it's kind of funny when podcasts branch out into making youtube content too, and it's just filming their studio as they record
because it always makes their show nosedive in terms of quality
they focus so hard on making video content that the podcast is worthless. referencing and reacting to images and video clips through an audio medium is bad content.
no i will not watch the video, i pulled up a podcast for a reason [i want to listen to shit while i do other shit, not watch a fucking video]

it would also be fun to have the reveal happen as a result of rhythm sort of. snapping. hylia, he knows stopping the shadows is important and protecting people from the monsters they bring is part of the job and he knows damn well that he's not the only one missing home and the people there but part of him feels like his situation is worse than some of the others. he's not the only one separated from someone he loves, but he'd bet a hundred rupees he's the only one who might lose his chance at still having that love afterwards at least in the eyes of the law and their peers because as much as he cares for reti, he cannot continue the royal bloodline. sheila will always be the one the zora will think of standing by reti's side. even if he proves how much he cares and the people know the hylian is more than just a personal guard, that's all he may ever be in title. unable to show the full extent of his feelings in public, because it would be scandalous to be flirting with the king due to already having a queen and because of a disparity in rank. the longer he's away from home, the less time he has to prove himself to the zora people, and more importantly to the current zora king. and part of rhythm is terrified of it. even in sheila were to accept him as well, without the approval of the king, he would still be nothing more than a personal guard trying to court the throne. a personal guard that went back on his vow to protect the royal family of hyrule to serve the sea. a personal guard functionally unable to leave or find love because of the prince's gift, always able to be dragged back into the depths. he hates the thought.

out of context developmental things for this nonsense, pt. 16
[cw below the cut: canon-typical violence. wild meets chain 2 after they teleport to him during Sunset pt. 10. this is no longer exactly how things happen I think, I'm still sort of working it out...]
one of the sudden arrivals runs off after the horse, three are panicking, one's in a hood and not saying much, and--
oh. oh no. someone's bleeding. apparently they don't have any healing. one of the newcomers looks like a monster, though.
wild doesn't have a sword at the moment but he does have a stick. the moment he tries to strike, the injured one blocks the way.
it's hard to tell how much is blood.
"if you wanna hurt them..." the guy says, through pained breaths, barely supported by a spear. "you'll have to get through me."
it's at this point the injured guy collapses. more panic. the horse and the one who went after it come back and something bolts from the bag into the forest.
the one in the hood perks up but says nothing. then their head whips around and he sees red in their eyes.
"oh no" is all the stranger says. "the others are here."
the one who ran after the horse looks more annoyed. "please tell me you're joking."
"who are the others?" wild finally says something to them. "and who're you all, for that matter, and how did you teleport on top of me?"
"the others are shadows and we're heroes and we teleported with this!" one of the other creatures - a skull kid, if he remembers right - holds out a lute. "we were in a fight and one of them got a strong hit on link and--"
wild is already not having a great day and this really isn't helping, but he's not about to let someone down again. "we're not far to a town. there's people who can help there."
"really?"
he nods, not telling them he doesn't know for sure if they can help. if it's another case like twilight's... wild brushes off the thought and picks up this other link as best he can. "where're the shadows?"
the hooded one points towards where wild left the rest of his brothers.
they split off when they reach town. wild, other link, blue-hair, the fairy who was not a healer, and the small plant head into town, leaving red-hair, green-hair, hood, and the skull kid take the horse to meet up with wild's brothers and help deal with "the others".
the town group runs into the smith - his nickname of "four" makes a lot more sense now - who doesn't comment on the injured hylian or the broken sword wild tossed down before he ran off. no, his(their?) eyes are trained on hood, who isn't on the horse despite additional space. green hair looks back at the town group before snapping the reigns and they bolt off.
hood vanishes into the horse's shadow and four's eyes go wide. wider than wild felt his own going at seeing the same thing.
"are you sure there's space for him here?" blue hair asks, pulling wild's attention.
"positive," four murmurs, eyes fixed on the rapidly-disappearing horse.
"mhm."
"they why're we just standing around here?" the fairy gripes. "the sooner link gets help, the better."
the horse vanishes over the horizon and four finally gives the group full attention. "link?"
"that's his name, yes." the plant answers.
four's shoulders rise a little, but whatever he was going to say is dispelled with a twitch of the head. "are you... familiar with the shadow?"
"he's our friend," blue-hair says. "if it wasn't for him warning us, link would be dead right now."
the words sting in wild's ears.
"link isn't going to die."
four's words are as much reassurance for the strangers as they are for wild. even if he knows four is just as scared if the red one was anything to go by.
wild isn't going to let anyone die this time. not twilight, not any of his brothers, not this stranger.
he can't let anyone die this time.

Chapter 1: Aizawa and Yamada
Finally graduation day arrived. Aizawa held his UA high school diploma in his hands. This was a joyous occasion – or at least it should be. He should feel proud, which he did to an extent. Aizawa could not help but find the entire event nostalgic before it was even over.
He was a little proud he managed to pull through and finished school, graduating from the most famous hero school in Japan no less, but he also felt a deeply routed guilt. Yamada was joking and laughing with friends. Everyone was loud and happy, yet someone was missing.
Yamada tore Aizawa from his thoughts as he excitedly called out to him. Aizawa put on a teasing smile, silencing him with a quirk and vanished. It was meant as a joke but it also was great to escape his classmates.
Aizawa rolled his eyes at the endless amounts of texts Yamada sent him. He could practically hear the disappointed yelling while reading about how he had missed all the group photos. He didn't even bother to listen to the voice messages or pick his phone up when it rang. Aizawa went home and relaxed on his bed, knowing his foster parents wouldn't get home until later.  He wondered what would happen if he left right this moment without another word to anyone. His suitcase was already packed.
A new message lit up his phone's home screen. Aizawa reached for the device, only now bothering to look at the chat.
Yamada:
We're all going out to eat tonight. Will you come?
Aizawa:
No. I promised them dinner.
It was true. He had promised his foster parents a ‘goodbye dinner’ before moving out. It was the reason why he didn't leave right this afternoon. They were decent people and were kind enough to give him space and not pressure him into spending more time together, so when they asked if he would have dinner with them tonight he couldn't say no.
Yamada:
But you're leaving tomorrow morning, right?! When will we see each other again??
That was a good point. It still hadn't quite sunken in that they would not be back at school again soon. They wouldn't just leave school for a weekend or a holiday, but forever. Aizawa almost regretted not staying longer at school now, though he also knew that it wasn't his thing. Seeing everyone excited for the future and sad they would part would have been a little too much. He was happier alone in his bedroom.
Yamada:
Can I come over?
 Aizawa:
What about dinner?
 Yamada:
We meet later. I'll come over.
Well. Now that that was decided all there was left to do was to wait for the energetic blonde. Wherever Yamada had been, he couldn't have been too far from his home. He was out of breath when, ten minutes later, he rang the doorbell non stop until the door was opened for him.
"Come on in." Aizawa said and they headed over to the brunet's room, where they sat down on the bed. At least Aizawa sat down. Yamada flopped onto the mattress still trying to catch his breath.
"You could have walked here." Aizawa noted.
"Yeah, but I didn't want to miss any more time! Who knows when we'll see each other again!" Yamada said.
"You're the one who wanted to work in America." Aizawa reminded him.
"I knoooow." Yamada whined, but then a grin returned to his face. "But I'm sure it's gonna be awesome!" he said determinedly.
"Just don't start talking to me in English all the time." Aizawa said and realized that he really would miss Yamada.
During their first year at U.A. he did not get particularly close with anyone but Shirakumo and  Yamada. In their second year Aizawa had allowed himself to befriend Kayama a little. The cat Aizawa and Shirakumo found and gave to her had helped a lot in terms of befriending the girl who was a grade ahead of them.
After Shirakumo's death Aizawa made sure it stayed that way and distanced himself from others. He couldn't bear the thought of getting close to someone again only to loose them later. He looked at Yamada who lay on his back next to him on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Aizawa didn't want to think about how he would react if anything happened to the blonde.
"What train will you take tomorrow morning?" Yamada suddenly asked.
"Why? Don't tell me you want to meet me at the station." Aizawas tone was flat and seemingly uninterested.
"Ehhhh? Why not?!"
"You'll be hung-over." Aizawa stated.
"What? You really think us aspiring pro heroes will succumb to underage drinking?!" Yamada called out in mock surprise as if they hadn't- together in fact- gotten drunk before. Then he turned more serious. "I'd still come if you told me what time the train left." Yamada claimed.
"At 8:00 in the morning? Are you sure?" Aizawa said, a small smirk ghosting on his lips.
"Damn. That's early. Why are you torturing yourself like that?" Yamada asked, knowing how much Aizawa hated getting up early himself. Though, to be fair Aizawa seemed unhappy about getting up at any time. Insomnia was a real pain in the ass.
"I'll still come." Yamada said.
Aizawa just gave a low hum.
"You don't believe me! You'll see. I'll be there!" Yamada bumped his fist into Aizawa's shoulder.
"I didn't say anything." Aizawa said, raising his hands, showing his palms.
"Anyways." Yamada huffed. "You'll have to send me pictures of your apartment when you get there, alright."
"It's shitty. Nothing worth showing off." Aizawa protested.
"I don't care. I just want to see pictures."
"I'll send you pictures of the cockroaches I'll room with." Aizawa teased.
"Please don't!" Yamada looked horrified.
"You get those or nothing." Aizawa shrugged. This was nice. It was easy banter, just the two of them, nothing too overwhelming.
They fell into a comfortable silence, Yamada's eyes landing on Aizawa's packed suitcase.
Yamada had been surprised when Aizawa told him he would leave Musutafu the day after their graduation. He himself would travel to the US soon after the school year ended, but his flight went a week after graduation, giving him enough time to say goodbye to classmates and family. Well, Aizawa could count the friends he had on two fingers and he also did not have much family. Yamada did not know Aizawa’s host family particularly well but the few times he met them they seemed nice. Yamada could not help but wonder if Aizawa left so soon because he felt uncomfortable around them or if it had to do with Aizawa's general attitude and mood ever since their work study ended in their second year.
Yamada had a great support system at home but it was difficult mourning their dead friend himself and helping Aizawa at the same time. Shirakumo's death hit them both hard, though Aizawa definitely had a less healthy way of coping and far less support or people who didn't offer the support he needed which ended in him changing host families a month after their work study. It had been painful to watch Aizawa train in the Gym to the point he was so exhausted he fell asleep in their classes. Yamada had done his best to be there and watch Aizawa as often as he could, sometimes even training with him. It made them grow closer over time.
"You've got to take care of yourself." Yamada broke the silence.
Aizawa frowned, then looked away from the blonde. "You too."
