j.a. bayona (aka one of my fav directors) said “if you’re gonna do an adaptation of a book and it’s going to be exactly the same as the book […] don’t bother doing the movie. if it’s the same as the book, read the book.” AND “[as a filmmaker] you must be true to the essence but you NEED to add something”and i will never stop thinking about it neither as a filmmaker nor a reader…..
