horror has so much potential and can be absolutely incredible but the genre is so oversaturated with cheap jumpscares, at least visually, that it’s hard to like it. written horror is arguably a lot more effective and enjoyable than visual horror because it can’t rely on things like that and leaves a lot of things up to the imagination / interpretation. when you describe something that’d be visually horrifying, the viewer / reader will assume the worst, or the thing most sickening / horrifying to them. in contrary, if you show them it, as you would do in a movie or tv show, it has more hit or miss because it’s not what’s personally scary to them, it’s more personally scary to the director. in this essay i will

also, a quick notice to everyone on my dash playing canon characters: it’s okay if they branch out from how they are in their canon / are a little different. people are shaped by other people they meet, their environment, etc, and it’s only natural that if you rp with other muses and you have different aus and your muse starts to develop relationships that they don’t have in canon, they’ll change and develop. this isn’t a bad thing! it just means your muse is developing like a real person does, and you should never be ashamed of that

one fun thing i’ve noticed: jared doesn’t see lies of omission and continuous lies as lies. when evan says ‘what do you expect me to do? keep lying?’ jared makes sure to say, and i quote, ‘i didn’t say lie, all you have to do is just nod and confirm’.  evan faking being connor’s friend is technically a lie, but bc evan didn’t say it himself and at this point in the musical he’s not actively stating it, jared doesn’t see it as a lie. just an assumption that was blown out of proportion
