thinking about Jamie winning an award while he's at Richmond, and everyone on the team (coaches, players, etc.) attend the award ceremony to watch him receive it, right?

So the organizers of the event compile a bunch of videos of Jamie, like his career highlights since he first started playing and various interviews over the years about why Jamie enjoys playing football, who his role models are, who he thinks the greatest player of all time is, etc.

And without fail, in every single interview, Jamie finds some way to bring up Roy Kent.

Jamie, age 9: "I want to be just like Roy Kent when I grow up!"

Jamie, age 11: "Roy Kent is an incredible player, I really look up to him."

Jamie, age 15, in response to "Who do you think the greatest player of all time is?": "Uh, Roy Kent, obviously."

Cue Jamie (who is normally never embarrassed by ANYTHING) getting increasingly more red until eventually he just gives up and hides his face in his hands, meanwhile Roy is sitting next to him, grinning maniacally (+ the team is wolf-whistling the entire time) (they're never gonna let this go)

Thinking about OOTS always makes me more sure I'm right to hate on dove/tiger a bit I will not lie to you. Their whole relationship in that arc was weird

Its so ???? he litro barely interacts with her on the mission and then is all "i'll miss you". dovepaw does go to try befriend Sedgewhisker and Petalfur after the patrol (shes lonely in thunderclan ig) but only Tigerheart is interested and even then its like so... rushed? They jump straight into secret meetings and "boundaries will never separate us...." shit. Also what was he doing on the ThunderClan border like... huh. The whole relationship is kinda weird.... its not even negative chemistry its just hollow. He also lacks a personality really, hes just mindlessly cheery and a bit empty headed. She then thinks he used her to get herbs for the clan which is like ??? big if true (the erins do nothing with this premise)

It is kinda interesting in the later books where its obvs (to me) that Dovewing leaves TC because her whole deal in oots is about lacking agency/a choice so her actions feel like an extension of that but but... leave for Tigerheart?? im a big fan of the old "dovewing shud have left the clans drama to be a kittypet" theory tho.

I think what bugs me the most about the type of analysis that is common in this fandom is that sometimes people are obsessed with not actually looking at choices being made by characters and instead try to project extra-textual symbolism/parallels they pulled out of thin air or use essentialist arguments to predict a certain character’s trajectory. There is already a weird tendency to blame bloodlines instead of institutions, oppressive/destructive social constructs/systems, and abusive cycles. This series repeatedly deconstructs bio essentialist ideas in a multitude of ways. Characters being viewed as monsters for the way they are born is a concept that is repeatedly torn down. There is a combination of nature & nurture at play with these characters, I admit, but it is nuanced. Your environment and your nature are in constant conversation with each other. Certain environmental factors will worsen certain attributes, while repress others etc. Your blood is not evil, nor is it pure, it just is, and your nature will be affected by your rearing, tragedies you face, and the environment you live in. Monsters are created and developed, not born. This whole concept is apparent with all the siblings in the series. Dany & Viserys are drastically different people, and make different choices despite having similar experiences and the same blood. Same can be said for Joff, Myrcella, and Tommen. Another very good example are the Lannister siblings. The twins’ idea of “one soul in two bodies” is deconstructed, and they are faced with how dissimilar they actually are. All three siblings have differences in nature, as revealed by their behavior as young children & their current values and motivations, and they are all shaped very differently by their environment. Cersei is affected by the oppressive system of the patriarchy, Jaime by the trauma due to the violent construct of knighthood, and Tyrion by the rampant ableism of the world around him. Tywin also shapes them by giving each of them their own flavor of parental abuse based on the role he wants them to play in his legacy. It is so apparent just how these characters became what they are, and how they navigate their world as a result of a nuanced combination of nature and nurturer. But in the end, it comes down to choices that they keep making. Characters on the right path can also falter sometimes, weigh their values wrong, and make bad decisions at certain points. Not to mention how thoughts and words do not speak as much as actions and actual choices that are made do. You all take bio essentialist arguments that some characters in the text make at face value, even when it is obviously bullshit. Any analysis that hinges entirely on “this character is the son/daughter of this character”, or “this thing on the surface parallels this other thing from something I read/watched”, “this character is a dragon. Dragons plant no trees”, “this character is a monster”, “this character is from this house”, “this character is related to this character” etc instead of actually looking at what said characters do or try to do is gonna lead to unconvincing arguments that are antithetical to one of the main ideas that this series is built on. To me it feels like these books are communicating that in spite of your birth, your origin, your trauma, your prophecies, etc it is primarily your choices that lead you to where you are and the legacy that you create. Cersei’s prophecy will come true as a result of the choices she makes. Dany’s many prophecies are also as a result of choices she makes, she was not just gifted with everything that she has achieved, she is an active agent who makes choices that push her a certain direction. This is also why it is weird when everybody wants to make characters have a predetermined trajectory solely based on “what” they are, or who they are related to.

