Everyone in Advent City knows better than to get involved with the Bieris if they care for their life, yet for some reason, everyone pines for another look at Jo Bieri. Unlike Bieri Senior, Jo doesn’t care for seclusion, but even if one were to see them (likely in the Uber-rich corners of town), chances are they wouldn’t dole out even the most fleeting glance. Some say stuck-up, others say elitist, but it’s no secret that they’re the city’s most talked-about socialite. Although, the popularity doesn’t seem to bother or excite them, judging from the constant sneer on their face.
Jo is 25 and runs a nightclub in the city’s clubbing district, Luftkuss. Haughty and curt, they rarely have anything to say unless it’s a scathing insult… but you’ve met before, and for some reason, they don’t mind extending their verbal limit by a sentence or two around you.
Jo dresses smart and elegant, preferring formal luxury attire, complete with expensive accessories, limousine, accompanying chauffeur, etc etc. 5’9”, fair skin, dirty blond hair cut mid-length for Josephine and short for Joseph. Joseph is usually clean shaven.

Laboring at Big Bend Tunnel
New Jersey looms large in the history of Labor Day. Two labor organizers with roots in the state—Peter J. McGuire and Matthew Maguire—are often credited with being the first to propose the concept of a Labor Day holiday in the United States.
John Henry, legendary for his work on the railroads, was a nineteen-year-old who came from New Jersey as well, at least according to some historians. Many details of the folk hero’s life remain subject to historical dispute, but the ‘steel-driving’ freedman is widely lionized in ballads as a man who did battle with a steam-powered rock drill and won.
Steel drivers were laborers tasked with hammering dynamite holes into rock during the construction of railroad lines in the 1800s. As the legend goes, Henry—a freedman working on a tunnel on the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Railway in West Virginia—was so strong and skilled that he set out to prove to the railroad companies that he could drill faster than a steam-powered drill, a new tool that threatened the jobs of steel-drivers at the time.
“Using two 10-pound hammers, one in each hand, he pounded the drill so fast and so hard that he drilled a 14-foot hole into the rock,” according to an account of the contest published by the National Park Service. “The legend says that the drill was only able to drill nine feet. John Henry beat the steam drill and later died of exhaustion.”
There isn’t consensus on where the reputed contest took place, but one of the leading candidates is Big Bend Tunnel (also called Great Bend Tunnel) in West Virginia. The 6,450-foot (1,966-meter) tunnel cuts off an eight-mile bend in the Greenbrier River, which winds around Big Bend Mountain before joining the New River to the west. The tunnel, built by over 800 men, many freed slaves and Irish immigrants, was the longest on the C&O line when it was completed in 1872.
On August 23, 2024, the OLI (Operational Land Imager) on Landsat 8 captured this image of the area where the tunnel bores through red shale in Big Bend Mountain. Cleared forest along the track is visible on either side of the tunnel’s east and west boreholes. The town of Talcott, home to the John Henry Historical Park and an eight-foot-tall bronze statue of John Henry, is visible to the east of the tunnel.
Despite the historical park and research that points to Big Bend Tunnel as the location of Henry’s feat, some scholars believe that Lewis Tunnel, 45 miles to the east in Virginia, is a more likely setting for the duel. Others think that it may have happened in the Coosa and Oak Tunnels in Alabama.
Whatever the location, the legacy of John Henry lives on in songs performed by Arthur Bell, Harry Belafonte, Bruce Springsteen, Gabriel Brown, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, and many other musicians.
Few who have studied the legend believe Henry actually died of exhaustion during the contest. Others have suggested he died in a rock slide, from fever, or from the lung disease silicosis. Either way, his story has become a potent symbol of the sweat and sacrifice that American workers have given to build the United States into what it is today.

