When people talk about sharkboy and lavagirl they always say what a weird movie it was, i wonder if not everyone knows that the movie was basically planned by the directors child (i think it was the director?) and the costumes/designs are all based on said childs drawings. Despite its faults its a genuinely fun movie, and how cool is it that its a young childs vision become a real movie? I think the industry in general would benefit so much from having more of that. after studying and living in another state, you were finally back to your hometown, just to be surprised by your older brother welcoming you back with a small party.

seeing all those familiar faces was such a heartwarming moment, basically all of your friends were there, but there was someone that took all the attention for themselves, your brother’s best friend, seungcheol.

when your eyes met his figure you stopped in your tracks, he was different, but yet the same from when he last saw him. seeing him made you feel all the feelings you thought you didnt feel anymore, made you realize that even after all these years you still like him,

seungcheol saw you and immediately smiled and god, how you loved that gummy smile. “hey there, little one”, he said walking towards you and pulling you into a hug. he didnt change his cologne, the smell of home and comfort filling your nostrils.

“hey, missed me?”, you broke the hug and looked at him with a smile on your face, still mesmerized by his looks, not believing you were finally seeing him in front of you after four years.

“maybe i did… maybe i didnt”, he chuckled, “i did miss you. everytime i walked through a ice cream shop i found me thinking of you.. you still the biggest ice cream lover?”

you chuckled and nodded, remembering all the times you walked through an ice cream shop with him and begged him to go inside and buy an ice cream cone for you. “still the biggest ice cream lover”

the party already ended and your brother was no where to be found, most likely to be with his partner, and you were with seungcheol having a good time in the balcony, watching the view of the city night.

“how was college, little one?”

“it was good. life changing id say”, you looked at him, taking in the sight of him looking intensely at you, like he was scared youd leave and he would forget about you and your face, “but i missed here, cant lie”

he nodded, “i can see you changed”

“oh, really?”

“of course. i can tell you matured by the things you posted on social media and all that, yknow?”

“do you think about the last time we saw each other? about the kiss?” he said placing a strand of your hair behind your ear, “because i think about it all the time”

“i think about it way more than i should”

he smiled and placed his hand on the back of your neck before leaning in closer and kissing you. the kiss was gentle, but yet firm. soon enough seungcheol was wrapping his arms around your waist and you wrapping your arms around his neck.

once he broke the kiss to catch some air he rested his forehead against yours and chuckled, “we should do that more often. actually, maybe you should just be mine”

Ultraman Rising is really good.

There's a couple things in it that sci-fi fan me wishes were developed more, but it's not anything textually signifigant, yknow?

Emotionally it hits super fucking hard. Totally lands on its feet. I spent the whole second half misty eyed because something was cute, heartwarming or tear-jerking.

Visually it's stunning. Stylish character designs, smooth animation, vibrant color. Strong emphasis on contrasts between shadows and lights.

Lots of fun little nods for fans too. Including a sequel tease during the credits. I hope a sequel gets a go ahead, I will be seated.

i can't remember if an interaction ever happens like this, (probably) but imagine Kaladin being as stoic as ever, he's on duty (idk if this is during Words of Radiance or just before Rhythm of War, so he's either in the warcamps or Urithiru probably. If warcamps then its after the chasms. actually yknow what this is both fanfic and random bullshit, i do what i want and say fuck canon)

So he's standing guard like he's supposed to, except Shallan decided that a productive use of her time is to go and bother him. Radiant thinks it's rude and the respect she has for both him and any soldier means she hates this, but Veil is totally in on it.

So she's just pestering him for his entire shift, and he's standing there, not looking at her, completely dead-faced, offering the occasional clipped answer, and generally being incredibly annoyed, but at some point, she says something either humorous, heartwarming, or both, and without really thinking about it, just COMPLETELY UNCONSCIOUSLY, his face breaks into a small little grin. Not a sarcastic one or a bitter one, just a little smile of joy that breaks through his perpetual storm. The moment he realizes, of course, he very quickly hides it, but of course Shallan catches it.

And she just gasps playfully but also genuinely surprised, but she keeps it lighthearted in the hopes she sees it again. "Storms, what was that? Captain Kaladin? Was that a smile from the Captain Kaladin, whose scowl could curdle milk?"

And he glares at her, because he wasn't smiling and he was on duty and frankly, she had been annoying him for ages and he wanted her to shove off. But she grins up at him.

"Oh, come on, Captain, don't make all the troops run off in fear now! You have a lovely smile, it's wonderful!"

