i would say all of miles's villains are the same person in different fonts but that comes across very differently when you're talking about a multiverse story. anyway i love foreshadowing <3

what's your favourite moment from the movie and why?
Shoot, that's such a difficult question; I really love this movie a lot so choosing is hard.
The answer may end up changing at some point, but the beginning of the movie (aka before the starting credits appear,) is my favorite.
I know this is a kind of a cop-out answer, especially because the reason I call this my favorite, is not so much because of what happens in the beginning (even though I still love the scenes for what they are,) but because the beginning of this movie is when I fell in love with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wasn't going to give a long response but let's face it I can't.
The rest of this response would be part anecdotical, part praising the hell about this movie, and probably, some incomprehensible squealing because I love this movie so much is hard to find the right words.
Let's start with the anecdotical part.
I am not a movie person in the slightest, before last month I wasn't even a big fan of going to the movies; honestly, for most of my life the big screen, the sound, and such weren't enough to make it better that watch it in the comfort of my home.
This movie changed that for me. I had no way to run the numbers but I wouldn't be surprised if I had gone to the theatre this past month more times than I had gotten the past 10 years. I am going to be certain that's going to be the case by the time this movie stops showing up in theatres.
I decided to go and see this movie when it came out because I have Fridays free, and while I really liked ITSV, it wasn't my favorite movie, just one a enjoyed a lot but wasn't able to tick all the boxes for me to get up there.
Why go to see it when it came out? Because I didn't trust the internet wouldn't spoil me and even if the first film wasn't in my top 3, and while I wasn't sure the movie could live up to the bar the first set (Especially since the trailer didn't convince me.) One way or another, I want to see it for myself with as little information as I could so I would judge the movies for merit alone.
Because of the type of movie it was, the regular seating had already run out, so I ended up getting an extra expensive viewing. I remember seating in the theatre with my also overpriced food (Since I didn't go to see movies often may as well,) wondering if this was going to be worth all this money.
Let's than 20 minutes in, the movie proves to me it's worth that and much more.
Tumblr media
This, this was the shot that I saw when I thought "Oh it was worth it."
Is hard to describe how hard this movie hits and let me remind you, this shot is before it hits the 15-minute mark. I had never liked something this much this quickly.
I remember being glued to my seat, absolutely baffled how in so little time this movie was able to make me adore it.
The beautiful art direction, oh I wish I understood art better because I know there is so much more going on that I don't have the vocabulary for it.
I caught on other little details, like for me it was obvious how the fact that Gwen's apartment had warm colors except for her room was a representation of how much she is isolating herself, how she herself is blue by drowning in her isolation, and how she only became warm by hugging her father, the only bond he has left with someone who is active in her life.
Seeing Gwen switch between her civilian self and costume, thinking to myself to what degree she is stuck to her costume that she feels the responsibility of the mantle in her bones even when there is nothing going on.
I have 0 music knowledge really, but Self-love is my favorite song in the entire movie, and part of it is hearing the lyrics resonate with what's going on the screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's funny how I went from really not caring too much about something that happened to a character, to "The first four times I watched this movie I was crying at this part."
Granted, I know exactly why. Execution, time, and tone play heavily into this, after wall, we went from the moment being said in passing to having the flashback of how it plays it out, and is of course, a lot worse.
It reminds me of Encanto in a way, where Alma talking about the death of her husband doesn't come with a twist, in fact none of what she told us is really new information. However because we are seeing things from her true perspective rather that just being told a sanitized version of it, it hits all the harder.
Which is exactly what happens here.
(I didn't include the scenes of Gwen with Peter because the ATSV makes me teary eyed and I already talked a lot about it in other posts, and the one in ITSV is funny because is deadass Peter B model. That also plays a part.)
And this brings us to another reason why this sequence made me fall in love with this movie: Gwen.
Tumblr media
For this, I need to talk about my opinion of Gwen in ITSV: I liked her, and that's it.
I thought her design was cool, I adored the way she move in combat as if she was dancing. I liked that she was a good fighter and so put together. If this movie would have come out a few years earlier, I know my teenage self would have had a massive crush on her.
Yet that was as much as I could say about her, the movie didn't give us as much time to get to know her, and while the cool, badass persona is fun, I need more than that to like a character.
Then this movie comes, and has me crying for Gwen at the beginning of the movie.
I came from barely having any attachment to this character aside from liking the aesthetics, to wanting to hug and tell her everything was going to be okay. As far as I am concerned she is my daughter.
(Let's ignore the fact I am not even 10 years older than her and in no way, shape or form ready to be a parent.)
