Human!2x5 getting married HCs
very long.
for age reference, Edward's in his early 40s while James is in his mid-30s (8yr age difference). takes place in future modern day (2030s)
for the ceremony, they wear suits. Edward's is cream white with cerulean and navy accents. James' is like a VERY dark, almost black, navy with red and pink accents.
its a small (as they could get it to be) outdoor spring wedding.
They have matrons of honor AND best person. Edward's maid of Honor is Emily and his best men is BoCo and Duck. James' maid of Honor is Jasmine and he has two best men, Donald and Douglas.
Edward's party consists of all his sisters. that's it lul
James' party consists of Gordon, Henry, and Rosie. it's pretty small lul
ok so- they both walk down the aisles. its a different layout. one walks in from one side while the other walks in from the other, meeting at the center
originally, Edward was a little embarrassed by the idea, but he arrives at his aisle on Callum, his (2nd) Clydesdale horse. It was James' idea. That's why its outdoors HEHE
"what's their wedding so-" THIS
(piano for James and violin for Edward)
Edward cut off contact with his parents after they kicked him out so his twin sisters are the ones walking him down the isle.
Doesn't really have a dad (Emily's parents divorced shortly after he was adopted) so Mama Sterling walks him down the aisle, along with Jasmine <33
THE RING BEARERS ARE JACQUELINE AND THOMAS WITH THE (SOON TO BE) FAMILY CAT, SOPHIE 💥
For the wedding reception, they basically swap color schemes, wearing each other's colors ✨ they wear weddings veils covered in flowers designated (so Ed's are for himself and the same goes for James), but both have white roses. (i wanna design these and their ceremony suits someday 👉👈)
Both floral schemes share daisies (loyal love).
Edward's floral scheme is chamomile (patience) and delphinium (big-heartedness + ardent attachment).
James' floral scheme is amaryllis (splendid beauty, pride, worth beyond beauty) and gladiolus (strength of character, faithfulness, and honor).
newlyweds' first dance was this. a fast paced dance to get them going for the night 💃💃 this was one where others were allowed to join in.
The playlist is a mix of 1970s-2000s and jazz. The jazz was for some of the elderly folk (and James, my beloved jazz enjoyer).
slow dances were occasionally thrown in so they could rest. Edward's leg injury from years ago got the best of him in recent years so now he has a cane. helpful when his injury starts to tire him out. speaking of which, it was decorated for the occasion, covered in vines (made of wire) and fake flowers
since the parent situation is mixed with both of them, its more like a group dance. Edward dances with his sisters while James dances with his family, adopted and bio. (Emily, Mama Sterling, Donald, Douglas, and Jasmine.) the more elegant of all the dances that night
then comes in the "father-child" dances. (try not to cry challenge: impossible)
it was chaotic. they were playing something from like the 1990s to 2000s. probably fucking Backstreet Boys or something, idk but that's the idea.
father-child(ren) dance took them out for a bit. they were also wearing heels. low heels but still enough.
both kept laughing as they tried to feed each other cake so they smudge some of it on each other.
the photographs are like those photos in dark places and the only lighting you get is from the camera's flash. it was all Polaroids, btw. James and Edward would later scrapbook them <3
the speechs were held for the end as that's when the energy is low and there would be less interruptions, considering who was present (a bunch of loud teens LMAO)
everyone cried and laughed at least once.
donald and douglas was pretty cheesy. teased James for a bit but ended it with a loving note about how happy they are their little adopted brother. Had james in tears.
Jasmine followed right after. she was happy to have been able to reconnect with her younger brother after decades of being separated
Jacqueline's really was the kicker for him though. (TLDR: these two have been attached ever since James adopted her after watching her during a foster care program. she was around 7 when adopted, an age that most people would avoid when adopting.)
Henry and Gordon's was similar (context: they met in HS at music competitions. Henry is Gordon's half-brother, attending the same school. James attended their rival school and the rest is history). Teased him but ended on an unusual heartfelt note.
Edward did not escape the flood of tears. His adopted kids, Thomas, Percy, and Nia, did their speech together, followed by his sisters, BoCo, and Duck. was a crying mess (in a good way) from the start.
Emily ends the speeches by telling how they all met, and the "everyone but you two knew that you crushed on each other" story of those two from her perspective. had everyone laughing, including those two.
James was the one to throw the bouquet but like tradition, both he and Edward didn't look over to who it was. he might've accidentally smacked Gordon with it, who was dating Rebecca at the time. BOY did James and Edward have a field day over that HAHA-!
once its over, they clean up and go home, both of them taking Callum back to McColls (that's where Callum is homed since Ed and Jim live in apartments. planning to move out into a house in Wellsworth tho). they planned their honeymoon to be a few days later so they could rest from the thrilling but exhausting day they had. they emotionally (/pos) and physically tuckered out from the event haha-
knocked the fuck out once they got home, crashing onto the sofa.
and now they're husbands <33

Todays rip: 30/04/2024
guess what????????
Season 2 Featured on: Haltmann's Highest Quality Video Game Rips
Ripped by alden wolf
youtube
Requested by eg_9371! (Request Form)
It's Gonna Be May!
Saying that SiIvaGunner has in-jokes is perhaps the most obvious statement of all time - it is an in-joke upon which the entire channel is built upon. Yet there's obviously always different LAYERS to each joke, how obvious each of them are - and even today, there are many running gags on the channel that fly over people's heads despite having followed along for so long. Indeed, such is the case today with guess what????????, as requestee eg_9371 made me aware of a channel in-joke that's been running quietly in the background for the better part of seven years as of today. All of it built on one simple truth - tomorrow, it's gonna be may.