"Hey, you missed out on all the pictures we took, let's take some now!" Yamada changed the subject. They wouldn't see each other in quite a while so they shouldn't just mop around. Aizawa was not impressed by the idea, but when Yamada sat up on the bed and sat right next to him he tilted his head towards the blonde as he held up his phone. Within minutes Yamada's camera roll filled up with new pictures of them both.
"You should leave soon, if you don't want to be late." Aizawa said eventually as he took notice of the time.
"I guess." Yamada said and sat up on the bed. "I'll see you tomorrow morning, alright?" He reminded Aizawa.
"Don't trouble yourself. It will be fine if you don't." He said.
The door fell shut and Aizawa stood alone in the quiet house. Dinner with his foster parents also was a quiet affair. He appreciated that. They did not try to get him to talk more than usual or try to talk him out of things last minute. They asked if he finished packing and if he still needed something, as if anything was worth the trouble of going out this late at night. There were plenty of stores with the same products where he moved. He let them know he had everything he needed and stayed seated at the table after dinner. They drank tea and let it sink in that things would be different from now on.
The night seemed to drag on forever and Aizawa barely slept. He got up early, even earlier than he had to, so he could make breakfast for everyone. He made his host parents favorite tea, put six slices of bread in the toaster oven and got out a pot to make miso soup. He didn't have to cook but even he could make something as simple as miso soup with tofu and seaweed. He set out the jam for the bread and got out some plates when his host parents came out.
Aizawa checked his phone when he got his suitcase after breakfast. No new messages showed up. The blonde sent him a few photos during the night, so Aizawa knew his classmates drank alcohol and stayed up until the early morning hours. He tried to ignore the slight pang in his chest. It was good Yamada had fun last night. He should rest now. They could talk over the phone later, he told himself pocketing his phone. He looked around the room one final time. It was clean and he already pulled the sheets off and put them into the washing machine.
"Remember you can call us anytime." His host mother told him as they stood in the entrance. Aizawa gave a slight nod to signal he heard her as he tied his shoes.
"Don't hesitate to ask for help." Her husband added.
"Thank you. For everything." Aizawa said, looking them in the eyes. He even gave both a hug before he stepped outside and pulled his suitcase to the station.
When Aizawa arrived at the nearest tram station, he realized he gave Yamada the time his other train would leave from the bigger train station. So even if the blonde intended to come he might have thought of the wrong place. He checked his phone but no new notifications showed up. Aizawa pocketed his phone as the tram came to a stop. The small tram was packed with people going to work and Aizawa shuffled to the door, pulling his suitcase as close as possible. He gave an apologetic nod to an older lady close to him. Aizawa focused his eyes outside the window looking at the familiar houses and stores passing by.
Finally the tram reached the central station. He arrived with some time to spare and checked his phone while he stood waiting at the platform. He felt a little forgotten but tried his best to push the feeling aside. He told Yamada not to worry about coming, so it wasn't fair to be mad at him for not showing up.
He could hear his train enter the station and then, even louder than the arriving train his name. "Aizawaaaaaaa!" He knew that voice.
Aizawa turned around to the direction the call had come from and saw Yamada running into the station. Several people held their ears and stared at the blond in irritation. He would have to get to this platform, but the train just arrived so there was enough time. Aizawa couldn't help but smile.
When Yamada finally came running down the stairs he looked like he would throw up any second. "The things I do for you." he huffed out of breath when he came to a stop in front of Aizawa.
"I told you, you didn't have to come." Aizawa said, but his smile gave him away.
"Please just tell me you are happy to see me so that it was worth coming." Yamada begged. He wore a t-shirt with an unidentifiable stain on it and one of his shoelaces was open. He was very pale and his unstyled hair hung in his face.
"Yeah. I'm happy." Aizawa gave in. "Thank's for coming." He said just as Yamada stepped away from him and threw up over the other side of the platform where no train was.
"Are you alright?" Aizawa asked, holding the other's hair back. Other people were stared more or less subtly.
"Ugh..." Yamada groaned. Aizawa glanced at the clock, "Wait here. I'll be right back." He said and jogged to a vending machine to get some water.
"Thank's." Yamada said after he washed his mouth out and took a sip. "Sorry about that." He said, rubbing the back of his head.
"Do you need money for a taxi back?" Aizawa asked.
"No, no! It's fine. Keep your money! I still have some." Yamada said. He pulled his walled out in demonstration. He knew Aizawa did not have much saved up and he doubted he suddenly accepted more from his host family.
"If you're sure." Aizawa said.
"Actually, let me pay you back for this." Yamada held up the bottle Aizawa just got him.
"It's just water." Aizawa shook his head.
"Alright. Thanks." Yamada put his wallet away again. They stood in silence for a moment after that.
"Well...-" Yamada tried to break the silence.
"I have to get on the train soon." Aizawa said at the same time.
"Ah...right. Well...I'll hear from you soon right? Send pictures!"
"Of roaches. Sure." Aizawa couldn't help but tease with a smirk.
"I got up and came all the way here and this is how you thank me?!" Yamada said so loud he winced himself. He hadn't even spoken that loud but with his head already pounding every decibel felt like too much.
"We'll see." Aizawa said and reached for his suitcase. Should he give Yamada a hug? His arms twitched, though he kept them at his side. "Get some rest." he said, taking a step back.
"You too!" Yamada nodded, wincing once more at his own volume.
"Thank's for coming." Aizawa said, standing in the train's doorway. "Bye."
"Bye." Yamada said a little quieter now, but with a smile on his face while he waved. The blonde was always so positive and energetic. It was nice. Aizawa waved as the door closed, then moved to look for his seat.
It was a window seat and he waved once more once he sat down. Yamada waved with two arms as the train began to move.
This was it.
Aizawa's chest felt tight as the train drove out of Musutafu. So many memories were connected to the city. Good, as well as bad. He gulped down the lump that formed in his throat and pressed his shirt's sleeve against his eyes. A new chapter of his life started with his move to Naruhata. There was no turning back now.

Writing Help - Genres
Tumblr media
As a writer, you really need to know what age group you intend to write for. Depending on the age, you may need to censor yourself or glaze over some heavier topics. Think of ATLA and how they never actually stated Jet died but instead insinuated it. Or, in YA novels when characters get close and the narrator skips over the most NSFW parts of the sex scene.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind I’m writing from my knowledge and what I remember reading at a certain age. Some research has been done for accuracy. I also don’t enjoy adult novels, particularly because they tend to be too much for me (...there tends to be lots of NSFW). With that said, forgive me if the examples aren’t amazing.
Who Do You Want to Write For?
Understanding who you want to write for makes the process much easier. If you want to write horror books for children because there aren’t enough of them, great. You can then proceed to write down your ideas and focus on the scare factor as well as how detailed you want your descriptions to be. Less is more, especially for younger kids. A single sentence in middle-grade horror can disturb even me. And trust me, most things don’t bother me.
Once you know what to write for, you can study your demographic more. By that, I simply mean what people your age are interested in. This isn’t saying you cannot write what you want to for who you want to write it for, but looking at the demographics will get your book(s) out there. For example, children might not enjoy or understand romance but gravitate more to adventure, comedy, slice of life, or superhero stuff.
What Do These Genres Entail?
You need to know what you’re getting yourself into when you write, so I’m going to give you a shortlist of genres and the content that is appropriate for each. Assuming most aren’t writing for children younger than 5, I won’t include those genres.
Remember to do your own research.
Children (5-8)
Due to childhood development, this genre varies quite a bit. I’ll generalize for simplicity.
Children between the ages of five and eight typically begin to independently read. Development varies, but using simpler language and including pictures aids them in taking in the content and understanding it.
From younger to older children: picture books, comics, short chapter books. It depends on their development and interests as well.
Even in picture books, these are usually longer than for younger children. They never exceed 100 pages and often have larger fonts.
Characters are usually animals or younger children (some with their parents).
Book examples: Pete the Cat, Poppleton, The Magic Tree House, Fantastic Mr. Fox
Middle Grade (8-12)
Pictures are still relevant sometimes, but it depends on the book. Most kids this age can visualize and don’t need much unless it’s something like fantasy or horror (Coraline has an edition with pictures as well as a disturbing graphic novel).
Slang begins to be included at this age and more mature language. Depending on the book, simple swears like “crap” or “damn” may be used. Insults begin to pop up as jokes and body humor are more appropriate at this age.
Sometimes romance makes its way into these books, but kids these ages still gravitate to things that aren’t so “gross.”
Middle-Grade books begin to exceed that 100-page mark and chapter book series with a logical plot and/or order comes about.
Characters are typically human, but supernatural creatures are popular in novels in this age group.
Book examples: Coraline, Ramona’s World, Because of Winn Dixie, Charlotte’s Web, Goosebumps
Young Adult (12-18)
You (typically) won’t catch pictures in a YA book, rather vivid descriptions. The only time pictures are in books is when maps are included. Pictures are an author’s choice.
YA is also a very large genre with varying developmental stages. Some books gravitate more to middle grade, others new adult.
The genres of books boom in YA because so much more can be done. You will catch books that are strictly romance, others crime, and even mystery.
Swearing is no longer avoided in YA novels. Characters will openly say fuck a thousand times and no one looks twice.
YA books tend to have deeper conversations than books for younger audiences. Killing off main characters isn’t looked down upon. These books also tend to speak about and represent sex, but never in grave detail. Characters will never get past removing clothing. The issue of sex in YA is also a controversial topic that is pretty interesting when looked into.
The themes of YA books are ones that teenagers typically experience. This could be gender, sexuality, self-worth, etc.
YA books are usually between 200 and 500 pages. It depends on whether it is a novella, stand-alone, or series.
Characters are in middle or high school, to which the readers can relate to. The home and parents are also relevant. Lots of talk about family life and such.
Book Examples: The Fault in Our Stars, The Book Thief, Divergent, The Hunger Games, The Catcher in the Rye
New Adult (18-25)
Once again, pictures are usually maps and such.
NA does everything a YA does in more detail. It’s the genre for people who like YA but want a bit more or don’t want to be held back as much. When your target audience doesn’t involve children, your creative freedom can run (nearly) wild.
Sex scenes are explicit. No one questions a sex scene in a NA, nor censors them in the way YA does. The narrator doesn’t have to glaze over this, rather describing the emotional and physical aspects of it as they would with anything else.
In comparison to YA, NA books tackle different themes. A NA book might not focus on growing up, rather the independence or struggle of having grown up. More adult things such as struggles for housing and finance might arise differently than it would to someone younger watching their parents struggle and going down along with them.
NA books tend to fall in the same page range as YA books. Again, very similar, but not the same. Think of YA as the bridge between YA and Adult. A little more, but not too much.
Characters are typically between the age range of the readers, but they don’t have to be.