And she pokes him in the side, just to get a little twitch and a deeper frown.

"Aw, that usually works on my brothers. Well then. I'll have to figure out something else, won't I?" Her mischievous expression softens a little, and she just tells him, "You really do have a lovely smile. I don't know why you try to hide it." And she just sits down and spends the rest of his shift telling jokes and ridiculing passerby, no longer trying to annoy him, but just there to keep him some company and maybe make him smile again.

And if a grin broke through his stormy facade every once in a while, well then, she wouldn't point it out. She just took a Memory and carried on chattering loudly about axehounds and lavis polyps and how Adolin had worn his shirt backwards and that lady's hat over there looked like a pile of cremlings had eaten too much and died on top of it, hoping that smile might stick.

(Later, Shallan finds Adolin and runs up to him, screaming, "I MADE KALADIN SMILE!" and Adolin's like "WHAT IN THE ALMIGHTY'S GOOD NAME, I DIDN'T KNOW HE KNEW HOW TO DO THAT" and they just freak out about it and generally make fun of him. That night, Kaladin has a dream about Tien and wakes up crying, only to wonder what reminded him of the time Tien had visited him in the clinic for hours on end, talking and keeping him company as he tried and failed to get his stitches as perfect as his father's.)

thinking about Summer and Morty's sibling relationship....

teensy eensy spoilers for the new ep (wet kuat amortican summer)

idk just something about how it was portrayed in the latest episode felt so real. as an older sibling I relate hard to how Summer feels, how she sees Morty get everything seemingly for free. the way she's torn between being a good role model and support structure and feeling bitter because Morty is, quite frankly, a little shit sometimes. the fact that Morty IS a little shit because he thinks SUMMER has it better.

they're both jealous of each other, which is THE MOST older/younger sibling thing ever. Morty being spoiled because he's younger but also not getting the same amount of freedom or respect. Summer having to work a lot harder than Morty for things, but also being treated more like an equal. Obv it's a sci-fi comedy cartoon so these dynamics are stretched and exaggerated, yknow. to fit the fact that these family members murder aliens every other day. but at its core its just two siblings beefing it out over dumb shit.

What is compelling to me personally, as an older sibling who has had this exact argument (well, maybe not this EXACT argument) is the fact that Summer really, REALLY wants to be a good older sister to Morty. but she has to work harder than him, and it's so infinitely frustrating when your younger sibling can't or refuses to recognize that. it's not their fault, they don't have the scope or perspective necessary to fully understand those First Child Issues™, but it's annoying nonetheless. and it's the same the other way, too!! being the younger sibling sucks ass in unique ways.

and Morty has a SHITTON of other issues, with his parents but mostly with Rick (who is the person they're both competing over) that Summer just won't ever understand, because she doesn't have that very specific and very toxic relationship with Rick that Morty does. there's something to be said about the layers upon layers of codependency and abuse that is brought into the mix, complicating everyone's relationships to each other, but I just wanted to focus on specifically Morty and Summer, less their respective relationships with Rick. And I need to stop talking about that, cuz that's a whole other can of worms that I don't wanna get into rn cuz otherwise this post is gonna be 10x longer.

but anyways, what I find truly heartwarming is the way these two manage to come together and connect despite their disagreements. I think the first time it really stood out to me was when Summer wanted to leave in Rixty Minutes. MORTY was the person to go after her and make her stay with the whole "nobody exists on purpose" speech. it was one of the first major uses of that sort of optimistic nihilism/found family theme that this show is known for. Theres also a shitton of smaller examples, but the first one to come to mind is that moment in Morty's Mindblowers where, after Beth chooses Summer— Summer looks to Morty with such concern. Beth just looks sheepish. (i think about that moment a lot). the new episode was basically a sci-fi body horror rendition of the siblings being handcuffed together trope. their bond is honestly probably the strongest healthy relationship in the series.

it was good to see Summer finally relax in her role as "older sibling", because all she really needed was reassurance from Rick that just because he loves her differently doesn't mean he loves her less.

