Time for rating!

2017 World Men’s Handball Championship ended for Poland. It’s time for notes…

Important info before the judgement - our team was totally new, because some players finished their national careers and lots of the rest were injured. Our main goal was to gain valuable experience.

Poland vs Norway (20:22) - Quite good tournament start from polish players. Unfortunately, last 10 minutes was just bad.

Poland vs Brazil (24:28) - On the other hand, in this match the beginning was terrible. After some minutes we played evenly with Brazilians, but we couldn’t catch up.

Poland vs Russia (20:24) - That match just did not go our way. The beginning was promising, but finally we clearly lost. After this match we lost chances for playoffs.

Poland vs Japan (26:25) - First win! Japan gave us a lot of trouble, but we managed to win. The pressure wasn’t as big as before.

Poland - France (25:26) - Definitely the best match on this tournament! We played very evenly with world champions and we don’t gave them a chance to win more than one goal advantage.

Poland vs Tunisia (28:26) - I couldn’t watch this match, but I can see our first half was very good. Things got complicated in a second 30 minutes, but we managed to win.

Poland vs Argentina (24:22) - Balanced game, with a little bit of bad playing. Our come back from 17:22 to 24:22 was incredible! Chapeau bas!

Now let’s rate every single player in our team…

2 Marek Daćko (6/10) - Sometimes it was irritating when he threw the ball straight into the goalkeeper, but he gave us some important goals.

4 Krzysztof Łyżwa (5/10) - He often had problems with finding his teammates. The best match with Japan (4 goals).

5 Mateusz Jachlewski (6/10) - Quite good as wingman or centre backcourt, but we expected a little bit more from him. However, good tournament from his side, but he did some mistakes.

6 Przemysław Krajewski (7/10) - One of the leaders of our squad. He didn’t start the best, but he spins up from match to match.

7 Paweł Niewrzawa (5/10) - I don’t know what i can say about him. He had ups and downs.

10 Patryk Walczak (5/10) - Better in defense than as a pivot. In later matches he began to catch penalties.

12 Mateusz Kornecki (6/10) - He played only in the last match with Argentina, but that was amazing performance!

25 Arkadiusz Moryto (7/10) - The youngest player in our team. Only 19 years old, but sometimes he played like a experienced player. Big talent!

26 Michał Daszek (8/10) - Top scorer and the leader of polish attack. Sometimes it might be better, but still a good tournament.

28 Maciej Gębala (5/10) - Very averange performances without going crazy. In the shadow of brother.

30 Rafał Przybylski (6/10) - Quite good matches, he need more time in the national team.

33 Paweł Paczkowski (7/10) - He missed first match, but the rest of tournament was great. Hope he’ll be better and better.

38 Łukasz Gierak (5/10) - Nice beginning of the tournament and that’s all I can say about him.

48 Tomasz Gębala (6/10) - If he hadn’t so much mistakes. I would gave him 7/10. He isn’t the next Karol Bielecki, but I hope he’ll be the future of our national team.

49 Piotr Chrapkowski (5/10) - Sometimes his game wasn’t good. Strong in defense, but as a backcourt… To much mistakes. I expected more from him.

61 Adam Malcher (8/10) - He returns to the team with a great style. I was scared the most of our goalkepper, but that was a strong point of our team. I wonder that he defend his position in team when Piotr Wyszomirski will recover.

94 Adam Morawski (6/10) - He’s replacing well his namesake, when Malcher had a weakers moments.

To sum up, team gained important experience and I’m sure that Poland will be much stronger in Croatia in 2018! Mark my words!
