Itt went right back to breaking my heart and somehow worse this time around because he's just so tiny and so hurt and he's been fighting for so long and then the relief that fills him when Day says his name and remembers him. And then Day apologizes for what he did and then goes right back into his old self, protecting Itt and loving him and his childish ways, wanting him to be needy and spoiled as long as he relies on Day for all of that.

First aid in Thailand, apparently (okay, so it's definitely played as an obvious joke but it's so fun to me). I love Night and Gear and their endless suffering of trying to get this toxic relationship back to a slightly more balance place so they can start enjoying themselves again. @absolutebl I am offering this to you as an update on how weird this toxic little show is and how much I love it.

Getting back on the same page about their relationship, much to the delight of Night and Gear.

What I love about this interaction is that thus far in the episode, Day has come off as a rather stern boyfriend who is annoyed and frustrated with Itt, who comes across as emotionally manipulative and whiney. But this minute long exchange between Day and Gear changes everything. Suddenly we see that Day is not, in fact, annoyed with Itt to the extent that he appears to be. He loves how much Itt needs him, depends upon him. That Itt will whine and complain about wanting cake, but Day has fully trained him to not go get it himself. I think he gets off on Itt’s whining, because it’s proof that Itt has fully accepted Day’s complete control over him. 

I also enjoy the peek we get into Day’s mind when he says that he’ll do anything to make Itt his and his alone. There’s a flash of complete insanity in his eyes. And Gear sees it. After that exchange, Gear goes from being on Day’s side to being entirely on Itt’s side. Because Itt is only the way he is thanks to how Day has groomed him(excellent translation, btw).

All of this sets the stage for the flashbacks we see in the following episodes, of Day being physically abusive in order to force Itt to never leave his side. Day doesn’t want Itt to have anyone else in his life aside from him. He’ll tolerate Itt spending time with their mutual friends, but he’d never let Itt spend time with anyone one on one, except perhaps Night and Gear, and that’s only because they live together, and Itt isn’t allowed to leave the house while Day is gone. 

Agh this show is so good I wish it had a larger fanbase.

Oh yeah they're both into neck grabbing. I knew there was a reason Itt was so tolerant of Day slamming him into the wall by his neck. Very dangerous, but I'd bet good money that Itt was a little turned on.

I love how more and more Day is remembering how much he loves Itt but also how he loves Itt and how much Itt is keeping some of the autonomy that he was given back but also seeking more guidance and comfort from Day.

But the end, where Itt fainted and Day panicked because he's realized that something was wrong in this sudden moment and he's cradling him and just so gentle in his fear.

Day is slowly becoming who he was when we first met him again but everything has to slide into place, all the memories are needed to bring him home to Itt and to a relationship that they've built, rebuilt and made their home in together.

Honestly, that was a really interesting episode about how trauma takes time to resolve and going back to the worst moment of your life without the cushion of time and effort can break anything even if you know you've moved past it somehow. Day and Itt had been rebuilding their relationship as Day started to remember their love (having never forgotten his possessiveness) but seeing how they met broke him beyond the point he was willing to try and past the point he was willing to listen to Night, something he'd been doing the entire time.

But it's also how this was Itt's breaking point, the point where he had to step back and take care of himself as much as he loved Day and wants, even needs, him back. Because he's been doing everything to take care of him and jog his memory and enduring Day's possessiveness without love. So finally taking a moment to actually care for himself when he knew Day was safe (even if not with him) was a good choice.

Now we just have to see how the rest plays out and how the double amnesia tease goes.

If they had just told Itt anything besides 'Day has left him again and now we're keeping you under guard knowing he's probably in danger' none of this would have happened.

I mean, I get it, the plan seemed better without him but just giving him a little bit of knowledge would have made it a thousand times safer for everyone.

Please tell people things.

I am just deeply amused that literally all they had to do was tell Itt that was a plan and the plan would have worked out perfectly! But it also makes a lot of sense, honestly.

That's just not how Day and Itt communicte and never will be.

Watching ep 9 and jfc the kinky nature of their relationship is showing. Despite being the one who got slapped, Itt apologizes to Day for standing in front of the car, and promises to be more mindful and take better care of himself. Then Day says "Good. But don't think I'm not going to punish you." And Itt gazes at him worshipfully. They both want Day to slap Itt as punishment. This is amazing. Yes it's toxic and fucked up and should DEFINITELY be negotiated, but these boys are both very kinky and clearly are kind of flying blind. This show is actively amazing to me. It's showing us a couple who are very kinky and have no idea how to do kink in a healthy way. And there's the amnesia trope. I really wish more people watching it could see that in their behavior. They need to learn about BDSM and negotiate a healthy relationship.

Will that happen? Almost certainly not. But I can enjoy watching this couple and their dynamic.
