate more than a shot that sails into the stands. It’s essentially a turnover that hands the other team a goal kick. Our old friend Jack Bonaventura was the master of this. Shot after shot out of touch for a goal kick. So from now on I will refer to those as ‘misses’. There will be shots on target, those that require a save. There will also be blocked shots and misses. I think by the end of the year this will give us a better picture of what is going on during games.
In the Udinese game we took 14 total shots. Of those 5 were on target, 2 were blocked and 7 were misses.
I’ll be tracking these this year as well.
More later this week as we take a look around the league and also look forward to next Sunday’s game against Atalanta.
FORZA MILAN!

Leeds United: Meslier, Ayling, Struijk, Llorente, Alioski, Phillips, Dallas, Klich (Roberts 76), Raphinha (Poveda 81), Harrison, Bamford (Rodrigo 58).
Subs not used: Casilla, Cooper, Davis, Berardi, Shackleton, Jenkins. This was another very satisfying win, especially as Burnley's starting line up included all three players they've bought from us over the last few years. Charlie Taylor and Chris Wood are first team regulars, but it was nice to also get a rare sighting of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who crossed the Pennines in 2019 to fulfill his ambition to be the third choice goalkeeper at a minor Premiership club. He's played four league games for Burnley since then (including this one), and conceded 14 goals.... Burnley dominated the first few minutes of the game without really troubling Illan Meslier. It took us a while to get up to speed but once we did they were no match for us, and after creating chance after chance we finally took the lead just before half time with a vintage goal from Mateusz Klich, who beat BPF with a clinical strike from 20 yards out. Klich's form has been patchy this season ever since he had to take some time off after testing positive for Covid-19, but he was back to something like his best against Spurs and was even better against Burnley. The second half started in similar fashion, with Burnley on top. Meslier did have to make couple of decent saves after the break, but we weathered the storm before taking control once again. BPF looked reasonably comfortable until the arrival of Rodrigo, who replaced Patrick Bamford with just over 30 minutes to go. Rodrigo has also had a frustrating season due to a combination of Covid-19 and injuries, so it was great to see him showing some real class in this game. He almost immediately won Leeds a corner, from which we scored our second goal. The ball was cleared out to Gjanni Alioski on the edge of the penalty area whose shot was deflected into the net by Jack Harrison. Rodrigo's goals were both stunning.... In the 77th minute Leeds won the ball in a central position and Harrison's forward pass from 35 yards out was met with a perfect touch from Rodrigo, who took the ball between Burnley's centre backs and dinked it over the advancing but helpless BPF. Two minutes later, a beautiful crossfield ball from Kalvin Phillips found Harrison on the left, and his low cross was controlled by Rodrigo who took the ball around BPF and buried it. We're now looking very comfortable in 10th place (and actually have a positive goal difference). If we win both our remaining fixtures we'll finish on 59 points, which would be amazing for a newly promoted team....

No, The Golf Ball Isn’t “Too Long”
You likely know that I play more than just video games. I play all sorts of sports, golf being one of them. I’m not a pro or anything, but I’m decent so I understand the game to a decent extent. With the USGA and Jack Nicklaus talking about this for a good while now and them supposedly being closer to to rolling the ball back than ever, I’d like to give my take on it by mostly copy/pasting a comment I made on Mark Crossfield’s recent video, lol! Link here:
youtube
I never really thought distance was the issue, it's just that the best players have gotten better, more athletic/powerful, etc... There's also a lot more technology to steer players on the right track for their swing traits rather than people taking blind guesses. Since everything players use is already regulated by the USGA. The balls, the clubs, even the Tees. Balls for instance are only supposed to do so-and-so much for so-and-so clubhead speed. Manufacturers are just following the rules already set by making them to the absolute tightest tolerances they can. So if the equipment isn't getting significantly better, then like I said above, it has to be the players.
People have gotta keep in mind that Jack Nicklaus was one of the longest players of his time and he used that to his advantage but is now saying the ball is too long. You sure didn't hear him complaining about distance then, lol! I "did" find an article titled "The great debate: The USGA argued the golf ball was borderline too long...in 1936" on MSN. Yeah, 1936... Well, that article (made just 5 days ago) quoted Jack mentioning that he has been saying the ball was too long for 41 years, which means he apparently said it back in 1977. After that year, he won just 9 more times. But before that, I guess he wasn't too worried about the ball for his 64 wins to speak up on it huh? ;D Even so though, he also said that the distance rollback would bring us back to wound golf ball times back at about 1995, but that of course didn't end until after he quit professional golf. Placing it in the era he said the ball was too long anyway.
If they "really" had such an issue with distance though, why are they not making long hits more of a risk rather than increasing course size and/or choosing venues that are longer? Narrower fairways, smaller greens, more hazards around the 300-350 yard mark, etc... rather than having massively open landing areas. Last year's U.S. Open at Erin Hills they were 70 yards wide and that is a tournament the USGA themselves orchestrated.
Your thoughts? Thanks for reading and have a good one!

