Punctuation Rules
Punctuation is like the very last thing I actively think about when writing something (what's the point of fixing the punctuation of a sentence you'll end up taking out or editing anyway?) but it is still an important step!
Having proper punctuation increases your credibility and the overall quality of your work. Also, it’s doubly important in professional work, emails, and resumes. With that, let’s get into it!
Commas
We use them all the time. We get them wrong all the time. There are six rules for where you can use commas:
Use to separate items in a list or series:
The book was long, tedious, and painful.
The comma after tedious is called the Oxford’s comma. Feel free to debate if you need it in the reblogs, but you won’t get in trouble professionally if you use it or leave it out (in most cases.) It always comes before ‘and’ in a list to prevent confusion of the items:
I ran into my mother, my best friend and a scientist. (1 person?)
Is very different from
I ran into my mother, my best friend, and a scientist. (3 people)
2. Use to separate independent clauses, with a coordinating conjunction.
An independent clause is just a sentence that makes sense on its own.
A coordinating conjunction is: and, but, or so.
Miley had a ton of work to do, so she set her alarm early.
3. Use after an introductory statement.
Introductory statements begin with many different words, but typically: Before, after, when, while, as soon as, etc.
Before her first class, Stacy looked up her prof on Rate Your Teacher.
Main point about this, “Before her first class” is not an independent clause, it needs a second part.
4. Use to surround info in a sentence
This info is not essential to the sense-making of the sentence, but it should be relevant.
Parents, no matter how skilled, cannot function at 100% all the time.
5. Addresses and Dates
6. And with direct quotes
Important for essay writing.
Casey said, “I hate this house!”
Colons:
Introduce a list after a complete sentence:
I have three favourite foods: spaghetti, chowder, and garlic bread.
2. Use after ‘the following’ or ‘as follows’
Please provide the following information: your date of birth, full name, and address.
3. Don't use with sentence fragments
A sentence fragment is an unfinished sentence (that doesn’t make sense on its own).
My favourite foods are: spaghetti, chowder, and garlic bread.
This is wrong because, “My favourite foods are.” Isn’t an independent clause.
4. Introduce an explanation
My parents ask one thing of me: that I try my hardest.
5. Introduce a quotation
Mom always quoted the bible: “The truth will set you free.”
6. And times (12:00)
Semi-Colon:
Not super common, but makes you look good if you can use it properly.
Separate two related independent clauses
I never drink Starbucks; it tastes burnt.
2. Similar, but with conjunctions: however, moreover, therefore, nevertheless, etc.
I don’t like Starbucks; however, it does the job.
Agatha didn’t witness anything; nevertheless, she was called in to court.
3. Use to avoid misreading in a series
The invited guests are the club leader; the treasurer; the new member, Jason Tanner; and Wanda Johnson, the investor.
Semicolons clarify the separation between the four people. Had it been, “The club leader, the treasurer, The new member, Jason Tanner…” it would seem that the new member and Jason Tanner are two different people.
Apostrophes – Possessive
‘s shows possession of a singular noun
The girl’s parents were quite rich.
2. S’ shows possession of a plural noun
The students’ books were all over the place. (there are multiple students who have books)
3. ‘s to singular words ending in s, and nouns that are plural
My boss’s office My children’s toys
Apostrophes – Contractions
Use to combine two words (they are, he is, there is, etc.)
It is -> It’s a beautiful park They are -> They’re really good friends You are -> you’re good at this and so on.

Hey, so you said in your tags about how katsuki is a freak in his own way, could you please expand on this idea a little and when it comes to Izuku?
Sure!
I actually made a post about this very concept semi recently but that post also didn’t really have organization lmao
The main reason I’ve always thought Katsuki as “a freak” as I dub him is for the very foundations of his personality. I think the main reason why no one in the western fandom looks at him and sees him for his (kinda) socially inept aspects is because of a combination between cultural differences and the nuances that hero society throws into Japan specifically.
It’s well known that Horikoshi’s story/world is heavily influenced by American super hero comics. Superman, Spider-Man, Harley, Poison Ivy, Bat-man, Captain America, ant man, etc. are all very obvious influences throughout the story, with characters like Allmight often feeling like a combination of Superman and Captain America.
The reason I bring this up is because the very aspects of these super hero comics is kind of in direct contradiction with Japanese society, especially as those heroics within the world affect the society around them.
Heroes are this curve ball thrown into a society that teaches its citizens to be polite, complicit, and quiet. That’s not to say that this is necessarily a “wrong” way to have a society, but I think it’s with this context that Katsuki’s character (and therefore the intentions behind it) become clearer.
Heroes are bright, loud, and powerful. But long before Katsuki was a hero he already was these things; how does that affect his social life? How do the people around him treat him in the context that he is both not a hero nor having of a quirk? If heroes are the “exceptions” to the society around them, and Katsuki is not yet an exception, then he is an outcast, right?
It’s this context that I feel most people forget. Katsuki understands the people around him, he’s very observant and nosy, but he also just doesn’t care. He is unabashedly himself at all times. Those jokes Aizawa made about keeping him out of the spotlight showcase this perfectly, Japanese society expects a certain standard for the social context around him—which he actively ignores.
It’s a very ironic aspect to his character given that most people admire and/or envy him. It puts a whole new light on izuku saying that he was the one “actually in his life”, that Izuku may have admired him before his quirk for simply being himself. Not to mention how it makes sense that he would believe izuku was looking down on him for admiring him before his quirk, because Katsuki was bullied! I think that’s an often overlooked detail given that he only became “acceptable” to most kids around him when he gained his quirk. The memory this is showcased in is entirely Izuku’s pov, which is heavily biased in the sense that he admired Katsuki. Getting jumped by kids two years older than you though is so weird, and I can’t help but wonder if the perspective might’ve changed were it in Katsuki’s pov.
