rant thats gonna go all over the place but since it touches briefly on why i dont feel personally vibe w dimtri/dedue and edelgard/hubert PLUS something an anon said to me months ago that ive been mulling on its going under the cut. but overall its more just me talking aloud about the weird relationship people have media having problematic aspects. 

the thing is this website has an incredibly. strange and complicated relationship with the idea of something being problematic. i remember feeling utterly bemused when some anoned me a message thanking me for not calling dimitri/dedue problematic in my post saying why i personally just didnt vibe with the pairing. 

and the thing is. i KNOW the language bro. i can spin you a post that gives a reading of that relationship that makes an argument for problematic aspects in that kind of romantic relationship or even just in the writing choices that were made. i can talk about how i feel extremely uncomfortable with a romantic relationship between those two characters or edelgard/hubert because the devotion these men have to their respective lieges IS examined as something that damages the overall quality of their emotional health because being devoted to a person to that extent DOES THAT TO YOU. and i dont personally feel comfortable with that. 

i can write make an argument for that being a problematic aspect to the pairings but you know what? even if i totally felt that way about them or that that idea was completely true, EVEN IF WE COULD SUPPORT THAT READING THROUGH EVERY LINE IN THE SCRIPT, that tells me nothing about the actual people that enjoy those ships????? 

it’s tells me as much about those people as their favourite idk fruit. 

because i KNOW what that anon was actually saying was “oh thank god you didnt call me a Bad Person for enjoying that ship”

for one, i think people need to make their peace with the fact that literally any piece of media will have problematic aspects to it and can STILL have enjoyable aspects to it or even - yes i know lmao - arististic value. and oftentimes not everyone is even going to agree on how much of either fkshfkjd

jane eyre is one of my favourite books and it’s RIDDEN with underlying racist ideas. or to bring the convo back to the topic we’re familair with: for example, the way sylvains is written has him be misogynystic to women when, by the logic of what the writing is trying to convey (a charater that lashes out against and knowingly hurts people due to deep trust issues)  the guy should be equally distrusting of men, if for different reasons. and yknow what? i didnt even realise this until i saw someone else point it out! i completely didnt even realise that problematic aspect to his writing and yet what does that tell YOU about ME as a person? what can u say with certainty about me, user clouiis on tumblr dot com, when i still honestly enjoy him as a character even WITH that misogynystic writing. 

i KNOW my reaction to those ships is just personal (and not even consistent with how ive felt about darker themes in different media) because hey guess what! i love nbc hannibal and that show has a FAR more mutually destructive and harmful relationship being explored and explicitly talked about in both the characters povs as romantic. so i know myself, i KNOW how i feel about edelgard/hubert and dimitri/dedue is just a personal vibe and even now im not sure why it bothers me so much when something worse doesnt. and yknow what? sometimes it IS just a purely personal reaction, or belies deeper internalised thoughts. idk! i havent unravelled it all yet!

minor detour but even on TOP of my personal interpretation of the pairings, it’s just one reading. it’s the perspective of ONE person and you make effective arguments against my own example! hell ill do it myself! for dimitri/dedue specifically, their supports explicitly tackle and address the power imbalance between them and it’s made very clear by their A support that these characters mutually long for that power imbalance to be dismantled and WONT advance their complicated relationship further UNTIL they can do that. i can make that argument and yet emotionally still feel uncomfortable w it! thats just how it be sometimes!

both that argument and my original one can be supported by the text. thats often just how literary analysis GOES. and youll find there’s weaknesses in BOTH stances i made, perspectives i havent accounted for or even thought of!

its wild how they didnt really delve into the whole ‘war crimes’ thing w/the hunter association lmao. idk if this movie is canon so that might be why....they just brushed over the fact that the HA was like, running concentration camps and murdering entire groups of people. wild 

this movie was fun!! it felt more like hxh than the last movie, which v much felt like a generic anime movie. this one felt more in character. it did fall into typical anime movie tropes sometimes but the characters felt more like themselves here, espec w/the point of the story this seems to be set at 

like gons anger and all that - while it obvs comes from a place of love and kindness, he can get carried away sometimes...i feel like we’re gonna rlly delve into the negative impact of this in the CA arc and i am both so ready and not ready at all 

this movie was hella gay which i appreciate. love the gays

Dodgeball au (its a movie not just a general dodgeball au lmao)

