i have an epic headcanon that they like got together after graduation

ooo i love that! 

Ok so KC comes back after Adam dies and at first he has no interest in dating anyone. he just missed his friends. he starts hanging out with clare, and joins student council. he’s always hated eli, because in his mind he isn’t good enough for her. nor was jake who he found out dumped her at prom. he finds out about the cancer and starts to get protective, even though she’s fine. they start to a lot together, and in student council whenever clare and drew butt heads, kc always takes clare’s side. when he hears that eli cheated, he’s about ready to bust in eli’s knee caps, only to realize that holy crap he’s crushing on clare again. but she kissed drew and then went back to eli and it was just a mess. he takes clare’s side after clew hooks up. when clare goes and almost gets back together with eli, he decides to tell her how he feels,but finds out she wants eli back. 

he finds out she’s pregnant and is there for her, even after the whole drew not the father but eli but eli being a dick. as much as he hates eli, he feels clare’s kid should know its father (in his mind no one can be worse than his father) after clare looses the kid, kc helps her through it. then alli and jenna notice how attentive at school kc has been, and calls him out on it. he says he already had his chance and he blew it. when clare can’t decide between following eli and following her heart, kc tells clare about his plans to travel cross country, even across the usa, and also kc tells her that he is in love with her. that he has been since they were freshman and he messed up. she asks why he would say this, confusing her more, he tells her so she knows that she doesn’t have to settle for eli. even if she doesn’t want kc, she doesn’t have to go back to the asshat who broke her heart over and over and over again. finally he says she’s always welcome to join him, anytime. 

clare goes to prom with eli but decides she can’t just blindly follow. ofc eli doesn’t take it well, and they break up. hen he wants to get back together but she says, she needs time to herself. the next day she shows up, bag in hand at kc’s (he has a van ok? only thing that makes sense) van and says “this doesn’t mean anything, i just wanna see the world” she says seriously. he nodded and they get in the van, but exchange a loving and suggestive look.