#AMTIWATCH Child Actor is on FIRE! Meet Ceyon Crossfield booked a Feature Film A Charity Christmas plus this is not all he has been consistent in his bookings more Feature Films: Double Holiday, You Can't Do That, Plus TV Series: Transplant TV Commercials Lyson & Canon! This is what one Film Director had to say: "Ceyon has a real genius for comedy and he's not afraid to throw in an extra funny line he's made up himself. But what he does on one take from one angle he reproduces precisely and without being told on all subsequent takes, the words, the timing, gestures, facial expressions, everything. The word 'natural' hardly does him justice. I have worked with some very capable child actors in my time. Some kids from Ottawa that I turned into Nickelodeon stars and among others Leaf, now Joaquin Phoenix, Fred Savage of The Wonder Years, and the incredible triple threat of the 1960s Jack Wild, who I was privileged to direct in several BBC productions. New Zealand 5-3 Namibia
Namibia win another penalty off a New Zealand attack. Good breakdown work from the minnows. A solid opening 20 minutes from the lowest-ranked side in the World Cup.

That’s a huge drive from New Zealand at the scrum, overpowering the Namibia pack.
The mullet-sporting, mustachioed Jack Goodhue looks to slide a kick beyond the opposition defence and finds touch on the left – directing proceedings like a rugby-playing Goose.

Superb break from the blue shirts as galloping forward PJ Van Lill goes bursting through a gap to stretch the All Blacks. He finds support but the scrambling New Zealand defence swarms around to quickly gobble that attack up.
Crowd-pleasing stuff from Namibia. Keeping the tournament favourites on their toes.

Namibia are giving it everything in defence, but I am worried that they are going to punch themselves out if they keep going at the breakdown with that ferocity.

Harlem Globetrotters stuff from the All Blacks to keep the ball moving right through a series of pop-passes and eccentric offloads. Namibia are up quickly though in defence.

And that Namibia lead is quickly wiped out…
Jordie Barrett collects the ball at 10 from a New Zealand line-out and dinks a well-weighted crossfield kick into the path of Sevu Reece on the opposite flank.
The prolific All Blacks wing still has work to do, but shrugs off a Namibian tackler with a quick, powerful step to canter across the line. Nice finish.

250-1 outsiders?
New Zealand v Namibia (05:45 BST)
Namibia’s World Cup record is not quite as impressive:
Namibiahave not won any of their 21 matchesat World Cups – the most matches of any side yet to win.
Namibia’sworst World Cup defeatwas in 2003 when Australia ran up a cricket score to win 142-0 at the Adelaide Oval.
The last time Namibia beat a tier one nation was when they defeated Ireland 26-15 in Windhoek28 years ago.
Some bookmakers have the African side at odds as big as250-1 to win.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham highlights as Kane and Vinicius seal important win for Mourinho
That was lively, and Villa are asking a question or two again now. First of all, his cross flies harmlessly away from goal, but Villa keep the ball, and Sanson spurs vs villa live then played in again immediately with a more penetrating run to the byline. He crosses for Douglas Luiz, who miscues his shot with a clear sight of goal. Again, Villa threaten immediately, and McGinn hits a tame spurs vs villa live which Lloris saves with ease. He cuts lvie Cash, thinks about shooting for the far post, vila then opts instead to roll a pass with the outside of his foot towards Kane.

