he felt like a scared animal, not like a clipper, as he stood there in the doorway, holding his arm defensively. the minute he heard movement his eyes flickered as she appeared in the doorway, a frown furrowing her brows and god she was beautiful. if her clinic was a warm summers day, she was the sun itself, the bright soft center of it all. sunny felt the breath stolen from between his lungs, his lips pressed together.

The Barons Daughter

Summary: “You can’t outrun who you are.”

Chapter 1

“Quinn. What an unpleasant surprise to see you here,�� Micah greeted Quinn as he entered the room. His voice was filled with anger because of Quinn breaking one of his rules. “You weren’t invited as a matter of fact.”

Baron Quinn, whose symbol was an armadillo turned around upon hearing Micah’s voice. Before now Quinn stood alone in the room examining Micah’s weapons.  “I felt like I was missing my old friend and wanted to drop by. Are these swords by any chance available for shipment? I’ll be happy to have my men do a little test on them for you.”

“Cut the bullshit Quinn. I don’t fall for it.  You know I hate when people break my rules,” Micah gently touch a sword which was hanging by his side. “Do you honestly think I would trust you to test my swords?”

Quinn smiled backing up away from Micah but not in fear. “Come now Micah, you know you won’t hurt me. You may not be afraid to do so but you’re smart enough not to.”

Micah scoffed. “Of course not. It’ll start a war just like what you and the widow want. I will not be a pawn in your game. Plus, this sort of thing brings you pleasure.”

“You are not a pawn but a mere accomplice. I’m not asking you to take down the widow with me but to simply cut back her weapon supply for a short amount of time,” Quinn said as though it was not a big deal.  “I’m not asking for too much am I?”

Cutting off the widow’s supply was just as good as saying he was on Quinn’s side.

“The widow is a threat to us all Micah. Who knows what she’ll do one day. Maybe kill us all?”

“And may I ask what happens after you kill the widow and take her territory? What happens to the other barons? Do you just stop there?” Micah questioned. At times he was quite interested to know what Quinn was planning in that crazy head of his.

Quinn took a few steps forward. “That’s why right now you should be my friend not my enemy. Only as my ally can I guarantee no harm will fall your way during this battle.”

“I don’t trust you one bit Quinn and you never trust anyone. You turn your back on anyone when the time is right. Look at you, getting married again. A young girl I hear it is.”

Quinn tensed up. It was better to do the taunting not the other way around.

“There’s always that better option for you right? That’s why you are remarrying again.”

“Watch it,” Quinn warned reaching for his sword.

“Be mindful of where you are Quinn. You can’t fight your way through all my clippers. Not even the most skilled regent in the badlands would make it here in time,” Micah reminded Quinn of the situation.

“You were always one step ahead,” Quinn smirked letting go of his sword.  “I need a man like you by my side.”

“I work with no one Quinn but I will say it’s been amusing watching you two destroy each other. I might just have some peace around here soon enough,” Micah walking towards a large window.

“There can be no peace in the badlands. You know that. Let’s burn this world to the ground and start anew,” Quinn urged Micah.

“I will think about it. Now leave.”

“You have my word,” Quinn said knowing Micah would join him sooner or later. He turned and made his way from Micah but before he could exit the room he halted for a moment. “Wonderful daughter. She looks just like her mother.”

Micah angrily turned around ready to launch at Quinn but he was already gone. Micah yelled alone in the room which alerted his regent.

“Baron!” Demetri called as his instinct to protect his baron played its part. He noticed Quinn was gone but something in their conversation must’ve made his baron angry.

Micah slammed his hand down on the window as if to break it. “Double up the forces. No one comes in here uninvited again. I've had enough of these barons.”

“Yes baron!”

“They’ll destroy each other one day. Make sure the men are being trained well. Whether I like it not those two are starting a war and if one of them beats the other it’ll be hell for us. For now we lay low in all of this.”

“Baron!” The group of clippers saluted their Baron.

“Sunny,” Quinn called to his most loyal clipper.

Sunny stood out from the group to have a private chat with his baron. “Pack up. The baron is preparing to leave,” He ordered the men. He then gave Quinn a look meaning it was now more private to speak. He was never a man of many words, his sword spoke for him.

“It’s hard to tell if he’s on our side but he’ll come around,” Quinn informed Sunny recalling his conversation with Micah.

“Baron Micah hates you but he hates the Widow even more. His wife and the Widow never got along. We have that to our advantage.”

“That may be true but we-”

“And here my father is conversing with his regent rather than planning the battle with his son,” Ryder cheered with a smile on his face as he met up with his father. It wasn’t long before his smile disappeared.

“You were the one who decided to tag along like a lost dog. You could at least make yourself useful to find any information I don't know,” Quinn told his son, mounting his horse now as his conversation with Sunny came to an end because of Ryder.

“The more you keep me out the less I will know when I become baron f-”

“The position of Baron is not something which is handed to you, you take it. With that I’ll never have someone to take over once I am done, unless of course Jade gives me an heir. That is something you leave me no choice to do,”

Ryder clenched his fist out of anger for two reasons.

“Be a man Ryder. Find a sword and learn what it means to be a Baron in the badlands. Come to me with blood on your hands,” were Quinn's final words to Ryder before he rode off.

The clippers followed behind him while only Sunny remained with Ryder.

“I suppose this pleases you. He thinks of you to be his son,”

Without any words being said, Sunny decided it best to return to his Baron’s side than to have another argument with Ryder.

Ryder glared at the back of the man who rode off before him. His jealousy for Sunny was one thing but his hatred for his father was even more.