CAKKEEEEE i feel like a lotta ppl are gonna say that the beginning chunk of her episode felt like filler but i really enjoyed seeing her again AND her getting a proper song! it was rlly cute and its also funny that that episode dropped when i LITERALLY have a cake plush coming in the mail today dkdbfkdjd

fionna sleeplessly looking for cake all throughout the city with as heartwarming as it is sad- cake really is one of the only things that gives her joy in her bleak reality- it was also nice seeing more of ellis and marshall as well as gary who was acting just a LITTLE bit sus not sure whats goin on there🤨

i also love that ellis and marshall just fall asleep synced like what😭

one thing i WILL say though is that i wish we saw a few more genderbends that weren’t seen in the first episode, im sure we will later on but yknow-

it was really nice to see that universe’s ICE QUEEN though! oddly enough she feels like the most underrated character of the F&C universe, only having a really prominent role in the first episode and like 2 of the comicsdkdjkdj i just hope we see more of her and her ice cream escapades

i really hope we get to see more of astrid shes rlly cute and the dynamic between her and fionna- first thinking both being fans and then realizing “oh shit its the real fionna” was really fun

ending this little rant off, the end goal being to bring the ice king back is honestly really heartbreaking

simon can’t just live as himself anymore- his identity will forever be in the shadow of the ice king and his insane antics.

however i really hope the show doesn’t just settle on this as the only way things work out. the message “damn you were a lot better when you were self destructive” would be INSANE to ride on so i think they’re building to a compromise that splits the diff- maybe simon learns to be ok with the ice king being his past while making an effort to explore his new world without shutting himself out because its not the way HE wants it to be

TLDR i really liked these episodes and am hyped to see what they do with this series now that the stage has been set for their multiversal adventure

tbh as blase as it sounds; i do what i want.

my fics have always kind of been written for me by me exclusively, the only reason why i put them online is bc sometimes i think "hey someone might like that too!" there's a reason why i put "self-indulgence" in the tags a lot bc it really is, im literally just entertaining myself and invite anyone who's even vaguely interested to come and see too. sometimes people will come and flock together, sometimes not, and thats fine to me. i know i joke a lot about "oh i got a good grade in public approval" or something but honestly? im past that point; my writing is a well-loved hobby of mine and i don't need anyone's attention to find enjoyment in it.

so i guess it has to do a lot with yourself, yknow? im not really sure how to coach self-confidence LMAO if you like your idea, then go for it!! it's your idea!! only you know how your idea pans out. im literally just some guy on the internet sitting in a specific nook and playing with my blorbos as ppl occasionally say hello KJSBKJDB–

-> Loves taking you out on shopping dates whenever he's not busy. Bookstore? Sure, he could always also use a new book. Old record store? Who doesn't like music. Even just walking around while window shopping is so much better with you around. Though you might have to take Elise with you every so often! -> He'll end up going with you to the gym every once in a while, he doesn't always have the time but when he does it's not a bad thing to do. Though sometimes he'll just kinda watch and do barley anything, normally it's because he's still kinda sore or beat up from a past mission -> Your personality types work out pretty well, you being an ENTP and him as a ESTP, showing that you have pretty similar thoughts and feelings about things which makes it a little easier to understand each other! and I'm Always Saying This: let's think about how confident we can be that what's on the verge of happening in the comic is the savoys easily catching up to mordecai trying to scoot along a guy like thrice his size in a squeaky desk chair through a derelict brewery, serafine will noscope gracie, and mordecai will have to agree to Stay Friends With The Savoys Whatever Happens if for the practical purposes alone (as he presumably did when enduring rather than physically fighting his way out of, oh you know, serafine putting a hand-width sigil on his chest with a knife amidst the congregation Zulie Is There like hands together against my nose and mouth Deep Inhale. absolutely beyond belief. happy pride) when otherwise he'd at best be left with the savoys having something to hold over his head without any especial incentive to cash it in on any particular thing, so rather may as well let them use the leverage to press the Affiliation on him, when evidently in offering it in the first place, the savoys aren't that invested in staying affiliated with marigold forever, nor even really anticipating being thus indefinitely. plus, yknow, maybe if mordecai, for the strategic interests of it all, offered up the info that he's trying to figure out what's going on around here re: marigold, because the savoys might like to know too rather than everyone being jerked around & kept in the dark while they're here, mysteries re: atlas / anticipations of breaking ties or forming other connections or no, such that they're at all willing to help / be in on it

Ok, I was gonna be evil and send 🔥 + owen BUT i said i would patiently wait for your official owen rant, so I'm sending 🔥 + the potential for the writers to make buck and maddie 'forgive' their parents and show that they're now a happy family and everything's ok between them <3 (i'm assuming you'd also hate this, but if you happen to like it, feel free to rant about whatever you please lol)

there are many things in the overall. culture of the world (probably more in the western culture tbh) that piss me off to no end. and the idea that toxic families need to Be On Good Terms because they're Family just. rubs me the wrong way on SOOOOO many levels. its just this overarching concept of the nuclear family being The Most Important Thing Ever even when the family is. yknow. messed up.