Tumblr media
I don't really have an analysis to make this, this is just a good joke that I like.
It does however kind of illustrate my point now, doesn't it?
This part is moving, is emotional, is an artistical marvel and this post doesn't even mention Vulture (a lot of people had talked about that already, including people who know enough about animation that can truly appreciate it; so I will just say my jaw was on the floor by that point.) All while being entertaining as heck.
Movies tend to be too long for me, in fact, I saw the new Indiana Jones recently and I was grasping for my phone around the 50 minute mark. Not to say the movie is bad (not really my taste but that's on me,) but to illustrate that this isn't my type of thing.
The new Indiana movie is only 10 minutes longer than ATSV, yet ATSV is the movie I had watched MULTIPLE TIMES already, and still sit through without being the least bit bored. It doesn't matter the number of times I had said this already because I still can't believe it.
And is at the beginning of this movie that it encapsulates the essence as to why it works so well, this is the part that reminds me why I had gotten to watch this on the big screen the number of times I had, is the reason why this movie has basically become my comfort watch, the thing I see when I am stressed out and I want to immerse myself in something I love.
I said at the beginning is a cop-out answer, and this is why; the beginning has all the part that reminds me why I adore the movie to the degree I had done, and while I love so many scenes, this is the part that comes to mind when I think of favorite.

HEY GUYS
Finals where kicking my ass, so the trans!atsv headcanons will be coming out a lot later than expected, I'm still working on them though so don't worry !!
In the mean time, I made some silly little insta profiles for a few of my favourite spiderverse characters !
side note, do we have a name for the spiderverse cinematic universe? Outside of the MCU, I know they're part of it but I want something to refer to the spiderverse plots specifically. ITSV, ATSV, and BTSV all refer to their specific movies, and spiderverse is annoyingly long for my ADHD brain to type out. Maybe we could call it SVCU, for "spiderverse cinematic universe"?
Tumblr media
Spider-Gram, the multidimensional social media platform for spider-people of all kinds. Owned by Miguel, mostly run by Lyla.
Peni Parker
Tumblr media
models fashion in her spare time, not for money she just likes trying on cute outfits. Outside of that she posts a lot of pictures of Spider and any cool landscapes she comes across.
She has the most followers becuz she has actually interesting content with her fashion shit, and none of its pervy she's a teenager who likes clothes don't make it weird. She doesn't do suggestive shit just genuine fashion or styling types.
Spiderman Noir
His username includes the earth he comes from becuz he's a professional.
his story is just rubix cube shit, he owns a bunch of different kinds. Posts are mostly Peni, his honorary adopted child.
He didn't write the description on his profile, Hobie did. I headcanon then as best friends aka Hobie annoys the shit out of him and he's completely fine with it. He only follows Peni + Hobie ofc.
Tumblr media
Gwen Stacy
When writing her description I was going to change it to something else because the joke was super dumb, until I realized that it totally fits her character.
She follows a ton of people but doesn't post so doesn't expect to be followed back. Miles, Hobie, and Jess are her three followers.
She doesn't follow Miles back because I feel like it fits with the whole premise of the second movie, and Pav was going to follow her but couldn't find her page and never bothered to ask about it.
Tumblr media
Pavitr Prabhakar
He follows all his friends plus some, except Gwen for reasons stated above and Miles-1610. He was following Miles at some point, but 42 removed all three of 1610's followers for shits and giggles once, Pav never noticed.
He posts the most out of all of them, lots of memes honestly but sometimes pics of his friends. He's not technically "part of" the band, because he doesn't play an instrument or anything, but he helps them write songs and shit so it still counts.
Tumblr media
Miles Morales (e-1610)
Hobie Brown
posts dumb pictures of himself (and often Pav) that get sent in their group chat as well as cool pictures of himself that he says he only spent a min taking when he actually spent at least 3 hours on the setup alone.
he's following the following people ;
Miles - 1610
Gwen Stacy
Pavitr Prabhakar
spider-man noir
Margo Kess
Peni Parker
Mayday Parker (- run by MJ + Peter, they only post photos where her face is covered by her hat)
the following people follow him ;
Miles - 1610
Gwen Stacy
Pavitr Prabhakar
spider-man noir
Peni Parker
Mayday Parker
Peter B. Parker
+ 3 random spider-people who think he's cool
Tumblr media
Miles Morales (e-42)
isn't verified because Miguel runs the app, followed all his friends but only Hobie and 42 followed him back. Was following Gwen but unfollowed her when he was the only person she wasn't following, becuz he's petty like that and they're still fighting.