To reiterate - beyond the funny ha-ha memes we all know like Mr. Grand Dad and more, the SiIvaGunner channel is filled with little nods and gags that oft go overlooked. I of course covered 5 Nights of Snop Dog recently which is a great example of one, there's how rips like Kill & Learn (Recut Ver.) reference a running joke by long-time mashup artist Triple-Q about how Sonic Adventure 2 and Kill la Kill have an immeasurable amount of similarities, rips like Kermit in the Ocean being spiritual successors to very specific years-old rips on the channel - you get the jist. Some of these gags eventually get special attention on the channel through specific channel events, but such has not yet been the case with guess what????????'s joke - it's a gag that's stayed in the background since its very beginnings, and is only being kept running by a select few rippers. If you're listening to the rip now and it still hasn't landed yet, you may need to be enlightened to the ways of hit boy band *NSYNC. Or, well, really the band itself matters very little compared to the song of choice - It's Gonna Be Me.
Boy band music has a pretty interesting track record on SiIva in general, honestly. One Direction, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, *NSYNC - to me the typical audience that obsesses over these kinds of bands feels at odds with my image of the average SiIvaGunner fan, and yet whenever they're prominently pushed I get reminded of just how good their music can be when wielded by good rippers. We've had two explosively quality events focusing on two bands in particular, the Big Time Rush takeover of Season 5 with Famous Surprise and the One Direction day of Season 7 with Beautiful Dreamer. *NSYNC hasn't had the same explosion of notoriety, but It's Gonna Be Me in particular has stealthily appeared on the channel every year since 2017 on April 30th. The joke is originally an ancient Tumblr meme from 2012, based on the way singer Justin Timberlake (yes!) pronounces the titular line in the song as "It's gonna be May" - the joke writes itself, and so Tumblr users have annually celebrated the day-before-May in Timberlake's honor.
eg_9371 writes in his request for this post that he's actually one of the most active rippers in keeping this joke going on SiIva for all these years, which I find extremely commendable, and it all started in Season 2, with guess what????????. It's a rearrangement of the song in the style of Donkey Kong Country 2's Mining Melancholy, a track most notable for its rhythmic percussion of steel drums sounding like steadily-working pickaxes deep in the mines. Its a fantastic track on its own, yet that percussion especially is a shockingly natural fit for the harpsichord(?) backing prominent throughout It's Gonna Be Me. Mining Melancholy's usual percussion and other parts of its melody stick around for large parts of the rip, making it more of a melody swap/mashup of the two than a full rearrangement a la Sog-Gee Ambiance - but it only serves to enhance the two tracks used, giving It's Gonna Be Me a more melancholic sound and Mining Melancholy a more self-assured feel in return, a super interesting blend of moods. I don't think the It's gonna be May bit would have worked nearly as well if the rip it was paired with wasn't of high quality, and guess what???????? clears that threshold effortlessly - its a great rip that's made me appreciate the quality in both songs used.
*NSYNC rips have, again, continued to show up in all the years since, always on the dot, often even deliberately placed as the LAST rip of April 30th to drive the joke home. I think it's really sweet that the joke has stuck with eg_9371 in particular, likely in part due to alden wolf's initial contribution to the bit - he's even made It's Gonna Be Me rips on dates completely unrelated to the beginning of May, just because its a genuinely fun song to listen to. There's tons of these "secret" gags left to find on the channel, reoccurring dates or rips that reference jokes from other rips that are years-old by now - and really, a huge part of the fun in running this blog is getting to discover so many turning gears of the channel that I'd never been made aware of. Keep an eye out for these gags yourself - and keep an eye out on SiIvaGunner channel itself later today, to see if It's Gonna Be May for yet one more year.

Song- The Feels by Twice
Pairing- Ted Lasso x gn!reader
Warning(s)- None
Wordcount- 1,146
Summary- Ted has developed a love for K-pop and maybe the team's social media coordinator...
It’s notorious that Ted Lasso is a man of culture. From constant references from movies from the eighties to debating which Julie Andrews movie is the best. Hell, the man even referenced NSYNC’s hit song Bye Bye Bye to the team and even taught them the dance. Even though he’s a man of culture, there’s some things he doesn’t understand. Like TikTok for example and the trends it causes.
Y/N on the other hand, knows all of the trends. I mean they have to, they’re the social media coordinator for AFC Richmond. They have to be on all of the trends that are happening in the world. Running all of the social media accounts for the team, the TikTok account has been more successful when it comes to fan interaction. From the weekly q&as that the team members do to the dance trends that Y/N makes them do, it always went viral. The video will get over a million views with hundreds of thousands of likes and comments.
The Feels by TWICE blasted throughout their headphones as they danced to the music. They mouthed the words to the song as they tried to memorize the choreography so they could teach the team the dance. This was the plan for the next TikTok video.
“What are you doing?” Y/N let out a yelp as they saw Ted standing in their office.
“Learning the choreography for the next dance video,” Y/N blushed from embarrassment as they put their headphones away.
“Oh what’s the song? A little NSYNC? Backstreet Boys?” He questioned.
“No, k-pop,” they replied.
“K-pop,” the manager questioned.
“Yeah, k-pop,” Y/N nodded their heads. “Korean pop music basically.”
“Is it good?”
“Yeah, have a listen.”
Y/N gave Ted their headphones and Ted put them on. Y/N started to play the song and watched Ted’s reaction. A little giggle came out of Y/N’s mouth when they saw the little dances Ted was doing.
