here are some taylor swift songs i think each of the sides would like! (with some explanation)
nobody asked for this but im doing this instead of my APUSH homework. i’m going to start with roman and go through all of them!
(some ships are mentioned but it’s only a couple times. i promise it’s not all the songs.)
(roman has the most because he would be the biggest swiftie leave me alone)
Roman
enchanted- you cannot tell me roman wouldn’t love the disney romcom vibes of this song. he would love how sweet it was. it’s like meeting your hero.
i bet you think about me - he’s so petty. he would eat this song up.
mirrorball - i feel like this is a given. he would relate an insane amount to this song.
hoax - “your faithless love is the only hoax i believe in” be so fr. this could apply to any of his friendships or relationships with the other sides. his blind faith in the other sides. yeah.
the archer - we all knew this was coming. he would sob listening to this song.
jump then fall - again with the hopeless romantic bit. he would just thing this song is really cute.
question…? - i just think he’d have fun with song. he’d like the beat and just how much of a bop it is.
tolerate it - do i really have to explain myself? come on. he tolerates all the insults. this is his like standing up for himself era.
king of my heart - king is literally in the title. he would again just have fun with this song. so disney prince of him.
champagne problems - feeling the bad guy and knowing you fucked up. it’s so him oh my god don’t even with me.
i could continue. i won’t. next up is logan!
Logan
say don’t go - i just feel like logan would really relate to needing to hear someone tell him not to leave when he gets into an argument.
innocent - i can’t explain this one i just feel like he would get it.
the lakes - he would love the lakes and just this idea of loving someone like this. “take me to the lakes where are all the poets went to die”. this is his song.
marjorie - i feel like he would appreciate that taylor used her grandmothers vocals for this. i feel like he’s more in it for the genius behind her lyrics.
delicate - he lacks understanding of social cues often. “i know that it’s delicate”. he would eat this song up.
glitch - he would get this song in ways i can’t even describe. he would love the beat. his vibes fr.
no body, no crime - a story based song. he would think about this all the time.
lover - idk a reason i just think he’d really enjoy this song.
Patton
never grow up - he’s like a dad. so. watching his kids grow up. it would destroy him.
invisible string - i feel like he would love the idea of the string of fate. he would like the idea that he was just supposed to know these people.
you’re on your own kid - he would feel the pressure of just being on his own and feeling the pressure of being the moral compass.
state of grace - he feels like everyone is the “worth while fight”. yeah you know what i’m saying.
ivy - “you pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand” THE CARETAKER AGAIN
Me! - listen i know it’s not everyone’s favorite but this makes so much sense. the bright colors. the message of the song. the whole thing screams patton.
long live - he would think it’s a really sweet song. he adores the whole message and just how sweet it is. the nostalgia aspect. yeah.
love story - if anyone was getting this song it would be patton. queue the scene of richie from the bear where he is singing this in the car. that’s pat.
Virgil
electric touch - this is so in your face obvious. of course virgil would love the song with fob on it.
clean - i feel like he would relate to this. he’s finally not an “other side” and he’s just virgil. but he sometimes still misses them.
today was a fairytale - i feel like he would be unapologetically a fearless fan. he’s more of a hopeless romantic than i’m willing to admit. it’s so prinxiety coded idk.
closure - idk just very like “other sides apologize” to virgil. (i believe firmly in sympathetic other sides but i think virgil would struggle for a bit to forgive them)
my tears ricochet - “an i can go anywhere i want, anywhere i want just not home.” home was confusing for a bit. where did he belong? yk?
afterglow - the bridge sounds like asking for reassurance during a panic attack. he would love this song.
the lucky one - he for a bit thought that he was the lucky one but realized that all the sides are messy and no one is perfect.
new year’s day - this is so analogince and it would remind him of his boyfriends. he would pick up bottles with them on new year’s day.
holy shit this is getting long. i’m sorry.
Janus
mastermind - he is so this song. he would love this song. he masterminds everything so i just know he would adore this song.
foolish one - i don’t know but i feel like he would love this song in a way no one can understand.
bigger than the whole sky - he probably feels remorse for all he did to roman. maybe he’s saying goodbye to the possibility of friendship? i don’t know but he would like this song.
you’re losing me - i really don’t have explanations for all these. i feel like janus angst always. he would like how this songs has a lot of self blaming.
bad blood - he has beef with a lot of people. i think he would enjoy this song ironically at first. then he didn’t.
so it goes - he is rocking out to this in his room. i just know it in my heart and soul and it makes me nuts.
dear reader - “if it feels like a trap, you’re already in one” this just feels like janus’ internal monologue. all the contradictions feels like deceit. yeah.
cowboy like me - he just wants someone to want the things he wants. he loves this song. it makes sense in his head.
Remus
cruel summer - he would love the beat. he could and would shake ass to this song.
getaway car - i think he’d endorse the message of this song and think it’s a lot of fun.
cardigan - he comes out when people are bored of roman. he definitely struggled being pushed aside so he likes cardigan a lot.
the way i loved you - he would love the idea that even after fighting with someone an insane amount you can still miss them.
i don’t have anything else for remus. i hope this makes sense. if not i apologize. if you think of anything else for remus let me know. i am just slightly nuts about taylor swift.

Can you reccomend your fave smutty rad bouquet fics? Either your own or other peoples. Looking for new reading material.
OKAY forgive me please for taking literally weeks to actually get to this. the entirety of my March was spent slowly and then very quickly moving to a new house, and it has been CHAOS over here.
MORE IMPORTANTLY! Happy Lizard Kissin' Tuesday, let me recommend some SMUT.
(tho honestly you'd do just as well checking my bookmarks on ao3 because... for some bizarre reason the smutty stuff is the ONLY thing i ever think to bookmark? I don't get it.)
HERE we go. These aren't really in an order but i'm starting with my three all-time faves and then moving to some sturdy solid mainstays:
Sir Arum and the Green Knight [ao3] (27k words) - I mean it's a green knight au AND a monster-human swap au AND it's full of fucking feelings and ALSO it's joyously smutty and ALSO- look!!! i keep this fic open in a tab on my phone at all times. I truly love the way this one is written. it was the first fic i EVER bookmarked. i would call it plot with porn rather than the alternative but the sexy chapter is VERY sexy.
Here's Eglantine, Here's Ivy [ao3] (5k) - PWP Of All Time for me. ALL TIME. Pure and beautiful kink, Arum playing dom and slowly and perfectly ruining his humans with magic vines. i am ruined also by this fic. good lord.
The Honey of Our Lit Up Veins [ao3] (5k) - also magic sex vines! don't perceive my vibes from this. I love Damien in this one honestly, he's so very sweet and his inner emotional path throughout the fic is so deeply enjoyable and relatable.
.💖.
A Shift in Leverage [ao3] (9k) - Rilla in armor. Rilla in armor getting fucked by an extremely enthusiastic Arum. Rilla in armor getting to fuck an extremely enthusiastic Arum. It's all incredibly enormously sexy and lovely and warm and i fucking adore it.
in my world (constantly, constantly) [ao3] (6k) - Very soft and sweet and gentle, i love to see damien get taken care of in ALL capacities 🥺🥰
easy like [ao3] (4k) - I associate this one with like... slow lazy summer warmth. honey gold. it's a soft happy place for me. and also it's fucking sexy.
Snapdragon [ao3] (8k) - includes the tag "T4T4L (trans 4 trans 4 lizard)" so like. yesssssss. Rilla breaking the other two is extremely my jam. Hell yeah.
should've worshipped her sooner [ao3] (4.5k) - I mean you start with a hozier inspired title and then the fic is about damien getting pegged, so. All good all around. fucking LOVE it.
selfish prayers [ao3] (4k) - ... another magic tentacle one. there was a THING going on for a while, it's honestly not my fault. This one is shockingly funny? Arum in particular is so fucking charming, but it's also VERY sexy.
I smelled no salt, I touched no sand [ao3] (3k) - okay this one is probably the most nonstandard pull on here because it's sir damien/saint damien and maybe that's not what you'd expect but . it's written by the same person who wrote the green knight au and it's honestly VERY compelling! i love it very much ngl.
Also this isn't a fic BUT honorable mention to:
lilf rights! [ao3] (art!) - Genuinely and truly the best and most joyous smutty bouquet art in the world. One of the pieces overtly inspired a chapter of hb3! go. enjoy. ENJOY.
...
and okay sure my own smut is here

