This is the one time where I will honestly say that they didn't need to kiss.
The way they conveyed their love, the desperate hold as no to be separated again, the words in which were used to confess were more romantic than a mere kiss would have been.
Making two obviously queer men soulmates, destined by design to always fall in love with each other, every time and in every universe, and whose love for each other is an integral, necessary piece to solving an equation that saves all of humanity was above and beyond what I ever expected from ANY major media production, let alone one based off a battle area game series.
Honestly, bravo.
they didn't kiss but their destinies are intertwined forever. they didn't kiss but in every universe they find each other and only jayce can make viktor understand his faults. they didnt kiss but jayce doomed viktor to his fate as the machine herald and then saved him. they didn't kiss but their love literally saved the world

TL;DR: If You Dislike Jack & Joker, Maybe It Just Isn't For You (And That's Okay)
I'm gonna start this post by stating that you are free to dislike or even hate any piece of media you want. And you're also free to criticise it. I'm not trying to censor anyone, I just wanna give some perspective on 1 thing:
The Claim that Jack & Joker's Script Made no Sense
Bc, to me, it did.
I've seen ppl comment on grandma's ability to fight, on the 4 Horsemen's Games, on Joke's heist plans...
And it's fair you don't like any of that, you're allowed to find those weird or distasteful but I want you to consider what this show's whole thing was:
Cranking up real situations to ridiculousness in order to highlight and point out the absurdity that it is that we live in a society that is classist and full of judgments made based solely on what meets the eye that actually end up determining a lot of people's lives AND that lets powerful people toy with other human beings with no remorse, for their own profit, putting those people constantly between a rock and a hard place.
This is the ENTIRE THING of this show (YinWar's chemistry aside, of course).
So, of course, you can say you dislike it. Of course, you can wish they'd taken a more realistic approach or, at least, a less comedic one, but... The truth is: the show did what it set out to do.
If you don't like it, you don't like it but, at least, get it, you know? Understand what it is and judge it for that. Don't come towards it exclusively based on your expectations and what you wish it was. That's being narrow-sighted. And it's just not fair to the show.
So, idk, maybe my 2 scents won't matter to anyone but, at least, I got it out of my chest.
Anyway... Regarding the fact that we didn't get a TattooAran kiss, we ride at dawn, as scheduled. akdjskdjdkd
Cheers! 💜💜💜

someone free me from this very cursed The Raven Cycle inspired bsd au. rich kid Dazai spends all his time researching the supernatural and ley lines in Japan’s country side. He had a (near) death experience as a kid but was saved through supernatural means and now he is unable to die. But the gift of his immortality is unbearable to Dazai. Thus he has dedicated his life to researching the supernatural to figure out what happened to him and how to reverse it. Since his incident he has also been able to see the supernatural. Unfortunately, when he is trying to come in direct contact with the supernatural it dispels, almost like he is nullifying it.
Chuuya is the youngest in a found family household of shrine workers and spiritual mediums. He is the only one in his family that’s not inclined to the supernatural but everyone around him feels the supernatural more severely when he is around. Even though he can’t see the supernatural like his family members do, he helps out and enhances the supernatural during seances and other family business.
When Dazai and Chuuya meet, their opposing inclinations to the supernatural cancel each other out. But the same way their inclinations to the supernatural are opposing each other so are their personalities. Will they get over their differences to work together?
And then there is this little tiny detail that could shake up this potential research partnership. Chuuya has been told since he was a little kid that he would kill his true love with their first kiss. During a seance he enhanced a few months earlier, Chuuya managed to catch a glimpse of an actual ghost for the first time. The ghost of a boy who is supposed to die in the next 12 months. Lippmann told him that non-clairvoyants are only able to see the ghosts of the future-dead if they are the one to kill them… or their soulmate. The boys name? Dazai. And now that Chuuya has met him he is pretty sure he is going to kill him. Right?!