“It is a fun song.” Ted handed Y/N back their headphones.
“And the dance is fun.” Y/N put their headphones away. “Now, let's teach the boys this.”
Walking out of Y/N’s office, the two conversed with each other on how practice was and their weekends. There might’ve been some subtle flirting with each other as they walked the halls. Walking into the field, they saw Coach Beard and Roy standing in there while talking to each other.
“Hey fellas,” Ted greeted the two as they joined them.
“TikTok time?” Beard asked.
“Yep,” Ted and Y/N answered at the same time.
“Alright.” Beard nodded his head and he blew his whistle.
Ted called everyone over and told them what was going to happen. Ted soon gave Y/N the stage and they started to explain what the video was going to be. Some of the players were enjoying the idea while some others weren’t really vibing with it but they’re team players. After describing what the TikTok would be, the players made space while Y/N connected their phone to the speaker and started to teach them the dance without music first.
While Y/N were teaching them the dance, the coaches were enjoying what was happening. Especially Ted, he admired the enjoyment Y/N had on their faces. He also found it cute that when they laugh at the hiccups that would happen, their nose would scrunch up all cutely. Ever since Y/N was hired a few months ago, Ted still was finding the courage to ask them out despite the flirty banter.
“Alright,” Y/N clapped their hands together. “All of you are doing it alone without my help.”
Y/N joined the coaches and the song played throughout the speaker. The first try was kind of alright. I mean everyone got the steps down but they needed to be in sync with the beat. The second try everyone was in beat but Y/N had to slow down the song. Putting the song back to its regular tempo, the team got a hang of it. Doing a few more tries, Y/N set up the camera and started recording.
The coaches, mostly Roy, were trying not to laugh as they watched the team. Laughing from enjoyment just to clarify. Well, Roy was laughing at Jamie most of the time. Ted and Y/N were dancing along to the music a little but most were focused on the team.
“Alright, it is done!” Y/N announced after the last take.
The team cheered and Y/N thanked them before heading back to their office. Before leaving the pitch, Ted and Y/N shared a smile which everyone seemed to notice.
-------
With the sun setting, Y/N looked out of their window to see the pitch empty and looked back at their laptop screen. They already finished editing the video they recorded earlier and some other ones. They premade some Instagram posts to post later and double checked if they needed to do anything else. Seeing that they didn’t need to, they packed up their things before leaving their office.
Walking through the hallways, they said goodbye to Rebecca and Higgins before heading down to the locker room where the last of the team members were leaving. They said their goodbyes as they passed Y/N and Y/N entered the empty locker room to see Ted still there. Leaning against the doorway, Y/N chuckled at the sight of Ted with his headphones on and dancing to the music that’s blasting through his headphones. Y/N soon noticed the dance he was doing and let out a real laugh. Ted spun around and jumped at the sight of Y/N standing there.
“You’re a fan of k-pop now?” Y/N questioned.
“It’s pretty catchy,” Ted answered. “Especially the song that you showed me. I mean you have stolen my heart.”
“Really?” Y/N raised their eyebrow and walked up to Ted.
“Yeah,” Ted blushed. “I was wondering if you would want to go on?”
“On a date?” Y/N completed his thought.
“Yeah, do you wanna go on a date?” Ted asked.
“Sure,” Y/N smiled. “Just give me the time and place. Have a nice evening Ted.”
“Have a nice evening Y/N,” Ted replied back.
Giving Ted a kiss on the cheek, Y/N left the room and headed out of the building. Placing on their headphones, they played the most recent song they were listening to and it was The Feels. Y/N chuckled to themselves and started their trek back to their flat. Hearing the ding from their phone, Y/N looked down to see a message from Ted.
Teddy Lasso
Tomorrow 7 Pm
Dress up nice
With a smile forming on their face, they sent Ted a cheeky reply and continued their walk back home.

It continues @hateweasel
-I never listened to Fly me to the moon - but I always connect it to a canon kiss between two queer characters in a trilogy I really like bc after it one of them goes back to his room while humming it. Then that arc of yours with the crazy villain dude who sang it came and past me was afraid it would ruin my good memory associated with the song (but I genuinely forgot it until now).
-I wasn't impressed with that arc's villain's intelligence and didn't understand his beef with Ciel since from what I understood back then it was his own fault for touching sacred objects wrong??? Like don't be surprised if you get cursed while playing with ancient magic artifacts dude...(not criticism towards the author, just the character who's being needlesly petty lmao)
-I then said, and i have really no context for it but that just makes it funnier: "Ciel seems unimpressed...Wich is peak Ciel behavior, but this time he's right." I guess it was about the arc's villain?
- Cameron [about Alois, Ciel and Audrey]: They are horrible supernatural creatures that kill people!!!!
Me back then: Bestie, Audrey is just half reaper? He doesn't do a reaper job either??? And reapers don't kill anyway they just collect the souls of the dead???
(I understood that he was manipulated by the villain so he probs got a lot of shit wrong. Before the whole "trying to get back with Kris while he's amnesiac", me and my friend gave him the benefit of the doubt and defended him a bit. But reading this now its still funny to me)
-Me shitting on the arc's villain name with my friend. I didn't even remember the whole name but I was sure it sucked and we were very vocal about it (again, bullying the character, not the author). I just generally had beef with the dude ig, I realized just now that I kept insulting him for everything...