Book Examples: A Court of Thorns and Roses, Lily and the Octopus, Red White and Royal Blue, Code Name: Verity, The Good Girl
Adult (25+)
Keep in mind that I do not read adult books...
I’ve never heard of photos in adult novels. Correct me if I am wrong.
Nothing is really off-limits in adult books. Anything you could ever want to write about can fit in this genre. Period pieces, historical fiction, horror, and autobiographies are often found as adult books.
Pieces are much more complex than those meant for younger audiences such as a YA or NA. They also tackle more difficult topics such as racism and abuse in more mature ways. It’s much easier to cover something like that in a book for older audiences than younger ones because you don’t necessarily have to simplify things. Focusing on the experiences of the character as if it were of coming of age isn’t as important.
The detail in adult books also changes in comparison to books for younger audiences. Whereas violence maybe something quick and easy, an adult book will drag it with vivid details. In Cirque du Freak, a middle-grade novel, the tearing of a person’s arm was described in two sentences in a way that made the reader imagine what an arm tearing would be like. In an adult book, you best be sure you’ll be reading about anatomy and immense amounts of gore.
Adult books can be short or extremely long. It depends on the genre once you hit adult books, as attention span isn’t much of a big deal anymore.
The characters in an adult book can be any age. It’s the content at this point and not who’s reading. An adult book can follow a tween/teen, an adult, or an elderly person. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is how you handle what is happening to certain characters. For example, if your character is a minor, you shouldn’t be writing graphic sex scenes.
Book Examples: The Help, The Girl on the Train, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Kite Runner, The Shining
Conclusions
I feel like I could write more in this post, but I won’t. It will be much too long if I say anymore. It’s really up to what you like and the way you want to execute it. As a newer reader, I find that I like YA novels but gravitate to the grittier or mature ones. I dislike sex scenes, so the intimacy in YA is just enough for me.
For my writing, I want to write a NA that can achieve what I like and in the way I enjoy it. In my reading endeavors, these past eight months, the Feverwake duology (my ever mentioned series...) has hit what I enjoy. While it is categorized as YA, the second book leans more toward NA and I love that. The way the author writes is also similar to the way I do, which is cool.
In the end, do what you love. Keep your audience in mind and remember that you don’t have to fit yourself into one genre. James Patterson wrote books for children and adults. Have I read any of his works? No, but I have family and friends who do enjoy or have enjoyed his work. You wanna write a book for your younger sibling? Do it. You want to write a book you need or want? Do it. You want to write a book that will make adults feel like children again? Do it.
You’re the writer and write for a reason. Keep writing a passion, not a chore.

Locks and Keys, Promises to Keep
TW: Reference to abuse and torture. Creepy whumper.
It was silent, other than calm breathing. Artemis lied on her back on the floor, letting the coolness of it ice the bruises and aches she felt. She stared up at the ceiling. Even if it was silent in that room, she could still hear the buzzing of her own thoughts in her head, echoing louder and louder the more she tried to silence them, to think of something else. She didn't even notice Santiago coming in before he called her name.
"Art?"
Her head turned towards him, and she pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Hey," she mumbled. He smiled and shut the door quietly, heading over and plopping down right next to her. Santi was the only Reaper who was close to her age, and wasn't a total dick. She'd known him for a while now, he was one of the only...friends she had. They were close, but distant. Siblings.
"Well you look just lovely, huh? I think the white brings out your eyebags. And your hair- What's going on with that?" He teased, nudging her gently with his elbow.
"Oh, shut up." She rolled her eyes at him, and he smiled wider. She came with an insult of her own. "I know you aren't talking shit when your teeth are as crooked as my sexuality."
"I love our chats." It was quiet for a second before Santi spoke again. "I heard what happened. With the Neoma girl."
"Hm? Oh...Yeah. Her." It was hard to get her out of her head. She was mumbled in with all the other thoughts, one of the only not-as-shitty ones.
"Why didn't you just tell them?" He looked over, with a raised brow.
She shrugged, mainly because she still didn't really have an answer. Or, none that she could say to him. She didn't want to endanger him with her own thoughts of defiance. Countless times she'd dream of running away with him, making their own life, but it was unrealistic. It was stupid. Home was here, and it would always be home. Santi had seemed to accept that, and part of her was jealous of that fact.
"I knew you were stubborn but not like that." When she didn't answer again, oddly (as she was usually up to talk), he kept talking and asked, "What do you think? About living here now?"
"I absolutely hate it. Even home with dad was better than this." She frowned and leaned back some, tilting her head back against the wall. "At least then I could take walks on my own, you know? Instead I'm stuck here. All the time."
Santiago gently reached for her hand. He didn't try and hug her, which was appreciated. Hugs just felt like traps now, even if she couldn't help but lean into them, fear always wrapped around her as arms did. A warm embrace only for cool fingers to dig into old wounds, hug you so you can't get away. Hugs didn't feel safe, but she longed for them, from the right people. People she could trust. She took his hand and sighed before she continued, "I mean, I guess the only good part is I don't have to worry about groceries anymore, right?" She tried to joke, and smiled softly. But he didn't really know what that meant.
Santi shrugged a little.
She would often sell herself and let people do whatever they wanted, and people would give money to her. She knew how to steal, of course. But if she was caught once it would mean very bad things. It was easier to trade. Still, not having to do that anymore wasn't good. Vincent let people do whatever they wanted anyways- But Santi didn't need to know that. He didn't know most things, and Artemis didn't want to tell him. He wasn't the right person to talk to, and besides, he had his own worries.
"I'm sorry," he said after a second. "Is your dad staying here too?"
"I don't know. Maybe.."
"Maybe Vincent will let you stay at my place with me?"
"That's nice, Santi, but it would never fly." He squeezed her hand tighter, and she went on. "I have a tournament today."
"Groups?"
"I hope not. I'm exhausted."
Santiago had never seen her fight before, and she was thankful for that. He knew how much she hated those things, and Artemis would hate for him to see her as entertainment. It was one of their promises.
She could remember it clearly. They were sitting under Vincent's desk, hiding. He was hiding from his boss, Spencer- of the Workers Unit. They developed weapons and suits for the Reapers, using information from the other Unit, the Researchers. Researchers conducted experiments on Mythics, the like.
They had sat under that desk, across from each-other. One of the first promises. It was forbidden for Santiago to see her fight. After they had made that promise, they had been dragged off, away from eachother.
Before that one, however, there was the very first promise. That they would stay together, no matter what. It was so easy to say that, to lock fingers together and promise on it. She looked towards him, and she saw him on that day. He was so small, his eyes bright. Even now his eyes were still bright. She wondered if she looked the same from then too.
He turned and looked over, and Artemis was whipped out of the memories. It was one she cherished. He sighed and smiled a little. "I kinda wish I was like you. People seem to like you here, y'know."
"What?" She turned to look at him, startled.
"Y'know, they're always training with you, they want to push you. You get all kinds of attention. They like you."
They like to use me. But she just shrugged and looked away, before he spoke again. He looked unbothered, but he kept talking.
"They enjoy you." Exactly. She hated that. "You fight good, they want to make you better.. You get attention from the boss himself, they give you weapons. They love you, Art. Just.. sometimes you don't listen. I kinda wish I got that attention."
She said nothing and just looked down. He was right. It was true. She did get a lot of attention.. Maybe they were just trying to make her better, in some way.. She didn't have time to dwell too much on it before he said something.
"Here- I have some oranges I stole from the kitchen." He fished into the pocket of his pants and took a few out, passing them to her. She took one and let go of his hand to start peeling it.
"Thank you.. Hopefully these ones aren't moldy." He sighed heavily.
"I only did that once. When are you going to let it go? You already got back at me, you threw up all over me, remember?"
"That was just karma." She smiled at him slightly. It felt weird to smile, it felt like someone was just pulling the corners of her mouth up to force her to do so.
Santi nudged her again, leaning against her and smiling. He pushed his head against the side of her face, making her lean to the right slightly. She turned and flicked his forehead, sniggering.
The two just sat with each-other, and Artemis allowed him to braid her hair. As he did so he told her about what he was working on. Santiago was part of the Workers, and he told her about the new suits they were working on, and how soon the Researchers might be able to extract powers from the Mythics. He sounded excited- Artemis tried to share it but...
"Santiago!" A voice called distantly from outside.
"Ah, shit. Thats me-"
"No, really?" Artemis glanced back at him and he stood, letting go of her hair. "Go on, you'll get both our asses kicked if you're caught. Mostly mine, since you're the good one."
"Thats not true. They like you better." He raised an eyebrow, and then stood. He didn't know all they did to her. And what he did know, it was excused. It was her fault, a punishment for her actions. Truly, it was.
Artemis scoffed and pushed at his leg slightly. "Go, then. I'll see you later, mkay?"
He moved forward and grinned at her, pausing to flick her in the head. "Adios." He waved and then slipped out the door, and Artemis was left alone again. She slumped back against the wall, gingerly touching the braid he had made. She waited, this time dreading when the door would open again.
---
It had been a few days, and Artemis stood in the bathroom, preparing for another assignment. Vincent had explained to her what to do, and her main focus was to kill Paige. It was a fancy event, more or less a trap. The Researchers would be talking to some important scientists, so that way they could occupy their lab, at a fancy dinner one of them was hosting. They had invited Vincent, as well as the co-bosses, Esteban and Spencer. They could take one plus person each, and sadly, Artemis was that person for Vincent.
When she had asked how they were going to get Paige there, he had simply said he would leak information that Artemis would be there. She didn't know how, but she was in no place to argue. Just get the job done.
She stood in front of the mirror, her hands fumbling with the tie. Since there weren't many girls involved with the reapers, they mainly just had men's clothes. She stared at her reflection for a moment and just felt disappointed. She had a bruise developing on her jaw, and her eyes were sunken in and drooped. She looked exhausted, hurt. Weak. She wanted to kill the person in front of her, wanted to bash her head into the mirror.
Artemis glanced down and tied the tie, throwing on the coat a second later. She let her hair spill down over her shoulders. It was almost to her waist by now. Paige's hair was longer. For a moment she was no longer in that bathroom, but up on the rooftop with that girl. Her hand went up to her neck as she remembered the cool blade pressing against her throat. She could see Paige, panting with bright eyes, her shadowy hair moving in flow with the wind, wings curling.
With a soft sigh she picked up her dagger and slipped it inside her coat and the image was gone again, a barrier blocking it away inside her mind. Still, she tried to shake away the girls' eyes. Her eyes held honesty deep inside their blue.
She opened the door and Vincent was there. He turned and looked her up and down. "You look nice," he said politely. Artemis mumbled a pathetic thank you, before Vincent placed his hands on her shoulders and turned back. "Your hair is very long..It's very pretty," he said with a smile, combing his hands through her hair. She was tense, waiting for him to pull her hair and wanting nothing more than to slap his hands off of her. Of course, she just stood still and just stood there tensely, unmoving.