Leckie is a journalist turned gym owner who is so apathetic towards his gym ownership he ends up not collecting memebership fees for like a year and the gym across the street (owned by some gym rat health obsessed asshole idk) goes to buy his gym and leckies ends up in foreclosure. Vera comes in working for the asshole to go through all of leckies paperwork thats been shoved into the closet. Leckie needs $50,000 to get his gym back and the only way to do that is to enter the dodgeball tournament in las vegas where the prize money for first place is ohohohoo $50,000

So the members of leckies gym r a rag tag group of people who are total nerds and weirdos theres hoosier who just falls asleep on the equipment and doesnt actually do anything, theres chuckler whos too tall and gangly to really be any help athletically, runner who is pretty athletic and the only reason he goes to leckies gym is bc its cheaper (theyre all stupid dumbasses which is why theyre a rag tag group and theyre nerdy and strange in their own way) theres also jay de leau whos skittish and nervous and scared of the ball. Sledge whos very not athletic just bc his mom never let him play sports in school. Snafu whos an absolute mad man but doesnt listen to/know the rules so hes not very good in that sense

Theyre absolutely hopeless on the court and cannot play AT ALL theres no communication, coordination, or ability and they win the play offs (the entrance into the actual competition) bc the other team was cheating

Enter gunny haney, who was at his prime during the 40-50s and did an informational video on dodgeball and was a pro dodgeball player. He shows up super old and totally crazy always saying shit that doesnt make sense but he pulls them together to be somewhat a team and teaches them the rules in an abolsutely batshit way. One day, vera shows up to watch them and see how theyre doing or something and she gets the ball and she throws the ball so hard the dummys head flies off (softball she says) leckie begs her to join but shes no its a conflict of interest BUT the asshole shes working for comes onto her at her house and gets her fired so theyll be able to date. She gets pissed obviously, leckie shows up, and the asshole is vanquished. Leckies comes inside and turns out veras just as much of a weirdo nerd as the rest of them so she decides to join their team to see the asshole crash and burn

So they make it to the playoffs and they (somehow) win against all the other crazy and wild teams with strange themes until its them and assholes gym left BUT in a sick twist of irony something falls on haneys head and he dies (i promise this movie is very funny i just shit at explaining things) so the team is feeling TERRIBLE they feel like they have no hope!! Leckie goes to mope in his room and asshole comes in and makes a deal to sell asshole leckies gym for $100,000 dollars so they do that and leckie checks out of the hotel and leaves to go to some casino. Meanwhile the team is like ‘oh my god whats happening wheres leckie we lost haney wtf are we gonna do??’ They have no choice but to forfeit the match

So leckies drinking at the bar and who shows up but athletic superstar andrew haldane (lance armstrongs character) and hes like ‘man i hope this doesnt turn into what you regret most in life’ and basically changes leckies mind SO he goes back obviously and makes it just in time before the official win goes to assholes team. They need a 2/3 vote to get them back in the match which they get so they do the match and everyone eventually gets out until its vera and leckie. Vera takes a hit for leckie and while shes walking off asshole hits her super hard in the head and the whole team gets super pissed and (idk what happens next but) they enter the death match between leckie and asshole and leckie, remembering haneys wackass advice, blindfolds himself and successfully dodges asshole ball, takes his ball, and throws it hard into assholes face thus getting leckies team to win the tournament

Asshole is like ‘haha actually you sold your gym to me last night so!! You suck i win youre all losers’ but it turns out leckie went and bet on his own team to win the tournament so they actually get $5,000,000 and he takes assholes place as owner of his gym and through that, he fires asshole and gets his gym back bc technically, as owner of assholes gym who just bought leckies gym, he would own his gym again.