-i was SO hype about the rest of the 7 going around spying Cielois on a date...wich. understandable. It's peak me behavior. I'm there for the funny hijinks. You actually call them "the backseat boys" while they're on a taxi in that chapter, i realize in my first reread, and it always makes me lose it for the giggles since I assume it's a reference to the backstreet boys? I don't know them I just know the name but ITS A FUNNY PUN.
-Oh God DaffyDucks's introduction chapter...The moment he was fighting with the seven to sit next to Alois my gaydar buzzed, no lie. After he started being sleazy with Alois, I was genuinely just creeped out and annoyed by him troughtout the whole arc and never really stopped. I hate him even now. I cheered when Ciel kicked his ass.
-DLTD: By that afternoon, Ciel had rid himself of the rest of the sensational seven
Me: LOL
DLTD: ...(including Alois)
Me: ... :(
Me: NO WAIT I MISREAD!! IT SAYS EXCLUDING!!! :DD
(Genuine Rollercoaster of emotions I had while reading that single sentence)
-Gabriel Bailey saying he would stop being a cop made me so sad. I was like "More power to you but I'm gonna miss you dude" cause I thought we wouldn't see him again?
Then my friend said "You know, cops saying they will stop being cops in fiction is usually a death flag" and I shat myself.
-I genuinely said (and I'm Copypasting) "NHA BC CIEL AND DAFFYDUCK DO BE HAVING SOME TENSION IF U KNOW WHAT I MEAN 💀" and then i followed it with (not Copypasting but translating in english) "Nha I'm kidding. Daffyduck isn't blonde he's got no chance."
-I said this at like 4 am. At 11:31 I then barged into the chatroom after this hours long silence with "Okay so DaffyDuck is an ally now but I still hate his guts".
- I then said "In the end DaffyDuck was working with the bad guys like i thought at the beginning of the arc but he was only being manipulated. I gave him much more importance than what he has." and my friend jokingly pointed out that a lot of people get manipulated in DLTD so I said "To be fair it's a common trope in every story, but not as many stories are so long as to have space for many repetition, so it's understandable that it happens a lot in this"

Voiceplay Visuals: Boy Bands In 5 Minutes (post 2/2)
Part 2! Let's get right into this! (For part 1 go here)
...There's a lot going on with the outfits here, but I'm assuming it's decade/era-appropriate? (I learned from one reaction video that apparently the poncho/jumper/hoodie thing that Geoff is wearing is something that people used to wear to the beach a lot or something?)
Geoff used to wear a bowtie a lot when he had shorter hair (apparently, though I don't watch a lot of VP's older stuff), but this is basically the only time that we see Geoff wearing a bowtie since growing his hair out (well, wearing a tied-up bowtie anyway)
I did a study/analysis thing on the varying positionings/line-up orders of the group during this video (haven't bothered to psot it though), and fun fact: Geoff spends the majority of this video on the left side of the screen!
This guy is Rek Dunn, who was a production assistant and friend of the group for many years, before he sadly passed away in 2021 (the Halo theme cover that Voiceplay did that year is in honour of him)
The only outfit change done phyiscally on camera and not via quick cuts. Pay attention to Layne!
The absolute drama. Iconic, we stan 👌😂
Backstreet Boys time! The outfits are similiar to what they started the video wearing, but with a few changes. E.g. they're wearing white pants rather than black, Eli's wearing a white fedora, and Geoff is wearing a singlet/tank top (one of the first times (if not the first time) that Geoff has been the only one with bare shoulders in a Voiceplay video, and certainly not the last (hey, if you've got it, flaunt it!))
Back to NSYNC, this time for the song "pop". And yes, if you haven't figured it out already, this section is filled with scenes relating to "pop" and all its meanings/connotations. So in this shot the guys are playing with balloons (which can pop), then they're tossing around bubble wrap (which people often enjoy popping), then they're eating bubblegum (which you can blow bubbles with, which can then pop), then dancing in bubbles/using bubble guns (see previous), and then doing a toast/cheers with cans of soda/soft drink, which Americans sometimes refer to as "pop".
This section alone must have taken a bit of time to set up and film each scene for, but I bet they had a really fun time with it (must be a ton of bloopers/outtakes)
According to commenters, Voiceplay are in fact doing the same choreography for One Direction's Best Song Ever as was used in the original music clip.
(Also I saw part of a 1D music video on a public TV screen a couple weeks ago and I was like "okay but why is Harry Styles' appearance here giving me Geoff vibes? 😅" (I think it was partially the hair, and partially the fact that Geoff lives rent-free in my head))
Geoff flossing XD (he also did it at the end of his Monster Mash video, or one of his selves did it at least)
Earl, Eli, and J are absolutely killing it with the fashion here! (I wanna know how many of the clothes used were already owned, and how many were acquired just for the video?)
Eli back at it again with the sunglasses-as-fashion-accessory (without wearing them), and also I just realized his pants are the same that he was wearing in the Pop section of the video just a bit earlier. Also J's shirt reminds me of the blazer/jacket he wore in the Queen Medley.
Also it's about time I acknowledge those light bars/poles that have been in the background the whole time and changing colours for the different scenes. Eli's the lighting whiz of the group, so they were likely his idea/doing (and he is credited with lighting in the description), and they're definitely a brilliant addition to the video!
I don't know how much rehearsal time went into this whole thing, but Voiceplay did an overall fantastic job at the choreography.
(Maybe I would have been fine doing this video as just one post, but better safe than sorry imo) So yeah, amazing video, amazing arrangement, amazing performance. What more can I say? They might not be boys (anymore), but Voiceplay is definitely my favourite band! 😁

The Masked Singer: S10 E2 (NFL Night) Running Commentary
Group A returns tonight with a wildcard Mask joining the competition. As always I post before seeing any unmaskings, so don’t consider these spoilers. (I am watching and posting on a delay.)