Oh thank god, I've been feeling pretty alone with that thought.
Arcane as a show lives on implications. It's super short by any meaning of the word, and what runtime is has it uses well. It's dense, symbolism everywhere and what we are shown is done with incredible craft and care. But the runtime is limited and what we're NOT shown is a lot. There's only so far you can get with implications and symbolism, and at some point what you leave out stops being artful and starts just being a plothole.
Arcane is incredible, and I love it dearly, but hell if season 2 didn't feel like a particularly embellished skeleton. It's a piece of art and it's wonderful, but I need muscles, tendons, organs, even a little fat on those bones! S1 was already lean as hell, but s2 felt like they trimmed some things they probably shouldn't have.
Your audience can only be expected to fill in the gaps so much. And the reasonable size of those gaps changes with target audience, and it's a tricky thing to get the size right. Too small and it will feel condescending, like the piece of media you're consuming is talking down on you. Too big and it will break immersion, or in the worst case people fall through entirely. Sometimes the gaps are even caused by financial constraints. I don't know what was the case with Arcane. It certainly would've benefited from having a handful of filler episodes, but those would've been extra. They're not necessary, per se. But some things, like as OP said Cait's "redemption", did not get the time and room to breathe and I think that's a real bummer
To those of y’all foaming at the mouth and spewing hot-n-ready racism towards Ekko’s VA about the “KluKluxKiramman” joke… you are not fun at parties.
Better yet, your PRIVILEGE is showing.
I’ve never really felt one way or another for Caitlyn as a character. Like Vi, I distrusted her because she was rich and a government official - because I understood how it felt to be viewed as less than (nevermind the fact that I am also a Black woman living in America). But I never disliked her or her romance with Vi, in fact, I found their class/societal differences the most interesting aspect of their entire relationship. I liked her for the most part, and them as couple, until S2.
Yes, Caitlyn was grieving her mother and yes, it was reasonable to put a hit out on Jinx after the Council Attack. Everything she did made sense, ESPECIALLY the things I didn’t like watching her do, and yet she still did them. She was a villain. Aside from leading the ultimate charge against Ambessa and losing her eye, I’m not convinced her “redemption arc” even happened. Why? Because she never had one.
Not redemption worth anything for somebody who started out with integrity and a true desire to help people, at the very least.
S2 is flawed for this exact reason. As breathtaking as the animation was, as heartrending as a lot of the scenes were, there wasn’t enough room for these characters to grow in a way that’s supposed to be satisfying for a final season. Caitlyn included.

i’m feeling messy. for the new ask game, 5 :)
for the choose violence ask game!
5. worst discord server and why
of COURSE you would choose to be this messy, you lil rat. <3 i will be kind enough to not name the server, it's a general Batfamily server i found on Disboard. most Bafam discord servers tend to be... anti leaning so it's something i sort of expect, but this one has a "ship advisory list", including ships you're not allowed to share media of (like fanfic or fanart) and if you discuss the ship you can be told to stop talking about it. and there were the typical ships you'd expect like Joker/Harley, BatJokes, and ofc a "no proships" umbrella ban. but some of the ships fucking baffled me. like canon ships were on this list. ships i to this day can't figure out why they'd be banned. the top ships of the list that just *got me* in terms of "... what is bad about this ship???" were
DickBabs
DonnaDick
Barry/Diana
Barry/Dinah
JayRose
Catwoman/Penguin
Talia/Bane
some of these i didn't know were shipped in the *first place* but even if they are, i can't fathom what's wrong with them. some of them are canon, normal ships? like what did JayRose do wrong. it's one of Jason's healthier relationships. and DonnaDick somehow gets me the most. my only guess is that antis heard them referred to as the Wonder Twins and thus decided the ship was incestual. bc otherwise how. why. i laugh everytime i think about DonnaDick being problematic.
on one hand i do think it's fucking hilarious of a list and it always makes me laugh bc i cannot fathom the mentality. but on the other hand it is sort of depressing that so many public social platforms for discussing the Batfam are becoming *so* anti-leaning that ships can be banned simply bc the mods of the server decided they were problematic for some unforeseen reason. it was the biggest depiction of "i don't like this ship so it's problematic" i've ever seen. like where does the goalpost stop moving? when does it somehow become problematic to ship things in general? it was wild even for anti stuff. truly the most baffling server i've been in.