Nearly Tottenham lead, but Mourinho is already half way down the tunnel, muttering to himself and looking furious. It was, in truth, a fairly sloppy first-half effort from his team and they are probably a bit lucky to be in spirs.
Spurs vs villa live to play for in the second half - see you shortly. Moura pumps it into the six-yard box. Ndombele makes a driving run across halfway and is fouled by Watkins. From the free-kick, Targett swings it in, and they win a corner. Traore then bends another dangerous-looking ball into the crowded penalty area but Tottenham clear. Surs Smith and John Terry are pictured in their technical area, looking suitably concerned.
Spurs score! He rushes goalwards and spurs vs villa live passes with Kane, who holds the ball up cleverly again for a second or two, then plays Moura in towards the byline. Konsa is viloa with a challenge from the Tottenham forward after receiving the ball on the touchline.
They square up to each other, but - thank God - Lucas Moura is on hand to split them up. Updated at spurss. Spurs vs villa live launches a perceptive crossfield pass, right to left, as the Spurs defence looks to step livs.
Targett dives in to meet it, in loads of space, but miscues slightly and Spurs survive. The injured Jack Grealish is now pictured sitting in the stand, filla a ludicrous white tracksuit with black Nike swooshs and a beanie hat. Ireland's World Cup preparations back on track as Warren Gatland's Cardiff swansong is ruined
New Post has been published on https://diary.nz/irelands-world-cup-preparations-back-on-track-as-warren-gatlands-cardiff-swansong-is-ruined/
Ireland's World Cup preparations back on track as Warren Gatland's Cardiff swansong is ruined
Wales 17 Ireland 22
Such are the vagaries of World Rugby’s ranking system that despite their annus horribilis on the pitch, culminating in last weekend’s 57-15 shellacking at Twickenham, Ireland would have replaced Wales as world No 1 had they won this match by more than 15 points.
They nearly did it, too. At one point in the second half Joe Schmidt’s team were 22-3 up and cruising. The two late tries Ireland conceded as Wales belatedly came to life will annoy Schmidt more than the lost No 1 ranking, as they ultimately ran out 22-17 winners.
The Ireland coach will be delighted with the response he got from his team though.
There is only so much you can read into these warm-up clashes. This was very much a Wales ‘B’ team against a mix-and-match Ireland side, and the game was played in front of a strangely subdued crowd considering it was Warren Gatland’s 67th and final home game as Wales coach.
But still. After their beating at Twickenham, it was a hugely welcome performance from an Irish perspective with a number of fringe players putting their hands up for World Cup selection.
Dave Kilcoyne was monstrous in the first half, making eight tackles, winning two scrum penalties, carrying for 31 metres and beating five defenders including Josh Navidi and Samson Lee in the build up to Stockdale’s first try. Will Addison and Andrew Conway both had fine games in the Ireland back three, while James Ryan made a tangible difference in the Ireland engine room. Even those who might have been mentally scarred from last weekend looked sharper. Perhaps that was just Jacob Stockdale’s haircut. Like Samson in reverse, the Ulster winger looked a man reborn without the flowing mane which adorned his head last weekend.

