it feels like i should at the very least post an introduction, regardless of the fact that i don't expect very many (if any) people to find and interact with this blog.

so the short of it is this: i've been trying or a long time, and instead of trying and failing i will aspire to do and succeed in the ways i can.

this is as much a journal as it is a map of my journey to self-discovery and coming into my own being (regardless of what that might look like).

i've always lived with the mindset that 'it's no big deal' because at an early age i decided that other people take priority above my own wants and needs. that changes. today.

i will no longer apologise for being myself - i will no longer hold back and pull the metaphorical punches that is standing up for myself. i will no longer take the back seat of my own life.

you're welcome to follow along on my journey, but for the most part this is the first of many things i will do for myself.

i don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up.

Social anxiety during a presentation

Last time I presented a project in front of the class i was shaking and twitching uncontrollably all over my body. When i sat in my desk waiting to go up, my desk was rattling and creaking. When I actually got up to the front of the room i kept my voice loud but it was still unsteady. I had to dig my nails into a nearby desk and use every ounce of will power in my body to not be visibly seizing in front of the room. I turned my head to address the teacher, who asked me something and i realized my neck kept twitching so i had to keep it forward. I was confident in my project and as nervous as i was, i still really enjoyed presenting. And yet, my body wouldn’t physically let me be fine. I was shaking out of control. My social anxiety made it physical impossible for me to just calm myself down and be confident. So yeah, i can totally “just get over it and do my presentation” because “its not a big deal”