Cow 🐮: Grew up in a house of all women, boxing gloves with a golden arrow pointing down, and three calves (meaning he has children). The bonus clue: a pair of tap shoes, he says he’s known for his “killer moves”, and then did a spin. The sound of his voice sounded a little more familiar this week, and with his dance moves, I’m kind of leaning towards Ne-Yo, but I am not yet sold on it.
Diver 🤿: A pair of red high heels 👠, and reiterated that he became famous because he was someone people loved to hate. The bonus clue: a “super fan” with a club ♣️ painted on his chest. He says he’s “well-suited for the club”. I’m still thinking Nick Viall from The Bachelor and its related shows, but a lot of people on social media were going with Ken Jeong’s guess, Tom Sandoval. (I’ve never watched Vanderpump Rules or much of anything related to the Real Housewives shows, so I’m not familiar with him.)
Gazelle 🦌: Was pressured to change her name when she was younger. A test with an “A” grade on it. A sign reading “Threat Level: 3” (as in a “Triple Threat” who can sing, dance, and act) and a surfboard (possibly a Teen Choice Award winner). The bonus clue: a football reading “Villain”. She has apparently played a villain in a project. “A” is the name of the primary antagonist in Pretty Little Liars. So I’m thinking this may be Lucy Hale, although the social media buzz seemed to suggest Janel Parrish, which would fit in with the Hawaii clues (as she’s originally from Hawaii).
S’more 🍫: A cauldron, a TV with a letter M. Got his chance at a big break while he was in high school. A game controller. The bonus clue: An orange (he’s tasted victory before, and it possibly references Florida). I’m still getting the vibe that this is a boy band alum. I don’t think it’s Lance Bass, the voice is too high in range. If it’s a Backstreet Boy, I would think that this would be Kevin Richardson. Three major boy bands got their start in Orlando, Florida: Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and O-Town. We’ve had one Backstreet Boy (Nick Carter), two NSYNC members (Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick), and no members of O-Town (whose creation was documented on an MTV series called Making the Band). Vocally, I’d think if it was someone from O-Town, it’d either be Ashley Parker Angel or Dan Miller. But I’m also not ruling out Kevin Richardson, as a lot of the clues seem to point to him.
Pickle 🥒: Joker card, microphone, pictures of Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Martin Short. His teachers thought he wouldn’t amount to anything. He might be a comedian, and the microphone looked like something you’d see a podcaster use. Just from the sound of his voice I’m thinking Michael Rapaport. The bonus clue: a grill with an “On Air” sign in it. I’m sticking with Michael Rapaport, as he’s well known for being outspoken and opinionated in addition to his career as a comedian and actor.

Tips for Having a Great Karaoke Experience
Coming from the Japanese words “kara” (empty) and “oke” (short for orchestra), karaoke has established itself as a fun and interactive activity. At dedicated karaoke bars, house parties, or team-building events, participants can channel their inner singers and step into the shoes of their favorite music star. In addition, participants can ensure great karaoke experiences by considering the song they will sing and their behavior before and after they step on the stage.
If you have ever watched a singing competition, you know that the song choice can make or break you. The same applies to karaoke. If you already do not have a “go-to karaoke song” that lifts your spirits and you are confident you can sing well, check the playlist for a song you love and know the lyrics by heart, which energizes you and falls within your vocal range.
Many say karaoke experiences rely more on enthusiasm than talent. Elevated moods help participants feel at ease, which attracts the crowd. Knowing the lyrics will give you additional confidence and freedom since you will not have to stare constantly at the screen. The vocal range refers to how low and how high you can sing. If you sound more like Bruno Mars, do not try to be Tina Turner.
Another important point to consider when selecting your song is picking a popular one with a well-known chorus. This way, you can engage the audience and ensure its positive reception. You will fare even better with a song with a call-and-response portion like Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way. Also, keep it short and sweet; avoid songs with long bridges, intros, or guitar solos, which can disengage the audience and make you feel awkward standing on the stage.
Once you have your song of choice, consider practicing singing it at home or anywhere else suitable. Under the shower is one plausible option. The point is to set your brain to the song’s melody and lyrics.
Warming up your vocal cords is also critical for your preparation before you grab the mike. Drinking warm water mixed with honey and lemon will soothe them. Staying hydrated is also beneficial for vocal cords’ elasticity. And more mechanical preparation relates to doing some vocal warm-up exercises. One of the most popular ones is the lip trill. It involves inhaling and then exhaling while vibrating your lips together. Not only does lip trill warm your vocal cords up, but it can also help to improve your vocal range and breath control if you do it at different pitches and speeds.
Finally, when you hit the stage and grab the karaoke mike, keep the latter close to your mouth and avoid shouting and screaming into it. While you may not hit every note, ensure you stay in rhythm. Keeping the beat is particularly important if you have chosen a fast-paced song with abundant lyrics. You can spice things up with attention-grabbing dance moves, grand hand gestures, and exaggerated facial expressions. You can even jump off the stage and walk through the audience like real stars do. Karaoke is the perfect occasion to let loose and have fun.