Schmidt will also have been delighted with what he saw from Jack Carty at fly half.
With Joey Carbery unlikely to be ready before the Scotland game, and Johnny Sexton still wrapped up in cotton wool, Schmidt desperately needs another 10 to step up to the plate.
Carty, on only his fourth cap, was named man of the match, deserved reward for performance which showed guts as well as accuracy.
Wales arguably learnt less from the afternoon’s activities. Rhys Patchell and Tomos Williams came on and made a difference in the second half, with Patchell – whose try five minutes from time got Wales back to within five points – likely to get the nod over Jarrod Evans on this showing. But by then the game had broken down amid all the substitutions.
Ireland were the better team for an hour. In classic Gatland fashion, the Kiwi had lobbed a snarky grenade into the Irish camp in the build-up, suggesting Schmidt was unsure of his best lineup, that his players might be “too old”, that Wales could “derail” Ireland’s World Cup train.
His barbs would undoubtedly have rankled with Schmidt, who sees and hears everything from his bunker. But instead of unsettling Ireland, they had the effect of awakening Irish pride. The visitors were sharper, snappier than their hosts for the first hour at least.
Stockdale produced an early turnover after a tackle on Owen Lane and that set the tone for the first half.
Jarrod Evans, auditioning for his role as back-up to Dan Biggar, produced with a mixed bag. He did well to clear his lines after collecting an Addison grubber and rounding Andrew Conway. He also produced one peach of a crossfield kick to Lane. But he missed an easy penalty when Wales were trailing 10-3.
Ireland scored with their first shy at the posts, Carty making no mistake after captain for the day Josh Navidi strayed offside.
Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland during the international match against Ireland at The Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Wales, Saturday Aug. 31, 2019. (Adam Davy/PA via AP)
Wales drew level from right in front of the posts after their own captain for the day Peter O’Mahony was pinged for failing to release.
Stockdale’s first was a beauty. Kilcoyne made the initial break, then Carty skipped through the midfield offloading to Conway who stepped inside a couple of tacklers before spinning the ball out to Stockdale. Carty converted from the touchline as well.
Wales only had themselves to blame for Stockdale’s second. Wales had possession on the halfway line, but Aaron Shingler’s attempted offload out of the back of his hand fell behind all of his team mates. Stockdale fly hacked the loose ball and collected to touch down in the corner. “Come on Wales, wake up!” screamed a disgruntled fan behind the press box.
Wales close to 70 per cent of the territory in first half but very little to show for it. A pitch invader in tight shorts had more success getting in behind Ireland..
The start of the second half continued in the same vein. Wales tighthead Samson Lee was replaced by Leon Brown, only to come back on when Brown, who was suffering a torrid time up against Ireland’s replacement loosehead Andrew Porter, was deemed guilty of collapsing one too many scrums. He had only lasted 10mins.
Conway touched down in the corner for the try which looked as if it would carry Ireland to No 1 but it was ruled out for a forward pass,. They got it a few minutes later, though, referee Romain Poite putting the entire stadium out of its misery by awarding Ireland a penalty try after 10 mins of scrum retakes.
It took an Owen Lane try in the corner to wake the crowd up again, and Wales belatedly began to apply some pressure, replacement halfbacks Williams and Patchell injecting some pace into proceedings.
Patchell it was who got Wales’s second try five minutes before the end, scampering through after a period of heavy Welsh pressure. But it was too little too late, Ireland restoring some much needed pride and momentum back into their World Cup campaign.
The two teams will do battle again in Dublin next week, when it is Gatland will attempt to get his own back by ruining Schmidt’s farewell party.

Manchester United news: Manchester United 4-0 Leeds as Reds easily see off their old rivals in Perth
Here's a glimpse into the exciting future that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has mapped out for his young Manchester United -side.
It's only mid-July and this was an inferior side to Leeds, but there were encouraging signs.
A first high target for Mason Greenwood, a great achievement by Marcus Rashford and
Tahith Chong is a very talented,

But Solskjaer will be happy with the energy and creativity he just wanted from his players after a little more.

Leeds and their supporters brought a lot to the party in an almost sold out Optus Stadium in what was the first encounter between these old rivals for almost eight years.
On their way to a second tour in Sydney while United fly to Singapore on Thursday, they are more than happy with the work they have done here in Perth
Solskjaer was unable to attend due to illness David De Gea and Romelu Lukaku, who sustained another injury during a training session when he was still strongly connected to a move to Inter Milan.

But United were still able to replace 13 substitutes. – 11 of whom
United had another advantage to the extent that Solskjaer and his players had been here for more than a week and had already played Perth Glory, while Leeds did not arrive until Sunday and their coach Marcelo Bielsa until Tuesday .
The difference was not so clear, However, during an entertaining and competitive first half in which United rightly scored two goals, but Leeds certainly played a role.
One day that Paul Pogba & # 39; s agent Mono Raiola did his best to raise even more doubts about his customers
It was Pogba & # 39; s outstanding vision and execution that led until the opening goal of United in the seventh minute when he played a reverse pass on the path of Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right.
The new £ 50 million signing from United reached the ball for Jack Harrison and sent it over to the goal where Greenwood had timed perfectly to score a close finish.
The second goal took another 20 minutes to come and this time much thanks to the individual sparkle of Rashford. Leeds paid for his efforts to force an equalizer and United broke into the field.