Tumblr media
To me, the idea that Izuku’s memories of Katsuki being this social god come from blind childlike envy and admiration, especially as the contextual things happening (Katsuki is a REALLY big hero fan, he’s rude, he doesn’t remember people’s names, actively terrible at making friends at UA for a good couple weeks, getting bullied to even a minimal extent) in comparison to the words being told. You are told by Izuku that Katsuki is amazing, brilliant, talented, energetic, crass, and in reality (especially when they enter UA), to most people Katsuki is annoying, loud, mean, a little intimidating, and not nearly as cool as he thinks he is. His friends spend the entirety of the beginning of their first year actively making fun of him for thinking he’s tough shit when he so obviously isn’t.
And I think the biggest most important part to this “Katsuki is a bit of a social outcast” discussion, is that the villains thought he was like them! They thought he would hurt people because he screamed “die” and didn’t like winning when he felt he didn’t earn it.
The only reason Katsuki is not as much of an outcast as, say, Izuku, is simply because he won the lottery. He earned that extra point. He caught that curve ball to Japanese society and honed it into something greater.
And, see, Izuku can’t really know/comprehend that Katsuki would be, I don’t know, unpopular to any extent (shown in the beginning of the series when he’s freaking out on the bus that HES being complimented and Katsuki is being insulted), because to him Katsuki always acted like a hero. And in a way, he does! But it’s in the way that hero society throws that curve ball, contradictory to social norms, and of course it makes sense why they still happened at all; the past was dangerous! It was life changing! Disparity and violence and death, desperation fueled this huge monumental change. And what is izuku “I don’t know how to make people like me” Midoriya going to do when this kid, Bakugou Katsuki, acts like one of the heroes on TV? He’s not gonna call the Geneva convention and ask why the hell this child isn’t acting like a normal citizen—he’ll admire him to such a visceral degree because it’s almost like he was born a hero.
I like the concept that, because heroes and villain are cut from the same cloth, relatively similar in concept and strength and past hurts in their history, that this also affects how they are socially. You are outcasted by society: you want to oppose societal norms to live freely as yourself and others as theirselves, you want to make sure everyone can smile at the end of the day because sometimes you or your parents couldn’t, you want to be the best because someone told you that you couldn’t, you want to be just like the hero on your TV, who inspired the hero in your life.
Also you need to be at least a little bit of a freak to be listening in on people’s business all the time because it involves your childhood friend/rival to literally any degree. Like bro what is wrong with you come HERE BBG LET ME PICK YOUR BRAIN APART PIECE BY PIECE
More side note: idfk where I got the Geneva convention thing. I was just thinking about how mha has genuinely had violations against the Geneva convention

Hiiiii analyzing every part of the Subnautica 2 trailer that I can because I am unwell.
Tumblr media
Starting off we have a diver in a deep empty abyssal-like area. Typically in the depths there is a source of bioluminescence or at least rock formations for light to reflect off of. The only place inside the game there’s this much empty darkness is the dead zone.
This could mean we have the chance to explore the dead zone! Or that there’s a new area that has similar features to the dark depths of the void.
This would be a banger feature to have considering how horrifying the dead zone is to traverse already. It would provide a new difficulty to the game if we had to confront or avoid packs of adult leviathans to progress.
Tumblr media
The trailer then shifts to what could be the safe shallows or twisty bridges equivalent in this game. It seems we’re getting what looks like a proper reef! It’s super neat to see the game being more colorful with its environment design.
Tumblr media
We also have a clear look at a new species of fish in this game. Considering its shape and large eye it could be a tropical/reef version of the peeper (or maybe the feather fish?). Or it could just be a new edible fish entirely!
All in all cool design. I do like how vibrant they look
Tumblr media
Ok now for one of the most hype things in the trailer. Some sort of hermit crab based leviathan? It would be fascinating to have a leviathan that shows up in the shallows instead of only in deeper water. It could provide an additional challenge but I think this would be something similar to the reefback. Perhaps one of the elements of gameplay would be making it lift itself to access things hidden beneath it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up we have what looks like an underwater city or at least a big building in the background. It’s pretty much a given there’s mysterious underwater structures in this franchise but I personally think it would be fascinating to have a proper Atlantis style city in Subnautica. This could also maybe incorporate the Architects into it? Like maybe after Al-An went to his home planet he brought back more Architects to cure the Kharaa and they set up a base.
Then again this also doesn’t exactly look like Architect architecture which is more of a cube structure. It looks closer like a temple’s architecture from what we can see. Maybe it could be a new alien species? That seems less likely
Tumblr media
Next we have a specific feature that I am so hyped to see. It looks like Subnautica may be adding rip currants or something similar. Something that would actively make it more difficult for a player to swim to the surface. This would be so interesting because other than caves/islands/ice flows we generally never have something preventing us from going to the surface in Subnautica. Nothing actively pushing the player back at least. This would be a fresh new difficulty to get used to (if done correctly, at least. It could also be very annoying)
Tumblr media
From there we get into something extra curious. It seems like we may have a second human in this game. Before Subnautica’s concepts have been based in the fact your character is alone on this planet with the odds against them. The way I see it, this addition can largely go three ways:
- a possible addition of a co-op system to Subnautica: unlikely, but it has been semi-popular in modding communities. People would have fun playing with their friends but I think it would take away from the horror aspect of Subnautica, one of its major draws
- a human companion that joins you in your journey: slightly more likely than multiplayer, but still not the direction I think they’d go. This could open the game to having puzzles that need two people and a companion could function similar to the sea monkey (bringing you needed items basically). This would also require a lot of AI and would probably be more annoying than anything else, however
- someone like Marguerite or Al-An that shows up in cutscenes and phone calls but mostly stays in one place: the most likely scenario. It could be we have a home base of sorts where this person is stays and gives the player hints and coordinates
Tumblr media
Also as a note the vehicle she’s driving looks like a sea truck. Please oh please tell me it is not Sea Truck 2.0
Tumblr media
Aaaand now we’re onto the most hype part of the trailer. We have a new leviathan!