"I like it," he mumbled. He continued to smooth down stray hairs on her head, fixing the imperfections. She wanted nothing more than to chop it all off, then and there. She hated the touch but he was also making her hair oily. He took a white ribbon from his pocket, tying it in her hair.
She glanced into the mirror again, just for a moment. The dagger felt heavy, pressing against her body. Her hands burned, burned with the blood she was about to spill.
Who was that? Was that really her, staring back at her?
She didn't know.
Vincent smiled at her reflection, patting the side of her face. "There, see? Perfect."

Lucky 7 | Steve Harrington x Reader – pt. 6
Tumblr media
I had no idea what I should name this chapter so I just spit something out. Also, I realized I haven’t been putting in a lot of Seven and Steve so I made sure to throw in a little flashback of them having a little moment at the beginning of summer ;^) hope you guys aren’t too bored with the development, I’m just trying to build the story up before I start diving into more flashbacks! Don’t worry though, the next chapter, chapter SEVEN, will definitely be long and have a lot more Steve x Seven for obvious reasons ;^)
It was time. Sure, it was spontaneous and definitely ill thought-out, considering she’s only had about five minutes to think of a plan. But she had no choice, there might not be another opportunity like this.
Chapter 6: It’s A Matter Of Time And Ice Cream
It was time. Sure, it was spontaneous and definitely ill thought-out, considering she’s only had about five minutes to think of a plan. But she had no choice, there might not be another opportunity like this. Seven made sure to memorize the path of the laboratory, curtesy of that photographic memory of hers. Next, she just had to wait for the man in the white coat to return - in which one did not a few minutes later. No sunglasses. It wasn’t the same man as before, but the difference made the chances of her plan succeeding a tad higher. She strode up to the glass wall, she learned from the stranger that it was called a two-way mirror, she could see them, but they couldn’t see her. Perfect. Seven knocked against the surface harshly, catching both the stranger and man in the white coat off guard - both looking in the direction of the sound. The employee probably assumed the sound came from a fellow coworker trying to gain his attention, not having the slightest clue that it was their guinea pig was one on the other side. It turns out two men in the white coat made a grave error that day. Seven immediately reached out for his tendril, feeling as it found its way into her hand. Grasping it tightly, it was his turn to be a prisoner. She uttered a silent command, causing him to quickly turn on his heel, opening the door to the room to head to her own. She heard as a lock clicked and was graced with his presence as he paved stood and gave her room to pass through. Seven’s pace was fast and deliberate, yet kept her wits about her incase a new coat wearer came into view. Eventually one did, and the look of suprise he wore vanished when the man she controlled knocked him out. After making her minion drag the unconscious individual in a nearby storage closet, she walked behind him this time as they continued their journey to the exit. Thankfully, the biggest and strongest man in the white coat had been the one to step in that stranger’s room. Seven felt guilt settle into the pit of her stomach, but the mixture of adrenaline and anger fueled her as she carried on. A few more coat wearers faced the same fate as the first, and it wasn’t long until they finally reached the metal door that separated her from the outside world - from her freedom. Her minion fished out a set of keys from his pocket, using each one to turn and unlock the slits in the wall next to the metal. She had seen in the stranger’s memories that anyone allowed access to the lab must place their hand on the black rectangle positioned on the metal surface.
And so, her minion complied as she gave him the command. Seven watched the black screen flash green when he pressed his hand against the surface, she would have been more curious if she wasn’t currently trying to escape.
The sun blinded her when she first stepped beyond the door. Seven felt the grass beneath her feet nestle between her toes and the blue sky above once her field of view began to clear. The fresh air, the sound of birds crying in the distance, all these sensations finally her own – she wasn’t experiencing them through the memories of stranger.
However, she didn’t have time to embrace the outside world just yet. Feeling like she needed him no longer, she commanded the man in the white coat to go back inside that prison that held her for so long – making sure he locked himself inside while she kept the keys in her hand.
Once the metal seal was shut, she blinked – effectively letting go of the rope that tied her to her minion. Then, Seven dropped the keys and began to run. She ran as fast as her legs would allow. It wasn’t long before she stopped in front of some sort of giant ball held up by tall metal columns, her breathing sporadic as she needed a moment to rest. She noticed how her own ability to run long distances was significantly lesser than that of the seasoned athlete whose memories she once viewed.
Her focus shifted to what loomed before her. Tilting her head in confusion, Seven walked around the strange structure to read: “Hawkins Water Tower.” However, her inspection was cut quick when the sound of alarms going off in the distance reached her ears.
She bolted, not knowing exactly where her legs were carrying her –
But it didn’t matter as long it was far, far away from hell.
Seven was nervous about this. She didn’t find it appropriate to show up on a stranger’s doorstep, but the three teens were left with no choice other than to find out what was going on inside. Being the adult in this situation, it was Seven who wracked her knuckles against the wooden door. Neither of the three expected it to open voluntarily, much less only mere seconds after Seven knocked.
“Oh, hello!” They were greeted by a much older woman, who gave them a confused, yet welcoming smile. “Uh,” Seven forgot how to speak for a moment, where they at the right house? “Are you girls lost?”
“No, no, um-“ Max suddenly cut Seven off. “We’re looking for Billy, I mean, Heather. I mean Billy and Heather.” The redhead’s cheeks flushed. “Together.” She finished.
The woman’s eyebrows furrowed as she processed the situation, El quickly piping in before they could be asked to leave. “Need to see, Billy.” She said slowly, gesturing her head to Max. “Stepbrother.” An “O” forming at the woman’s lips before it was quickly replaced by another smile. “Come on in then, we were just about to start dinner.”
Seven walked in first, her eyes scanning the room for any suspicious activity – but she found none. All she saw was a normal living space, like that of her friends’ homes but not so much as her father’s, all of it tidy without a hint of anything sinister going on. Despite that, none of the girls let down their guard.
“In there!” Their host sing-songed, gesturing around the corner – and around that corner was Billy, sitting across the dining table with a fork and knife in either hand. He had an amused smirk on his lips as he listened to the individual across from him, who was an older man – assuming to be their welcomer’s husband.
The conversation stopped when the gentleman’s eyes landed on the three figures that came closer. Seven noticed how Billy’s face lit up as his attention switched to them.
“Max!” He said cheerily, wiping his lips with a cloth napkin before setting down his utensils. “What brings you here?”
“Who?” The man to Billy’s side asked, his expression contrasted his partner’s with how the corners of his mouth tugged downwards into a slight scowl. “My stepsister!” Billy beamed, turning his attention from the man’s back to Max and her squad.
The back and forth was cut short when El suddenly spoke;
“Where is Heather?”
“Here!” The girls quickly turned around – the person they’d been looking for standing happy and alive on the staircase behind them.
Seven couldn’t make sense of it.
-
A Month Prior
Seven wasn’t a fan of this heat. It was even worse when she slid into the death trap that was her father’s car, immediately turning on the engine to summon the sweet, sweet, breeze of cold air even before El could catch up to join her.
The sound of the passenger door opening and closing reached her ears, following the noise of a seat belt being dragged and click into its holder. Seven turned her head to see El beaming at her.
“Excited.”
Seven nodded, “Me too.”
The drive to the new mall was short, it took longer just to find a parking place. Seven eventually had to settle for a spot that resided at the end of the lot. She dreaded the walk to the building and back, knowing the summer sun would have her melting in seconds.
When the two finally stepped behind the automated glass doors to the mall, Seven was instantly relieved to feel that cool air embrace her. Oh, and she was also happy to see the smiling faces four younger teens that greeted her, and the big grin on El’s features as she embraced her boyfriend.
“Took you two long enough!” Lucas joked, Max then flicking his arm to silence her impatient partner. “Are you guys ready to go eat?” The redheaded asked, “Looks like you could stand for some cooling down, Seven.”
She nodded, wiping the sweat beginning to drip from her brow. God, she looked like mess. She would opt to go to the restroom to fix herself up if it wouldn’t incite some knowing looks. The kids were already onto Seven by the enthusiasm she had days before when she asked to meet up at the mall and eat at Scoops Ahoy. She really needed to learn how to master the art of subtly.
Seven could only pray she didn’t look like a sweaty rat as she followed the kids to said restaurant. However, her anxiety was doubled once they made their way inside. Behind the counter, they were greeted using the restaurant slogan by a girl with short hair. The girl smiled at them.
“What can I get for you guys?” And then, the metal door to the girl’s right swung open, revealing the actual reason why Seven wanted some ice cream so badly. “Ahoy- oh, hey shitheads.” Steve spoke, his lips taking the form of a grin before he noticed Seven’s presence.
“And their beautiful babysitter.” Seven’s face heated up, the smirk he wore fueling her racing heart. “Pfft.” His coworker snorted, “You’re the master of subtly, huh Harrington?” The kids laughed at this, but Seven couldn’t help the pang of, of – jealousy? In her chest as she watched her favorite goofball begin to bicker back and forth with the girl whose name was revealed to be Robin.
Seven didn’t know what came over her, but when Robin made eye contact, she harshly squeezed the tendril in hand – desperate to know what her competition was thinking. However, Seven’s temper was quickly extinguished when she heard –
“No way is this chick gonna fall for that dingus. She’s too cute for him.” If Seven didn’t know better, she’d think Robin knew her mind was being read for she continued to flash toothy smile at her. “I would kill to have a girl like her.”
Seven let go of the rope, a mixture of relief and guilt flooding her system. However, she forced herself to smile through it, she didn’t want Robin to think she was rude. However, the young woman’s expression shifted to concern not moments later.
“Hey, hey, are you okay?” She asked, and Seven quickly panicked – her nose was bleeding. She wasn’t wearing long sleeves, she needed to find a napkin, and fast. “Here.” She heard Robin say before she turned to see a napkin being offered to her from behind the counter.
“Oh, thank you.” Seven took it from her, she felt the shame overtake her as several pairs of knowing eyes watched while she wiped the blood from her nose. Before Robin had the chance to question the sudden tension, Steve stepped in to save the day.
“So, what’ll you guys be having?” He began, a smile forming as he met Seven’s gaze beneath her lashes. The kids began talking excitedly, some feuding over which flavors were the best. While they waged an ice cream war, Steve quietly asked;
“Separate?” Referring to who’s paying. “Oh no, I have enough for all of them.” Seven replied as she began fishing for the wallet in her jeans pocket. “Ah, ah, ah-“ Steve waggled his finger at her, “I can’t allow that, not when you’ve so graciously filled in for me as these brats’ babysitter while I’m being enslaved here for the rest of the summer.”