this is only sort of related to the taylor swift asks but i thought you’d be the right person to ask! so one of my best friends is a huge taylor swift fan while i don’t know her stuff so well but i’m usually in charge of making playlists for our road trips. so my question is, do you have any taylor swift songs that make you think of middle-earth? any characters, any lands, any themes. i’m putting together a playlist for our summer adventures kind of with a soft vibe and with themes of adventure and heartache. no pressure at all and you can totally ignore this if it doesn’t match what you were thinking of, but i guess i’m asking about like a top ten middle-earth like songs? 💖
slkhslksj firstly, consider me flattered that you came to me for this!!! i am so happy 🥰🥰🥰 secondly, how sweet is it that you're making a playlist for your summer friendship adventure and you want to include the songs by an artist whom your friend loves - they're rly lucky 💛
Timeless (taylor's version) which literally came out today!
You're on your own kid (@sweetpea-thoughts said it was a Frodo song the other day and that's on my mind)
Safe and sound ft. Joy Williams (Taylor's version)
August (generally the album "folklore")
The lakes
The best day (not necessarily middle-earth vibe but cute for friend appreciation)
willow
ivy
new year's day
wonderland
sweeter than fiction
our song (not heartache-y but a very lovely song)
yes this is more than 10, and they all have different vibes, but i wanted to give you a variety!!! have fun 😚

Elaborate. (I very much agree BUT I want to listen to u rambling <3)
HELLO hiiii how r u (◍•ᴗ•◍)💗 I know I can trust you to listen to me rambling <33
so this is my essay on how Blonde by Frank Ocean is about Formula 1
(disclaimer ik what this album is about and I don't wanna 'erase' that meaning. I'm just giving a f1-perspective :))
NIKES
iconic first track.
"we’ll let you guys prophesy, we gon’ see the future first"
so, these lines about the expectation on the races, like this would be from a driver's pov talking to a journalist
"living so the last night feels like a past life"
this magnificent line has a very direct meaning ofc but just think,,, this after a race weekend,, especially a bad race,,
also the line "my balls sticking to my jeans" is giving me Magnussen vibes ngl
IVY
"I broke your heart last week you'll probably feel better by the weekend"
this line is sooo Formula 1. every weekend is a new opportunity and it doesn't matter what you did last week (I'm oversimplifying here ofc).
this song especially reminds me of brocedes and other friendships that started in childhood like esteban and pierre, in many many lines, but to say some:
"oh, I could hate you now it's quite alright to hate me now when we both know that deep down the feeling still deep down is good" "in the halls of your hotel arm around my shoulder so I could tell how much I meant to you, meant it sincere back then we had time to kill back then you ain't a kid no more"
BE YOURSELF
honestly I love this audio (would it be considered a song? idk). but well you see the thing, don't do drugs if you want to be an athlete.
also the lines:
"don't try to be someone else don't try to be like someone else don't try to act like someone else, be yourself be secure with yourself rely and trust upon your own decisions on your own beliefs"
can be related to the deal with fame and how it can be difficult to stay true to yourself when you have such a big repercussion
SKYLINE TO
this song is about the summer break you can't change my mind. here are some of the lyrics:
"solstice ain’t as far as it used to be it begins to blur, we get older summer’s not as long as it used to be"
especially from the perspective of an experienced driver, who has been on the sport for many seasons
PRETTY SWEET
the first lines of this song are like made for F1 omg. especially the first four lines:
"now to the edge I'll race to the end I'll make it all the risk I'll take it"
I know they can be applied to anything in life etc but just look at them kgkldkkv. formula 1.
"said you wanna hurt me now you can't hurt me now that might be what you need"
just formula 1 battles. see the most recent (chestappen) as an example
FACEBOOK STORY
literally Esteban Ocon's voice.
jokes aside, the impact that the drivers have on social media and how it affects their relationships (I'm sure you can think of an example)
WHITE FERRARI
do I even have to. I mean
"white ferrari, had a good time (sweet sixteen, how was I supposed to know anything?)"
literally Charles Leclerc. I mean the fact that he races with number 16, also white ferrari could be Alfa Romeo and he had quite a good time there (being a bit delusional here)
"I care for you still and I will forever that was my part of the deal, honest we got so familiar spending each day of the year"
honestly I kinda see this as relationships between drivers who have been seeing each other in the paddock for many years (even some before, in karting)
"I'm sure we're taller in another dimension"
Ferrari and Charles could have been much more </3 maybe in another timeline he'll be world champion (maybe on this one)
SEIGFRIED
"I can’t relate to my peers I’d rather live outside I’d rather chip my pride than lose my mind out here maybe I’m a fool maybe I should move and settle two kids and a swimming pool"
sooo these lyrics (and this song in general) are related to Frank's sexuality and the concept of tough, stoic masculinity, and as we know most sports demand men to be very "masculine", including Formula 1
"maybe I'm a fool to settle for a place with some nice views"
Monaco has some nice views doesn't it
also those last lines
"(in the dark) I’d do anything for you (in the dark)"
could relate to the things that we don't see when watching the sport, like what is going on inside a team (again, bringing us to chestapp-)
aand I left so many songs (Nights, Godspeed, Futura Free,,,) and I'm sorry about it :') anyway steam Blonde by Frank Ocean

