I finally finished rewatching yugioh 5ds. As expected the last few episodes had me crying. I can't watch the scene when they split up without crying.

The ending managed to be decent enough with all the unanswered plot threads.

Jack's character assassination really erked me. Especially since he told Crow to server bonds that no longer help you grow. Or something along those lines. I feel like that should have been worded better or not directed at the character who's sole gimmick is that he gains power in numbers (blackwings).

Akiza's love confession to Yusei (let me dream) made me cry. I still remember seeing this first the first time back when I was younger I was so happy. Still gets me every time. Makes me wish Jack had any meaningful conversation with Carly.

Honestly I'd like to think that Akiza still duels even after becoming a doctor. No reason she can't do both. Also she keeps her powers in my headcanon. I don't know what the show was going for with that, but it's barely touched upon the show that it should just not be a plot point anyways.

Crow spreading his wings (pun intended) and finally leaving the city is a nice end for his character. His story plays out like the legend as he is the symbol of hope for the children he took care of. He definitely sends money back to the kids and Martha.

Not much to say on the twins unfortunately. I would have liked if the show touched upon Luna’s powers after the dark signer arc.

Yusei being the only one who stays behind is sad. I'd like to think that eventually he leaves the city too. It would show that he has trust in the future that the bad end has been avoided. Plus he has to live his own life too outside the shadows of his father.

This has been a good rewatch for me.

Birthday art for Ishigami, getting his flower plan uno-reversed!

The concept is a little too obscure so I wasn't called out on it on Twitter, but Miko's bouquet to Ishigami is in itself a flower message.

The short novel suggested she was able to identify the sutera (which let me tell you, is a HELLISH OBSCURE FLOWER. It definitely isn't something a regular person would -think- of researching nor successfully identify without research or walking into a VERY GOOD flower shop) and in the short novel she learns Ishigami is knowledagable about flowers in general and likes them a lot, enough to ramble with a dreamy look, so I think she's exactly the kind of girl to match him in his level of "wow that's creepy and cringe" to do the same for him.

This bouquet is a riddle with the first syllable of each flower.

vira ixia // verses

main verse   vira’s main verse is the verse i had in mind for her when i created her at shadowbringers launch; previously an assassin of the highest caliber, she “left” the profession to become a hostess/courtesan -- one who is highly sought after. aside from one client, not even her most trusted are given even a hint of her past. instead, if someone drunkenly rambles about needing a hit done, or that they need information not easily unobtainable, she recommends her close friend “maya,” and offers to pass along a message and meeting point for them to discuss terms.   in reality, maya is simply vira under the disguise of glamour magicks - the only magick she can cast with proficiency. maya appears as a miqo’te; one who is rather tall for her race. vira cannot yet change her hair color or eye color, and often leaves her beauty mark visible as well. because of this, she keeps her face partially obscured with a masked turban.   currently, vira resides at the headquarters of the company cerberius, serving as a personal courtesan of the company’s leader, kye. she also serves to feed him information on whatever he requests, as gathering intel from drunk, loose-lipped men and women is a particularly easy job.

alt verse // the warrior of light   vira’s WoL verse is about as standard as it goes, following the story for the most part. however, she is extremely proficient in magicks in this verse, and fights as a red mage. deviating from the story, vira is head-over-heels for g’raha tia, and vice versa. on ao3, i’ve written a short two-chapter fic about their reunion on the first (please note that the second chapter is explicitly nsfw).   although she knows that she can’t currently leave the scions and her duties as the warrior of light, vira does plan to eventually return to the first to live permanently with g’raha.

I don't go here but the idea of Akiza losing her powers just gives me question marks.

It's not a bad idea.

But, it should have been left in the drafts.

Maybe I am looking in all the wrong places but I expected there to be more Leo and Luna content. It took me only 15 minutes to scroll through their tags on here.

If it isn't just me looking in the wrong places then the lack of content is laughable. Since their names get invoked when people bring up Crow 'stealing' screentime. Yet there is barely any fan content of them.

Remembering that Crow's manga version got the most valentine's chocolate beating Yusei, the main character, makes me happy.

Let's me know somewhere he is appreciated in this awful fandom.

Dark Signer Crow is something I am glad is a thing that has fallen out of favor with fans as the years went on. It only existed because of those lies about Crow's inclusion in the show. And the further we can get away from those lies, the better.

Looking at what we got, it feels like they would have had to make Crow a completely different character.

I can't really see why Crow would become a Dark Signer. Unless he was forced or tricked into it.

Or maybe the kids die, but then that would require events to happen differently.

Crow and Greiger are so similar it would feel like telling the same story twice.

I would have liked to see what they would have done. I much prefer that Dark Signer Crow got left in the drafts where it belongs.

Crow's backstory confuses me.

Did Blackbird have the wings when Pearson made it? He dosen't strike me as the kind who would the legend to heart that much.

It raises the question of if Pearson was the original chosen one had he not been killed.

It feels cobbled together because they realized that Crow has no Dragon. It would have been better to just not give him a dragon. And expand on the lore of the Signers. How does the selection process go?

This can be called a reach, because it is.

I just feel like Crow would feel very lonely at times.

He had to rely on himself to survive as a child. Then has to keep doing that when he is older while also taking care of kids. Once Pearson dies he just has no one until he meets Yuesi again.

No wonder he turns to the legend for a semblance of hope.

He hand no one cheering for him during the fight against Goodwin.

Trudge's cheer for Crow felt like a pity cheer.

Aki and the twins were cheering for Yusei. Mina was cheering for Jack.

Like, all the people who would cheer for Crow is dead.

I know this will sound stupid.

I wish team Ragnorok had been introduced in season 3. Just so Crow would have someone else to hangout with in Brave/Broder.

Jack has Carly.

Yusei has Akiza and Bruno.

The twins even have their own friend group from school.

Crow is just only seen with everyone else.

How does Crow's kids get to the city? They just poof into existence during the duel with Bolton. I don't know if Trudge and Mina stay with them after Trudge saves Ginga's life.

The bridge is a super highway, who drives them across and leaves them alone?

How did they get into the tournament? They are clearly underage and have no money. Was the WRPG free?

Why was Crow not asking how they cross the bridge? Does he know how they get to the city?

Having a character ruined for you because the fans are obnoxious is the worst feeling.

They love spreading the lies about Crow the most.
