Miles knows how to escape a kidnapping before being bitten.

Really. Jefferson is a cop and taught miles a thing or two about escaping from kidnapper bindings, even taught him how to identify the type of binding kidnappers use when hands are tied behind his back.

Aaron taught him how to escape too! Just in a more… slipping away from said kidnapper when the time is right situation.

Although there are some traps he needs to figure out or avoid ever since he became spider-man cause… henchmen… and villains

I still think about how Gwen's dad pointed a gun at her, and then got mad when Gwen didn't want to talk/look at him.

Like, sir, you pointed a GUN to your teenage DAUGHTER. You raised your gun back up after she unmasked.

Like, you found out Spider-ghost was your daughter and you still thought she killed HER best friend?? And on purpose??

Even Aaron let Spiderman go when he found out he was his nephew, and he was the villain.

Y’all ever think about the absolute rage Miles’ parents would feel at Gwen’s father if they had the full context? How instantly the switch would flip from “this girl is trouble” to “this girl is troubled”? Because I think about it a lot

Do you ever think about. About how Jeff looks at Miles and sees Aaron? A creative and mischevious boy in a unkind world? Do you think about how maybe Jeff sees Miles hide his sketchbook and come home with spray paint on his fingers, 30 minutes pass curfew, and he wants to scold him but just can't cus he sees the boy Aaron used to be before they grew distant? You think he saw that shift in Miles after Aaron's death, that heavy look in his son's eyes, the same way his brother had? A bit wary, a bit too anxious - you think he gets scared that Miles' eyes will soon turn cold like Aaron's? You think he saw Miles' eyes in Aaron's when he found him in the dark alleyway, you think when he held his cold body he saw the little boy he grew up with?

You think Aaron in Earth 42 sees Jefferson in Miles G? He sees that overtly serious young man his brother was in the way Miles has his back too straight, his smart mouth and sass resulting in funny comebacks and witty comments just like his brother used to do. You think he sees that same raw urge to help that Jeff had in his nephew's eyes? The sorta urge to help that'll get you killed? You think he sees Jefferson's mural and thinks about how Miles has the same forehead, the same eyes? Do you think he worries about the spark in Miles' eyes blowing out like Jeff's did? You think he sees Jeff as a lil boy again every time Miles comes back from a successful mission as the Prowler - so bright, like he's reaching too close to the sun?

You think Jeff thinks about his son and wants to tell Aaron, "He's so much like you. I don't want that." You think Aaron wants to tell Jeff the same about his nephew? You think deep down they want that more than anything? You think they see the other when they look in the mirror, when they look at Miles? You think they're hoping that Miles could be better than either of them, that he'll be just fine?

I feel like miles watches telenovelas with rio every Sunday.

At first he didn’t think he’d like watching something that wasn’t his pick, after some time he watches some shows and movies from the side, getting interested, mostly got caught when either rio turns around or Jefferson walks by.

But every Sunday, his mother put on her telenovelas and it has miles hooked. Soo hooked that he openly admits to liking it and asked if he can join her. She’s teared up and looked proud the moment he asked.

Even though him and his friends have agreed to hang out whenever they’re free… miles is never free on Sundays. That time is only with his mom and him.

Though Jeff did try watching some telenovelas… he eventually gave up before getting kicked out again for asking too many questions they can’t answer.

To those that don’t know, I do a random headcanon’s series where I post a completely random headcanon on a random day with a different title.

Either an au, an original that might fit or the most recent, asks about the headcanon’s (yeah that-… that one’s our newest.)

There is this thing the whole series has in common with another fandom I’m in… and it’s me not numbering them.

Jeff and Miles’ relationship in ITSV and ATSV

I really really love how Spiderverse tackle Miles’ relationship with his parents, more specifically Jeff and Miles’ relationship. Jeff’s main arc in both movie has been on how to connect to his son so he doesn’t loose him. His relationship with Aaron was what helped him to realise how he could loose Miles.

In Into the Spiderverse, we see him as a father who direct where his son should be as someone who wanted the best opportunity for him. He also forced Miles to say “I love you” back even though Miles was reluctant to do because other kids were watching. He pushed Miles in the direction he think is best but doesn’t considered what Miles find important (fitting in) and his feelings.

Then we saw his relationship with Aaron and how they had drifted apart due to their differences with Jeff being the one who actively disconnected it. When Aaron died, he was devastated because despite all the things he doesn’t approved of Aaron, he still cared for him. Despite all, he regrets not reconnecting his relationship with Aaron and their relationship end with no resolve and no goodbye.

He probably realised then that his relationship with Miles could go down the same path as Aaron and he’s afraid of loosing his son. So when he goes to Miles, he doesn’t demand Miles to talk to him or come out. He stand on the other side of the door and give Miles the option to talk to him when he’s ready to talk. He also said “I love you. You don’t have to say it back, though.”

Because even though he want what’s best for Miles, his life is still his own and he would accept Miles no matter what. He doesn’t want one more important relationship in his life to drift apart until it’s too late to put back together.

And he worked hard to understand Miles, both in ITSV and ATSV. He doesn’t get what’s going on with Miles half of the time, either from his secret identity or him being a teenager, and he does fucked up here and there but he continues to try and learn to understand him. He just loves Miles so much and I think we should talk about Jeff more.

This is also why I think Miles’ “one person” being his dad is actually so important and significant. They both love the other too much to loose them.

I love how the relationship between Miles and his parents is represented. Rio and Jefferson are such good person. They're both strict, but well-meaning, and you can tell they care greatly about their son. Jefferson is the more strict of the two, but what I loved is that we, the audience, get to see that there's more to it. In ITSV, he embarrasses Miles at his first day at Visions' Academy because he wanted his son to know he loves him after the outburst. Miles doesn't want to go to Visions, but Jefferson is happy about that because his son is going to have a better education. He knows that he unintentionally hurts Miles by raising his voice and makes it up to him. He and Aaron drifted apart, and he doesn't want the same to happen with his son, so he takes time out of his day to go to dorms to tell him that, making the scene in particular an emotional moment between parent and child. In ATSV, he's afraid of losing him because he feels like Miles is growing up too fast for his liking. Rio is a little less strict than Jefferson and the speech she gives to Miles before he leaves is always something that warms my heart. She loves him so much, and just doesn't want him to get hurt. She's also aware that Miles has been lying to her, and I think she knows that there's something more that's happening. She's worried. Rio is also one of the supporting characters that I love. She's so warm, supportive, clearly dedicated to her little family and I know that when the time comes when Miles tells her about being Spiderman (rather, I think they might find out), he won't be faced with rejection like he'd feared. Of course, they'll have complicated feelings with the revelation that their son has been putting himself in danger nearly every single day for the past year and four months, and they'll probably be really angry, but the main thing is they'll be worried and concerned and that they'll love him the same no matter what.

God like I'm literally re-watching into the spiderverse and I'm just noticing now that Gankes first appearance takes place in the crowd while Miles is talking with his Dad.