This one looks a lot like a Kraken type with a bunch of limbs. It could maybe be related to the crab squids? Like a dead zone version of them? It could explain why it’s attracted to the vehicle
Or as a completely out there theory this could maybe be architect technology like the warpers? It may just be me but the way it moves its hands and its claws are very much reminiscent of heavier machinery. It would be so banger if the architects built themselves a leviathan.
Either way it would be fascinating to encounter a leviathan with the ability to seek out a grab a player with ‘hands’. Before creatures typically grab with their mouths or pinchers like the Reaper. This would be an interesting twist to learn to avoid
In conclusion I am unwell about this game and the theories are buzzing. I am so hyped

Don't know if you've already talked about bill but how is he coping with modern times? I always imagined a modern bill becoming a car mechanic, or something adjacent, maybe even becoming a small influencer where he posts abt trucks and such (and also his dog. I just know that man gets a dog in any type of modern au)
i have not spoken about bill because bill as a character just makes me so sad fam like was he doomed to be the power hungry bastard of toxic masculinity we see in rdr1 or did the events of rdr2 actively make him that way why was everyone so mean to him like you can see the way people treats him chipping away at him it makes me want to scream but back to timewarp au
therapy. my otp is bill and therapy. man needs anger management and to unpack that emotional baggage. it would take a while but once bill made the connection sometimes when he feels angry and acts out he's actually feeling sad/upset he'd start to develop as a person really quickly.
he would be so conflicted about seeing the gang again. why does no one talk about what happened to bill in the gap between rdr1 and 2?? dutch fucking left him behind bill would've followed dutch to the ends of the earth and been the perfect obedient loyal son he always wanted and dutch just threw him away because hunting down arthur and john for betraying him was more important!!
the new main gang would've picked him up because they knew he was going to be timewarped but it would be so uncomfortable.
poor kieran would've been so terrified he had to stay with annabelle and grimshaw until bill left. he usually regresses a little whenever someone timewarps because he has obvious reason to be nervous about the gang but it would've been a full breakdown just knowing bill was coming back. bill would've felt bad about it too because he never made the connection between how the gang's teasing made him feel vs what his bullying was doing to kieran.
the rest of the gang would've gone straight back to teasing bill because that was the dynamic last time they were all together. he would've hated it and lashed out a lot. he became something after they died they better respect it but of course they just don't. bill would've barely understood modern era before he bounced.
happy stuff now i promise. he ended up hitchhiking for a bit and learning about the modern world from truckers. he would love going to bars and truck stops and dodgy mom and pop diners along the highway.
he ends up getting a job on a ranch (ironically the modern day MacFarlane which became a massive multimillion dollar operation) and still gets to ride horses almost every day. he picks up herding super quickly and gets all the validation and care he deserves. the owners love him and are really supportive and patient when it comes to dealing with his temper.
he gets a little power trip out of learning to drive the semi-truck and unlike most of the hands is always super excited and happy to go on cross-country road trips delivering things to processing facilities. his favorite thing though would be the combine harvester he will work 14 hour shifts without complaint harvesting grain.
bill loves dogs almost more than he loves his horses he cannot drive past a sign that says puppies for sale without at least stopping to look. this habit has resulted in him having five dogs and they are his new gang. his first dog was a stray he picked up on the side of the road it's a wire-haired gundog mutt just called Mutt. he also has two cattle dogs (Clem and Roanoke), a long hair shepherd called Mercer and finally a catahoula called Abel. they are all working dogs and he does not go anywhere without all of them. they all sleep on his bed and are just as happy to go on cross country road trips in the semi as he is.
he can control all of them with a whistle or non verbal commands and they are insanely well trained. Micah fucking hates him sure Baymax can bark and growl and look scary on command but the second one of Bill's dogs curls up its lips Baymax is hiding behind Micah terrified and Bill is so fucking smug about it.
through therapy and having his ideals challenged bill starts making an effort to be less racist and sexist and actually confronting some of the gang about the way they treated him in 1899 and mending those relationships because look yeah he went off the deep end after the VDLs but he does still care about them and wants to have good relationships with them he's just got to work through a lot of issues go bill i believe in you
and most importantly he finally got over the internalized homophobia and admitted to himself he's a bit/lot gay. he's not wearing beads at pride levels of comfortable with it yet but he is a classic bear who will protect the gaybies from violence with violence.
it's like a many, many years slow burn but him and alden get together because charlybird's art is one of the only reasons i gave bill a chance as a character and i am a better person for it

Celia Ripley Thoughts
ok these are some observations/theories/headcanons i have about Ms. Ripley and seeing as things have started to get Crazy on podcast i figured this was a good time to write them all down in a semi organized and coherent collection.
From her first appearance i was struck by the fact that her personality is vastly different than either Lynne Hammond or Archives!Celia. At first i thought this was because she was the Celia from the Protocol universe but as Things have happened I’m thinking actually her super perky friendly personality is not really genuine.
She knows far more than she’s letting on and has no interest in telling anyone, even Sam. She actually seems like she’s trying to keep information from Sam or at least control what information he gets and when.
In the meeting with Gerry Celia kept distracting Gerry from the questions Sam was trying to ask. She interrupted Sam twice just as he was about to ask a question to ask about first his house and then the painting. Ill get more into this in a second when i talk about my theory as to what is going on with her but mostly she just seemed excited to have met Gerry Keay and to have gotten a painting out of it.
