FINALLY getting to watch the boy and the heron for the first time after fucking ages of it being out, and I am pleased to find that it follows the pattern of every other fantasy ghibli movie, that being that I have no fucking clue what’s happening at any point of the entire film <33

#genuinely I think the only fantasy ghibli movie that’s simple to understand on a first watch is Kiki’s delivery service 😭#the rest of them are just absolutely bamboozling upon a first viewing #to be very clear I do NOT find this to be a fault. quite the opposite in fact #I think we need more bamboozling animated fantasy movies #just weirdass bizarre freak movies. worldbuilding that is never explained at any point in time #its great and I’m too busy going ‘ooooo aaaaaa’ at the pretty animation to care #studio ghibli
