Las Mil Y Una (2020, dir. Clarisa Navas)
#cine nacional#cine argentino#las mil y una#ngl the whole compressing and editing of gifs is so difficult for me#ive been trying to edit the gifs of another movie for like a month now. anyways#this is not the sort of movie id enjoy very much but god. the actings so good and the chemistry between the actors is beautiful#theres a feeling at least for me of them being a real family and the way that they move around the other and interact physically is#so so perfect in a way i find hard to explain#the movie at its core is a love story between these two girls and while thats very well done i think#the strongest point is less the writing (which is good) but the direction and acting definitely#it feels like the best of those neorrealism italian movies that are so hit or miss for me

this is absolutely unrelatable content, but i just wanted to say that the french new wave is boring. very boring. i watched half of just one godard movie and it felt like four hours had passed. nothing happened and then everything happened and theres some jumpcuts. some artsy abstract bullshit was in the middle and the only explanation you’ll get is “you see! it’s a movie! the filmmaker can do whatever he wants and he decided to break conventions by doing this arbitrary thing!” and i mean yeah that’s great but you know what else is great? not watching this
#brunsposts#nouvelle vague sucks ass#you can like it all you want. i still am not gonna praise it#also from what ive seen godard is an old prick who hates phones now or whatever?#anyway catch me watching italian neorrealism. i'd watch bicycle thief for the fifth time before i watched even one nouvelle vague movie#film school rly does give you the perspective that. yes. things can be revolutionary. you can recognize that#while ALSO recognizing that some of those revolutionary movies are as boring as watching paint dry#anyway. i prefer the aesthetic and existential dread of neorrealism because now those are movies without the bullshit

Viaggio in Italia

Hi there fellow film student! Welcome to the most beautiful experience that is studying Cinema :). What's the focus of your University? Cinema as an art or is it more of a Film Making one? Cause if it's as an art I recommend watching Italian Movies from the Neorrealism, French ones from the Nouvelle Vague and of course the Russians. You might have already but if you haven't (like me when I started) it really helps cause teacher's will always use them as examples and you'll get a head start :)
Hey! It’ll be a mixture of cinema as an art and production. Thank you so so much I appreciate this a lot! 💓 Which movies in particular do you recommend?