Celia recognized Jon’s voice the first time she heard Chester read a case but just now decided to mention Jon and Martin to Sam. This goes back into me thinking that she seems to be wanting to keep information from Sam.
I think Sam really likes Celia but I don’t think Celia’s feelings are nearly as genuine for him. It is possible that I’m biased but all of her flirty interactions with him have felt stilted and a bit fake in the same way that her general bubbly personality does. Personally i think she is trying to get as much information from him before she shows any of her own cards.
I saw someone else mention this as well but Celia seems to be like the audience insert for people listening to Protocol who also listened to TMA. Not just with the information she knows but with how excited she was to meet Gerry.
Couple of theories:
I think that if you travel to at least the Protocol universe you have to kill your counterpart if you want to remain stable in the new universe. Conservation of mass and all that. We see that with Darrien he’s bene fine and taken over the other Darriens life with most people none the wiser. I think Celia didn’t kill her counterpart and that’s why she keeps getting teleported in front of cars and trains and things. We know from Anya Villette’s statement that when you travel to the Archives universe you sort of merge with your counterpart (her friends still recognized her and its not mentioned that there were two of her but her friends were “distant”) so i think the kill your double thing is specific to the Protocol universe. It’s possible that this is why she couldn’t take Jack with her if she went back because he wouldn’t have a counterpart to merge with. He just fully doesn’t exist in the other world.
I think Celia intentionally dimension hopped as a favor (as much as someone does favors for their former cult leaders) to Georgie and Melanie. This is gonna touch on my general theory for what the Archives universe looked like post 200 that i wont explain further here for sake of time. Suffice to say i think it was Bad for pretty much everyone even after everything went back to “normal”. I think the hilltop road rift was still active after everything but Georgie Melanie and Basira were too busy trying to help out as the only three people alive who didn’t just spend several months in their worst nightmares to do anything about it. This is when i think Celia, as someone with no memories of any friends or family to reconnect with, volunteered to go see what was on the other side of the rift. Before she left i think Melanie and Basira (and Georgie to a lesser extent) gave her all the information they could on the supernatural including their history with the archives and important people that might be able to help (people like Gerry Keay). I think they told her mostly to gather information and maybe look for jon and martin if she could and come back. Having jack obviously would have complicated that but i do think that’s why she’s knows this universe’s Georgie.
I think one of two things probably happened to lead her to apply at the OIAR. Either 1) she was doing her own research and got to a point where a random unconnected civilian gets to the end of their resources so went to find a place where she could have more access to information or 2) after getting to the new universe she settled down and got comfortable. Like i said I don’t think things were good in the Archives universe, I’m sure a whole new world probably would have felt like a fresh start. She had a fling, had jack, had a normal job. And then ran into something that forced her to get involved again.
Anyway am very excited to see where they go with her i think she’s neat :]

Nah, your mention of the teacup scene was honestly perfect, because, just like P-Z it just feels so weird, and just kinda pointless/disjointed. Heckers, even the people I know who LIKE the story of totk, did not seem to like the teacup scene. Also, if I can throw in: It felt like a scene that, in its idea, should have been in the DLC. Maybe actually focus on just Sonia and Rauru as people, instead of the weird "talking around the bush, your powers don't work, Link, and the other piddly talk." Like in the botw DLC, the focus was more on a "slice of life" peek into the Champion's life. It's such a waste of main-story content, and literally established nothing new. Heck, I actually hate that scene because it's just such a lazy way for Rauru to find out who Link is, and then later tell Ganondorf about Link. Additionally, while we're talking about disappoint scenes/bad writing. Zelda's "I didn't remember anything from being a Dragon." It was such a bad cop-out, and it annoyed me to no end. They didn't need to mention it, leave it up to the player to interpret if Zelda remembers, and what she might have remembered or forgotten. The way it gets dropped is also like a hard rock. Riju: "So how was it?" Zelda: "Lol idk, don't remember." It's weird how you can put Botw-Zelda's sacrifice against Totk-Zelda's sacrifice, and Botw she just sacrificed a lot more, even though Totk really plays up the severity of the "Sacrificing yourself to become a dragon"-thing, only for it to just be the most overhyped McGuffin to get Zelda back into her time.
Hey, thanks for the follow-up!
Yeah, agreed. I have talked extensively about the dragon problem somewhere??? I'll try to find it. Here! Which is basically that even if I agree the dragon thing is super cool and powerful and visually jawdropping and emotionally something, it's... kind of not a lot of what it claims to be.
But in addition to that, you made me think of something else by having this comment; there are multiple times during voiced cutscenes specifically where lines are used (I say used because every voiced line costs *so much money* so producers will always beg you to keep them to a minimum) to reassure the player that nothing truly bad is happening.
The thing with Zelda telling you she doesn't remember her time as a dragon is a great example, but there are many more. The first time I actively noticed it was during the Sealing cutscene where Rauru dives in to put his hand in Ganondorf's uhh tender heart (and he steals his magic? I wish something was actually done with that it could have been great if Rauru was corrupting himself voluntarily or something), and there is a whole dialogue where Ganondorf goes "hahaha thousands of years will pass in the blink of an eye", which could be a way to just brush off Rauru's actions as negligeable, but could also be a way to minimize the toll of time taken on both of them the same way it did for Zelda, especially since they semi-turn to stone immediately after. There are a lot of dialogue bits that feel like they are here for damage control and reassure us that the nice things are nice and the bad things are bad (a lot of the gerudo Sage dialogue also reads like that to me as well).
But yes, in general, it is a game that is incredibly averse to consequences, which does a lot of harm to its narrative tension in my opinion.