An analysis of “Perfect Man,” a cover performance by BTS
Official video: BTS - Perfect Man (Original by SHINHWA) https://youtu.be/AMMx1hOwH-4
Introduction
“Perfect Man,” originally released by OG Korean boy band Shinhwa in 2002, is an unremarkable pastiche of every 1990s American boy band song ever recorded, complete with familiar backbeat, utterly predictable melodic progression, and nonsensical English rap verse. Even if you’ve never heard this song before, you’re pretty sure you’ve heard it before. If you fed an AI the entire Backstreet Boys catalog plus “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears and told it to write a song, but in Korean with an English rap verse, this is what it would spit out.
BTS covered “Perfect Man” in a televised performance for MBCkpop in December 2015.
Materials and methods
For the purpose of this study, I reviewed every view and fancam of the December 2015 “Perfect Man” performance that I could identify on YouTube, a minimum of three and a maximum of (probably) 75 times. (See References.)
Overview
The “Perfect Man” vocals are indeed perfect, and the choreo is precise and characteristic of other BTS choreography, at least until the bridge. All of the members pour far more passion into its execution than the song probably deserves, but what happens after the bridge, when the performance unexpectedly and quite delightfully blossoms into full-on male exotic dancer territory, is solely the responsibility of one member.
Comments on individual members in no particular order
Jungkook: For almost anyone other than Jungkook this would be his A-game, but even the most devoted JK bias would have to admit that for him this is a workmanlike performance. One would think that this muscular, aggressive style of choreo would suit him better than Jimin. He looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, and hits all of his marks with his usual precision, but this isn’t his stage and he knows it. I hate to accuse JK of phoning it in, but comparing his execution of the hip thrust before the first chorus to Jimin’s tells you all you need to know.
Jin: Jin, possibly the hardest working member of BTS and the one I want to marry, is tucked so far in back and shown so little on camera that you would have to know his voice as well as I do to realize he sings almost a quarter of the song. Considering how hard he says it is for him to learn choreo and the brute force of will underlying the fact that he never screws up, I’m annoyed. But I also understand, because ultimately there’s one member whose performance matters here and it’s not Jin.
Suga: Yoongi, along with Tae, is only here to fill out the formation. He’s probably wondering why they bothered to mic him. That said, although listening to him talk you’d think he can’t dance, this performance makes it obvious that he dances just fine, it’s just not his “thing.” He starts having fun about midway through the song. I get the impression that he is fully aware of how lame this song is, and that’s why he’s laughing. Maybe he’s laughing because they’re doing stripper choreography. Maybe he’s just happy that Hobi got stuck doing the goofy English rap verse and not him.
J-Hope: Hobi, as always, is flawless. His dancing is precise and the looks he serves bitingly fierce. Unfortunately, you’d never know from watching the official video, which doesn’t even feature him during the rap verse. Maybe the cameraperson was also (by which I mean, in addition to me) secondhand embarrassed for him for having to rap lines like “Don't let the clues get ya, they not fear.”
V: I wondered why anyone had bothered to make a Tae fancam, because he doesn’t sing at all and is in the back for much of the performance, until I watched it. He’s the only member other than Jimin who sees the potential of the choreography after the bridge, but he’s not the center and can’t capitalize on it. Tae biases will be very satisfied with this fancam.
Jimin: Where to start? Whether by simple accident of line allotment or by design, this is a relatively rare group performance featuring Jimin as the center. I don’t know why he’s not the center more often; when he is, magic happens. In this case, the magic happens the moment Jimin pulls off his jacket and runs his hand through his hair like a man grimly determined to finish the job once and for all, no matter what it takes. I would not be surprised if he workshopped this move because he saw, correctly, that the costuming was an obstacle to the optimal expression of the choreography. YouTube commenters wonder, “Why can’t I stop watching this?” but the answer is really simple: Jimin’s biceps. Don’t believe me? Just watch JK doing the exact same moves in a double-breasted jacket. The other obvious reason is that he goes for it 1000% harder than the song warrants, but Jimin’s bare arms are why this performance has been viewed over 117 million times. What a freaking genius.
“Perfect Man” brings me great joy. I watch it for the endorphins. I am really, really tickled by the fact that the choreo is straight out of Magic Mike and that Jimin saw that and gave us what we didn’t know we wanted in as family-friendly a way as any performance of a song this lame that is only two minutes and 21 seconds long and includes that many hip thrusts and concludes with them dropping to their knees can. This is the definition of understanding the assignment. Legend. The fact that the song is called “Perfect Man” is the icing on the cake.
RM: Sorry, Joon. I didn’t even notice you weren’t there until like the seventh viewing.
Conclusion and recommendations
They should make Jimin the center more often. And they should do this again, with everyone in short sleeves. Or, maybe not. I’m imagining a modern reenactment of this performance including Namjoon and his current physique and honestly, I don’t think armys could handle it.

Hi BPP! I remember you made a comment about kpop stans and multis that got you some hate on your old blog, when you said majority of people in kpop spaces are NOT actually here for the music, and that explains what drives a lot of 'discourse' by kpop stans. I remember some people were upset with you but I believed you were right. And once again, you were proven right!
https://twitter . com/koobicouture/status/1573323087491354625
I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading your posts because your insight and autopsy of this industry and its players has always been on point. I wish I could send your posts to every music publication in the world and pay you!! I know you're inactive now but please don't stop posting. Your critiques are actually sound and very needed. <3
**
Hi Anon,
Your link.
I appreciate the kind words, but just as I said back then, there should be nothing upsetting or controversial about stating the obvious. And to those who disagree, if the state of 'discourse' hasn't clued you in to the fact that music is only a secondary consideration (at best) for a lot of k-pop fans, then I'm not really sure what to tell you.