*pirouette**arabesque* just dancing in to give another unsolicited song recommendation - "love you like that" by dagny is the song for all your "blair fell first" needs (and workout/power walk mixes). I would include my lyrics of choice, but really it's the whole dang thing, so I'll just drop in part of the chorus: "you know when they say you got the real thing / and nothing else matters? / I love you like that / I love you like that." INSTANT SEROTONIN TO MY BRAIN.
*clumsily soft-shoes in* soooooo funny thing about these lovely unsolicited song recommendations (which are always welcome)…I made you a Thing:
nevertothethird’s Unofficial Dair Playlist
(aka Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf Are Total Saps: the Album)
So I took all of your recs from the ask box and ao3 comments, added a few of my own selected tracks and made 🥁🥁🥁 this playlist!
Youtube link here. Tracklist & annotations under the cut. I hope you enjoy! 💖💖💖
Young and in Love - Ingrid Michaelson
Starting strong with this absolute BOP
And you break my walls down (Coming down) / 'Cause you make me fall apart in a good way
Only You - as performed by Joshua Radin
Pulled directly from the ao3 comments on the milo-verse. I was immediately interested bc I love the original so much. Which may or may not be Captain Swan related
Wonder if you'll understand / It's just the touch of your hand / Behind a closed door
Like Ships Need the Sea - Emily Hearn
Another ao3 comment rec
Finally, you gave me the hope I'd awaited / Finally, you gave me your heart
Storm Comin’ - The Wailin’ Jennys
The first of my own inserts to pad out this playlist. I picked this one because a) The Wailin’ Jennys are an all-time fave and their albums were the soundtrack of my writing the “I know a place”-verse (plus that series title is a lyric of theirs!) and b) it’s hella sexy
When that love calls, open up your door
Souvenir - boygenius
Pulling thorns out of my palm / Work a midnight surgery / When you cut a hole into my skull / Do you hate what you see? / Like I do
Best Friend - Ingrid Michaelson
It’s the friends to lovers angst of it al
I keep my mouth shut tight / 'Cause I won't want to lose what's not even mine
Love You Like That - Dagny
Blair Fell First™
I know when I say it, it doesn't say enough / With you close, I'm the happiest I ever was / I tend to avoid getting emotional / I'm not shutting you out
So Long, Honey - Caamp
And there’s this feeling I get / When you’re in the room / I want you to stay
The One You Love - Passenger feat Kate Miller Heidke
Another insert because the VIBES. Something something pure & simple love etc etc
Oh, and if you find someone / That doesn't undermind you / If you find someone / That doesn't drag behind you
ivy - tswift
I wish to know / The fatal flaw that makes you long to be / Magnificently cursed / He's in the room / Your opal eyes are all I wish to see / He wants what's only yours
Strawberries - Caamp
Be my books, head on your shoulder with damn good looks
Jealous - Ingrid Michaelson
I used to be so sweet / Now I see a change coming over me
High and Low - Joshua Radin
This is technically my addition, but only bc there was already so much Radin. I’m not mad about it.
Don't you worry, now / Don't let life get you down / Just remember you're mine
Sweet Love of Mine - Joy Williams
Another insert from me. Joy Williams post-Civil Wars era is SO underrated and anyways she wrote this gorgeous love song/lullaby to her son who happens to be named Miles which is a coincidence I will milk for all it is worth.
I was broken, I was blind / Lost in a moment I thought I left behind / Then you woke up this dark soul of mine / Carrying a light I thought I'd never find
Me & My Dog - boygenius
I had a fever / Until I met you / Now you make me cool
Any of My Trouble - Sawyer Fredericks
I’ve thought this was a “Dan Humphrey is a giant sap” song for quite a while but it didn’t feel right on my other playlist(s)...THIS one though…
So set my heart down in the cold / Let it freeze so I will know / How it feels to be shattered / When you go
Missing You - Ingrid Michaelson
Never, you said this had dan/nate vibes so now everytime I listen to it that’s what I think…I may just have to write a fic about it and it’ll be YOUR FAULT <3
I'm in his bed again / Feeling like a stranger / When he's kissing me, I'm missing you
Hate You - Ingrid Michaelson
Okay normally 2 consecutive tracks from the same artist feels Wrong to me but here I think it works.
So much swirling up inside my head / Of what I didn't do or what I should have said
Skinny Love - Bon Iver
I tell my love to wreck it all / Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
Stay Down - boygenius
Wasn't a fighter until somebody told me / I had better learn to lean into the punch / So it don't hurt as bad when they leave / There you were, turning your cheek
Walking on a String - Matt Berninger & Phoebe Bridgers
I knew that I was dead before you touched my lonesome skin / You're never running out of ways to worm your way back in
Hey Kid - Ingrid Michaelson
This song was not one of your og Ingrid recs, but I thought it fit, so it had to go in here.
These arms and this heart / They are the only things that I have left to give
Little Giant - Roo Panes
Have the heart of a giant, but know you're a man / Start small, grow tall
By and by - Caamp
Just wish I'd spent more time / Listenin’ to her speak her mind
Call It Dreaming - Iron & Wine
Say it's here where our pieces fall in place / Any rain softly kisses us on the face…For all the love you've left behind / You can have mine
Today - Joshua Radin
it’s got the romance AND the found family
And you are the one I've been waiting for today
Feels Like Home - Caamp
Know that I lived my whole life long / And gave all the love that I could've given
The Muse - The Wood Brothers
Included for many obvious reasons, the title of course, and the dilf!dan of it all
Times like these so sweet and so true / Thinkin’s the last thing that you wanna do
This Is Why I Need You - Jesse Ruben
it’s about how living is hard but this is what makes it worth it.
You are the who, love is the what, and this is the why
My My Love - Joshua Radin
a simple sweet unadorned song. the perfect finale
It's something new because of you