My post about quality critiquing is still going around and it's reached a whole new group of people who seem to think it's a flop, not because it's "too nice" as many of the early critiques said, but because it's "not nice enough".
I don't know how to tell y'all this, but the point of critique is not to be nice nor is it to scathing. It's to be *informative*.
A review that says "this book is trash and the author never deserves to write again" isn't trash because it's mean (though it IS mean, and unwarranted). It's trash because it literally says nothing. I know nothing more about this book than I did an hour ago. I know more about the reviewer (and the general asshole energy they have) than the thing that they're reviewing.
A review that says "This book does nothing more than tie a bunch of corny tropes together with weak prose and poor grammar that couldn't pass a second grade English class through the lens of cardboard cutout characters with the emotional maturity of Teletubbies" is a FAR more scathing review, but at least it TELLS us something. If I'm the type of reader who actively seeks out the tropiest of stories, I can read this review and gauge that this actually might be an okay read for me because it sounds like this person is mostly frustrated with the elements of this story not being super original, and guess what, that's exactly what I'm looking for! On the other hand, if I HATE tropes or weak grammar, I can probably assume this won't be for me. This review is still eviscerating the novel, but it does so in a way that allows other people to draw conclusions from it.
And guess what, it's also written in a way that allows others to disagree with it! "Oh, you think the characters are emotionally immature? Well, in chapter 12, they discuss the complexities of blah blah..." Now, we can have a discussion among fellow readers and critics, which also leaves room for potential readers to see the discussion and say, "Oh, now I get why they felt that way. Sounds like I would agree. Or maybe sounds like I wouldn't."
The idea that every critique needs to be nice OR mean to a work completely misses the point. Sometimes you love something. Sometimes you hate it. Both of these are fine. The point is that if you're going to try your hand at writing professional (or even semi-professional) critique, you need to understand that critique is *also* its own written art that serves an actual purpose. If you just want to go be snarky on the internet because a book pissed you off, than this isn't about you, but too many people throughout publishing & education seem to think that critique is about people's feelings, and while feelings will always be a part of it (we're human after all), it's not *the point*.
And frankly, reviews are meant to be interpreted just the same as books are. There have been *scathing* reviews that actually convinced me to pick up a book because I knew the reviewer and I clearly had opposite tastes based on what they said made the book suck, and that's exactly how reviews are supposed to work. They're not meant to coddle an author's feelings OR lash out at them for writing something you hated. They're meant to give enough info that other readers can draw conclusions.

1. In the midst of a lengthy ban explanation, the team member who wrote it confessed that there were several times where I broke the rules and they didn't ban me. (The accounts ended up locked for other reasons.) Was that supposed to make you seem merciful? Because hanging on to all that to trot out at the last minute comes off as petty spite to me. THAT'S why I'm leaving for good, not because I'm "out of second chances". Go take your unevenly applied rules and bother someone else.
------------------------------------
2. I wish FR would impliment a thing where you can just ask to have extra accounts closed, without risking your main. That would be nice
Or maybe an, idk, multiaccounter debt system, where all the stuff you've funneled gets given a FR currency value that you then have to pay off before you earn anything new to spend yourself. Probably wouldn't ever happen because it could lead to massive unpayable debts in the case of some things, but it feels unfair that literally any multi activity at any point of your time on the site risks a ban and loss of potential years of progress, even if they barely did anything with the extra accounts at all
Yes I'm aware they let you make a new account after but still. Sucks
------------------------------------
3. very respectfully i wish anybody who made multiple accounts without realizing it was against the rules a very get banned idiot. its right there in tos. literally right there. i dont even care if you were a wee lamb of 13. just read the damn rules!
------------------------------------
4. the fact that you can get banned for something you did 5-7 years ago is fucking stupid. they run such a tight ass ship for a game thats not even in semi-closed beta anymore.

5. for the person asking about reasons for multi-accounting ; i have a dissociative disorder and often forgot my passwords/logins. these often came back recollected over the next few years. i'd log in to an old account, see i had currency, send it over and never touch it again. maybe not a super crazy reason for "multi-ing" if you can even call it that (and personally i dont even consider it funneling) but i imagine there are a lot of cases like this of just genuine forgetfulness.
------------------------------------
6. The multi rules are so ass bc if you ever accidentally break them u might as well double down bc ur getting banned either way
------------------------------------
7. when i was 14 i wanted to get rid of some of my dragons but i was still a little attached so i made another account and just sent the dragons to it and now they sit there......hungry forever.....anyway i lost the password and i only started taking this game seriously like a year ago but now im lowkey scared if i will be found guilty of multi-accounting and sentenced to death :)

‘Blood-Soaked’ Eyes: NASA’s Webb, Hubble Examine Galaxy Pair
The telescope’s MIRI instrument, managed through launch by JPL, helps reveal new features of a galactic near-miss.
Stare deeply at these galaxies. They appear as if blood is pumping through the top of a flesh-free face. The long, ghastly “stare” of their searing eye-like cores shines out into the supreme cosmic darkness.
It’s good fortune that looks can be deceiving.
These galaxies have only grazed one another to date, with the smaller spiral on the left, cataloged as IC 2163, ever so slowly “creeping” behind NGC 2207, the spiral galaxy at right, millions of years ago.
The pair’s macabre colors represent a combination of mid-infrared light from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope with visible and ultraviolet light from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.
Look for potential evidence of their “light scrape” in the shock fronts, where material from the galaxies may have slammed together. These lines represented in brighter red, including the “eyelids,” may cause the appearance of the galaxies’ bulging, vein-like arms.
