It's probably downstream of just bone-deep pathological atomized liberalism but I really truly don't get the appeal of stories with the overarching theme of 'happiness comes from following the wisdom of tradition/submitting to the will of providence/listening to your inherent nature/Trusting the System, trying to preserve your autonomy is just childish pique that leads to misery'.
Like I watched enough after school specials when I was in school, thanks.

Buggy is in a scientific paper
Some researchers who study Drosophila (fruit flies) named a gene after Buggy's devil fruit power (BaraBara). The gene encodes a protein that can be broken into smaller fragments.
His name is even included in the acknowledgment section! He's described as a...Bara-Bara superhuman???
I thought this was pretty neat, as a guy who studies genetics I did not expect my fav clown to be crossing over into my work????

Okay, since a lot of people have been asking for this, and I'm a big believer in sharing this experience with everyone, here are the director's commentaries for Boy (2010).
have fun, share, and feel free to come and scream to me about it afterwards!

Are people not embarrassed to be admit they read smut?? Like it's basically porn except your reading it instead of watching it. Weird. I don't get how people are so into it?? Like why??
The show itself doesn't even show explicit scenes, I don't know why people insist on writing them
Ummm....what? I....*takes a long pause and just stares* genuinely don't even know where to begin with this one or what precipitated this ask in the first place. But here goes nothing.
For starters, no, I'm not in the least bit embarrassed to admit I read smut, because I'm a grown ass woman in my 30's and it's not an embarrassing thing??
I'm not sure what your goal was with this ask, but if it was an attempt to shame me for liking ✨️spicy fanfiction✨️ it didn't work.
In actuality, I personally prefer to read rather than watch. This is mainly because porn is by and large based on what men want. Not always, of course, but mostly.
Fanfiction writers are mostly (again, not always, but mostly) women. They are writing spicy scenes from a woman's perspective and not just based on what a man wants or gets from sex.
So, that hopefully explains why many women are into it. It sounds like smut isn't your thing, in which case, just...don't read it?
You can filter by ratings on AO3 if you're that concerned with not seeing E rated stories.
"The show itself doesn't even show explicit scenes, I don't know why people insist on writing them"
As my very wise friend pointed out, you just answered your own question😂
We write them for that very reason, because the show doesn't show them. And reading/writing smut is fun!
In conclusion, it's 2024. What we're not going to do, is shame women for liking sex.
Man, just when I think I've heard it all😂