happy 1 year! to celebrate, here’s my (maybe unpopular idk) evermore ranking. everything listed here is just my personal opinion, dont take it to seriously.
foreward: some songs i cant rank because my opinion on them fluxuates too much- includes closure, evermore, and coney island.
now onto the ranking:
14. tis the damn season
im sorry i like the song but the instrumentation reallt isnt for me. the story is incredible but the lyrics just dont resonate with me.
13. cowboy like me
i dont like the melody on this one. cant explain it, theres nothing specifically wrong with it, but i just dont vibe with it. that being said, i still listen to it regularly, just less than the others.
12. willow
I used to like this song a lottttt but more recently its kinda dropped. i think i finally wore it out after listening to it on loop for like. literal days. its definitely a solid song that i still really enjoy though. the fact that its kinda low is mostly my fault lmaoo.
11. happiness
something about this song makes me cry, and out of all of taylor’s “sad” songs, this one is up there. i love it so much, but I cant listen to it if im not in the right mood, so it sometimes ends up getting skipped if im emotionally fragile or whatever.
10. champagne problems
now were getting to the problem i experience in every single album ranking i have of taylor swift’s, where there are farrr too many good songs. champagne problems is one of my favorite songs, but it took a while to grow on me. even now, its not at the top of my list, maybe because im still young and dont really relate to a lot of the singer’s experiences. music wise it slaps though
9. marjorie
i hated this song the first time i heard it. and the second time. and third and fourth and fifth and sixth. but eventually something just clicked and it gets stuck in my head at just the sound of the name. its such a good song omg idk how me from last december disliked it aaaaaaa
8. tolerate it
this was actually my number one song when evermore first released, and my love for it has not decreased. its so filled with pain and resentment and frustration, but theres so much sweet liberation in it that is so so so magical. the reason its dropped in ranking is not because my opinion on it changed, but rather because i finally stopped listening to it almost exclusively and gave other songs a chance and realized “oh shit this whole album is impeccable”.
7. Gold Rush
its just so catchy. like idk i love it theres something about it that just makes me go “oooaoaoaoaoa”. like idontlikeslowmotiondoublevisioninroseblush. fndmdndnd. it turns me into a gremlin of the best variety. (also this was the fav song of a guy i thought i liked who is now a good friend so theres a lot of nice memories attached).
6. no body, no crime
this is just. omg. i love this song. i cant like say anything about it other than “go listen to it right now”. its good. no one better disagree with me because i will cry.
5. long story short
now were getting to the ones that make me dance around my bedroom. long story short is a bop. plain and simple. good song. i have no analysis other than “wow this song is really good, top 5”.
4. its time to go
this song is so emotional and passionate, and a little existentially terrifying. but the poeticism involved is just sooooo unbelievable and the musicality is great and the lyrics and- i cant stop raving about. why are the bonus tracks always so good?
3. right where you left me
even though this is only at number three, this is my most listened to song of evermore. i have both apple music through my family and spotify, so i dont think rwylm showed up on my wrapped, but if you combined them it would probably make my top 5 most listened to songs. its incredible in its melody, lyrics, instrumentation, imagery, and every other aspect. not to mention how catchy it is, like goddamn!
2. ivy
speaking of goddamn! this is song is underappreciated everywhere, i feel like. (this may or not be true but it feels true, y’know?) The story it tells is a beautiful one, and the figurative language is multilayered and very complex. i love every moment of this song, and i absolutely cannot pick a favorite part.
And for number 1, i present: dorothea!
this took the number 1 slot fairly recently after doing a lot of climbing in the past year. it started our mid-tier for me, but the more i listened to it the more i loved it. now, it stands out as one of the cutest, most passionate songs on the album that i also feel gord underrecognized. congrats to taylor for making something so incredible!
so thats my list, obviously its just my opinion and very heavily influenced by my own experiences and taste. im curious to hear other opinions as well! happy birthday, evermore!

i think of will when i’m also listening to maye, so i needed to add some of her songs! and definitely relate him to the lyrics!! this is in spanish, but basically she’s saying: you’re the only one for me. i wanna follow you around all the time. and she loves him so much cause he treats her so very well.

k. — cigarettes after sex
each time you fall in love — cigarettes after sex
it’s a rainy day, idk you don’t feel well, and willy comes home from practice and y’all just melt into each others warmth and these songs play in the back as they lull you both to sleep.
take me to church — hozier
if you’ve seen, i did mention i was writing a smutty fic of willy to this song. i’m sorta insecure about it rn, but i feel with some more editing it will show what i think about everytime i hear it. “TAKKEEE MEEE TO CHURRRCHHHH”
movement — hozier
talk — hozier

let’s fall in love for the night — finneas
running around and laughing and teasing each other. idk this at 3am with will, it just feels like it would slap.
esa carita — rusowsky
another spanish song! “esa carita” translates to “that (sweet) face” and the whole song it just talks about how beautiful the persons face is. so that speaks for itself! but the song idk it’s very cuddly and cute and i wanna kiss all over his pretty face.
always forever — cults
stargazing — the neighborhood
come on, omg these, at night, fuckinh vibing, and just being so happy that we love each other so much. i’d be so happy. willy where u at!!?????

TALKING DIRTY, RIDING STURDY. I LOVE IT WHEN YOU LET ME RIDE IT LIKE A JETSKI, YOU A PRO WHEN YOU SLIDE IN LIKE GRETZKY. YOU HIT YOUR MARK EVERY TIME LIKE YOU MESSI. FUCK ALL THAT CUTE SHIT, I LIKE IT WHEN IT’S MESSY. BITE.”

Starkid actors and their hottest characters: (note, based solely on my own taste or lack thereof. All the adult starkids are gorgeous, it's the characters were talking about.)
Joey Richter: Uncle Wiley/ Wilbur Cross. I have a problem. He's evil and basically a manifestation of lust (for power, for adoration, for love w/e) he even eats an apple bc temptation.
Jaime Lyn Beatty: Candy from HMS. Poison Ivy is a close second but the multi colored hair, the Harley Quinn vibes, the stockings, YES!
Jeff Blim: General McNamara. That uniform is just *chefs kiss*. Plus he's heroic, caring and funny.
Lauren Lopez: Emma Perkins. Super funny, doesn't take any shit. Kind of a slacker but very relatable. Doesn't hurt that the Beanies uniform shows off her legs.
Kim Whalen: Miss Holloway. Fun and smart and powerful. Also love that accent. And the 80's hair and makeup just works for her.
Curt Mega: Duke. He genuinely cares for the kids he works with. Takes no shit but full of heart. And his laid-back clothes just work.
James Tolbert: Xander Lee. Again another *chefs kiss* uniform. Cool glasses and badass attitude.
Robert Manion: Ethan Green. Do I have a soft spot for the 50s aesthetic? Yes, yes I do. He may be a bit rough around the edges and have some problems connecting with Hannah but he really cares for her and Lex and wants to do right by them. Plus the leather jacket really fits well.
Dylan Saunders: Pincer. I know, I fucking know! Quite the curve ball huh? Honestly a lot of it is how much I dig the song "Kick It Up a Notch" it's so jazzy and has a Disney villain vibe. Plus that puppetry was super fucking impressive. (Tom Houston is his most attractive human character, but for personal reasons I have complicated feelings about Tom).
Angela Guiterra: Lex Foster. Tough but full of love? YES! So strong and sweet and effortlessly cool.

