kobd: the wildbreak theory

So, let it be known Mercy loves this piece of shit show - only for the Stunticons and specifically Wildbreak 

He’s my favorite character ever, only because every time i see him i go: “omg same” 

HOWEVER, the Wildbreak appreciation post comes later - I got some damning proof this fucker is a KOBD child.

This is fucking long. And only me being obsessed would produce this masteriece.

Buckle up BUCKAROOS- 

So, to begin. 

The famous fan theory in Transformers is that Wildbreak is the love child of Breakdown and Knockout from TFP. 

It’s so popular that everytime you see domestic KOBD art, there’s a good chance a tiny little Wildbreak is in there. 

Usually comes from the fact that TF:RID 2015 is a sequel series to TFP, as well as Wildbreak has an image likened to both of them. He is a Stunticon like Breakdown, but has similarities to Knockout. blah blah, someone already made a shorter post that explains the appearance factor- 

HOWEVER MORE EVIDENCE- I have it. 

Let’s talk about Wildbreak’s Weapon. 

Cutie pie does not get a lot of screen time, in fact, all he gets is five episodes he appears in and one dedicated to him and Dragstrip mainly.

So this episode is all we get of him + Dragstrip + Dragbreak 

In the ep, Dragstrip and Wildbreak stole Windblade’s weapon stash and are being chased down by Bee and the gang. They only get one fight scene and its as Dragbreak [Wildbreak/Dragstrip combined]. 

So when I saw that Dragbreak had a weapon in the form of a HAMMER ON A STICK - I thought huh, sounds too good to be true.

Because isnt it funny that KOBD weapon combo would be a hammer on a stick. 

Let’s assess. aka let mercy ramble at 2am

At first im like, that couldn’t be KO’s weapon [”a shock stick”] cause his is notorious shaped like a “trident” and its extendable.

[lol it has to be the toy model cause TFP’S LIGHTING IS SO DARK I CANT GET A GOOD SCREENSHOT OF IT] 

Until....

I sped it down by 0.25 and i see it transform into this

my ass lifted from the seat AS I WAS LOOKING AT A HAMMER AND A TRIDENT STAFF- THAT IS EXTENDABLE-

AND ITS CONFIRMED TO BE WILDBREAK’S WEAPON BECAUSE

this is Dragstrip’s weapon

its even seen with DRAGBREAK- 

AND NOTHING ABOUT IT CHANGED! IT DIDNT BECOME ANYTHING DIFFERENT or combo with Wildbreaks- ITS JUST DRAGSTRIPS GUN

Which meannnsssss THIS NEVER BEFORE SEEN, HAMMER ON A TRIDENT STAFF HAS TO BE WILDBREAKS. 

I even looked into the older G1 Stunticons for further reference and saw that all Stunticons had guns p much, especially Dragstrip. And I looked at G1 Wildrider and Breakdown since thats where Wildbreak’s namesake came from and...they both have guns. No hammer or staff. Which means- 

The inspo for a Hammer and Staff sounds like it came from ~~

Hello everyone, welcome to half way point where Mercy acknowledges that she’s lost her fucking mind and cant stop the conspiracy theories on her fav character from a show no one watched. 

However I just like to say as a funny side note, that Wildbreak is voiced by Kakashi and Dragstrip is Brain from Pinkie & the Brain. 

Literally looking at the voice cast list for EVERYONE in this show and you’ll realize where the budget actually went. CAUSE IT WASNT TO THE WRITERS-

At first I got a wee bit scared cause Im thinking- wait, the whole episode was about them finding Windblade’s weapons stash...maybe these were Windblades weapons???

But after closer inspection:

nope. 

In fact, Wildbreak is so cute and helpful, he did a 180 for me to see front and back. uwu 

Even Dragstrip doesnt have any that resemble his gun or retractable hammer.

And for a show that loves reusing models for everything-

Why wouldn’t they reuse the weapon models?? ...unless they were specifically suppose to be weapons for Dragstrip and Wildbreak~

Also I was looking to see if their toys came with any weapons and- 

they dont 

but its so funny cause now Wildbreak is the one on top LOL DSAKLFJASLD

Haaaaa, guess they are both switches--- [this isnt canon. there’s no way Wildbreak is a switch.]

Well then it comes down to if they had their weapons on them at all during the show outside of this scene then its a done deal. 

Nope. They just come out of thin air. Thanks show. 

But Mercy- doesn’t Knockout’s staff have a “shock” ability? 

Well im glad you said that mercy, cause this fucking happens

Wildbreak’s gift from his dads doesnt exist anymore. bb sad. 

anyways thats my talk on confirmation that KOBD had a lil bb named Wildbreak and he got a combo weapon from them-

A fluffy tidbit for you today, yes? Yes. I subscribe to the HC that since Jan has all those extra arms he is especially good at weaving/crocheting. He also seems the type to show how he feels more through actions than words. So imagine that, in an effort to show that he is supportive of Vee's regression and Ro's age dreaming, he makes the boys things such as soft toys or baby blankets (big boys can have baby blankets too, you are never too old for a blanket, Roman!) 🤍

i forgot about his arms!!!!

