5 years on I still think of you, still think of the little fights, the big and the last. If we were more mature we could’ve fixed what was broken. We were young and immature. I fear you may still have the same mindset but hope that you grow as I know that deep down you are a good person. 

The time we spent together made me realize that, finally, I was deserving of love and you made me feel love. Unconditional, stupid, young love. I can see you have moved on, you have a new friend group, your relationship with your family is better than it was and that’s growth. Go you!

I fear that now I am very unwell and may not see the summer sun again but every time the warm moonlight hits your face, and you see a wild animal on your walk home you know that the love you put into me is being reciprocated.

Life doesn’t always give you what you want when you want it but it will give you what you need when you need it. We were both bad for each other and with the narrative you have now created on what we once were I fear you will always have a dismissive mind on what went wrong and that there was negative from both sides. 

I am writing this as a goodbye for myself to you, knowing you will never read this but with the hopes that one day life will teach you how much effect you had on someone’s life. You taught me I was deserving of love, such stupid, stupid love, in a time that I thought no one would ever want or love me and I thank you for that. But please don’t make me the villain of your stories anymore as my life is coming to a conclusion soon enough by the looks of things. And as much as I would love to reach out and speak to you one more time I know how that would end, with one of us doing something we would regret, or even worse, with it ending in us doing something we truly wanted...

I do still love you, but I have to say goodbye to that love for myself to be able to live some type of life. I will no longer check up on you to see if you're doing Okay as you once did for me, even after we ended. You are deserving of love but be careful of who you are allowing in your life and the narrative they are creating for you to believe as I know it is damaging.

We spoke for the last time last year, I saw you after this and wanted nothing more than to grab you and say “we need to sort this shit out”, but everything in me told me that it would have done no good because I don’t think I could have stopped myself from falling into your arms as you once did mine. Stopping mid argument and grabbing you. The issue with a hug is, it hides the face so you can’t tell the true emotions of the person.

As you once said yourself, I will never write about you again, I won’t speak of you, I am going to try to convince myself it didn’t happen. As much as that will kill me I think its the only thing I can do because you were the best and worst thing to ever happen to me and I hope you live a life you deserve.