Scott McTominay brought the ball to Rashford who sold a nice dummy to Gaetano Berardi before he casually passed the ball Kiko dropped
The Premier League side could have added a few more in the first half. Rashford hit the post early with a low shot through the legs of Liam Cooper and Dan James did the same just before the break after giving a sparkling pace to get ahead in support of Rashford who held up Pogba & # 39; s pass and the ball played
Pogba also narrowly came close with a few attempts wide from the right post of Casilla, but the superiority of United was not clear enough for Marcos Rojo to surrender to a little showboating.
Red juggled the ball across the sidelines and then played an infield of the hospital pass on Juan Mata, who would not appreciate the challenge he had invited from Kalvin Phillips and brought the first booking of the game.

Leeds also had moments in an open game, especially in the 26th minute when Pablo Hernandez missed Harrison's low intersection on the left and the ball ran in front of Patrick Bamford in front of goal.
Red blocked another attempt by Hernandez after Harrison picked his teammate with a fantastic crossfield pass and Kemar Roofe headed straight to Romero from a corner before halftime
It brought another 11 changes by Solskjaer, just as he had done in a 2-0 win over Perth Glory on Saturday.
Andreas Pereira continued to wriggle on the floor due to a lunging challenge from Barry Douglas and Stuart Dallas had to go off after a stray arm of Anthony Martial and left him with a nasty cut in his right eye.

United advanced further in the 51st minute when Casilla produced a brilliant save to tilt the rise of Pereira and only see the Brazilians
] The youth again played a role in the fourth when Chong Cooper moved into the box with excellent craftsmanship and was defended by the defender's rash challenge.
Tempers flared up injury time again when Ashley Young accepted a challenge on Adam Forshaw who triggered a short fight and, perhaps surprisingly, only brought the second warning for the game.
A friendly, it certainly wasn't that that fits with Solskjaer. I wanted a good workout and his young players were up to the challenge.

Leeds United: Meslier, Ayling, White, Cooper, Dallas (Alioski 45), Phillips, Klich, Harrison (Berardi 90+6), Costa (Shackleton 90+3), Roberts (Alioski 45), Bamford.
Subs not used: Miazek, Douglas, Poveda, Struijk, Bogusz. Leeds United legend Jack Charlton died the day before this game. The Leeds team did their pre-match warm up in shirts bearing the words "Big Jack RIP" and there was a minute's silence before kick off to commemorate him. Charlton spent 21 years at Leeds United and made 762 appearances for the Whites. The last time we won in Swansea was way back in April 1964, when Big Jack was in the team and we ended the season being promoted to the top flight as Division 2 champions.... Once again the latest round of Championship fixtures were pre-arranged so that West Brom, Brentford and Fulham all played before Leeds. West Brom drew, which meant that they failed to overtake us at the top of the table, but Brentford and Fulham both won again, which reduced the gap between us and third place to three points. Swansea had everything to play for, because a win would move them into the top six, so the pressure was well and truly on Leeds. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be a tense game. Swansea had the best of the early exchanges and looked more dangerous going forward in the first half. They also closed us down well, making it difficult for us to get our passing game going and to get our wide players into the game. Chances were few and far between for both sides, and we had to wait until 27th minute for United's first meaningful attempt on goal, when Stuart Dallas saw a deflected effort from distance saved by Freddie Woodman. Five minutes later, Patrick Bamford spurned the best opportunity for either side before the break, when his close range shot was also kept out by Woodman. Marcelo Bielsa made two changes for Leeds at half time, replacing Dallas and Tyler Roberts with Gjanni Alioksi and Pablo Hernandez. However, Swansea again started more strongly and almost took the lead six minutes into the second period when Conor Gallagher's strike from just inside the Leeds box was tipped over the bar by Illan Meslier. But Leeds began to circulate the ball more effectively and had another excellent chance to open the scoring in the 64th minute. A perfect perfect crossfield ball from Hernandez found Jack Harrison in the Swansea box and he squared it for Bamford, whose diving header was deflected wide by Woodman. In the next few minutes Harrison and Hernadez both blasted the ball wastefully over the bar and it looked like we were heading for a draw. But in the 89th minute Luke Ayling picked up the ball deep in the Leeds half, took it forward to the half way line, passed it to Mateusz Klich, who found Helder Costa, who set off on a run down the right wing with Ayling overlapping. Ayling reached the byline, received the ball from Costa and cut it back to Hernandez, who took a controlling touch before firing low into the far corner of the net. Hernandez was booked a couple of minutes later for "excessive celebration"....
Leeds were untroubled during the eight minutes of added time and went home with all three points.