I've come to the conclusion that loving young royals doesn't mean I can't be critical about it, maybe especially bc I love the show so much I have such strong feelings about it, good and bad and I can love parts of canon and agree with it and appreciate it but I don't have to love it all. I have accepted that it's okay if I don't accept the ending and I don't have to force myself to support it. It's okay to not agree with all of canon and it's okay to not side with all of the creators' intentions/views. Loving a show doesn't mean you have to take everything the writers say on face value and that's the only version that is allowed to exist. Canon isn't everything and fandom is about curating your own experience that makes you happy and not miserable. You don't have to dismiss canon in every aspect and ignore it entirely, that's certainly not what I want but there is a fine line between being canon respectful, allowing some parts to exist and sometimes, yes, you just have to say "fuck canon" and move on for your own sanity and wellbeing
#yrtalk#young royals#personal#especically in the first two weeks of a new release everyone is feelings lots of intense emotions ranging from ecstatic to angry#everything in between is a part of it and i know i'm also feeling very strongly about it right now#i always try to stay levelheaded and rational and see things from an objective pov and be diplomatic about discourse#i don't want any of what i say drift off too much into meaningless hate instead of the constructive criticism it's supposed to be#but when you feel so strongly about something and sometimes you really just wanna say yeah i fucking hate it lol#but i always try to explain why and give understandable arguments and not just blindly hate on something#for example - I'm aware there are fans who have some problems with s2 and don't love the season whereas i do and it's my fave#and there is a difference between expressing some criticism and justified concerns which you can understand where it comes from#and those who are just like 'oh it's a horrible season. it was so shitty and we should get rid of it' which is dumb hate and just not true#and i can't support people like that and take them seriously#i can have my own issues with s3 from a subjective pov which can also include some justified criticism as well#but also still acknowledge it as a truly good piece of tv media and the quality is top notch#and that's why you have such high expectations and have critique because it is so good and sets such a high standard#with that being said i understand ppl not wanting to see any critic about it if they are riding the high of happy wilmon endgame#but that doesn't mean that i can't express my own opinions on my own blog and i will continue to do so#and maybe one day i will feel differently and accept or even like the ending who knows#but it doesn't have to happen. it's fine if it does but it's also fine if it doesn't

Many clay shops will offer firing services if you're not ready to buy your own kiln. You may also be able to find a studio or collective that will let you purchase studio time, which generally includes space to work and access to larger, more expensive tools like wheels and slab rollers. These come with a community as well, which is simply fantastic. (I know that seems scary at first, but I promise it's not - everyone else is *also* there to make *their* weird little guys, and they're cool people with a wealth of knowledge to share.) My local studio is a non-profit, so pricing is really reasonable - membership costs me something like $70 US per year, which gives me discounts on already-low prices for clay, firing, and studio time.
I have an absolute wealth of options near me, from studios where you need to apply to get in and are expected to produce a certain amount of work, all the way down to shops where you can pop in, paint a piece, and come get it a week later. I just had to look for them. Try looking for classes first - a ceramics class is going to come with access to a workspace, and will generally have a list of recommended tools and materials. (Those depend greatly on exactly what you want to do, and the type of firing the studio does.) I would definitely recommend that approach if you want to do traditional ceramics, as a kiln of your own starts around 2 grand new.
Polymer clay is a much better option for the home sculptor, as you can bake that in a standard oven. It's also lightweight, making it good for jewelry. I haven't loved working with air-dry clay, as for me it's just too fragile when it's dry. However, there are a ton of other sculpting materials out there, and you can actually pair them together to get a final product that's more what you want. You can make a piece out of polymer clay, for example, use that to make a silicone mold, and then pour plaster, resin (wear a respirator please!), or even chocolate in there (if you buy a food-safe silicone.) You can use expanding foam to make squishy guys. You can use paper mache clay to make big, lightweight guys. It just really depends on what's easy to access in your area, and what strikes your fancy! (Also material safety - I can't work with any media that poses an inhalation hazard, as I don't have a "well ventilated space." I'm very sad about this.)
hi there! i LOVE your pottery so much. ive been thinking about making my own little friends for a ling time and i think it would be great for my mental health, but i have no idea where to start. do you have any pointers about what types of clay to look for or buy, whether you can fire at home or have to hve a real kiln, etc?
hi! and thank you! 😊
I 100% agree, making little dudes is good for us, it’s amazing how much it settles my brain
as for clay…
there is air dry clay, polymer clay that can be baked in an oven, and ceramic clay that needs to be fired in a kiln.
I can’t remember if I’ve tried air dry clay, but I used to use polymer clay, usually Sculpey. it’s got a few advantages over ceramic clay—mainly that accessing kilns and glazes is expensive. I’d suggest you start with air dry or polymer clay unless there’s a maker-space or pottery studio close to you that you can access.
good luck with your sculpting, I’d love to see what you come up with 😊
other sculptors please add your thoughts and recommendations!