The galaxies’ first pass may have also distorted their delicately curved arms, pulling out tidal extensions in several places. The diffuse, tiny spiral arms between IC 2163’s core and its far left arm may be an example of this activity. Even more tendrils look like they’re hanging between the galaxies’ cores. Another extension “drifts” off the top of the larger galaxy, forming a thin, semi-transparent arm that practically runs off-screen.
Both galaxies have high star formation rates, like innumerable individual hearts fluttering all across their arms. Each year, the galaxies produce the equivalent of two dozen new stars that are the size of the Sun. Our Milky Way galaxy only forms the equivalent of two or three new Sun-like stars per year. Both galaxies have also hosted seven known supernovae in recent decades, a high number compared to an average of one every 50 years in the Milky Way. Each supernova may have cleared space in their arms, rearranging gas and dust that later cooled, and allowed many new stars to form.
To spot the star-forming “action sequences,” look for the bright blue areas captured by Hubble in ultraviolet light, and pink and white regions detailed mainly by Webb’s mid-infrared data. Larger areas of stars are known as super star clusters. Look for examples of these in the top-most spiral arm that wraps above the larger galaxy and points left. Other bright regions in the galaxies are mini-starbursts — locations where many stars form in quick succession. Additionally, the top and bottom “eyelid” of IC 2163, the smaller galaxy on the left, is filled with newer star formation and burns brightly.
What’s next for these spirals? Over many millions of years, the galaxies may swing by one another repeatedly. It’s possible that their cores and arms will meld, leaving behind completely reshaped arms, and an even brighter, cyclops-like “eye” at the core. Star formation will also slow down once their stores of gas and dust deplete, and the scene will calm.

Can't get the idea out of my head that someone in the werewolf block has a deal with some witch farmer in the state to bring in a truckload of live turkeys around Thanksgiving to sell. Farmer makes a tidy profit by cutting out the middleman and the denizens get fresh meat on the cheap that they have to process themselves (which most of them enjoy anyways as a neighborhood bonding activity).
And Zeke fucking loves it. He gets up super early, goes and buys two of the bastards, gets them all butchered to put in his freezer, and now he's got a lot of meat for relatively cheap. That plus the general festivities makes him a happy boy.
So Caleb, not really knowing what's about to happen, wakes up to Zeke quickly getting dressed, metaphorically vibrating in excitement. He tells Caleb he's going to pick out some turkeys when asked and Caleb, assuming they are frozen, plucked birds, gets up to come with, which just makes Zeke more jazzed. Together, they walk down to the empty lot where a semi has its back opened into a fenced in area and Caleb's stomach drops as he hears the raucous call of hundred of turkeys.
They stop by a stand that's selling some cheap coffee as they get in the short line and Caleb starts asking some tentative questions about what's going on. He's still new to a lot of the ins and outs of being in the werewolf block, especially when it comes to holidays and how they source the food they use for celebrations. Zeke is happy to tell him though, thinking nothing of it and forgetting Caleb has probably never handled a live farm animal, or a whole dead one, or had any thoughts about where his food comes from other than 'the store'.
They get to the front of the line and Zeke asks Caleb to 'pick one out' seeing how he'll make a holiday meal out of of whatever cut Caleb likes best for Thanksgiving. Very quickly, Caleb has to come to terms with a lot in the face of Zeke's excitement and a flock of well raised, white turkeys gobbling at him. So he swallows the discomfort, points out a larger one to Zeke's delight, and they walk away with two probably magically-docile turkeys under Zeke's arms.
He does not join his roommate in the slaughtering/butchering process but the breast he gets on Thanksgiving is the best he's ever had, though that might be due to Zeke's culinary skills more than anything else.

Spectember D18: Ecological engineering
Tumblr media
The semi toxic lands of the planet Pharax are result of its young age of formation as this planet only has existed for nearly 2 billion years, geological records seems to remark that it could have hosted complex life for a while after finding traces of a previous terraforming event for a now extinct civilization 80 million years ago that brough a different variety of what’s supposed to have been their homeworld life, which seems to have failed in their colonization as no trace of advance settlements were found or any organism as complex as a amoeba-like creature for the fauna, but something remarkable is that there is still in existence an unique ecological flora agent that apart to have survived by its own the harsh conditions, it also turned quite successful on thriving at managing the environment it created.
The Chthonic Lichen is the only terrestrial flora organism to exist on the planet and the most prominent organisms, it forms on large fields nearby recently inactive volcanic regions, feasting on the chemicals and grow exponentially covering the soil with a 50 cm deep cap that looks semi crusty, with prominent semicircular shaped structures that correspond often to what is often called the autotropic nodes, large photosynthetic structures  that allows the organism to exploit the sunlight in the middle below there is a second cap formed by tissue that works sort of like a vascular plant, although lacks any cell and it behaves like a fungus spreading and collecting nutrients, and in the edges of the super organism there is the third detoxifying cap, a series of multiple ciliated tissue that properly digest and modify the terrain to be suitable for the other two tissues to grow up. Sometimes growing around lakes the second cap properly just grows around the water body they start isolate them and filter the toxins of it if they are acidic or just filled with impurities, normally more disorganized root like structure forms, which often host potential seeds they deliver when the time comes. Although it seems that the majority of the main colonies of this organisms are cloned multiple times from a single individual they can also wander free in the shape of a motile seed structure that crawls around an stays mostly inactive, these drone seeds often works as detritus feeders that eat the substrate rich on microorganisms to regain energy and then walk to the most lifeless regions of the continent on which would plant itself and start growing a new colony, digesting the toxic grounds and creating new ideal conditions for the mega organism to grow again.
