I listen intently to music and lyrics through sound cancelling headphones while conceptualizing a piece to help open up my imagination, conjure ideas and stimulate my creativity. Music plays an important role in how each one manifests and often they are titled after the song that inspired them. This 2014 assemblage 'I Want to Hold the Hand Inside You' (14" x 13" x 6", Sold) is particularly special because it’s song is "Fade into You" of favorite band Mazzy Star from their second album, So Tonight That I Might See (1993). It was also the first work of mine that was purchased by who would go on to become my biggest collector. He now owns a dozen or more of my pieces and we are dear friends. "I wanna hold the hand inside you I wanna take the breath that's true I look to you and I see nothing I look to you to see the truth" "You live your life, you go in shadows You'll come apart and you'll go black Some kind of night into your darkness Colors your eyes with what's not there" "Fade into you Strange you never knew Fade into you I think it's strange you never knew" #mazzystar #artinspiredbylyrics #iwantotholdthehandinsideyou #fadeintoyou #musicismymuse #musicmuse #inspiredbylyrics #starfish #gearhead #takemyhand #assemblageart #assemblageartists #foundobjectart #diannehoffmanart #artistsmakethebestfriends https://www.instagram.com/p/CZmu5MHJrh4/?utm_medium=tumblr