Seven smiled, and Steve’s gaze softened at the sight. “It’s on me.” He said, and it was only then that Seven noticed the outfit he was wearing. “Thank you, Steve.” She spoke, eyeing him up – and Steve didn’t fail to notice. He revealed at the notion of her checking him out, maybe now was the perfect time to mention that concert he had an extra ticket to on Saturday-
“I really like your uniform.” Seven interrupted his thought - embarrassment took shape of a blush as it blossomed on his cheeks. She noticed immediately, thinking;
‘Oh God, what did I say?’
-
“Are you done yet?” Steve’s voice sounded at the bottom of the stairs, Dustin rolled his eyes as he continued to search for any more flashlights or other survival gear that could be hiding in the Harrington attic. “In a minute!” He yelled back.
Steve groaned, his annoyance grew by the minute – and it skyrocketed when he heard the house phone go off. Marching towards it, he put the phone to his ear and said “Harrington household.” He was shocked to hear Robin’s voice on the other line.
“What the hell are you doing answering your phone, dingus? What happened to your date with Seven.” Steve’s stomach dropped. “Something came up, but why the hell are you calling me?” She sighed, assuming the worst about what could have happened at the movie. “Manager wanted me to call and ask if you could come in – some major golf club decided to reserve the restaurant at 10 pm. Who does that?”
He sighed, could this night get even worse? “Yeah, sure.” Steve reckoned if he and Dustin were heading to the mall anyways, he might as well get paid for it. He told Robin he’d be there in few minutes before hanging up and calling to Dustin who was making a lot of loud, unnecessary noises as he continued to throw junk around as he searched the attic.
“Worked called, looks like I got to put on my uniform.”

I went to see the "Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution" premiere at Anime-Expo!
Hey, everyone! I just returned from Anime-Expo where I was lucky enough to've seen the world premiere of the 22nd Pokemon film, Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. Wanted to share some of my experiences on it!
I'll start with some information about the event, before going into details on the movie itself. First of all, this was (as far as I understand) the very first time any Japanese-language with English-subtitled Pokemon animation has been officially (and legally) released in North America (and possibly outside of Japan in general?) so I wanted to make sure I attended this pretty momentous occasion. The event itself was handled very well by the staff and there was a great bilingual host who oversaw the whole thing and really hyped up the audience. After the film screening was finished, the three related guests of honor, Kunihiko Yuyama (co-animation director), Motonori Sakakibara, (co-animation director) and Rica Matsumoto (Japanese voice actress of Satoshi/Ash) were brought to the stage to answer a few prepared questions and audience questions. Afterward, Rica Matsumoto performed "Mezase Pokemon Master" live for the audience, which was an absolute treat. Finally, after the reveal of Armored Mewtwo's upcoming appearance in Pokemon Go, we took a "family photo" with a mascot Pikachu making an appearance! The whole thing was a total blast.
Some key points involving the Q&A session:
Rica Matsumoto was in particular very excited to visit LA, especially because she had worked on the Japanese dub for Beverly Hills 90210 and got to visit the real location after wanting to for so long! In addition, she was so taken aback by the audience's enthusiasm for "Satoshi", knowing how they were far more familiar with "Ash", but felt a strong connection to them through the character and Pokemon in general. The two animation co-directors Mr. Sakakibara and Mr. Yuyama shared similar comments, being blown away by the audience's emotional reaction. The screening also gave them major nostalgic flashbacks to first working on the original over 20 years ago. They were also so grateful.
I was fortunate enough to be chosen to ask the first of the three audience questions. First, I thanked them for giving us the opportunity to see this film in its original language with subtitles, as this was a tremendous honor to begin with. After mentioning that the American fandom was very appreciative for the English dubbed version of the TV series and movies, I asked if they would be able to give us any other future opportunities to see ANY other Japanese-language Pokemon animation down the line. Mr. Yuyama said they have plans, with Rica Matsumoto following with "Count on it!!" Nothing further than that, but definitely a good sign!
The next question from the audience asked about a trailer featuring footage involving what appeared to be an older version of Misty, why it was cut and what its involvement was to the movie's early stages of development. Mr. Yuyama simply responded with (paraphrasing, here) "While that was meant to show the image of an adult, the character in question was not actually an older version of Misty. The haircut is very similar though, I can see why you would make that mistake!". Rica Matsumoto adds (again, paraphrasing) "It just goes show that there's so many pretty girls in Pokemon, it's easy to mistake them for each other sometimes!" (Personal note: obviously this is sort of 'dodging the actual question', but it's likely they either weren't allowed to go into detail as to what that early trailer was all about, or possibly forgot about the details since it had been so long ago.)
The final audience question asked about what led to the decision to re-do the original film with CG animation. Mr. Sakakibara mentioned that they had wanted to do a CG Animated Pokemon film for a long time, but thanks to the collaboration with the 3D animation studio they worked with (I've forgotten the studio's name unfortunately, sorry!) they were able to finally make it happen. They chose Mewtwo Strikes Back as the experiment piece in order to try pushing the original character animation even further with the expressiveness and emotion.
I'm sure fans of her know this already, but Rica Matsumoto is an absolute ROCK STAR on stage. She loved teasing the audience and getting them amped up, commanding us to get louder and louder! "When I say 'Pokemon', you say 'Getto da ze!'" was a real highlight. To her, "Mezase Pokemon Master" is THE defining Pokemon song.
Next, I'll talk about the film itself. To those of you who don't want to be potentially spoiled on some of the differences between this and the original movie, skip this part!
The subtitle track for the film used all of the official English names of all characters, including the humans, Pokemon creatures, attack names, locations and even the nicknames of the guest characters' starters ("Bruteroot" and "Shellshocker"). For the most part, the translation was very close to the original Japanese dialogue, but there were definitely a few liberties taken at times. Team Rocket's motto was changed to reflect the English adaptation ("Prepare for trouble and make it double" etc.) along with referring to Ash/Satoshi as "Twerp" (instead of "JARI-BOY!"). There was also a very obvious 'joke' on the translator's part involving a new scene where Brock/Takeshi hits on Neesha/Sweet, proclaiming something about his "jelly donuts" (ending in the ol' Misty-dragging-him-away-by-the-ear gag). As this scene had completely new dialogue, I wouldn't be able to cross-check whatever the 100% accurate translation would be off-hand. A couple other liberties taken (in a way), were that certain lines throughout the movie were word-for-word 'translated' as lines from the original English dub of Pokemon: The First Movie. Thankfully these were rare, but one that definitely sticks out was the "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you DO with the gift of life, that determines who you are." at the film's climax. Lastly, Mewtwo's words asking "Was I created by God?" and the scientists' response, were adapted in the subtitles as "Was I created by nature?". (Personal note: Likely this was to avoid flat-out religious references.)
The film begins with Dr. Fuji and his crew retrieving the Mew fossil from the ancient ruins. The "Birth of Mewtwo" sequence involving Amber/Ai is NOT included in this version of the story; the following scene leads directly into Mewtwo's awakening in the tube, to which the movie plays out as you remember it.
Dr. Fuji's laboratory is tremendously redesigned, but the same events transpire.
Mewtwo's armor is, as you've noticed, also fully re-designed. We see many re-directed (in terms of cinematography) scenes from the sequence of his servitude to Giovanni/Sakaki, including Gary/Shigeru's from-behind cameo. The main element of difference in the armor's usage is, just before blowing up the Team Rocket base upon defying Giovanni, it transforms into a binding 'prison' sort of state, to keep Mewtwo confined if he ever fought back...of course, he breaks it easily and flies off, just as before.
The first sequence where we see Ash, Misty/Kasumi and Brock starts a little earlier than in the original, showing Ash more excited and offering to help set up the table for lunch. It then cuts to slightly later where he's tired and slumped over the table. The Pirate Trainer "Raymond" appears again (still with all his glorious Engrish), now with a slight redesign involving bigger hair and the theme song battle sequence plays out. Worth noting, during the 3-on-1 against Pikachu, his Golem is replaced with a Drowzee. (Personal note: Likely to circumvent the "Thunderbolt should be ineffective against a Ground-type" argument.) We also see glimpses of Mewtwo and the mind-controlled Nurse Joy viewing the battle. Just before Dragonite shows up to deliver the invitation, we also see a bit of the gang's other Pokemon used in the movie: Vulpix, Psyduck, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charizard, eating Pokemon food.
LOTS more trainers in the dock scene. The pier master Miranda/Voyager actually speaks of Wingulls showing signs of how bad the storm is, warning everyone again. We see a few more trainers attempt to travel to New Island, including one who tries Surfing on their Kingler and another who is carried by their Scyther...neither of them make it, along with whoever tried flying with their Fearow like in the original. RIP.
The Vikings-the-mostly-live-in-Minnesota are replaced with an equally-funny costume theme of the Team Rocket trio as some tourist-trap sailors utilizing a Lapras-shaped ferry service. Brock comments on how conveniently they showed up and they all get on. We then get a very Disneyland 3D Attraction-style sequence of the two trios riding through the storm before it crashes and Misty sends out Staryu to try and save the day. Another extended sequence of Ash, Misty and Brock clinging for dear life to Staryu plays out, including a really gorgeous orchestral arrangement of...the Sun & Moon Wild Pokemon Battle theme, of all things!
Ash and the others meet the other guest trainers. This is where the short added scene of Brock hitting on Neesha is added.
In general, while the grand majority of the things that happen in each scene are the same as they are in the original, a lot of the animation is expanded upon and really pushed in terms of expressiveness. Often this makes them longer than how they were before, but it's definitely paced out properly to fit with the adjustments they made.
The battle arena sequence plays out and all 3 of the battles between Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard Vs. their super-clones are extended with new fight choreography and additional attack exchanges, including with later-added techniques like Energy Ball and Leaf Storm. This scene also features a completely new background music track from the one used in the original film (later used quite a bit in the anime).
The sequence of Mewtwo capturing all of the humans' Pokemon plays out, also with new background music as opposed to the original. A few new shots of the trainers trying to guard their Pokemon from being captured are added.
After the super-clones emerge, Mew appears to save Ash from being splattered against a wall, the Pokemon and their clones brutally beat each other, now with new sweeping camera angles and new music instead of the original.
When Ash rejoins Misty and Brock after climbing down from the castle, a few bits of dialogue are slightly played around with, but leads to the same untimely demise. Some new DBZ-esque glow effects are applied to when Ash is struck by the two psychic blasts and his turned-to-stone state is a bit more like crystal. Pikachu trying to Thundershock Ash back to life lingers a bit more, to show the desperation in Pikachu's attempt. When the other Pokemon begin shedding their tears, their actual sounds aren't heard and the scene is silent minus the background music.