Hi I keep getting new followers here now so uh I guess here's a quick like...rundown of what My Deal is.
The Solid Facts: I'm a 32 year old white and cis ace/biromantic married lady. Very ADHD, also very much an introverted scientist sort of nerd. This is the side blog of my main blog @linddzz
So like....what's the DEAL:
Fuck dude idk. Ive spent a good chunk of adult life being an ex-Catholic agnostic who dabbled in various paths of nature veneration type paganism. This blog was made years ago as a way for me to compile resources and ideas as I tried to find something I Vibe With. Spent a lot of time finding things just didn't seem to Feel Right, kept looking into various members of various pantheons (mostly Hellenic and Nordic) and also read a lot into reconstructive Druidism, found a lot of things that almost fit but never really felt anything from it. The more recent years I've shrugged and settled into a more secular general atheist nature veneration where I just like....kept in touch with seasonal cycles and gardened and brewed and read up on the local environment and it's history. Have been in a funk state for years of "well I sure would LIKE to Believe In Something but nothing seems to grab me."
Then I got called to Dionysus and by "called to" I mean that after years of him going "pspspsps" at me I turned around and went "WHAT????" I then panicked realizing that oh, this is what a call from the divine is like and I guess I'm not an atheist anymore.
I already had a like...vague knowledge that Dionysus is more than "WOOO PARTY" and that he had a lot of death/rebirth and wild nature vibes going on, but nothing concrete. Since a very concrete aspect has decked me out in ivy garlands slightly against my will I've been reading more scholarly stuff on him and keep needing to go sit down because everything I read has been like.....very very much matching up to the Vibes I get from the Dionysus in my head. A lot. They match a lot. I'm....hm.
So You're a Hellenistic Pagan then?
Hnnggg kinda??? I guess??? Idk man no one but Dionysus has tapped me and no one else waved back when I tried reaching out and reading on other dieties. I've been saying I'm Dionysian because he's the only one who grabbed me. Tbh the only other diety I even ALMOST felt something from was Odin and the most I got from there was a vague sense of "nah not quite there kid"
I honestly am so new to this shit that it's been days. I got hit in the third eye and have been reeling around a bit
So what's the Dionysus Aspect you're on about?
The image that pops to mind is a lithe androgynous young (or old, or middle aged) dude draped in leapoard skins and old vines and bones, golden snake-eyed and horned, almost entirely hidden in shadows of foliage, feeling like something alluring and dangerous and ancient, fully man and god and animal.
Also wearing shutter shades and drinking wine from his kylix using a silly straw and grinning.
You described yourself as an asexual introvert nerd which....doesn't sound very Dionysian
Oh I Know and I did point this out to him but all I get is that fucking dangerously happy fanged smug ass grin
You don't sound very Respectful of your new god
I live in comfort that if he expected breathless respect and nothing but sweet veneration he wouldn't have slung an arm around me. I had no say in this so he gets what he gets damnit
If anything I feel like he's just entertained. Like one would be at a grouchy but harmless cat.
This is all a very recent development and if you want more stuff on how i relate to him and what the general Real Big Neon Signs were that he was tapping me, scroll on down. I'm also down to chat I guess but again, this is a whole new damn world for me