EDIT: i decided against having janus with six arms in this au!! he only has two arms!

oh my gosh oh my gosh yes! white heart anon this is v v clever

you are right, janus' love language i think would be giftgiving (and for receiving i think he would say its acts of service but secretly its physical touch) so he very much shows his love with little presents rather than words and !!

oh oh and he will give litte gifts like he got remus a keychain that looked like a rat's tail just because he saw it and thought he would like it and thats his casual way of saying he likes you

but you know you're really In There with his affection when he handmakes something for you!!

i am really soft for the idea that janus is a crafter oh my gosh

here are some things my brain did

it will take him a while to make people stuff!! he is not comfy sharing that much of himself with ppl for a long time

but eventually..

janus knitting molly weasley style jumpers for everyone for the first christmas that he has been accepted as part of the family.. my heart

this works perfectly for the puppet show! i can't elaborate because spoilers shhh

but i can also imagine janus is just so extra and fancy he doesnt make your typical crafts that you would expect him to make like scarves and stuff

okay so basically him and patton have afternoon tea sometimes which im gonna write more about in the sequel to labd

so.. janus crocheting little tea cosies :0 oh my gosh oh my gosh okay okays i nedd to lie down

for those of u who are unaware of what that is

he makes this bee one after finding out how much the boys like winnie the pooh..

so one day he shows up to afternoon tea with this masteriece and patton is of course SO excited and puts it on the teapot straight away

and as janus had hoped, when roman passes through the dining room he's like :o !!!!!! thats pretty!!! where u get that!!

and janus is rlly shy about wanting to look after the boys actually but this is his sneaky (snakey haha) plan ! and he mentions that he made it and roman is >:O !!!!!!!!! WOW!

then the MASTERPLAN janus offers to teach roman how to do it and they bond together!!! okay

i dont have more to say bc ive just realised i might want to write it so im saving it ahh

and yes imagine he actually knows that vee doesnt like the feel of knit/crochet wool ! so while he crochets roman a blanket with little roses around the edge

he embroiders a fluffy baby blankie for virgil and around the edges are littol bunnies jumping along the hems :((( thats so soft

and vee loves running his fingertips over the embroidery thread and it becomes his favourite comfort blankie!!

To Steal or To Borrow?

In doing a little research for this post, the origin of the quote I wanted to start with is in question. It’s often attributed to Pablo Picasso but similar versions were apparently uttered by Igor Stravinsky and maybe even Steve Jobs. It goes like this and you’ve probably already heard a version of it:

Lesser artists borrow; great artists steal.

I’m going to try and explain my interpretation because I think it’s worth sorting out. As a borrower of anything, there’s an implied return of the borrowed back to the owner and is never actually owned. Stealing on the other hand, is the taking of something from someone else and claiming that it is now theirs.

How does one borrow as an artist versus steal? I’ve spent my whole life creating in a number of disciplines and there’s a somewhat universal development to all of them. When I look back at my childhood and adolescence obsessing over comics I know I spent a great deal of time trying to draw like whatever artist I was fawning over at the time. Sometimes I’d come close to making a drawing that passed muster to my uneducated eye and I could convince myself that I did it! It’s really thrilling after lots of sketching, drawing, stumbling and falling on your face to hit gold and make something that validates your efforts up to now and looks like your artistic heroes. To see what you admire and love in other artists reflected back to you in your own creation is a big moment in any artists development. You made it…but did you really make it? If it looks like another artists work as to be confusing, have you created an original of your own or have you borrowed the look of another?

Art is ultimately an intellectual endeavor even when it’s in a purely visual medium. The art that you create and proclaim a masteriece is the accumulation of a series of decisons/reactions to steps in its creation. If you leave a pencil line with the hope that after enough of them, you’ll have Conan, then it is in your mind where you decide whether or not that line fits in your plan. Do I keep it or do I erase? The drawing you end up with is the result of deciding there’s no more to be done. So after an aspiring artist comes closer and closer to their influential artists more consistently, the blush of matching your master starts to be less exciting. At least it should.

This is the crossroads. Are you going to be satisfied standing in the shadow of another artist? Does the work the work of the master validate the work of the junior artist? In my history of drawing, I’ve gone through this dilemma many times. Probably any time you’re exposed to the work of an artist that changes your assumptions, it’s normal to grapple with it creatively. That’s the process of influence.

Eventually paying attention to the decisions you make creating art over and over, you’ll learn about yourself. The decisions you make in your art reflect your unique perspective and experiences. Your job as an artist is to be true to that. The artists you emulate, you’ll soon realize, have undergone similar transformations of processing influence not into perfect recreations of past work but into something new. If they had emulated their creators, you’d not be mimicking them, you’d be drawing from the work of their original. So that’s the difficult responsibility of theft it’s that you have to take it and make it speak in your voice.

It’s a responsibility of the artist to have the courage to stand on your own out from the shadow of another. If you’re repeating what’s already been said, you’re saying NOTHING.