The memory erasure happens yet again, sending everyone back to the docks. From just after Ash sees Mew flying in the sky, commenting on it, up through Team Rocket's sign-off on the now-abandoned New Island, the orchestral arrangement of the Pokemon Red & Blue Credits theme plays. For the movie credits, we're treated to a new remix of "Kaze to Isshi Ni" (featuring Shokotan) along with some 2D paintings of Ash, Misty and Brock traveling. One shows a flock of Wingull near the dock area! At the end, we see Mewtwo and the clones flying off to what appears to be Mount Quena from the "Mewtwo Returns" TV special.
Finally, as is always the case, a very short teaser of the "Pokemon 2020" film, showing a 2D-animated Pikachu in the style of the Sun & Moon series.
There might have been some things I missed, but that's everything I could recount! If you have any other questions, I'll try and answer them as best as I can. To anyone else who was there for the screening, feel free to add anything else you like! Overall, highly recommend folks who enjoyed the original Mewtwo Strikes Back movie to go see this when the English version comes out!

CHAPTER 2:
“Who are you?”   It was laughable how this question was always coming back to him in whatever life he was living. Laughable how different the species of the universe could be, and yet how identical they were. They hated the emptiness, the unexplained. They need to name things, to name people. That was an obsession, a necessity. He had given many answers to this question. Many lies and many truths for many reasons. The only reason he had to lie today was for his safety. He didn’t like the place, didn’t like the staff. He was distrustful. There was an atmosphere here that he would qualify of unhealthy though he couldn’t quite identify why it made him so uneasy.   “I’m the Doctor. What about you?” “Doctor who?” “Ding ding ding, we have a winner for the jackpot.”   This joke never got old and never failed to make him laugh. The person in front of him didn’t find him any funny though. He was only worsening his current condition. They already thought he was crazy. He couldn’t deny it. When he had woken up after fainting in that street, he was in a tiny room with cracked white paint. He was laying in an old bed that was grating every time he moved. By his right, there was a small window with bars and a blind partially shut. Under that window, there was a small wonky table. There were two doors. One was facing the window, the other was facing the bed. One was locked, the other was leading to a bathroom barely large enough for a shower booth, a sink and toilets. He was stuck in this room for as long as whoever locked him here would want to keep him. With a sonic screwdriver, he might have been able to get out. But he had nothing. Not even a shoelace. That’s how he had understood where he was. A mental hospital. Not a surprise. Later that day, a nurse had come in and he had followed her obediently. He had been introduced in the office of a certain doctor Nash Grieve. His therapist. He had sat down and listened o her as she explained to him that he had been found babbling incoherent things in the streets. The police had brought him here. He had been so defeated that day, so down to have failed that he accepted to be locked in this building until he was better. The medical staff was coming to him every now and then to check on him. He wouldn’t be out of bed. Sometimes, they would sit down and talk to him for a couple minutes. He would say nothing, just stare at the ceiling as if it was holding the answers to his questions. He would follow the group he was assigned to when it was time to eat. All of this for a full week and now, he was back in this office and playing dumb in front of the doctor Grieve. But the feeling if uneasiness he was feeling in this place gave him the strong urge to run away. Which he couldn’t.   “You looked better than a couple days ago.” “I’m feeling better. Your staff has taken great care of me.” “They are concerned about you.” “Why’s that? I don’t cause troubles.” “Indeed you don’t.”   The doctor Grieve leant back in her chair and crossed her hands on her stomach. She fixed him silently for a moment. It was making him more uncomfortable than he already was. This woman wasn’t impressive though. She maybe was in her fifties with dark brown hair turning to grey on her roots and temples. She was thick-set but not fat. There was something motherly about her. She couldn’t be a bad woman. So why was he detecting something wrong in here?   “They gave me the police report of that night.”   He gave a nod. It had been mentioned already. He remembered facing a police officer and losing it but he didn’t remember what he was saying. Something that had caught their attention. Something that was justifying his presence here. But he was better, so it would be logical to let him go. Which wasn’t gonna happen. If the medical staff had concerns about him, they would keep him in this hospital to be sure he wasn’t a danger for anyone, himself included.   “The blood test they ran on you showed that you were negative to drugs and alcohol. Yet, you were babbling about something being in your head and in someone else’s head. A woman named Rose. You’ve added: ‘I need the Doctor. The Bad Wolf isn’t gone’.” “Oh. I see. That’s embarrassing.”   He had done this dream numerous times these past days. It wasn’t really a dream. It was a memory. He remembered it fully now: he had kissed Rose Tyler on Satellite 5 to take the Bad Wolf out of her head and save her. That was the original plan. And it had gone wrong. Really, really wrong. He hadn’t felt it immediately. That was only when he woke up in the middle of that street in Manchester that things had appeared clearly to him and from that moment, he had known that he had to get to Rose to the new Doctor and tell them about the situation. However, he couldn’t get to Rose – thanks to Jackie who probably hated him more than ever now – and the Doctor hadn’t seemed to catch any of his distress calls. Or he was deliberately ignoring them. For once, he would be following the rules. Wasn’t it ironic? There was an unspoken rule in the Time Lords’ community, an unspoken story. They were keeping these hidden because of the shame these superior beings had toward this part of them. The Doctor was called a thief for stealing a type 40 TARDIS, but the truth was that all Time Lord were thieves. They were born with one face and were stealing the eleven others among people they met in their long lives, and when they were regenerating, the face they had taken was sent back to its previous life without any memories of being a Time Lord or Lady for many years. That was why there were so many missing persons, especially on Earth. Humans shapes were easier to steal, made it easier to fit in in the universe with how far they had spread their territory. And they didn’t suspect anything when they came back on Earth. This face belonged to a man named Maxence Spitz. When the Doctor had come across him, he was a young man going through a hard time. He had just lost his best friend and was falling into a dark circle of depression. He made friends with the teenager and kept him in mind when he left. When he had stolen his face, Maxence was in his thirties and was struggling to find a job. He had done lots of small jobs but couldn’t find a career of his own. The Doctor had given him the stars and a heavy weight to carry on his shoulders. He should have forgotten about all of this when he sacrificed himself for Rose. It was underestimating the Bad Wolf. The entity split in three. A part of it went back to the TARDIS, the two others remained stuck in the two humans’ minds. That was a really problematic. His instincts were warning him that telling his real name to this woman wasn’t a good idea. It would be used against him, against his family. He would never let anything happen to his mother and brother, especially with the power now sleeping in his head. He would stick to the Doctor for now, even if that meant staying here for a little longer. He had to contact his family so they could come and see him, and hopefully free him from this hospital. He wouldn’t get out on his own.   “What’s embarrassing?” “This is a trouble I’ve developed when I was a little boy. I had night terrors and was sleepwalking in time of great anxiety. I was never really diagnosed. Mom and I both knew what was causing them.”   It was a lie though it really could have happened to him. His youth hadn’t been one of the best. He shouldn’t be able to remember because of how young he was back then, but he did. There were the cries, and the yells, and the pain. Sometimes, they were coming back to him. But he hadn’t heard them in years. Not the ones of that night. Instead, he had heard the screams haunting the Doctor’s dream and he was forever stuck with them now. There were more pleasant memories thankfully. He would cherish them.   “Alright.”   The doctor Grieve didn’t seem entirely convinced with his explanation but she was accepting it anyway and adding it to the file. His file. He had a medical record in a psychiatric hospital. He would have laughed if he had been able to. It was useless to worsen the situation even more.   “Who’s Rose?” “My ex-girlfriend. She had just dumped me when the police found me. Her mother kicked me out and I was so stunned that I sat down in a corner and cried. Must have fallen asleep after that.” “What’s your name?” “Why do you want to know my name?” “What don’t you want to give me your name?” “I prefer staying anonymous. Let’s stick to ‘the Doctor’ please.” “You’re not making things easy for yourself, you know.” “Yes, I know.” “Enough with bollocks!”   Both the doctor Grieve and the Doctor jumped in surprise when the voice raised out of nowhere. The door was opened with violence and an angry man came. The therapist held herself back from sighing and rolling her eyes upon seeing him while the Doctor froze and stared. It is impossible… And yet, it was. Jeremy Backfire, his father, was standing there, in the threshold. The Wolf felt the confusion and fear and rage rising in its host and feed on it to get some strength back. It hadn’t been in control in the last few days, hadn’t showed up because it wanted him out of this hospital. That wouldn’t happen if it was being visible. Plus, it had been considerably weakened with the loads of energy it spent with his arrival on Earth and his attempt to get to Rose but its host’s negative emotions and the evil aura coming from this newcomer was giving him new strengths and enabled him to rise again. The Doctor got up so fast that it sent the chair to the floor with a loud noise. His eyes had that bright golden glow again. The Wolf was there but he still had control. It didn’t have enough power. It was still channelling, absorbing. It would come out at the right time hopefully.   “There you are,” exulted Jeremy. He turned to Nash, totally unimpressed by the power his son was spreading in the room. “His real name’s Maxence Spitz. He told you the truth about being the Doctor. What you’re witnessing now is the Doctor teaming up with the powerful entity called Bad Wolf.”   Contrarily to Jeremy, Nash was clearly impressed and pretty scared by what she was seeing. An order was given: The Doctor had to be mastered and taken to an isolated cell. Nurses came in. They obviously had been waiting for this order to come. The doctor Grieve didn’t agree with these methods. Jeremy Backfire was her boss. He owned the place and she certainly had nothing to say to him about his way of ruling the place. But this man, Maxence Spitz or the Doctor… whatever he was called, was her patient. It was her duty to protect him and she couldn’t have him thrown into an isolation cell just because she was asked to. She was about to place herself in front of Maxence to stand in the way of the newcomers when the man she was trying to defend moved. He was so swift that she only saw a trail of golden light and then, he was holding one of the nurses with an armlock in her back and was threatening to kill her if Jeremy wasn’t going away. He was using that poor innocent as a human shield. If it had been Nash, it would have worked. But Jeremy only smirked. The Wolf broke the neck of the poor woman and let her body fall to the ground like a puppet. The other nurses stepped back. So did Nash. She was genuinely terrified now.   “You won’t have him,” growled the Wolf. “I won’t let you.”   Maxence Spitz was his host now and the entity would protect him until his death. Which hopefully wouldn’t happen anytime soon. They needed the Doctor to fix this mistake he had made, but he was turning a deaf ear. So Maxence and the Wolf had to team up to survive and protect themselves.   “Take him away. Now.”   The voice was firm. The order was clear. The Wolf wasn’t strong enough at the moment to deal with four nurses and a mad director. It faded away in the middle of the struggle and Maxence was abandoned to the hands of medical people that were dragging him away. Nash tried to protest but Jeremy wouldn’t change his mind. This patient was his now.
To be continued...