“When I come to you father, I’ll make sure your blood be on my hands in the end.”

‘Into the Badlands’ season 2’s episode 5, titled “Monkey Leaps Through Mist," is set to follow Sunny and Bajie as they enlist the help from an unlikely source and may pay the price. Meanwhile, Daniel Wu talked about his character’s journey and challenges in the new season.

The synopsis for “Monkey Leaps Through Mist” posted on TV Guide reads, “Sunny (Daniel Wu) and Bajie (Nick Frost) get help from an unlikely source, but it comes with a price. Meanwhile, the Widow (Emily Beecham) considers a risky gambit; and MK (Aramis Knight) enacts a dangerous plan.”

In the previous episode, titled "Palm of the Iron Fox," Quinn (Marton Csokas) managed to get revenge on his traitorous son Ryder (Oliver Stark). However, Ryder’s death may bring in untoward consequences for the characters of AMC’s action-series. The upcoming episode will shift its focus back on the show’s main protagonist Sunny as he seeks to enlist help from an unlikely source together with Bajie, the schemer with questionable morals who somehow finds himself allied with Sunny.

The two have been evading some bounty hunters as well as The Engineer (Stephen Walter). According to Christian Post, it seems that the two are also being hunted down by the legendary Clipper Regent, Moon (Sherman Augustus). It is possible that Moon survived the battle despite losing his hand.

Daniel Wu talked about his character’s journey in season 2 during an interview with Den of Geek. He said, “It's all basically saying that he can't really escape the world he's trying to escape… No matter how hard you try to make this sort of utopian family, it's just not gonna happen. It's in his destiny to be a killer.”

The 42-year old American actor revealed that his character, Sunny, will be different from the man from season 1. Wu said, “He’s downtrodden, depressed… He’s trying to find the will to not only survive, but get back into the Badlands to his wife and baby. That’s the driving motivation pushing through all of this stuff.”

‘Into the Badlands’ season 2’s episode 5, titled “Monkey Leaps Through Mist," is scheduled to air on AMC on April 16, 2017. It will be followed by episode 6, titled "Leopard Stalks in Snow,” scheduled to be released on April 23.

Into The Badlands: What’s Up With Your Favorites As AMC’s Martial Arts Spectacle Returns

Expect a six-month time jump when AMC’s eye-popping martial arts fantasy Into the Badlands debuts its second season this month.

“We like the idea of letting people settle into their new places and allowing the world to recover a little bit from the events of the end of Season 1,” explains Alfred Gough, who created the show with his longtime producing partner Miles Millar. “We see our characters scattered across the Badlands and into other areas as well and we also introduce new characters. For us, this season was all about expanding the world.” Gough and Millar reveal where you’ll find some of your favorites as a new day dawns on the Badlands.

whatever you do, don't think about the fact that Veil has no way of knowing what happened to Sunny, and probably thinks he's dead or abandoned her and their baby

Thoughts on Into the badlands first 3 episodes and characters.

Into the badlands 3 episodes so far has been AMAZING. Like its only 3 episodes so far and we've seen practically all the scenes from the trailer so you have no idea what to expect. I know the whole "Sunny finds Veil" plot might be a little cliché but the build up for that whole plot is just incredible and each episode so far was better than the last in an intense way. It has you on the edge of your seat. I'm just loving this show. The season isn't starting off with too much of a fast nor slow pace. I think it's perfect as it is. Fighting scenes look  great. Reminds me of those old kung fu movie fights I used to watch. I am impressed with these 3 episodes and looking even closer at the show the scenes are so beautiful.

Characters

M.K - At this point his character is annoying to many but for me he seems like one of those characters who grows on you. They change as time goes on. He'll be less impatient and ready to sit and listen in the future. Right now he is still kind of reckless.

Tilda- She is in a way no different from M.K. Kind of reckless with her decisions seeing how she killed those clippers. Doesn't fully think things through. She needs to learn how to take orders better like waldo said. I know those clippers did something bad but still what if killing those guys backfired? It would have fallen on the widows shoulders to fix it. She has a long way to go before becoming a proper regent.

The widow- I love the widow but I cant help to think this power will change her. Make her into someone she isn't. It'll be too much to handle for  her. Other than that she is slaying this season. Literally.

Waldo- It's nice to see him wanting to fight again.

Lydia- I love her now. I kind of hated her before, not really but something about her I didn't like but I love her now. She's been through a lot. She tried to help the ones she loves and they always cast her aside.

Quinn- Creepy dude. Slimy dude. You cant help but love and hate him at the same time which is what makes his character so great. He has his good and bad moments.

Veil- <3 I cant help but want her to escape now but I worry for her doing so. She's  a great character who thinks things through. Observes and then forms a plan. I like that.

Ryder- Foolish guy. You would think after becoming a baron he learns what it takes to become a god leader but no. He's still cocky, delusional and doesn't take advice. When I feel like he's close to dying I am going to get some popcorn, watch and enjoy. He has 7 more episodes to change my opinion of him.

Sunny- I love that we see him becoming comfortable around others (Bajie) because he usually doesn't talk much. He's expressing himself more. I am enjoying that.

Bajie- For me, I never look at him as just a character for humor. There is so much we don't know about him. He could be dangerous. I laugh at what he says but then I'm like hmm there is something bad about him. I want him to take off his shirt because I feel like there might be a clipper mark on his back or maybe he used to be a nomad. He just seems to have some sort of a connection with maybe a baron.

All in all the season so far is great. If you have not seen it yet please watch it
