bsd is so fun it's like if hetalia wasnt evil and instead of imparting teenagers with a reductive view of european history it motivated them to read classic literature
#iread no longer human because of it iirc ๐ญ and the caterpillar#the caterpillar was good no longer human was well written but meh. everything else i already wanted to read#tho the one aspect of hetalia that made ppl go crazy insane and write genuinely decent fanfiction was this concept of#national identity personified as a human and all the Implications. i think ppl with a background in history wrote interesting things#problematique? sure. but interesting. it's part of what got me into jewish history (reading about lithuanian history bc i liked the chara)#worth mentioning that bsd is also just like good and well written and has compellikg characters and hetalia was mostly uhh not#ive been reading the manga and rewatching the anime recently and kyokas introduction in the anime is so.#her voice actress in the Japanese dub is incredible it's just such a great performance#well anyway. nobody getmad at me about this posti think hetalia is like silly but mostly harmless#its not necessarily a worse primer than what you'll already be taught in US public school ๐ญ#maybe between all the bad jokes you'll form a genuine appreciation for a certain bit of history