He only has two posts because he didn't know the app existed until recently (everyone conveniently forgot to tell him until Hobie spilled the beans, Pav genuinely thought he alrdy knew about it)
the people he's following because I spent forever counting this out and you deserve to know ;
Hobie Brown
Gwen Stacy Mayday Parker
Pavitr Prabhakar
Miles-42
Peni Parker
Peter B. Parker
Spider-ham
Spider-man noir
Margo Kess
Tumblr media Tumblr media
doesn't post regularly, when he does it's just cool pictures of himself.
Only agreed to match with Miles so he would shut up about it. He def pretends to hate him but he's also the only person that he follows back.
Mayday, Jess, Margo, Miguel, and Lyla next ??
I loved making these and have ideas for more characters so if you guys wanna see them shoot me an ask !!

---- NINE PEOPLE I'D LIKE TO KNOW BETTER !
Tumblr media
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐑(𝐒): Any shade of blue, although darker / mid-tone are more appealing than lighter colours. I prefer any colour that doesn't reflect much light, really, since it helps me avoid migraine town.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑(𝐒): Honeycomb, and sometimes gingerbread. And also chocolate. Cinnamon + marshmallows too. I have a lot of favourite flavours, but those are the ones I can list off the top of my head. I have a pretty big sweet tooth. Overall, my favourite gingerbread-type thing would be lebkuchen. It's pretty easy to find here during the winter and it does pair pretty well with the honeycomb hot chocolate I have. So I guess that answers the question better.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂: Mostly rock & pop punk type stuff? Starset is my favourite band, but most I listen to would be classed as the other two. Not necessarily always into very heavy rock, though. Outside of my usual categories, I only really listen to genshin / hsr music & big time rush (for that childhood nostalgia, though it's good for energy levels too since it's very high energy music) & a few odd songs from eurovision through the years.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄(𝐒): Into The Spider-verse & the sequel. While I've had a lot of favourite movies growing up, I don't typically find the same enjoyment in them as I get older. ITSV is an exception, since I find I still love it even years after first watching it.
𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒: Honestly, the only series I'm currently watching & enjoying would be the One Chicago shows (except med & the lawyer one, those bore me a little but alas, medical dramas are not my thing) & Stranger Things. I need to watch BNHA again, since I really did enjoy that, & hopefully the Percy Jackson show will be good when it releases and become my favourite, since I love the books.
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆: Fake Out - Fall Out Boy
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒: Currently watching an episode of Chicago Fire with a friend while writing this, so that would be it, I think.
𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄: The Hunger Games, but only because I was watching it with my dad a few days ago. A welcome respite before the holidays when I get asked to watch a muppet christmas carol & the polar express again, but I'll take it. The last film I watched that I chose out, though, was ATSV.
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆: I've been trying to read the Percy Jackson books again, but I got sidetracked by a different book, so the answer would be Just Haven't Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens. Hopefully, it's going to continue being a good read.
𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐍: Replies & job searching, mostly. With a few breaks for games every now & then.

It’s so interesting to me (and by interesting I mean tragically bad) how most marvel movies are completely devoid of nuance. With a few notable exceptions, all their characters are either unwaveringly Good or insidiously Evil and nothing they do changes that.
Their villains are almost comically bad with little to no motivation beyond just being villains. Loki wanted to rule Earth because apparently being the God of mischief means you are inherently bad (even though Ragnarok proved otherwise), Ultron was a robot with no real moral compass he was just bad and didn’t know any better and Thanos’ reasonings for wiping out half the galaxy were laughable at best. Their villains are so painfully two dimensional that it’s difficult to be invested in any plot involving them because you know they’re incredibly shallow.
It’s much better with solo movies where you have villains like Bucky (who I don’t believe is a villain but he occupied the antagonist role in TWS so I’m using him as an example), Killmonger who was a significantly complex and even sympathetic villain, Zemo who wasn’t the greatest villain but at least had some understandable motives and so on.
Then you come to your heroes who almost never struggle with morality or the weight of their own actions, in fact we often have heroes who for all intents and purposes would be villains if marvel weren’t so adamant that they’re not. The two biggest examples being Tony and Clint.
Tony has a terrible record as a superhero. We start with AoU, where he creates the genocidal muderbot (something that could be ripped off the pages of every evil mastermind story in history) who wipes a nation off the planet. Then he becomes the poster boy for a police state and campaigns to rob superheroes of their autonomy for a whole movie before trying to murder Bucky for crimes he did not commit due to literally being tortured and brainwashed for several decades. Then in FFH he moves forward with his plans for an international police state (because that went so well the last time) without consulting anyone, created a WMD with less fail safes than Project Insight, hands it to a sixteen year old child with no guidance and indirectly leads to several catastrophic events.
