My only thought for these two is that maybe they can relate about being ordered around? Obviously Ivette’s time as a slave compared to Lia’s time as impoverished and overpowered by Marsilia is much worse, but I could still see them relating to each other.

But no, Ned is legit fighting for a better tomorrow for everyone and he’s not sure that he’s gonna see it (he’s almost 50 he’s basically ancient in aragoth) but he’s determined that ric will and he really hopes that ivette will, too, b/c they so deserve it, you know?? Anyway, i think he really likes Ivette and while yes, Cris is def his right hand and Ned is the lead and at the end of the day, what he says goes, I do think that he listens to everyone’s opinions and takes them all into consideration (ew except you rob). 

aLSO, I feel like he has more on his plate than like Alaric (or even Warin) but Ned is also the ~resident dad and when he gets a chance he looks out for everyone and he def worries about the moysaunts/ivette living alone tbh especially since a) it wouldn’t be fun if the moysaunts were discovered and b) i don’t feel like all of aragothi are happy with slave immigrants coming in and taking their food/jobs etc. when it’s all so scarce to begin with, you know? And like he knows that they can all fend for themselves but he still probs comes by like ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!?!? OKAY GOOD

A Dragon without a Rider | Ric & Ivette

The small band of rebels had been gathered together. If the egg had come to anyone else but Rob, it most likely would still be a secret amongst a select few, but in a matter of hours, all of them knew what he had found and so they had been all called together. 

If Fate was kind, its rider was among them. One by one they had touched it, hoping to ignite the bond between rider and dragon. It may not hatch today or even tomorrow, but once the chosen rider came in contact with the egg, it would hatch when it was ready. 

“I wouldn’t be surprised,” He said, taking a seat next to her, “If it would hatch for you.”

But then, half of their company seemed to have the potential to be a dragon rider if you’d ask Ric. He had noticed how his father had looked on when he touched the egg, himself. Worry was etched clearly in his face: Ric had always been special and it wouldn’t have surprised Ned to find that he was a dragon rider, even if most riders never showed their natural magical talents until their egg had hatched. 

But Ric knew that that wasn’t his fate. He couldn’t see the future clearly, but he could sense things and he knew that he his fate would lead him down a different path.

i think the one thing that really gives truth to the rumors that ivette was the king’s bastard is that romayne never tried to hit that???? he’s def slept with like 85% of the women over there but ew never his niece. 

anyway, i think that romayne loved his brother but also hated him and idk it’s complicated man what do you expect it’s odr. but i also think he always wanted to be king instead of his brother which was one of the many reasons he helped aragoth.

i think he always treated ivette way better than his brother/her dad ever did tho. so there’s that. i can also see where he might have discovered that she was helping the aragothi and confronted her about it and possibly was even like “when i say the word, you will die horribly for your treason” and watch her face before being like “but luckily for you, i have no interest in doing so” idk he can be a real ass sometimes and then they probs helped each other help the aragothi peeps. 

he hasn’t forgotten her, but i think he’s also content with letting her live her own life. he’s not going to confirm who her father was b/c even tho she is just a bastard she has some claim and he just wants the southern islands for himself. idk if they will ever see each other again tho?? but who knows. i guess it still depends if he’s alive when she gets a dragon/is more mobile.

These Southern Storms | Ana & Ivette

The house was small, but strong. Built from stone, it was a shelter that would stand against the great storms of the south and protect those within. Ana had lived in great halls, small cottages, and empty caves, but they had all -- despite their drastic differences -- felt like home.

It wasn't the comforts (or lack thereof), but rather the people she lived with. She knew that she could make a home anywhere and be happy as long as she was with the people she loved. 

A storm was coming: the skies were already dark and the wind was blowing strong. Ana had been with Cris and he had tried to urge her to stay there. But she would not be persuaded even by him: her sister and Ivette had been out, too, and she needed to make sure that they had made it to safety, too. "I'll run fast." She promised. She had outrun the southern storms before. 

Breathless, she shut the heavy door behind her -- smiling to herself as she saw that both Ivette and her sister were there. Part of her had always known: they were survivors, the three of them. Still, she read the relief on their faces as she entered, "What is this? Has your faith in me been shaken?" She teased, "Don't you know the south is no match for me?"

Can't Slow Down | Elyne & Ivette

"Ivette?" Elyne called pushing her way through the unlocked door. She was out of breath after running all the way from the center of town to where Ivette lived with the Moysaunt girls and she leaned up against the door frame to catch it. "I just saw Ana and Avina and I wanted to make sure that I made it here before them. I have a surprise for Ana," She said, smiling mischeviously. 

"I know she says she wants a simple wedding, but every bride should have a dress, don't you think? At least one that doesn't have a tear in it or mud or blood on it," She said, rolling her eyes and laughing, then stopped, "I'm teasing." She said, seriously. "But she should have something nice to wear." She paused, "You know, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding before? Have you? Do they have weddings on the Southern Isles? Did you ever go to one? Are slaves allowed to get married there?" She paused for an instant, brow furrowing. "I'm sorry, you probably don't want to talk about that ..." 

"I'm so excited!' She exclaimed, "But I'm not sure what else she will need. Flowers maybe?" She shrugged. "Not that we should gather flowers for it yet ... "

"But do you think she will like this one or thise one?" She said, unrolling the buddle she had under her arm to reveal two different fabrics. "Also, you wouldn't happen to know her measurements, would you? Or have a guess? I've made dresses before without measuring, but that's mainly because the girls back at the orphanage won't sit still and, well, Ana's obviously much taller than the average child ... besides, it's her wedding and it should be perfect and I --- " She stopped, suddenly realizing that maybe this wasn't the best time for Ivette, "Wait ... sorry, are you busy? I can come back later ... "

Rob is legit a horrible person sometimes and I feel like he totally underestimates Ivette and thinks that all she is good for is basically being their slave. #facepalm (I can already tell I'm going to get some second hand embarrassment from his convos with Ivette)

I feel like Ric will really like Ivette for a lot of reasons, but I think he might also be able to tell that she has some magic abilities locked away b/c ~future dragon rider and like, idk that he will know that's she's gonna be a dragon rider, but he can def tell that she's special and might even say something kinda cryptic about her future which might not make a whole lot of sense to either of them now, but yeahhhh

I feel like Elyne is one of those ppl who thinks that there is good in everyone and that all problems could be solved by sitting down and talking things out (#facepalm she obviously hasn't met Jon Valles or Dezód or Dmitrei or like ANYONe tbh) but I do think she'd have a very hard time forgiving the ppl who enslaved Ivette. Also I think she thinks that Ivette is really cool and basically wants to be her when she grows up. Also, I feel like she basically is super curious about other parts of the world and probs asks wayyy too many questions about the Southern Isles #facepalm.