Hes obviously in love w vera but her gf (stella) shows up all ‘oh i wouldnt miss this for the world’ and they kiss and leckies all ‘shit’ but vera turns around and is like ‘im in love w u too’ and she kisses him and the team ends happily ever after as a new and improved gym

as we head into this (american) thanksgiving, a lot of us are gonna be dealing with some Grade A Bullshit: retail work, bigoted relatives, etc. i wasn’t actually gonna do this originally, but then i realized what holiday was coming up right around the time of my blogiversary and i was like... welp. alright. guess we’re doing this then. things lined up too perfectly NOT to, and things can be kinda shitty for people around this time of year, so let’s put a little positivity back into the community! or something like that.

@nullverum​ boss was like one of the first ndrv3 blogs i interacted with long before the game had its official english release. i remember i made a post a while before saying that i thought ouma/nami would be a strange but cute brotp and hell! i was absolutely right in every way. its even funnier upon finding out ou/ma kind of plays the na/nami role just as much as the ko/maeda role in actuality (he’s gotta do both since a CERTAIN SOMEONE gets fridged at the beginning), so they’re surprisingly good (bad, actually) for each other.

Kyle still cant utter a word as he crawls over to the pond and looks at his reflection in the calm clear water and notices something His face is starting to change going from a square shape into more a triangle shape, his teeth slowly changes as two small fangs protrude out from the top of his jaw His eyes turns bigger and his iris changes color from brown to orange and his pupil changes from round to a straight line going upwards instead Kyle just keeps on looking in shock as his face keeps on changing turning more and more feminine with each passing second ''N-n..no...'' Kyle stammers and closes his eyes and splashes some water onto his face ...''..dont...dont...'' Kyle tries to speak as the burning sensation inside his body returns in full force He opens his eyes and writhes around the ground in pain as he can feel something on the top of his head ''Ahhh!!!'' he screams in pain as the pain slowly goes away ''F-Finally...'' ''W...wait...my voice ?'' He says as he notices his voice is...well, clearly its not his voice...its the voice of a girl instead Kyle slowly opens his eyes back up and looks at his reflection in the water again and notices his short black hair has not turned long and red set up in a high ponytail ''....what...?'' Kyle speaks in a soft scared and confused tone as some fabric starts to wrap around his chest and waist slowly turning into some kind of kimono to the best of his knowledge with his cleavage severely exposed ''N-no...this is not real!'' he starts to cry violently and curls up and cries into his arms ''This isn't real...this cant be real!!!'' he screams and sobs loudly Kyle keeps sobbing as he hears something ''H-Hello ?'' a voice says as Kyle looks over where the voice came from a woman with blonde hair, wearing a skirt and a top looks at him ''M-Maya....?'' Kyle not sure what to think about it just shrugs ''Well i cant call you Kyle...its kinda weird now isnt it ?'' she giggles again ''I...I guess'' Kyle or Kylie now says Kylie smiles at her as he slowly wraps his tail around her ''...if i got you Maya..i can deal with this'' ''I know you can Kylie, and you know i love you'' They both look into each others eyes as they slowly embrace in a loving kiss After its done they just keep looking at each other as Maya strokes a finger across Kylie's cheek They say nothing and just keep smiling and occasionaly kissing each other ''But..what will others think...?'' ''I dont know but...if this happened to you, maybe it has to someone else as well but..if you're brave enough Kylie...just accept it, it might be temporary or permanent, we dont know'' Kylie looks at her then up at the sky ''maybe....and i will Maya'' They both smile as maya gets of him and giggles ''Then let me sit on your tail as you take me home then i want to cuddle up in your soft cuddly tail!'' Kylie smiles and nods at her as she sits down and kylie starts to slither out of the park, but confusingly enough, no one is really staring at them ''No one is looking?'' ''Huh...maybe...i dont know...'' They both shrug as kylie manages to get Maya home They both get inside as Maya starts to move some furniture around and makes some space in the living room as Kylie tries to make his tail as comfy as possible as Maya walks over and sits down then cuddles up against kylie's chest ''So comfy...'' she yawns ''Tired ?'' Kylie asks ''Mhm...sorry...'' ''Its fine...im tired as well'' They both smile and kiss each other as they both drift into deep sleep Time passes and goes by as usual but Kylie never changed back into a human or a man for that sake... Slowly getting used to being a Lamia, Kylie and Maya did end up together as a couple not shortly after the event that happened and as far as we know, they still are.
