FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT

unfortunately regulus is entirely and completely whipped and happy being bella’s from the moment she lets him touch her for the first time. seventeen and nervous and shivering and trying to be good for his hot older cousin who’ll be his wife, be his. he’s on cloud nine, drunk on her. barty, in canon, can never truly be his. neither can sirius. bella is his blood, soon bonded to him by marriage, something sirius can never offer him, and she’ll never be able to leave. she’s carving out space for him, giving him someone to belong to, and that’s all he’s ever wanted. to belong to someone. to have something of his own, the way sirius always did and could, but he was never privy to, being the spare, not breaking the cycle by being sorted into a different house, instead always being secondary, an afterthought. and now he’s heir, and everything that belonged to sirius, including bella, now belongs to him, which outweighs whatever romantic notions barty tries to feed him, or anyone else for that matter, even sirius potentially trying to ’save’ regulus from his engagement. all he wants is stability and tradition and success and his, now, birth-right. it’s a bit out of spite, but he’s also been lusting after his cousin since it was decided she would marry sirius, and now she’s his. and yeah, bella shapes and molds him into the shape she wants him in, he’s malleable, just seventeen years old, and she has ambitions, and he wants to be her very good boy, her obedient husband-wife, until he’s nothing but hers. romantic ideals and his boyhood crush on barty will never outweigh blood and family and a pureblood marriage rooted in unyielding loyalty and duty rather than romance. bella wont ever leave him because of duty, because of their blood, and he’ll always belong to her
