Folks, gather around the warm glow of your screens and let me tell you a tale. There’s this magical place called Walgreens. This oasis will suck you in like a siren’s song and make you forget all semblance of time, money, and sense. It’s filled with many treasures. I have no defenses in the Walgreens and buy half of what I see each trip. For example, this silver mask. It’s supposed to firm and tighten your face. What it DOESN’T tell you is that this basically hardens into cement. When it says it clears your pores, it’s not lying. This thing could be at an exorcism. It could pull the demon soul out of Lucifer himself. I think it found a blackhead from like 1996. I’m pretty sure it removed some memories, likely some of my prefrontal cortex, and every ounce of makeup I’ve ever put on my face. It also removed my dignity as I was near tears pulling it off. Oh, and it can take off half of your eyebrow if you aren’t careful about application (R.I.P. to half of my eyebrow). But my skin is fricking beautiful and clean. SHE ASSUMED (Journal #1)

It is normal for teenagers to have a crush, to admire someone. Most of her crushes have something in common, exquisite face, talents they can brag about, and all of them seemed too impossible to reach. But this experience with the recent person she is admiring is quite different. She is considering this as her first heartbreak since she thought there is something going on between her and him. She is reflecting to express resentment and to lessen the pain she is feeling.

 They were good friends, but little did he know that she can see him as more than that. It started when he comforted her through his kind words. It was the first time that she encountered such a good speaker. She was shocked and touched because for a guy, he was pretty good at his words. His words pierced through her heart and he made her realize something.

 Their communication continues and as time goes by, she found herself admiring him but not as a friend anymore. She assumed. She assumed that him calling her at late night meant something, that his words are truly for her, that he feels something for her too, and she assumed that his smiles and laughs are meant just for her. However, her daydream was ended by a confession. He did not confess his feelings for her, it is his feelings for another girl.

 And that is how their conversation ended; they barely talk to each other. Now, he was on call with someone else, he was talking with the girl he truly loves, and his smiles and laughs are not for her anymore. She, on the other hand was left alone. She feels like she was left hanging. 

 She was well-aware that everything happens for a reason, that maybe this was bound to happen. She believes God let her feel this pain for her to be stronger. She knows that someday, the man that is truly for her will come, on the right time. 

May this experience of her serve a lesson. To not misunderstood every word that is said. Words are powerful, but we should not assume something out of these words. Let us give ourselves the love that we deserved. Because sometimes, the love that we are longing to feel is just within ourselves.

Marlon is making a good recovery after his surgery to remove his eye and a couple of his cheek teeth. He's eating well and very cuddly. I think he vastly prefers being in our bed at night over a cage at the hospital. I mean I guess that makes sense. I prefer our bed over most other places too. Lloyd is healing well too and acclimating very well to wearing a bunsie 24/7. He probably has at least 2 more surgeries ahead of him to remove the remaining abscesses and neuter him but I think he will do well.