Anon, in a way, this is all by design. A lot of music in this genre is unlistenable. (Let's just get that fact out of the way). It's why so many k-pop fans not just scoff at the idea of constantly listening to music from people they claim to be a fan of, but also think listening to music is unpaid labour and some kind of exploitation. This is a persistent idea expressed by many k-pop fans and it makes sense they feel this way because a lot of the musical output from the genre is objectively vapid, noisy, and just tedious to listen to. But many of these fans remain very plugged in to what's happening with their 'favourite groups', why? Because k-pop (by design) has never been about the music, and the fans who hyper-fixate on everything else, are precisely the target audience because they will always have issues to keep them engaged.
I'll refer to a tweet I saw from looking through the quotes on your tweet/link - someone had already said this so I don't have to repeat myself:
(Notice how it's ARMYs pointing out how crazy the quoted comment is)
*
(This is just by coincidence seeing him in the quotes, but OP is an ARMY that used to document the differences between k-pop and BTS some years ago on youtube. Not sure what he's been up to lately but I found his videos to be too long/disjointed, and I've only seen clips in passing, but for anybody interested, this was the channel he posted on - link here).
There's a reason some people object to calling k-pop a genre and instead strictly define it as an industry. K-pop was created to compete with the West in the music & entertainment industry as an expression of South Korea's soft power. Music is music, so besides the songs being in Korean, there was nothing to differentiate it from musical output in the West, nothing to make it stand out and appeal to more people. So more elements were added:
elaborate choreography,
outlandish and/or eye-catching costumes,
over the top fanservice,
(incoherent) world-building and universes,
supplementary content by way of reality shows, personal vlogs, etc.
Basically they took the golden era of groups in the West (Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, the Jackson 5, Backstreet Boys) and (like everything in Korea), amped up the intensity.
In k-pop, more than any other music genre or industry, there's more resources put into, and more emphasis placed on, what most Western musicians consider to be auxiliary elements. In my opinion, this is part of what makes k-pop special because you hardly ever just get a song. You get a music performance with a complicated backstory/universe, with incredible outfits and styling, expressed by a personality you've come to know at some level.
The problem begins when you have musicians who are known more for everything besides actual music. Because that attracts a particular type of fan, and that type of fan will come in many varieties, but one thing they will all have in common is not caring so much about the music. After all, the music is only a secondary component. Which really does the genre a huge disservice in my opinion.
In theory, k-pop should be the biggest and most popular kind of music in the world. Even after accounting those who are prejudiced and otherwise racist, majority of people like seeing great choreography, interesting outfits, and fun personalities on stage. Like this is exactly what a lot of people want... too bad a lot of the music that comes with it induces a headache. BTS's modification of this formular is one reason why BTS broke out globally. One of the only things BTS did differently from their peers was not compromise one thing for the other, BTS did everything else other groups were doing, but have never compromised on the quality of music they deliver. They worked within the k-pop system, AND put out meaningful good music that spoke directly to their experiences, and made sure to communicate it directly to their fans. That's it. BTS is the first group that showed how successful this model can be, and we're now seeing a few groups in 4th gen apply the same formula and they're doing very well globally.
Including NewJeans. Lol.
But because k-pop often prioritizes other things over the music, and as a result attracts certain types of people, you get takes like this:
*
*
People here for drama, controversy, conspiracy theories, or in other words, 'discourse'. The jokes write themselves and I hate to sound cynical but these sorts of people comprise the bulk of the target audience in k-pop.

A group representing victims of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco's regime has asked prosecutors to investigate a song performed at a rally by the far-right Vox party, for allegedly calling for a return to civil war.
The song, written by YouTuber Isaac Parejo and performed with the band Los Meconios, starts with the line "We're going back to '36", a reference to the year Spain's civil war began and a suggestion Spain's Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory said could be akin to a hate crime.
The Viva22 rally was organised by Vox's leader Santiago Abascal and celebrated Spanish heritage and history with up to 15,000 people last weekend.
Video messages from Donald Trump, Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán, Italy's newly-elected far-right leader Giorgia Meloni, and an in-person appearance from Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki were the political highlights of the event, which was part-rally, part-concert, and part-tourism expo.
"Spain is on the brink of the abyss," Abascal told the crowd from the stage and encouraged supporters to reject parties at the polls "whose objective is national rupture" or "that attack the family and common sense" on gender issues.
"Let's go back to 36"
The most controversial point of the Vox event, just as the sun was setting, was the performance by Los Meconios.
The act went viral on social media after a rendition of a song called "Let's go back to 36", a reference to 1936, the year of the Francoist coup d'etat which started the Spanish Civil War.
The war started in July 1936 when Franco and other rebel officers launched an unsuccessful coup against the elected government of the Second Republic that escalated into a three-year conflict with about 500,000 casualties.
"The Attorney General's office should investigate and the Secretary of State for Democratic Memory should file a hate crime complaint," said Spain's Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory.
The state prosecutor's office and the ministry in charge of democratic memory declined to comment.
The lyrics to the song include verses such as "we are 'fachas'" -- a slang term for "fascist" -- and comparisons between Spain's current centre-left coalition government and the Popular Front that held power in the lead-up to the civil war.
The performers said on social media the song was a parody and had been misinterpreted.
"That sentence ... doesn't mean that we want to go back to '36, it means that they want to take us back to '36," Parejo said in a video on Twitter, referring to what he described as the "single-brain-cell left".
Since its founding in 2013, Vox has grown to become the third-largest party in the lower house, currently holding 52 of 350 seats. It is also a junior partner in the regional government of Castille and Leon led by the conservative Popular Party.