I'll say this as someone who was raised muslim and was surrounded solely by other muslim people my entire life.
I know multiple women who don't wear the hijab but are devout muslims, and I know plenty of women who do wear the hijab but don't actually give a toss about adhering to religious doctrine in their daily lives. They don't do their daily prayers, they don't read the Quran often if at all, they don't concern themselves with studying Islamic teachings, let alone following them, etc. I wore a hijab all throughout middle school - high school, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone less muslim.
In my experience, most of these women still choose to wear the hijab because they're just used to it. They grew up wearing it and don't want to take it off. For some, it's lost its religious connotations and becomes everyday wear or a fashion statement. Is that offensive? I don't think so. Some might argue that it is, but that doesn't erase the fact that there are people in the world who are like this.
Muslim people aren't a monolith. They aren't all by-the-book religious. Muslims who contradict their own religious doctrine because they don't know, or don't care, are more common than you think. I keep hearing people, either pointing to the fact that Basira drinks alcohol and was a cop when they try to argue that Basira can't possibly be muslim.
I myself don't even headcanon her as a "religious muslim." I always headcanon her as being raised muslim and following the traditions expected of her, but she herself doesn't follow religious teachings nor partakes in religious activities outside of the ones that have become a habit to her. She's effectively a "cultural muslim." I always imagined that she still wears the hijab and celebrates eid because that's just how she grew up.
I feel iffy whenever I hear people who aren't muslim nor were they raised muslim try to argue that headcanoning Basira as muslim is "offensive" because she isn't the picture-perfect example of a muslim person.
I don't understand why fictional depictions of other religions like Christianity or Judaism get to have more leeway with how they portray a character who is Christian or Jewish. A Christian character gets to be as devout or as irreverent as they like. There's more diversity in how a Christian or Jewish character's relationship to their religion is depicted. I get that nowadays, in the west, they're trying to undo depictions of harmful muslim stereotypes that were especially prevalent in 2000s - 2010s media, but it's come to the point where it lowkey feels like over-compensating. Heaven forbid a piece of media or fanwork depicts muslim characters as anything but goodie-two-shoes, doctrine-abiding individuals, and islam as anything but a completely un-problematic religion. For one, it's just not true? Neither of them are, and I'm tired of people becoming defensive when a muslim character is depicted as being irreverent towards Islamic beliefs or genuine (and I want to stress *genuine*) depictions of muslim characters leaving the religion because it has caused them harm.
I feel that to not depict different people's religious expression as well as their individual relationship to their faith is a failure in representation. Let "bad Muslims" exist for christ's sake. Muslims who are born into a religion they don't actually care for exist. Muslims who don't embody their religious doctrine because they were never taught it exist. Muslims who pick and choose what parts of their religion they practice while leaving the rest exist! Muslim people who don't fit into the perception of what a Muslim ought to be aren't any less Muslim.
Honestly, it reminds me of how queer representation in popular media nowadays is very sanitized. I get that it's in order to combat harmful stereotypes said about queer people in the past. And I definitely think there is a place for this type of representation (for both queer rep and muslim rep), but it shouldn't be the only type representation deemed acceptable.
TL;DR: There's people irl who wear hijabs but aren't religious, and that's ok. Wearing a hijab does not a muslim character make. Muslim characters who contradict their religious doctrine are not inherently harmful because people irl are like that sometimes, cut them some slack, and it is harmful to imply that their (people irl) religious expression is bad actually.
Hijabi basira really makes no sense to me, it feels like the fandom just wanted to force representation onto the characters. Basira actively does things all the time that contradict islamic beliefs and it low-key feels a bit disrespectful, the hijab isn't just cultural wear, it's a religious symbol/garment.
(I'm not muslim for reference)
🗣️
yeahh i've never understood hijabi basira either . - deceit