Young blood as anti-aging fountain of youth: hype or hope?
Young blood as anti-aging fountain of youth: hype or hope?
Imagine an old man and a teenager sitting side by side, with blood flowing from the kid to the oldster in a stab at anti-aging. Sort of like a one-way fountain of youth via blood flow…Sci-fi?
People are kind of trying it in the real world.
A self-described ‘clinical trial’ of a sort by a company called Ambrosia essentially lets you buy an infusion of a younger person’s blood in an attempt at…

Sebring Mansion 385 W. Ohio Ave. Sebring, OH 44672 Sebring is a village in Mahoning County, OH. It was platted in 1899 by the four Sebring brothers, who in 1900 established a pottery factory at the site. Frank A. Sebring saw during travels to Italy a mansion he wanted. He sent craftsmen measure the home, purchase the building materials and had them sent to Sebring to be built. The Frank A. Sebring residence was the last of the Sebring family's mansions to be built. Designed by Rawsthorne of Pittsburgh and completed in 1902, the home was built of Italian glazed bricks. It is located on the southeast corner of Ohio Avenue and 18th street. It featured 30 rooms, five bathrooms and six fireplaces. President William McKinley spent several nights as a guest in the home over the years as Frank was a main financial contributor to his campaigns. He owned the home until 1936. Frank was the founder of the Sebring Pottery Company and the Limoges China Company. He was also associated with the Salem China Company, Owen China of Minerva and the Bradshaw Company of Niles. Charles L. Sebring purchased the home from his uncle. He moved the Niles plant to Alliance and operated it under the name Leigh Pottery Company. Later owned by the Holt family, in 1970 the home was bought by Mr. and Mrs Thomas Burkhart, the seventh family to own the home. The Frank A. Sebring Mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places. Through the efforts of Mrs. J. Lynn Biery, it has undergone major restoration to create a country inn. The home has come alive again and will be preserved for future generations. A destination within itself, this romantic national historical registered Inn has the feel of being dropped into a Norman Rockwell painting, but offers the charm and amenities of turn of the century opulence. Each of the rooms has its own chronicle that preserves over a century of history, honoring craftsmanship and paying tribute to noteworthy people who settled Sebring. The Sebring Mansion's four fabulous guest rooms feature authentic antiques, 2-person whirlpool tubs, in-room remote control fireplaces and private balconies. Packages are available to create a one of a kind romantic get away. The Mansion also features banquet and meeting facilities

Do you have any face claims for the ROs? I’d love to see how you imagine the characters!
haha i didn't necessarily have any face claims for the ROs but now that u asked i've thought long and hard about it
luiz definitely has a rugged kind of look, i imagine like jeffrey dean morgan in the 90s
gina carano reminds me SO MUCH of luz. it just makes sense to me. ofc luz has brown hair tho!
damson idris is soooo vinny coded
i imagine jo to have a pointy face and nose, but i couldn't really find any exact face claims! for now i'd say this version of blonde megan fox for josephine and mike fast for joseph (but blond ofc)
this specific picture of dhruv vikram is very m!arya. other pictures of him aren't as apt, so i'm sticking w this forever
meenakshi choudhary is almost exactly how i imagine f!arya !!
for technical reasons i can't reveal too much about nian but the girl has gorgeous long black hair, something like these two:
i'm still not too sure about joseph's lmao if anyone has any suggestions pls do let me know! these are just my own personal ones, i don't want to stop people from imagining the characters however they want to apart from the base level of detail in their character intro.
thanks for your question <3