The way the organisms regulates the environment has caused two interesting effects, one which at large scale has regulated the greenhouse gas amount, making it more cooler of what normally the planet temperature would get if it did not have complex flora on its surface and regulated the oxygen amount so it doesn’t poison exaggeratedly the atmosphere; as well when colonies dies or just wash away for any precipitation it provides of a burst of nutrients to the ocean, which for studies on the microorganisms diversity in the regions where these nutrient flow constantly is replenished, the complexity of life is greater than in place which lacks that burst. As geological activity is still too young that for example the first continent have formed just 200 million years ago, so many aspects of the chemistry of the planet are still developing, and probably without the chthonic lichen life conditions similarly to the Ediacaran wouldn’t have risen until probably other 2 billion years, but now this world might see the development of its own native multicellular life evolution in probably 300 million years, which is a lot of time, but for a planetary scale is very, very young.

hi! I like to write whump but the thing is I've never actually been to a hospital myself and the thing I don't know that I can't find an answer on is what happens after you wake up at a hospital? Like if I have a character who passes out before they get rescued and wakes up in a hospital, what's the first thing that happens? Is there going to be a nurse waiting there that explains what they did? After for example a severe injury do they run any further tests now that a patient is awake?
It's actually super rare that someone would pass out in the field and wake up in a hospital bed already tucked in. Most of the time someone will kind of be in and out, then wait in the ED until they're awake before being transferred to a floor. If they don't get conscious enough to go to a floor, they'd go to the ICU, where they may have more of the experience you're talking about. To be unconscious or semi-conscious for that long means there's something wrong, though- really wrong. Something that's probably going to take a long time to recover from.
The most common "wake up" scenario on a floor setting is that the person came into the ED, went to surgery, then recovered from surgery, and was kind of in and out from the anesthesia by the time they got to the floor. It's common not to remember parts of the experience if the brain either was injured in the experience (blow to the head, etc...) or wasn't getting enough oxygen to stay conscious.
We (nurses) answer questions if the patient asks them. If they're on a floor it might be 12-24 hours before a doctor comes to see them, and it's probably not going to be for more than a few mins if nothing is actively going wrong. So it's really up to the patient to ask.
As far as if there are any new tests once the patient is awake, as nurses our assessment changes somewhat because we can ask the patient questions (about pain, etc...), assess their mental status more accurately, and they can (hopefully) tell us things about their condition, meds they take, and medical history to help us care for them better.
Prior to that they've probably done imaging (x-rays, CT scans, etc...) that have given them enough information to do surgery or otherwise to fix whatever the problem is, so it's not like we wait for them to wake up to do anything about the problem- its just a bonus when they can answer our questions.

Put together a graphic of how the third and final year of the Pokemon Best Wishes! anime should have gone had there been no disruption.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important notes about what alterations I’d prefer to see:
- BW100 should end a little differently, as the ending we got felt super rushed and it’d have been better to let the comedy of the whole “wow, literally none of this needed to happen” outcome really sink in.
- Trip would recieve stronger development and better treatment at the Unova League, including the reveal of who his older sister is.
- In BW106, Bianca doesn’t lose to Cameron in the prelim round. She and Cameron have their battle in the same round where Ash and Stephan have theirs. Cameron wins when his Riolu evolves into Lucario and he advances on to face Ash, but this time it only lasts a single episode because he’s rightly disqualified for bringing 5 Pokemon to a 6-on-6 match. Ash advances to face Virgil in the semi-finals but loses to him. Whether or not Virgil then wins the whole Unova League with his Eeveelution team or not, I don’t really care.
- In BW111, Team Rocket is kept away from the twerps when we see they’re back in Unova and we see them catch Frilish and Amoongus. We’d also get a Giovanni and Matori scene alluding to their desire to crush Ash and Pikachu and the recently re-activated Team Plasma.
- BW112 would be the reveal of TR’s new balloon and their first time using their newly caught Pokemon against Ash and friends. When defeated, they fall out of the balloon and into the water below.
- The Aspertia City Gym plot is divided into two episodes, and Cheren actually has a purpose to serve later on down the road.
- Clair would guest star in BW115 and set up Iris’ post-series special. Team Rocket is also featured, battling the twerps and this time fleeing the scene using their jet packs.
- In BW116, Team Rocket fly out of the balloon’s explosion on their jet packs rather than fly into the sky screaming their old catchphrase.
- In BW117, Team Rocket retreats on ther jet packs after their plan has been thwarted rather than make another failed theft attempt.
- The Flower Garden Troupe returns in BW118, it’s Mrs. Chandler’s jewelry that gets stolen by Teaque, and Looker makes a cameo in a call with Tedesco.
- BW119 is Team Plasma’s next appearance and now where we meet Brad/Barret and the grunt squad that’s searching for N. This would be the second appearance of Ghetsis as well.
- BW120 has a Shiny Druddigon caught by Georgia in order to do battle against Iris’ Pokemon, Dragons VS Dragons.
- BW121 now features the finally B-Class Burgundy helping the Striaton triplets protect their Gym.
- BW122 now features a brief cameo from Colress, who Schwartz and Weiss make a call to early on because they’re charged with delivering Pokemon to him for experiments with the Control Device.
- Stephan is now part of BW124 - he was introduced in an episode about Oshawott and its scalchop, so this brings him full circle. Luke is also here filming the tournament since it’s now set at around Poke’ Star Studios in Virbank City. Team Rocket is not included in this version of the story, but N is included.
- Team Rocket is not included in BW125′s version of the story, but N is included. Some illusion N sees makes him flash back to his past.
- In BW126, the Poke’ Pirates are revealed to be Pokemon who were “liberated” from their trainers by Team Plasma, which strikes a chord with N. Team Rocket once again retreats on their jet packs.
- Virgil replaces Alexa in BW128′s version of the story, and N is here. Team Rocket is more capable here and have to be beaten in a true battle, which ends with them getting a “human rockets” style blast-off.