a v late recap of evermore
so i think Taylor Swift sensed that i was Going Through It and was like here you sad bitch, here’s another surprise album to help fix all that. cause good lord evermore is just what i (and i think we all) needed. i truly TRULY can’t believe we’re lucky enough to get a sister album to folklore, i love it so much. the first day it was out i drove myself 2 hours to the very end of the Cape and sat on an empty beach and cried to it and honestly??? magical. here are my thoughts on it that no one asked for:
first, as an overall here, this album complements folklore so well. it’s the spring to folklore’s autumn, it’s self-assured and warm and beautiful. each album shows off her lyrical genius so well and she only grows stronger here. when folklore came out, i was floored because the music was so different for her and so up my alley. each song’s production sucked me in and it was like she was confidently telling us “here is another genre i can work with” (masterfully at that). evermore feels different. it feels like Taylor is so comfortable in this creative space, she isn’t trying to fit into any new molds or expectations, she is just HERE, now, saying “this is who i am and this is my craft”. it’s really been a privilege to watch her grow as an artist. ok. here we go
willow:
god the video was so beautiful, a really good continuation of cardigan. the chorus is so so delicate and prettyyy, thats MY MAN ughhh its so good. it reminds me a lot of invisible string tbh, or if betty from cardigan grew up and found love. this is really one of my favorites, she starts so strong
fave lines: “the more that you say, the less i know/ wherever you stray I follow/ i’m begging for you to take my hand/ wreck my plans, that’s my man”; “life was a willow and it bent right to your wind”
champagne problems:
oh dear god, it’s if all too well and new years day had a baby and it is a MASTERPIECE. i can picture it all, college sweethearts, broken hearts, i feel like its new england at christmas, ivy league old money…its cinematic. and it gets at the feeling like you’ll never be good enough so you leave before that happens (basically before you get to the tolerate it stage??) and OOF. AND GODDAMN THE RANTING BRIDGE (illicit affairs came close on folklore but i think THIS might be the best bridge since All Too Well). I’ve screamed it a lot tbh
fave lines: BRIDGE BABYYYYYY EVERY SINGLE PERFECT WORD. WHAT A SHAME SHES FUCKED IN THE HEADDDD
gold rush:
this one is bright and lovely and catchy!! it reminds me a lot of mirrorball tbh, all like swirly and magical. i can’t even put it into words but i can see this one so clearly. its all rosy and golden
fave lines: “eyes like sinking ships on waters/ so inviting, i almost jump in”; “what must it be like to grow up that beautiful?/with your hair falling into place like dominoes/ I see me padding across your wooden floors/ with my Eagles t-shirt hanging from your door”; “the coastal town we wandered round/ had never seen a love as pure as it”; “my mind turns your life into folklore”
’tis the damn season:
UGH I FUCKING LOVE THIS ONE EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES ME WANNA TEXT MY EX. the melody is SOOOO satisfying, the progression to “write this down”, i’m obsessed. the idea of being home for the holidays and feeling a little lost and tired and nostalgic for what could have been is something superrrr relatable. this song reminds me of snowy drives around my hometown in the best/worst possible way hahah. one of my top 5 for sure.
fave lines: “we could call it even/ you could call me babe for the weekend/ tis the damn season, write this down/i’m staying at my parents house/ and the road not taken looks real good now”; “and wonder about the only soul/ who can tell which smiles i’m faking”
tolerate it:
oh honeyyyyy this track 5 packs a punch, i mean the lyrics are absolutely BRUTAL in the best way. it’s just so sad, and encompasses a lot of my own insecurity about always feeling like you’re more invested in a relationship and watching someone fall out of love or just stop caring. i LOVE the “my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it”, like bitch YES your love should be celebrated. also taylor sounds angelic on the “I” at the start of the chorus
fave lines: “i know my love should be celebrated/ but you tolerate it”; “i made you my temple, my mural, my sky/ now i’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life”; “what would you do if I/break free and leave us in ruins/ took this dagger in me and removed it”
.
no body, no crime:
YESSSSSSSSS I LOVE THE SUBGENRE OF COUNTRY ABOUT WOMEN KILLING SHITTY HUSBANDS AND THIS SONG IS SO FUCKING GOOD AHHHHH!! I LOVE the beat, i love country taylor, i love the addition of HAIM. UGH ITS SO CATCHYYYY, like i’m obsessed with the slide from “i think he did it but i just. can’t. prove itttttt NOOO no body no crime” UGHHH this is without a doubt in my top five
fave lines: “she thinks i did it but she just can’t prove it”
happiness:
I heard this one described as an emotional marathon and holy shit it is, each line is a sucker punch. i really like how it feels like a conversation and looks at the acceptance and pain that mingle together when a relationship just…ends. her lyrics are unmatched on this album but this is a particularly strong track
fave lines: “i haven’t met the new me yet”; “when did all our lessons start to look like weapons/ pointed at my deepest hurt”; “there is a glorious sunrise/ dappled with the flickers of light/ from the dress i wore at midnight”
dorothea:
this one feels like Betty 2.0 and its so sweet and bright and also kinda sad. it’s wistful!! that’s the word i want, wistful! the vibe is gives off reminds me of Red, like musically. it’s home-y. idk if that makes sense but i like it a lot
fave lines: and if you’re ever tired of being known for who you know/ you know, you’ll always know me”
coney island:
ugh this one is magical, i honestly really love the instrumental to this one, it’s so soothing. the lyrics to me feel like you’re in some dream state, going through every heartbreak you’ve ever been through. I love the addition of The National, the vocals fit together so well (and I like it better than both Bon Iver features i think??)
fave lines: do you miss the rogue/ who coaxed you into paradise and left you there/ will you forgive my soul/ who you’re too wise to trust me and too old to care?”
ivy:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (that’s how i feel about this absolute masterpiece oh my GOD) it makes me so incandescently happy, the folk feel, the lyrics that are so cinematic and poetic and paint such a clear picture (to me) of two Victorian lovers who are in unhappy marriages but don’t let that stop their love. the chorus just like….fills my whole chest, the OH GODDAMN hits so different. and i want “my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand” tattooed on me, that is one of her BEST lines and i will die on that hill. its all so pretty, i can’t deal. the vibe also strongly reminds me of a) invisible string and b) Little Women (2019). i think taylor should do folk and uhhhh only folk please
fave lines: EVERY WORD BUT ESPECIALLY: “i’d meet you where the spirit meets the bone/ in a faith forgotten land”; “oh goddamn/ my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand/ taking mine, but its been promised to another/ oh, i can’t/ stop you putting roots in my dreamland/ my house of stone, your ivy grows/ and now I’m covered in you”; “he wants what’s only yours”; “clover blooms in the field/ springs breaks loose, time is near“; ”so yeah, it’s a fire/ its a goddamn blaze in the dark and you started it”
cowboy like me:
ALL RIGHT everyone sleeps on this song but oh my GOD its so good!! it’s smooth and dreamy and gives me that old fashioned, bonnie and clyde type love story and some of the lyrics are so poetic. I really love the addition of the Tim McGraw chords too???? BUT DEAR GOD COULD WE HAVE GIVEN MARCUS MUMFORD MORE OF A ROLE HERE??!! HE SOUNDS WONDERFUL, GIVE HIM A FEATURE, GIVE HIM A WHOLE VERSE. THIS IS A FOLK ALBUM TAYLOR, USE FUCKING MUMFORD AHHHH (i fucking love him omg)
fave lines: “dancin’ is a dangerous game”; “you’re a bandit like me/ eyes full of stars”; “now you hang from my lips/ like the Gardens of Babylon/ with your boots beneath my bed/ forever is the sweetest con”
long story short:
A BOP!! GIVE ME SOME HAPPINESS TAYLOR WOO! I really love how catchy this one is. it feels like her introducing the craziness of her life to joe and being like look all of that was tough but here i am now and I couldn’t be happier. It’s refreshing, self-deprecating and endearing. I couldn’t love it more and it is ALWAYS stuck in my head!
fave lines: “and he’s passing by/ rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky”; “long story short I survived”
marjorie:
ha hahah hah ha this one ENDS me, like dear LORD i need to call my grandma immediately. it is so so GOOD and SAD, like the you don’t know how good something or someone is until they’re gone, but even then, they’re still there with you. I love the grandma wisdom of “never be so clever you forget to be kind” etc. and holy SHIT the addition of Taylor’s grandmother’s opera singing as background vocals is GENIUS AND DEVASTATING, god the part where she goes “i’d think you were singing with me now” and then Marjorie comes in is honestly one of the most beautiful musical moments i’ve heard in a hot minute and it breaks me every time. wow.
fave lines: “never be so polite/ you forget your power/ never wield such power/ you forget to be polite”; “the autumn chill that wakes me up/ you loved the amber sky so much”; “and if i didn’t know better/ i’d think you were singing to me now”
closure:
ok i’m sorry, this is my only skip here. I really do love the lyrics and the idea of, yeah no you don’t deserve closure from me. i just can’t get past the pots and pans beginning, its too chaotic. but i’m sure it’ll grow on me! it does feel like finally moving on and i do love that about it
fave lines: “don’t treat me like/ some situation that needs to be handled”; “i know i’m just a/ wrinkle in your new life/ staying friends would/ iron it out so nice”
evermore:
god her voice is SO soothing in this one, it’s literally hypnotic. the song itself feels wandering and dark at first, like you’re stuck in this depression, and then bon iver comes in and it picks up and it feels like coming out of the trees, into the sunlight and finding your way again. finding that the pain WOULDNT be for evermore like she says. it feels like an ending and a beginning. beautiful
fave lines: “writing letters/ addressed to the fire”; “and when i was shipwrecked/ i thought of you/ in the cracks of light/ i dreamed of you”; “and i was catching my breath/ floors of the cabin creaking under my step/ and i couldn’t be sure/ i had a feeling so peculiar/ this pain wouldn’t be for evermore”

I don't know if anyones said this but Taylor Swifts song 'Ivy' really reminds me of you story!! hahah
Real footage of me listening to this song and thinking of my OC's
Tumblr media
Okay but oh my goodness this is the cutest little message 🥺To know that you heard this beautiful song and thought about my little story, I--
One of my close friends had told me to listen to Taylor's new albums and I was always like "I will, I will" but never did and now I'm going to binge them both while I work on the last few parts sdhuadsusdh
Honest, though, the song has such a nice bittersweet cottagecore vibe, it just makes me wanna drink tea in the countryside on a cold and gloomy day while I cry over someone lol. And you're right! It reminds me of my story too! Way too much, in fact fghfg.
And I'm the lamest human being because I literally got teary-eyed in on specific line that is just sooooo relatable to Beth and Mary in the future posts DFGJDFLKG 🤡 oh boy..... N E WAY
Thank you for the rec and for sharing that thought with me! That's super sweet and made my heart so warm 🥺🥰 xxxx