(In the relationship stage) how would the ROs react to an orphan route MC that likes to spoiled them?
cute question!
aguilera is super weird with money. in the initial stages of the relationship they would be very awkward with getting spoiled/accepting gifts and mentally make a note to “repay” MC with another gift, by paying for lunch/dinner, etc. as the relationship progresses they would ease into it and come to really love it haha
vinny is a serial gift giver, he’s all about gifting little or big things. he would welcome an MC that tends to spoil their partner with open arms and would be super cute about it, like playfully trying to “out-spoil” MC. he loves it and doesn’t bother hiding it either
nian is also sort of awkward with money but she’d find it very cute and try to reciprocate in her own way. unlike aguilera it’s not to “repay” MC’s actions but instead something she’d do without thinking, motivated by affection. she’ll roll her eyes playfully when MC spoils her but would bask in it internally.
bieri is an A-grade spoiler but for the wrong reasons. they’ve dated casually before and usually “spoil” their partners with gifts and expensive dinners etc as an easy cheat for them to not have to get emotionally involved. MC spoiling them would at first make them feel odd but once they find out it’s out of affection they’d get comfortable with it.
arya wouldn’t really dwell on it to a certain, because as friends they were definitely the type to buy MC stuff and prevent MC from paying, so they’d assume this was something similar. if it gets excessive though they’d sit and have a chat with MC like “babe i love u and the fact that u have money but pls you’re spending on the wrong person. what am i going to with any of this.” jokes aside if MC was spoiling them they’d make sure that MC also gets a good share of what they bought because it “makes sense” for them to experience it together

How would the ROs react if every time they meet up with civilian MC they are always late and would give them different excuses when in reality MC was held back by super hero stuff
(Bonus is that Arya remembers that MC was normally always on time)
this is a great question because it’s definitely something that pops up in the story!
i imagine aguilera would be instantly suspicious. especially if something big has happened in the city that the police have got to know about, the cogs in their brain would instantly start turning. unless the cover-up is super convincing and they’re given probable cause to believe otherwise, the suspicion would stay.
nian would be similarly suspicious, but that’s only when she’s not involved in the same matter as well. if she was involved in the same superhero business as MC she’d be trying her hardest to dole out convincing excuses as well lmfaoo
jo would be annoyed at first, because their time is getting wasted as they wait. depending on how good the excuse is, they’re surprisingly the most likely to accept it as is and simply chalk it up to MC just not being a punctual person. if the excuse isn’t too good they’d assume MC was hiding something but not really want to probe into it deeper
vinny at first would also just assume that MC isn’t punctual, but as time goes on he’d start to get suspicious too. i imagine he’d be in denial about it for a long time though, especially if he’s close with MC, and before he makes a conclusion he’d attempt to gather as much evidence as possible so that he doesn’t falsely accuse or make ill-thought assumptions
arya would be worried at first, especially if MC normally used to be on time. they’d be concerned that MC is going through something really bad. they wouldn’t assume that it’s related to superhero stuff at first, they’d be more concerned that something was wrong with MC’s personal life that they’re struggling with

Heyyyyyy. I love this already and i have to let you know I'm probably gonna obsess over the childhood friend route but MOST DEFINITELY going for J.
I adore messy romances and they sound exasperating and frustrating and i wanna roll my goddamn eyes while simultaneously wonder what they would do if my MC just kissed them solely to shut them the fuck up.
Thank you for giving me messyships. I adore them. Also will throw it in their father's face.
Most likely.
Do you mind sharing some facts about those two specific ROs like random non spoilery facts if you please 😭😇❤️
heyy, thank you so much! messy romances is a recurring thing in advent. i had a feeling that J would prove to be popular haha i'm so glad though <3 i'm hijacking your ask to add facts for all the ROs, hope that's okay lmfao
Arya: was an overachiever at school. head girl/boy, valedictorian, president of debate club, varsity athlete etc etc they were a FORCE
Josephine/Joseph: biiiig sports fan. definitely doesn't look like one, but they adore basketball in particular. of course, it helps that their dad basically owns advent city's basketball team, so...
Luiz/Luz: likes cooking. it's possible that what they really like is feeding people (a trait they got from their father), but they're a damn good cook and they know it
Nian: for legal reasons, her identity is secret... but she loves motorcycles, both fixing them up and riding them. probably why you'll see her on one often
Vinny: isn't actually an Advent City native - he grew up in a small town about an hour away and has a big family. needless to say, he loves both city living and living alone
thanks so much for your ask :)

If we choose rich orphan route for MC have they met J before ? And do they do business at all ?
MC has met jo before regardless of what route they’re on !! and no, they haven’t. the mafia operates in a completely different side of the city, and MC’s parents are canonically good people who wouldn’t associate with the bieris