I love how we get to see ramon diaz try and reconnect with eddie and sort of heal the rifts in their relationship. I love it. I think it's so important to portray the aspect of both sides of a familial relationship genuinely trying to fix things and do better, and it's so heartwarming to see.

but. the key thing in this. is that they have to try. on both sides. it has to be a mutual desire to fix the relationship and compromise and heal. if only one side puts in any effort/makes any sacrifices to heal the relationship, it doesn't work. and I genuinely can't see any situation where the buckley parents would actually put in any effort to fix things because well. *gestures vaguely at them*

could they?? perhaps !! if the writers really want them to reconcile, they will. and well, there was a day when I didn't think eddie and ramon would be able to be on good terms, but look at them now!!! but that said: I would really really love it if the buckleys didn't reconcile. because while it's nice seeing families try and heal, I think it's also important to portray that this doesn't always happen. sometimes the scars run too deep, or one side of the relationship has no intention of changing, or there's so many variables to juggle and it just doesn't work. and sometimes, the hurt outweighs the benefit of healing. and that's really important to show. and so I'm a little wary of the buckley parents coming back because it seems like a trend for Every Toxic Family Relationship to get Magically Fixed even though....some things maybe shouldn't be.

and i don't in any way mean to compare how maddie and buck were fucked over by their parents to how eddie was, because yknow. comparing traumas and all that. and I'm not saying there's a definitive line in any relationship that, once crossed, can't be uncrossed. I believe that even some of the most complicated and messed up relationships can be mended if both sides put in the work required, which is what the diazes have been doing. but like i said, it requires both sides. and we all know how the buckley parents are, and it would also be sooo nice to see maddie (THEE eldest daughter syndrome posterchild) and buck (grew up thinking he was broken and unwanted) realize "hey, fuck them parents" because realistically, i can't see any way of the two sides reconciling without some MAJOR ooc behavior on both sides

Tumblr has been acting wonky :/ - literally. I had to write to staff about my posts not showing up in the tags and all they did was delete it?

I figured since it was taking so long, I might as well just shift to ao3 and my work has been good so far - working on a yandere rin wip and I’m about 2k words in but since Uni and work keeps getting in the way, i can’t finish it as fast. But. Ik for the fact that this’ll be worth the wait cause. You’ll see 😏

As for my works getting flagged down, it is an inconvenience, but with every work that does get flagged down - people on the other side of the screen are just proving the fact that they can’t keep up with my writing or the fact that my content is well received and I get mostly healthy interactions. I was pretty angry with it, but then I just decided to take it to ao3 instead and I had been thinking about this for months. I take that this was a sign that I should do it and not leave it as a plan cause tumblr has turned toxic over a period of time, among authors and readers alike. So why not minimize the trouble for everyone go somewhere better? Ao3 had really good content;

More plot leaning and good story lines with occasional smut, and both sides are really chilled out. Plus another thing that disappoints me about tumblr is that smut sells really fast here and even Twitter links get more likes than actual writing. And after thinking over it for a while - I realized that my writings are more to do with things human along with lust than just purely writing about lust yk? So in short, my work isn’t meant for tumblr. And I’m not a very interactive author either - I don’t reblog much works and neither do I have any author I can personally recommend cause I stopped reading fanfics here about 2 years ago and I don’t even check the tags anymore since then, only to see if my work showed up or not. but anyway- i made my moveout official still gonna answer asks and host events here tho - and talk to anyone about stuff in general

now talking about tokyo rev, super happy about the new season coming out and honestly? this is the fastest i've seen them make it cause JJBA fans- ykw i'm talking about. (yeah i had a whole emo phase before turning into a dark academia/ classic aesthetic gal -) and alot of people are getting into tokyo ghoul - *finished the whole manga collection at the age of 14* As for gym... story time. I was busy lifting weights and this man. he is muscular sure, got bulging biceps and a lean body and yet. he had the audacity to chase me out of my corner in the gym and take it instead to lift his weights. He looked at me dead in the eye and gave me the meanest look possible. I couldn't take him seriously cause... he was shorter than me... *not size shaming i swear but when you look at me like that - i can't take you seriously* Me : I do not care if you're more macho than me, I will throw you across the gym, you tiny tiny man.