Roomate anon, hi babe! ❤️ First of all I just wanted to say that I am so so happy that you managed to work out your thoughts and admit to yourself that you're gay, that's so good for you! Some of us take years and years to even start accepting that part of ourselves. Also, you don't have to go and tell your family and friends right away hun, you have all the right to decide who gets to know this part about yourself because you feel safe and comfortable with them knowing.
You're so brave and admirable and from what you've shared with us, I can tell that you genuinely are a sweet, kind, and compassionate person who cares about others and tries her best at everything. Those are such lovely qualities to have ❤️ PLS tell us what happened when you talked to roomie! Your story is so beautiful and it's safe to say that we're all rooting for you, sending you love, and wishing you the best😍❤️
Now, in reference to Tay's gay sounding songs, I 100% agree with you on Dress and Delicate. Without the backstory of Swiftwyn, those two songs are very sapphic and really capture the feeling of a sprouting wlw relationship. Nat has a very good lyric by lyric interpretation of Dress somewhere in the blog if you wanna check it out, I feel the same as her in regards to that song.
To me personally (and I think many here will agree), Treacherous sounds very gay too bc of all the "I'll do anything you say if you say it with your hands" and "forever going with the flow, but you're friction". Imo Begin Again is somehow gay as well, bc of all the comparing a past "he" that didn't understand you or treat you the way you would like, and currently being with a "you" (female imo) that thinks you're funny and endearing, can relate to you, and treats you the way you wanna be treated.
Wonderland is... pretty gay idk. Like the rs it talks about goes into trouble bc "whispers turned to talking and talking turned to screams" as in people started to find out about them and being judgy. Not to mention "too in love to think straight" which speaks for itself haha.
I hear wlw in It's Nice To Have A Friend. It sounds to me like two high school friends who are actually more than friends but don't yet know it and, like you a few weeks ago (it's okay we've all been there ❤️) , think "aw it's so nice to be straight girls and be best friends and be able to just kiss and sleep together, isn't it so nice that bffs can do that".
Seven. Holy shit that song called me out so loudly lmao. Seven is about two different themes imo: 1) the beauty of being a little kid and not having to worry about anything and just playing and running all day. As a kid we're very free spirited and imaginative and, in my case, happy to play in the trees and the mud and just be wild 2) being seven years old and looking at one of your girl classmates in school and loving/memorizing very specific physical features of theirs like their hair (like a pattern), their freckles, their dimples etc and also thinking "we should run away together and live a cool life like superheroes or dancers or animal rescuers (me haha)". At that age we don't really know it or understand it, but those are early romantic feeling towards another girl. I could go on and on about this song tbh.
I agree with you in that August has a wlw vibe to it. Idk if it's the nostalgia, the cottagecore of it all, or the lamentation of a love that could not last for whatever reason but the energy is there. "Wanting was enough, for me it was enough to live for the hope of it all" and all of that you know.
Ivy is imo a fraction of a wlw story set during winter in like the 1700s or 1800s. The narrator is a widow whose husband died recently and she's having a romantic thing with one of her female friends, but the friend's engaged to be married to a man (as in her hand has been promised to him because that's how things worked during those times, marriages were often arranged by families), so the whole thing is a secret affair, which is why she says "your touch brought forth an incandescent glow, tarnished but so grand": her friends touch sets her insides on fire bc of how much she's attracted to her, but the touch is "tarnished" bc the whole thing is forbidden, yet it's "so grand" because it's meaningful and their love is very real.
"And the old widow goes to the stone everyday, but I stay here grieving for the living" = a widow would usually go to visit their husband's grave and lament his passing, but the narrator doesn't do this because she doesn't (and probably never did coz you know she's gay) feel any deep love towards her husband, she doesn't really miss him, and instead she prefers to focus on the love and infatuation she has for her female friend, and she grieves that they can't actually be together in a normal way bc of society at that time.
But they really are deeply in love with each other and it breaks the narrator that they can't spend their lives together as a couple : "goddamn my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand". Yet they continue to love each other, spend time together, and be magnificently cursed while sitting down to talk for hours while drinking the narrator's dead husband's wine, because she doesn't really care that it used to belong to her husband; it has no significant value to her in that sense so she prefers to drink it with her lover.
"Clover blooms in the fields, spring breaks loose the time is near, what would he do if he found us out" : the bridge explains that winter has passed, spring is coming, and the wedding date for her lover and her bethroved husband is getting nearer (aka they're running out of time to be together). They discuss the possibility of attempting to keep their secret rs even after the marriage, but they fear of what would happen if the husband found out: "he's gonna burn this house to the ground", the house being their romance.
Still, the narrator insists that her lover will always be in her mind and in her otherwise cold ("my house of stone") heart ("your ivy grows and now I'm covered in you"). She claims that she will forever remember and hold on to the "moments that they stole, on begged and borrowed time", which suggests that they don't end up together, not even in secret. Sorry I got carried away but my mates I could write a whole ass novel about this song, I already have the narrator and her lover well developped in my brain and I have some pretty solid ideas for side characters lol.
Cowboy like me has sapphic aspects to it. "Takes one to know one" makes me think of how a lot of gay people have very on point gaydars and can sorta tell when someone pings haha. Idk Tay really loves Joe in a gay way and I love them for it haha.
And lastly what even is Dorothea lmao like is there even a non-gay explanation for that song? It's a fictional setting and fictional characters but Tay hun you really know how to capture the feeling of having been in love with a girl and now seeing her from far away huh. I mean it could be accidental but still👀 the song sounds gay to me idk.
Those are just off the top of my head and my personal opinion. At the end of the day, we can relate queer experiences to all sorts of songs and all lyrical interpretations are valid. That's what art is all about 😊.

How much of the world should you have set up or created before you start writing? Or what are the simple basics that are best before you start?
Ebonwing: There’s no hard and fast rule for this. How much you need or want to do before writing the story depends on several factors, such as:
How comfortable are you with making up worldbuilding on the fly? Some people find it easier to write if they already know what they’re working with. Others might like the freedom they have to match their worldbuilding to the story, and then work to make it consistent later.
How willing are you to edit to make things match the rules you may have come up with later in the story? If, say, you add an important restriction to your magic system later, you may have to rewrite earlier instances of magic that conflict with the new rule.
How much does your plot hinge on worldbuilding? Some stories are heavily influenced by their setting and would have to be altered quite a bit if they were written in a different world. If you have something like that in mind, you may find it easier to decide the relevant parts earlier rather than later.
As for simple basics, again, this is a subjective preference. There isn’t anything you absolutely must have considered before writing, but if you’re not comfortable with jumping right into it, here are some questions you could think about beforehand.
What kind of species exist in your world? Humans, elves, dwarves, dragons, something less common or species you made up? Are they sapient, or more animalistic? How do they get along?
Is there magic? If so, who can use it, how can it be used and what can and can’t it do?
Are there deities or other entities of equivalent power that interact with the world in some way?
Is there a general ‘vibe’ you want your world to have? Dystopian? Utopian? Medieval-ish? Futuristic?
If you have nations, are they a monarchy, a democracy, something else? Who leads? How are the leaders chosen?
If you have nations, are they at war or teetering on the edge of it, or are relations peaceful?
Does your world differ from the real world in fundamental ways? (Is it flat? Does it have very different seasons? Are the very laws of physic different somehow)
These are just a few points to jump off of. You may find that you need other things before starting to write, or that some of the ones I listed don’t make sense for you, and that’s okay too.
Tex: “Should” is a very fluid term, and a lot of times I feel is more a house of cards than any firm rules. Do you have a handful of ideas, and the urge to create? Then that’s the amount of world that you “should” have. Do you feel more comfortable having a bulleted list? Then that’s a “should”, too.
Do you have a sprawling map and drawings and pinboards and models and, and, and? So long as you find it feasible to build upon your ideas and create a navigable world from it, then your minimum “should” is stable (even if it’s different from someone else’s). I’ve learned through trial and error that a good and often variable mix of “pantser” vs “plotter” is what hits that sweet spot of a world where stories spring forth.
Ebonwing has laid down some excellent starting points, and I agree that the questions presented are by no means a “be all, end all” formulation. Constable has already written a lovely post about worldbuilding for pantsers (tumblr, WordPress), which coordinates well with a previously-reblogged post from @reverie-writes about the plot-world-characters triangle.
Reedsy has a post about pansters and plotters here, as well as by Medium here. They both cover slightly different aspects about the same phenomenon, and reiterate a lot of the questions Ebonwing already posed above.
Constablewrites: A couple of other resources I like:
7 Deadly Sins of Worldbuilding by Charlie Jane Anders
12 Questions to Ask Yourself About the System of Magic in Your Fantasy Novel by Mettie Ivie Harrison
Worldbuilding 101 by NK Jemisin
I generally try to have a solid idea of what the main characters are capable of and what’s causing them the most problems before I get started. That can change as I get a better idea of the focus and direction of the story, and as I have the characters explaining things in more detail and asking each other questions. (Most of that stuff gets cut later, but it’s a tremendously useful part of the process.)