We Have to Make This Work
Tom Holland x Reader
Wordcount: 2,151
Contains: Fluff, Tom’s POV
Requested by anon:
Could you write something where Tom holland falls in love with his makeup artist😬💕
Tumblr media
(I couldn’t find the gif of him annoying his MUA lol.  If you have it please hmu!!)
2nd Person POV
“Tom, stop moving around!”
Both of your laughs echoed through the dressing room as you attempted to do Tom’s makeup.  He had spent the last five minutes straight dancing around in his chair to dodge you anytime you approached with your makeup brush.
“I can’t help it (Y/N).  It’s just way to easy to bug you,” Tom managed to get out from between chuckles.
“Okay, but don’t blame me when you go out there looking like a clown,” you teased.
“Okay, okay, I’ll stop!”  He caved, finally sitting still and holding his hands up in mercy.
You were a freelance stylist who was lucky enough to sometimes do Tom’s hair makeup when he was in LA.  Today, you were getting him ready for a morning talk show.
The two of you had been introduced through Zendaya - one of your first celebrity clients, and now good friend.  Tom had complimented her hair and makeup at the Spiderman: Homecoming premier you got to tag along to, and after you jokingly stepped in to tell him it was your masterpiece, the rest was history.
Much like your relationship with Zendaya, your relationship with Tom had transcended work, and turned into a true friendship.  It was to the point where he would give his own stylists days off in LA if they weren’t already busy, just so he had an excuse to hang out with you.  You always felt guilty that he literally had to hire you to spend time in person together, but with his busy schedule doing press and you working at any given time of day or night, it was next to impossible for the two of you to hang out.  When he had a morning free, you were working on a bridal party.  When he had an evening free, you were working on a photoshoot.  He had his commitments, and you had to take any jobs that came your way.  As a result, the two of you had developed a system of spending time together that worked, and that was all that mattered.
However, things were about to change.  You had been offered a position at high-end salon in downtown LA.  It would be a steady job, with a loyal clientele, reasonable hours, and financial security that you didn't have as a freelance artist despite being relatively successful.  But it also meant you would be unable to take freelance gigs anymore. Your heart hurt knowing you wouldn’t be able to see Tom anymore.
You were your happiest around him.  You had never said it out loud, but your feelings for him were more than just friendly.  Somewhere between dealing with his antics, sculpting his curly hair into place, and taming his crooked eyebrow you had fallen in love with him.  For the sake of professionalism and your friendship, you had kept your feelings hidden, convincing yourself he wouldn’t feel the same anyways.
Despite being close, you had failed to tell Tom about your new job.  You knew that he at least enjoyed hanging out with you, and finding the words to tell him that things were about to change proved to be a difficult task.  Since you were starting your new job the following week, tomorrow’s late-night talk show he had scheduled would likely be the last time you would get to work together.
“Looks great, love!  You always do an amazing job,” he vocalized, gently running his hand over his hair as you finished styling it.
“Yea, when you aren’t being annoying,” you jokingly responded, trying not to focus on the fact that this was one of the last times you would get to see him admire your work on himself.
“I better go out to set, but I’ll see you after,” he smiled, hugging you before walking out to the stage he’d conduct the interview from.  It was more quiet than usual, as today’s interview wasn’t in front of a live studio audience.
You watched as he received his mic, and the interview began.  He was always so animated yet eloquent when he spoke.  It was one of the many qualities you loved about him.  After a few minutes, you left him to finish the interview and went back to the makeup station to clean up.
“I’ll tell him tommorrow…” You muttered to yourself.  It had to happen eventually.  And it was probably better to tell him tomorrow and not drag out the awkward goodbye any longer than necessary.
***
Tom’s POV
“You what?” I exclaimed, sure my eyes were so wide it looked like they’d pop out of my head.
“I got a full-time job at a salon.  It’s more secure than being a freelance artist, so I took it.  I think it’s a good opportunity for me...” (Y/N) explained, looking down at the floor.  “But it also means today is the last day I can do your hair and makeup,” she finished, her voice quieter than before.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”  I felt hurt that she didn’t tell me when she found out, but I was sure she had her reasons.
“I just didn’t want either of us to feel sad.  We have so much fun working together, and I know we’ll miss each other.”
“Then I guess we’ll just have to make the most of today,” I suggested, leaning down in the makeup chair and tilting my head up so I could look (Y/N) in the eyes.  I would have given her a hug if I wasn’t confined to the chair.  She giggled at my action, silently agreeing to not let her news keep us down.  Reaching for a makeup brush and my usual foundation, she began to get me ready for the interview.
Why did she have to get another job?  I mean, of course I was happy for her.  I wanted the best for her.  But I’d miss her so much.  I’d be lying to myself if I said I’d never thought about (Y/N) as more than a friend or stylist.  I loved watching her eyes as they focused on me while she worked, feeling her fingertips lightly tap in product to my skin or gently run through my hair, and I especially loved the way she would jokingly smack me and giggle when I acted like an idiot and wouldn’t let her work her magic on me.  She was so beautiful and intelligent too.  Harrison always joked about how my face lit up when I found out I’d get to see her, even if it was still weeks away.  And I could swear my heart skipped a beat when she would text me and her name popped up on my phone.  I guess over the last year, I’d really fallen for her.
Was I an idiot for not telling her how I felt?  Maybe I should have told her from the start.  I just didn’t want to ruin our friendship, and we worked together too!  It would be awkward if she did’t feel the same as me.  But what if she did feel the same and wasn’t telling me because she didn’t think I felt the same?  Maybe I should just tell her.  Otherwise when would I, right?  Plus, if she didn’t feel the way I did, at least we wouldn’t have to see each other for a while.  But what should I say?
“Are you okay?”  (Y/N) asked, bringing me back to reality.  I looked at her as she stared at me curiously.
“What do you mean?”
“You look really deep in thought,” she observed, now working on my hair.  Right.  Trust me to be dumb enough to forget that the girl I loved was staring right at me while I was thinking about her.  I probably looked like an idiot.
“I uh...” I hesitated, unsure of what to say.  I couldn’t just say “yea so, I’m thinking about how to tell you I’m in love with you” out of the blue.  “I’m just thinking about what to say in the interview,” I quickly lied, hoping it would be believable.
“You’ll do great like always!  Just don’t spoil anything,” she laughed.  God I loved her laugh.  “And I just have a few finishing touches and you’ll be good to go!”
I didn’t want her to be done.  I didn’t want to move from the chair in front of her. She meant so much more to me than I’d ever been able to admit to myself or her.  But it couldn’t wait anymore.
“And just some hairspray to set the style...”
2nd Person POV
“All done!”  You exclaimed, clapping you hands together in satisfaction.  “You look hot as ever.”
“You think I’m hot?”  Tom questioned, seemingly more shy than the other times you had complimented him.  It made you blush.
“I was complimenting my work, but don’t act like you don’t know how hot you are Holland,” you joked, trying to distract from your flushed cheeks.
“True... I mean if the things I read on Tumblr are any indication, I must be pretty fine.  Right darling?” he confidently replied, emphasizing the last word.  There was the usual banter-filled Tom you knew and loved - literally.
“Just go do your interview and show off my work loser,” you teased back, not wanting to give in to his immodesty.  “Your fans are waiting for you.”  Their chattering could be heard as the talk show host cut to commercial.
You watched as Tom stepped away to get his mic before turning away to start clearing your things off, knowing you would see Tom again after his interview.  As much as you didn’t want the time to come, you would have to say goodbye to him at some point.  At least you would have more time together later.  Reaching for the bottles of hair product to put them away, you noticed a figure’s reflection in the vanity’s mirror.  Looking up, you met eyes with Tom.  You were so lost in thought, you hadn’t noticed him approach you.
“Before I go out there, I have to tell you something.”  He placed his hands on your shoulders, gentle spinning you around so you were facing him.  With one hand, he took the foundation bottle from your hand and placed it on the vanity behind you, before taking both of your hands in his own.  “I don’t know why I’ve never told you this before, and I’m not sure how to tell you so I’m just going to come out and say it.  I love you.  And I’m devastated that you can’t work with me anymore, even though I’m happy you’ve found a great job.  It’s okay if you don’t feel the same-”
“Thomas Stanley Holland,” you interrupted him before he could continue.  “I do feel the same.  And I don’t know why I’ve never told you either, but at least now we know where we stand,” you beamed at him, causing little crinkles to form by his eyes as his face contorted to grin back at you.  He affectionately squeezed your hands. “Thank you for being the brave one and confessing first Tom.”
“So, does this mean I’ll still get to see you?” He prodded, cheekily raising his eyebrows.
“It won’t be easy, but we’ll find a way.  I refuse to let things end here for us when they’re just getting started.”
Tom released your hands and slung his arms around your waist, pulling you in for a tight hug.  You moved your arms around his shoulders and squeezed him back as hard as you could.
“Darling, I promise we’ll keep in touch, and I’ll do whatever I can to see you when I’m here, or fly you to me when you can get away. Now that everything is out on the table, we have to make this work,” he said encouragingly.
“I love you Tom.  So much,” you appreciatively whispered into his ear.
“I love you too (Y/N),” he gushed, gently stroking your hair.
“You better go now,” you sighed, not wanting to let go.  You loosened your grip on him and leaned back to look into his eyes.  “And you better not let it slip in the interview that you’re in love.  The fans will go wild,” you teased.  The audience could already be heard buzzing with excitement as the host began to introduce Tom.
“You couldn’t just let us have this nice moment, could you?” He whined, jutting his bottom lip out in feigned offence.
“Not a chance Holland.  Now go!  I’ll see you after the interview.”
“I can’t wait!” He said, unexpectedly kissing you on the cheek before heading to the stage and somehow getting through the interview without letting any Marvel or personal secrets slip.
You weren’t sure of what the future had in store for the two of you, but you did know that you loved each other.  And for right now, that was all you needed.
So I guess this isn’t really Tom falling in love with his MUA as much as realizing/confessing his love?  But I hope you still liked it nonetheless!  I haven’t been feeling too creative lately, but I loved this idea so I hope it turned out okay.  Thank you anon for requesting!!  And thank you to anyone who reads/likes/reblogs this!  My requests are open, so feel free to check my guidelines and leave something for me to write :)  And please leave feedback! It really helps~

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About WordPress (But Were Afraid to Ask)
WordPress is the most used CMS across the world today. It has attained the number one position because it is so simple to use and maintain, not only from a designer’s point of view, but also from the end user’s perspective.
In this article, we will look at a few different questions people have about WordPress. Some may seem downright silly, some a little technical, and some questions will be the ones that you yourself always wanted to ask!
How did we come up with the questions?
I simply searched for the term “WordPress” and Google suggested what people usually ask in its “People also ask” section from within the search result page itself.
