I’m gonna talk about IVAN ALIFAN to start my blog. Although Ivan does ‘oil on canvas’, instead of using brushes to get the paint on it, he uses other different tools like piping tubes to create textures for his paintings. Like the painting ‘Sunhat’, it seems like the girl is walking out from the canvas. This was the piece of art which attracted me to dig into this artist. And also, most of his canvas is HUGE, like their heights are taller than the artist himself. Furthermore, his use of colours are bright and they look ‘fancy’.

I might not be painting as much as him but I can learn how he paints. For my own projects. From using the painting knife for textures to a piping tube or any other tools that I can get. And also the colour used, the paintings look like they’re all painted in bright colours but there are actually some dark ones for shadows - if they are all in bright colours, there will be no focus for the painting (taught by dad, I wonder why doesn’t he be a teacher??? Ah by the way, he is the chairman of a Chinese calligraphy club so I think I can combine the Eastern (from my own and from dad) and Western (from oil painting and studying in CV) styles?