The man has a trail of villains following him to the grave and yet not a single moment is spared to mull over the righteousness of his actions. Not once do we see him ponder if he’s done the right thing or not, we barely see anyone question him and all these behaviours that sound like the workings of an evil dictator on paper are glossed over because we are meant to believe that regardless of intent or impact, heroes are heroes no matter what.
Then we come to an even more maddening character in Clint Barton. Clint was never my favourite character, in fact I didn’t really pay him much mind until Endgame. Then came Endgame and they decided to make him a prolific serial killer. In those five years while everyone was trying to find solutions or at the very least help those affected by the snap, he decided to go on a mass murdering rampage and play judge, jury and executioner. Even if we overlook the many racist implications of his arc, there’s still so many things wrong with his murdercation.
But it never comes up. We’re meant to disregard his activities for the last couple of years as the avengers welcome him back with open arms. Because apparently it’s okay to become a mass murderer if you’ve lost your family (Zemo is rolling in his cell).
There are many things wrong with the mcu but the lack of self-awareness of their heroes has to be at the very top. Their approach to the world and the issue of good vs evil is childish at best and it’s the major distinction between a great superhero movie (see ITSV) and a poor one.

Just finished my third viewing of Into The Spider-Verse. My favourite viewing was the second - alone, at home, in front of my computer, able to stop and start at will and take notes or go back and watch how a seen was blocked, framed, and edited  - I think I finished it going “God damn I think there’s, like, one lousy cut in this whole dang movie that’s wild.”
This third viewing was my least-favourite. It was my first time seeing it on a TV - which means the screen was more than a hundred centimetres from my face, which placed it well beyond the optimal minimal range for my shit eye. I found after my first viewing of ITSV that I didn’t like it as much after I woke up the next morning - not because I had picked it apart all night instead of sleeping (though that happen an awful lot), but because I think the movie is like a drug. I knew on waking that I didn’t like the movie as much right now but the moment I saw it again I would love it as much as the first time. Like a drug you need that hit: coming down the power of the feelings fade. You have to be immersed in its kinetics: the flow of its action, the colour, the pulse that runs through that movie like a beating heart.  But sitting three metres away I wasn’t ‘jacked-in’ to the film. There was a distancing effect brought about by me having to squint, by the cats coming and demanding thing, by maman shifting and turning about because she was tired and her muscles ached. She liked the movie but didn’t love it - for reasons I can’t disagree with - and that adds another level of distancing: the mood of the room changes. Me, alone - or at least me alone with two sleeping, elderly small dogs - was not the vibe tonight. Movie still moved me, movie still made me feel things, but I couldn’t fall into it.

oooooo fun!!
also 👁️👁️👁️
and uhm. Geez what do I recommend here
You're a spider-verse fan first and foremost so you probably have a short attention span for older movies (I get it, me too, spider-verse are my absolute favourite sm movies)
So I only recommend watching the first movies if you're hyperfixated on Spider-Man as a concept, same with andrew garfield movies
Venom though! Watch Venom
Venom is fun
i am gonna rewatch Venom now actually I love that movie and the absolute losers that Eddie and Venom are
Also MCU Spider-Man movies if you have the attention span -- watching No Way Home especially gives you most of the context on the rest of the movie universes if you don't feel like watching them on your own (since it's technically a crossover haha)
(if you DO have the attention span for all the other movie universes I recommend watching those before No Way Home but . you don't have to, it's still enjoyable without the knowledge)
my personal favourite Spider-Man universe movies that are a huge comfort for me for some reason:
Spider-Man 2 (it's cause of doc ock), Spider-Man Far From Home cause mysterio is neat, Spider-Man No Way Home (it's cause of doc ock again, also jesus that's some angst, still a comfort movie though), Venom, technically Venom Let There Be Carnage too but only in a binge with the original
and OF COURSE itsv/atsv
. that turned into a ramble but I hope it's useful
if you watch Venom and Spider-Man Homecoming you'll catch a few references Spider-verse made actually
(also No Way Home if you listen well in the small Doc Ock section of atsv)
Tumblr media
@achickennamedcheese
"No apparent reason" mhm mhm :]
Anyway yes! I have a tsams Spider-Man au!! i have doodled Carnage Bloodmoon once like. A year ago - and it spiraled from there
I had it all planned out but never drew a THING
I am so sad
I should
I'll gather my notes on the au sometime and tag you lmao, I currently have NO idea where they are
Lunar was the prowler though! and KC was Venom (and TCM was Eddie -- it- it makes sense in the context of the AU I swear)