Not only does George say this in interviews, it is an explicit thesis statement in the text itself:

This is the concluding statement of Jaime’s ASoS arc. Like “The things I do for love”, “So many vows...”, and “The heroes […] the best and the worst, and those who were a bit of both”, as extremely relevant it is to him in specific, it is a major thesis statement for the series as whole, and overlaps with many characters, just like how other characters also have a bunch of these overlapping arc theses. So can we please primarily look at the choices characters make and what ultimately motivated them to make these choices rather than thinking their ending and what they “are” as characters is set in stone because of the reasons mentioned. I feel like how you all engage with some of these characters contradicts the deconstruction of this kind of essentialism that is so apparent in these books.

I was sad af about the horse; they really could have just glossed past it and not focused so much on making it so visual. But one thing I do really appreciate about this show is that it does the animals honor. (It even does the orcs honor. No one is simple fodder for death.) Elrond grieved his mount and took time to bid it farewell. In the first season, Adar's horse fell -- and they made a point of showing it getting back up.

Arondir's story came too far to wind up where it wound, so I hope there is something yet to be said for him.

And Sauron's showing that he's just as slimy in a 'fair form' as he was with no form at all.

I wish the archer had had some character development. That was an epic scene, but we had no emotional attachment to her.

I'm not sure which writing decision I hate Julian Fellowes more for: the rape of Anna at the hands of Green, which is a gruesome affair that happens only to spawn drama for a season and a half with no catharsis at the end as the plot just fizzles out after more and more and more time of Anna not looking for any help and not talking to her husband and not calling the police on Green and yet another fuck-stupid innocent-in-prison plot, and which feels like he introduced it only because thes Bates's have dared to be happy and unbothered for a few episodes...

...or the rape of Tom at the hands of Edna Braithwaite, which is never even acknowledged as a crime in-universe. In fact, while Anna got to be appropriately traumatized for long after the fact, showing me that Fellowes at least in theory understands that such a thing doesn't just blow over, in the case of Tom, it just kinda blows over. In fact, Tom gets to feel guilty about having "participated". In fact, Mrs Hughes, usually one of the most level-headed and humane characters of the show, thinks he's "also to blame" for what happened. Uh, Fellowes? TOM WAS BLACK-OUT DRUNK WHEN SHE HOPPED ON HIM! He was so damn near unconscious that he mistook her for his wife who's been dead for two years. And she made sure he would be beyond the capability of giving consent, because she saw that he was emotionally vulnerable and used the chance to get him drunk. For all I know, she roofied him. And yet this is never treated as though Edna violated Tom; it's treated as him having stepped out of line. Honestly, I find Fellowes' ability to write a female rapist combined with his complete inability to recognize a female rapist as such rather disconcerting.

Does Angel Dust Have backpain from being so tall?

I imagine so, yeah. With the rest of the poor souls that arrive to Hell with less human like traits than others- like with multiple sets of limbs or other similar body extensions like longer/elongated limbs/wings/others but my brains not working at full speed

Angel Dust definitely has back pain, and honestly probably just physical pain all around both from physical and mental strain from work AND... also his Unfortunate Long Limbs and Unsupportive Back and REALLY messy Muscle/Internal Composition , Probably.

Everyones design intrigues me and its so fun to dissect... I need to draw angel some time he's so good but the extra arms.... shudders

Finally made a Tav meetup image to match my Durge one, also after finally resolving my lag issues i could play a little farther into my Misfortune save (one day i will finish Act 3. It's just so much) which led to us finally being able to break Wyll's pact (yay!) but it also illustrated just how much Mizora gets bullied on her save. I imagine she absolutely loathes appearing in camp because of it.

I also finally get to introduce you to Baphomet! My third Dark Urge whom you might have seen before as a cameo in my Durge meetup art. For the longest time i barely had any art of her, but i've caught the bug i'm afraid so even if it's not a lot it's still enough for an introduction! (And more is certainly on the way)

Baphomet is a Way of the Four Elements (Fire spells only) Monk good Durge who is, on the surface, the most normal one out of the three. She was raised in a Lathandarian monastery as a star novice, the balance she was taught was what kept the Urges at bay for an unusually long time. This, however, was a double edged sword as when she finally snapped as a full-fledged Monk she was ten times more dangerous. Her killing of a Dawnmaster and several other novices led to her being banished from the monastery, and that's when she set off for the Temple of Bhaal. Yadda yadda main story stuff happens.

As a person Baphy is very stoic, being even less expressive than Tav; she's quiet and generally regarded as almost unreadable by her companions and instead lets her good actions speak for her. Internally there are a lot of things going on in her head though, most of them being her trying to grapple with The Urge. She's a very considerate person and tries to pass fair judgement to everyone, though can be lenient on those that show her kindness. She may not be good with words but she will do all in her power to support you.

KDJ seems to think there's more to him than just what he seems to be. He uses language like "presumably my younger self" and "acted like a constellation" and I think 'mass of subconsciousness' was thrown in there to describe him too.