Like a 'Nazi boyband'
The stage show also saw performers making jokes about sexual assault, feminism and LGBT groups.
Meanwhile, the event has attracted a barrage of criticism with the official account of another Spanish political party Podemos denouncing Viva22's stage show as a "Nazi boyband" or the "Nazi Backstreet Boys."
Los Meconios say they were only trying to say that the government of Pedro Sánchez "is taking us to the year 36".
In addition, they have complained about the reactions left-wing politicians have had to the lyrics of the song, about "the manipulation of the media" and about "the number of threats we have received".
For its part, Vox has denied that it wants to return to the past and has said they want unity in Spain.

Great Singer, Aaron Carter, passed away at the age of 34- Rest in Peace
Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and a former child pop performer, has passed away. He was 34.
Around 11 a.m. local time on Saturday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for assistance to Carter’s Lancaster, California home, where they discovered a deceased person.
The source claimed that he was discovered dead in his bathtub.
There was no mention of a potential cause of death by the authorities.
Carter is survived by his 11-month-old baby, Prince. Carter originally rose to stardom as a youngster with pop songs like “I Want Candy” and “Crush on You.”
The singer’s first studio album, “Aaron Carter,” came out in 1997, and earlier that year, he opened up for the Backstreet Boys. The year 2018 saw the release of “Love,” his fifth and last studio album.
In addition, Carter was well-known for his parts in the television series “Lizzie McGuire” on the Disney Channel and “7th Heaven,” which made its debut on the WB Television Network. He also had an appearance on “House of Carters,” an E! Entertainment Television reality series about his family.
After coming out as bisexual in 2017, the musician received an outpouring of love and support from his followers and other celebrities.
It has been weighing on my chest for almost half of my life, but there’s something I’d like to express that I feel is vital for me and my identity, Carter said on Twitter. “This doesn’t make me feel bad; it’s just a weight and load I’ve carried around for a while and would like to have taken off of me.”
Years passed during which I entertained the idea, but it wasn’t until I was 17 years old, following a number of relationships with females, that I had an encounter with a man to whom I felt attracted and who I had also grown up and worked with.
In a 2019 “The Doctors” episode, the singer talked openly about his struggles with schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, manic depression, and severe anxiety.
In one clip posted on the show’s Facebook page, Carter referred to a plastic bag containing numerous medication bottles as “my reality” and remarked, “This is my reality.”
In 2017, Carter and his then-girlfriend Madison Parker were travelling through Habersham County when they were stopped in Georgia on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession.
The musician later denied having a drug issue and said he doesn’t drink in an interview.
He declared, “I don’t need support.” “What I need is for people to understand that I’m a human being and that I err just like every other person in this world, but I would never jeopardize my life or the life of my partner,” he said.

Turning Red (2022) Review
I feel as a white male I am qualified to address the very severe controversy and allegations that have hit the new Disney Pixar film Turning Red. These severe complaints state that Turning Red dares to confirm a shocking fact that apparently up until this point had only been but a light rumour that traversed humankind. That fact is... oh gosh, you guys might want to sit down.....here it goes... when girls hit puberty they get periods. I know right, huge gasps!! Who would have thunk it!!?? I can’t even!! In all seriousness this simply proves a point that people would complain about anything for the sake of complaining, even if its about a delightful animated movie about a super duper cute red panda.
Plot: Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother's obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda.
What a delightful movie. It’s nice to see Pixar actually not rely upon wanting to make their audience cry with either an opening montage of a couple living out their lives till old age and illness takes one away from the other, or your favourite imaginary friend fading away into nothingness, or a teen named Andy saying goodbye to his childhood toys.... damn Pixar loves to pull on the heartstrings and suck on our tears. However with Turning Red Pixar takes to advice from The Weekend and asks you to save your tears for another day, for Turning Red is an enjoyably whimsical and quirky coming of age comedy about a young girl hitting puberty (oh gosh the controversy!!!) and learning about herself. Let’s address the panda in the room, she also turns into a big red panda. And lets talk about said panda. It goes without saying that Pixar animation is amazing, and its as prevalent here with every singular hair and fur of the panda looking so real and true to life it’s actually scary what these animators can do. But the panda itself is obviously very cute and I imagine will help Disney sell many a plush. I’m sure I even saw Build-a-Bear version of said panda.
As a whole Turning Red is super enjoyable. It’s oddly one of Pixar’s weirdest creations in that all the main characters are over the top caricatures, with the main girl and her friends being the school geeks and weirdos but dialled up to 1000% and the plot involving the girls trying to afford tickets to see their favourite boy band 4*Town - an amalgamation of every early 2000s boy band, sporting all the nasally vocals, heavy synth, and drum pads you could want from a nostalgic trip down the backstreet; and whilst trying to get to the showing Mei needs to deal with her inner red panda not bursting out, and all I’m gonna say is the movie’s finale is a ridiculous chaotic action set piece featuring many red pandas, rituals and angry mothers. The latter especially, like goodness gracious! Sandra Oh voices the mother and wow is she a terrible mum. She embarrasses her kid any chance she gets and her obsessive protectiveness over her child is borderline psychotic. Takes dysfunctional to a whole new level. Though it resulted in some hilarious moments. This movie is weird and me and my fiancée dug it! It’s super sweet, funny and manages to recreate the school years really well. And for those terrified about the controversial period references, it’s literally one shot where they show a bunch of tampon packages and that is it. It’s really not that scary. So just like the red panda, learn to calm yourselves down and relax. Turning Red is definitely worth your time.
Overall score: 7/10