Evermore First Impressions
Well, well, well, we meet again.  I was so wordy last time around, I’m going to try to contain myself this time.  No promises.  Let’s just dive right in, shall we?
1. Willow (the music video)
So overall I thought this was cute.  It was interesting that it picked up right where cardigan left off.  But what really piqued my interest was the gold, glowing string that I tied right back to Invisible String.  Clever, Ms. Swift.  Clever.I also deduced that the scene where Taylor is locked in the clear box was her metaphor for fame.  She’s untouchable by the person she wants but she can’t escape to be with them.  Tragic.
On my second run through, I bravely decided to point out that the reflection in the water of her and her lover is interesting.  Why?  Because I associated his face with Joe Alwyn’s features.  Obviously, the actor playing opposite is NOT Mr. Alwyn but I found it interesting that the man cast had similar features to him.  I also think Witchcraft Taylor is an interesting sub plot to this three minute movie.  I want to note that the lyrics “begging for you to take my hand, wreck my plans, that’s my man” seem vaguely familiar and I can’t place why.
This, being Evermore, is a thing now and I’m trying to process it.
2. Champagne Problems
Taylor had already alluded to this song as being “not bubbly” so I go into this album with trepidation.  Folklore has made me wary, even without Taylor’s hints. I am immediately struck by this beautiful piano.  The background for the lyric video is a champagne glass with a ring in it and since I’ve already read the album prologue I know whats coming.  My take away from this was that the song though pretty was traditionally sad.  I love how she managed to drop yet another poetic ‘Fuck’.  Honestly, Taylor is a great storyteller and is in her truest form as one.  So far the sounds are similar to Folklore with just a touch of difference to separate the two albums.
3. Gold Rush
The story of daydreamed love set to the background of gold silk background.  The visual, as well as the composition is ethereal much like the lyrics.  I feel that there is meaning deeper to this particular song, but its too deep for a first listen.
4. ‘Tis the Damn Season
I was curious about this one when I saw it on the track listing.  It couldn’t possibly be a holiday song, so what could it be?  The wintry scenery is equally confusing.  But once I start listening I immediately piece it to the story of Dorothea, the girl who comes back from LA for the holidays.  Its a pretty story about reconnecting with people lost in transition to adulthood.  But what I’m really marveling at so far is the arrangements of the songs. They work with the story lines really well.
5.  Tolerate It
I saw the clouds and vivid Folklore flashbacks started.  I was right to be wary. I don’t want to talk about it.
6. No body No Crime (Feat. Haim)
She had mentioned earlier in the evening that she borrowed a best friend’s name for the character of this song.  I wondered who?  I was delighted to hear she named the woman “Este” for two reasons: one, she sings this with the very same Haim sisters, and two, I now know how to properly pronounce her name.  I loved the subtle country flavor with the overtly country plot.  Very nice.  This was a really good one.  I loved it.  I also would like to note that...there’s nothing like a mad woman, now is there?
7. Happiness
Yet another one Taylor hinted at during her Q and A.  I know that this one is misleading.  I had one take away.  It was beautiful but sad, so very sad.
8.  Dorothea
A reply to ‘Tis the Damn Season from the other party’s perspective.  Once again though, its wistfully sad and I am still in emotional turmoil from that track 5.  I have nothing to say but that it had a really pretty sound.
9. Coney Island (feat. The National)
This arrangement really sounded experimental to me.  I had no thoughts about this track other than one: Is this the broken hearts club that I have some how stumbled upon? Most of these are so sad. This one struck me as about a dead spouse but I’m just not sure. (Jane the Virgin Vibes)
10. Ivy
This one is cute.  However, I felt that this particular affair song romanticizes affairs more than Illicit Affairs did and I don’t know how to feel about that.  Its beautiful though.  I noticed that Ivy and Illicit Affairs could be related and from perspectives in different timing. Ivy before Illicit Affairs.
11. Cowboy Like Me
I loved this background for this one. But also that country blues sound.  Its the twang of the guitar for me. Its once again, more subtle than overt but clearer in this one than others.  Its a sweet song.  Nice to not be wallowing right now.
12. Long Story Short
Mostly, thus far, the songs have seemed to take on Taylor’s fictional abilities.  However this one seemed to call upon her autobiographical talents.  I really liked this one.  “Long Story Short, I survived” is a line I want tattooed on my face.  Dramatic? Why yes, I am!
13. Marjorie
The picture of her grandma gave me the idea that she didn’t just borrow the name of her late grandmother but wrote a song about her.  And yes, this is the second song I’ve cried to on this album.  It was a really pretty song.
14. Closure
This was another arrangement that caught my attention.  And I noted that the feeling of seeing someone’s name and feeling pain was familiar.  This one, could be a story.  Taylor Swift if a talented story teller after all, but this one felt pointed. Very pointed.  I liked it though.
15. Evermore (feat. Bon Iver)
This song-- was a journey.  A damn journey.  That time signature switch up in the middle only to return to the calm, slower tempo was fire.  It was a more hopeful feeling than Hoax.  That only makes me wary of the last two bonus tracks.
Honestly, the album was good.  I think it’ll grow on me.  So that is Evermore.  A wistful, sad album with happier notes thrown in.  As for track five, I’m not ready to...wait for it...tolerate it yet.  I’m cheesy, what can I say?
What did ya’ll think?
Love, Lauren