- Colress and Team Plasma return in BW129, and it’s the next time they and Team Rocket clash. We’re also given information about a “Project F” that Ghetsis is having carried out in the east.
- BW130′s version of the story includes N, and Team Rocket once again blasts off using their jet packs.
- Again, N and Team Rocket’s jetpacks are now in the BW131 story.
- N gets lost from the others in BW132, which now explicitly takes place in Mistralton City, and when Pikachu zaps Team Rocket, we’re once again given the “human rockets” style blast-off for them.
- The city featured in BW133 is now (still) Mistralton City.
- The placement of BW135 would put it at July 4, the week before a certain movie featuring a certain Pokemon that’s seen in this very episode would hit theaters. That’s how it was supposed to go.
- BW136 is set in Iccirus City and has Cheren’s earlier presence pay off when he’s visiting and meets Bianca in her final appearance. After helping Bianca decide where she wants to take her life, Cheren reveals old glasses he used to wear and gives them to Bianca, a cute shout out to B2W2. We also get scenes of Team Plasma plotting.
- The White Ruins three-parter gets its ending changed so that in addition to the Charizard VS Reshiram battle we were promised in the opening, Reshiram’s fury after the Control Device is destroyed is not talked down and it flies towards Dragonspiral Tower. This initiates a new two-parter where Team Plasma boards their newly completed flying frigate to try and freeze Reshiram solid in order to re-capture it, Cedric Juniper brings out the Golden Dark Stone that Ash uses to summon Zekrom, Zekrom and Reshiram + Team Plasma and the good guys (w/ Team Rocket) have a big clash the goes from Dragonspiral Tower over the Moor of Iccirus and all the way to near Entralink, and at one point we even get to see Champion Alder as he’s currently apprenticing Trip. It all ends the same, but it would make for a grander and more suitable finale to the Unova Myth Arc.
- Genesect & The Legend Awakened takes place between BW141 and BW142, it’s set in Castelia City, and Mewtwo is the Mewtwo.
- BW142 would have the “leaving Unova” story play out slightly different and would be the last time for Team Rocket’s “human rockets” style blast-off rather than the first time.
- BW143 is now the only time in the entirety of BW where the phrase “Ya na kanji!” or “blasting off again!” is said by Team Rocket. Alexa’s presence is also obviously omitted, and Dr. Zager gets his final appearance giving TR the tools for their big shipjacking scheme.
- BW144 plays out much more like this, with Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket not departing for the Kalos region at the end of it.
Oh sweet Arceus, this would’ve been so much fucking better!
Trainwreck nature of the third and final year aside, Best Wishes is overall a good series. The Myth Arc was fairly good. The White Ruins arc was really good, as was the iterations of N and Team Plasma that were included. The major character arcs and their end points were mostly good. But...it’s all just good. Greatness was tragically denied.

Castlevania Chronicles (Original Mode) Part 1: Another Castlevania 1 Remake
So!
I originally didn’t wanna do this mainly because I had never completed this game until...well earlier today! For reasons that some may already suspect
But you know what? I’ve already covered one Castlevania 1 remake, might as well also do the other, lesser known one!
What we’re looking at here is a game originally released in 1993 for the Sharp X68000, a home computer released exclusively in Japan, which was then later ported internationally on the PS1 with the name Castlevania Chronicles, which featured both the original version of the game and an “arrange” mode which made a couple of alterations such as new designs by Ayami Kojima, remixed music, a couple new graphical effects.......rebalanced difficulty...
So when compared with Super Castlevania IV this is in some ways a much more faithful remake! Many elements from the NES original are kept here, some levels are kept but modified with extra stuff, others are partially original and partially taken from the OG while others are wholly new. The bosses themselves are, again , mostly from the original but have been given makeovers and new ones have been added
Weirdly enough though musically only 2 tracks are kept from the original: Vampire Killer and Spring Yard Zone Wicked Child . All the rest is either new stuff or remixes of past tunes
The first stage is pretty much a 1:1 recreation of stage 1 from the original but already you can begin to spot all the enhancement: this game just looks great across the board with some great spritework and a bunch of neat details: here you can spot some peeping eyes flying outside the windows looking at you and every once in a while the windows will open letting a bat fly in
At a certain point there’s a breakable wall that, in the original, held your first piece of meat.
Here on the other hand it spuns an infinite amount of Flea Men
Ha! Good one developers! Aww man that was some nice foreshadowing trolling!
The second stage starts mixing things up: it’s essentially a recreation of the first half of stage 4 from the original, though the structure is completely redone and has an absolutely bitchin’ tune
The last part when you’re on that tiny platform as the water rises quickly, with the mermen attacking you and the platform getting destroyed bit by bit is to be considered a gatekeeping moment: it’s the first point in the game where you’ll inevitably die.
A lot
If you can’t make it past this point go play something else ‘cause the game is....
well...
you’ll see
The third stage starts as a semi recreation of the second half of the original stage 4 but quickly turns into its own thing. Those things that come out of the trees I believe originate from Haunted Castle, an Arcade reimagining of Castlevania 1.
There are also Mudwomen! With visible and I think jiggling boobs! Someone must’ve been horny in the development team...
The last part is the only section in any Castlevania game to feature ice physics, which initially horrified me....but to be fair they’re not so bad and the section isn’t too long
The boss is...honestly the second easiest in the game besides the Giant Bat
Controls-wise Simon can control his jumps like in Castlevania IV and can whip straight downwards and diagonally downwards...but not upwards in any way, though his whipping speed has been significantly increased
Stairs are back to being every bit as obnoxious as before and subweapons are once again activated by pressing up and attack
So in general it’s like a mixture of the classic controls and those of Super Castlevania IV
Which means that at least this game won’t be as punishing as the NES games right?
....right?
......
.........
..........
