[this is a vent ignore me if u want] aaaaaagh im so tired of badguy!ivan man, good god. pretty much every nation has done horrific shit but for some reason he is crucified for his past while others are not? i mean, nazi fucking germany is glossed over, us imperialism is not acknowledged at ALL, but ussr is painted as some demonic world-destroying force. asdfdsj i know i shouldnt take this so seriously but, its obnoxious! so hard to find good rusame that isnt dubcon, heavily biased or OOC!

Yeaaah. For hetalia I think it’s thanks to himaruya’s tendency to show Ivan’s “bully” traits towards Baltics and his “snapped kolkolkol” personality when he’s mad. Like, I think he’s the character that’s often shown to have “evil” aura and imo that plays a part in making most hetalian to turn to Ivan when they wanna make a villain for their fanworks.

And..for irl I think the western media also plays big part in making us think that “Russia is an evil nation” with the many games and movies about villain communists, and..ofc many negative news about current Russia’s leader. 

That’s why, tbh, I think one requirement for RusAme fans to stay long in this fandom is that they need to have some sort of attraction or affection first towards Ivan Braginsky / the russian nation itself. Else, they will sooner or later divert to other America pairing / other fandom because they begin to think Ivan is not “good enough” for Alfred because of the “Bad guy” stigma they have for Ivan or Russia. That’s just my opinion though.

Also, I think for recent fics I have found many fics I dig since now it’s easier to find “no bad guy Ivan” rusame fics if compared to early RusAme fandom which often made Ivan as a “villain”. Idk what you meant “heavily biased” or “OOC” here, but maybe you could check fanfics that I dig by browsing tag “i love this” in this blog and just pick any fanfics / fic recs post I posted here http://aph-fedya.tumblr.com/tagged/i%20love%20this. 

Like it’s because RusAme is a versatile pairing, I know sometimes people could be very selective when trying to find fanfics they really dig (for example some people only dig RA or AR strictly in that order, some only dig when they bicker but not so much romantic or anything sexual etc), but maybe you could find some fics you can dig in that link I gave you above.

Phew, somehow this got long. Thanks for giving me chance to rant about this also, haha.