So, let’s get the basics out of the way before we move on:
How Do I Start Using WordPress?
To create a self-hosted WordPress site you first need to download a copy of the latest version of WordPress.
Once you have the files, you need a place where you can host those digital files securely. You need a location that is always accessible online, a web server. This is going to be the home of your WordPress/Website files.
If you are just starting out, you can buy shared hosting which is relatively inexpensive. And you can move up to a VPS, Dedicated, or Cloud-based solutions as your needs increase with the popularity of your website.
Next, you need to invest in a domain name. It is the address that users will type to access your website.
Usually, both can be purchased through the same hosting company or through different vendors. Once you have these in place, you can easily install WordPress manually or using the famous 5-minute installation.
If you want to host locally on your computer you will need to download XAMPP on your PC or Mac. It will create the environment necessary to run WordPress locally. Usually, WordPress is set up on your localhost for development purposes only.
If that all sounds too complex, then you can simply create your blog or website on WordPress.com. It may be the best option when you are starting out.
Is It Free To Use WordPress?
WordPress is absolutely free to use both for personal and commercial use. As they say on their site:
Beautiful designs, powerful features, and freedom to build anything you want. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.
Though the software itself is free, you will still need associated services to put up a site of your own. And those can cost you money.
These associated services include a domain name, hosting, and the time offered by a WordPress professional to design and maintain your site.
This cost can be minimized by not hiring a designer and rather choosing a theme of your own, either free or paid. And investing in a little time understanding how to use & customize it. (Themes control the layout and design of your WordPress site.)
How Much Does It Cost To Build A WordPress Website?
As I mentioned in the above point, there are some costs that are incidental to setting up a WordPress site. And these include the cost of domain and hosting.
Domain names cost an average of around $10 per year. And hosting can cost you as low as $4 to $5 per month. All in all, it should not cost you more than $100 per year.
The other one-time associated cost lies with designing the site. If you download a free theme and learn to use it and customize it, then you avoid the most significant cost in setting your own site or blog.
Or you can hire a freelancer who can setup and customize your theme for a few hundred dollars. Of course, there is no upper limit to what you can pay a design agency in developing a customized theme for you.
It all depends on what you want to do with your site, and your budget.
How Long Does It Take To Build A WordPress Website?
The answer to this question would depend on the type of website you are building.
If you are just installing WordPress and applying a new theme to a blog and customizing the logo, header, and footer. The whole process could be completed within 4-5 hours’ time.
For a WordPress site, customizations could take longer. As you will have content to be updated for each of the pages too. 10-20 hours should be enough for this task.
If you are building a theme from scratch, I would break it up like this:
Approximately 24-30 hours for designs for the homepage, internal page layout, archive pages, and the blog page.
Coding the theme would take another 40 to 48 hours
For testing and final touches, keep aside 10 more hours.
(If you are building a larger site, it would inevitably take longer.)
Keep in mind that these are only estimates. And when working with a real client these estimates could be stretched beyond your wildest imaginations. No joking here.
What Are The Benefits Of Using WordPress?
There are innumerable benefits to using WordPress over other Content Management Systems. Listing a few of them briefly below:
Easy and intuitive to use: Using WordPress is easy and involves very minimal learning curve if any at all. And if you are a designer or a developer, the same holds true for you too. You will be up and running with the necessary skills to service your clients in no time at all.
Easy to setup: You will be surprised with the fewer steps you need to set it up on your web server or localhost. It usually takes less than 5 minutes to do this.
Lightweight and speedy: WordPress is lightweight right out of the box. It is around a 10MB download when you first download it from WordPress.org site. And therefore, very easy to handle in terms of uploading it to your server, backing it up, moving from one server to another, it occupies less space, runs faster etc.
Highly scalable: With the right infrastructure and resources you can scale it up to several hundreds and thousands of users at the same time. So, no surprise that some of the most used sites like TechCrunch, The New Yorker, Sony Music, Time Inc, and many other significant names use WordPress.
Most popular CMS: When it comes to its popularity, it is the number one. Today it powers 32% of all sites on the internet. This far exceeds the market share of any other CMS available today.
Easily add features and functionality: WordPress can be easily extended to add more features and functionality as per your need. And you can do that easily with the help of plugins without knowing how to program or code in WordPress. Plugins are bits of software that can be easily installed on your existing WordPress site to add additional features and functionality.
The other advantages of using WordPress include a thriving WordPress community, active development of the product, free software (also for commercial use), easy to find answers to your WordPress questions, active support through community Forum, a mature and stable product etc. The list of advantages goes on and on.
How Do Beginner Blogs Make Money?
I doubt that you would start making money as soon as you start a blog. If you are just starting out, then, of course, there is a long way to go for you.
The process of generating income from your blogs would generally be in this sequence:
First, you would have to start a blog. You buy a domain and hosting and install WordPress. You choose WordPress as it is the best blogging platform out there. Then you choose a theme of your liking and your blog is ready.
But a blog is not a blog unless you have some useful content there. So, you have some niche or demographics that you want to cater to. That is a good strategy because then you would know exactly what type of content you want to create. Ideally one should focus on creating content that solves some problems and helps change the lives of your audience for the better.
Next step would be to get your content in front of your audience. Sharing on social media, engaging with your audience, a bit of on-page optimization, a bit of SEO, and lots of time and patience.
Once your blog starts to become popular. When the readership increases with time, it is time to start monetizing now. Monetization could be in the form of advertisements, AdSense from Google, affiliate marketing etc.
It is not easy. But nothing worthwhile in life ever is, right? It takes a lot of hard work, learning, and patience to create a sustainable income stream from your online blog. But it is totally doable if you are up for it.
Do I Need Hosting For WordPress?
All websites need hosting to be accessible over the internet. Therefore, yes you need hosting for WordPress.
If you sign up for a blog or a website at WordPress.com, then the hosting is already configured for you. You don’t have to buy your own hosting separately. You simply register a subdomain with them as part of the signup process and start treating it as your own blog or website.
However, for the self-hosted option, you need to download the WordPress files from the WordPress.org site. You are more in control of your website with this option, and therefore, you are responsible for everything that is needed to run your website.
And that includes Hosting.
Is WordPress A Website Builder?
WordPress is not a website builder. It is a Content Management System (CMS).
Website builders are more like visual editors. You drag and drop an element on a page, and you can see exactly how the page is going to look. While with WordPress the design is already set. The theme you have chosen for the site will control the appearance and layout of the site.
With a site builder, you expect to be able to change the site design as you deem fit. But with a WordPress site, this expectation is not there. It is understood that the design is already in place. You focus more on the content part of it, i.e. adding and editing content on the site.
Site builders are easier to use in terms of design changes, but site builders are less flexible in terms of what they can accomplish. WordPress, on the other hand, is very flexible and can be extended in many ways to add more features and functionality through programming & plugins.
However, if you like the idea of the convenience of a site builder, you might enjoy WordPress’ latest innovation: Gutenberg. Gutenberg is a completely new way to design WordPress sites, along the lines of a site builder.
Is WordPress Good For SEO?
It is indeed the most SEO friendly CMS out there today. It takes care of so much of the SEO stuff just out of the box that you don’t really need to be an expert to create SEO friendly pages and posts on your blog. They are automatically created for you.
For example, it creates pretty permalinks for all posts and pages. It also gives you the option to manually alter the URL yourself, so you are in full control. When you have a meaningful URL, both humans and bots can understand better what the page is all about.
Image resizing and optimization is also handled by WordPress. It takes care of URL canonicalization and other necessary HTML markups so that you won’t have to worry about them.
It would also generate a page title automatically for you. However, there are numerous SEO plugins that you can install that can handle this process in a smoother way.
All in all, WordPress today is one of the best SEO friendly Content Management Systems out there.
Final Thoughts
In this article, I have answered many of the questions that people frequently ask on WordPress. As you know, it is an overwhelmingly popular CMS and people have many questions about it.
Did I answer your question? I hope so. If not, then feel free to ask them in the comments below. I look forward to answering them for you.

Know that I only recommend products, tools, services and resources I’ve personally used and believe are genuinely helpful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to purchase them. These work from home writing and editing jobs range from technical to creative, and beginner-friendly to expertise-required—let’s dig in.1. CopywritingIsn’t everything technically copywriting, you ask? Well, yes, good point. You should write an article about that.A work from home copywriting job is at the top of the list because you can flex your writing skills, differentiate yourself by becoming an expert in what you’re interested in, and constantly learn new things. Think about how much written word the worldwide web has to offer: every company’s landing page, descriptions of every product sold, articles about how to tie a sailor’s knot, think-pieces on why you should make your own cheese. You can be a part of that, and get paid for it too.For more actionable strategies on growing a copywriting practice, check out my friend Rob’s $5,000 Freelance Challenge here on the blog.2. GhostwritingFor a lot of people, writing doesn’t come naturally. They know what they want to say, but they’re not sure how to say it; they know what they’re trying to communicate with their brand, but they don’t know how to translate it to a powerful message. Even if someone is a pretty good writer, they may just not have the time and would rather delegate it to someone–like you!By ghostwriting, you won’t have your name attached to it (although you can usually still use it in your portfolio), but you’ll get to take on the personality of whomever you’re writing for and communicate their vision. As far as work from home jobs go, this one can be pretty sweet.3. Freelance JournalistBelieve it or not, a degree in journalism is no longer a requirement to be a journalist, especially doing it as a work from home job—get started by digging into my guide to starting a freelance business. If there’s a local story that has caught your eye, consider investigating it and working with a local news organization to publish it—compensation varies, from paying for the article to paying based on how much ad revenue it brings in. If you grew up on Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys and never quite let that detective dream go (Law and Order, anyone?) consider trying your hand at writing up news articles. And if you’re interested in more freelance writing-based opportunities, check out my list of the best freelance jobs where I dive much deeper into the specific websites that are best for freelancers… in particular Flexjobs, SolidGigs and Journalism Jobs.4. Starting Your Own BlogIf writing articles about what other people want you to write about sounds like a drag, what about writing about whatever the heck you want to write about? To put it simply, start your own blog.Blogging can be an incredible work from home job. With some effort and persistence, it can really rake in a serious return over time. Here are the essential steps of making blogging a work from home job for yourself:Learn how to start a blogChoose a domain name (through a hosting company like Bluehost) and build your blogMonetize your blog—usually through a combination of subscribers, sponsors and affiliate dealsSwan dive into a comically large pile of money (not really 😊)Jokes aside, choosing to build my blog (the website you’re reading this article on), was a decision that’s completely changed my life. I’ve created my own work from home job where I can now put in a relatively low amount of effort and still reliably earn anywhere from $7,000 – $20,000 in monthly side income regardless the amount of work I put in on a given month.More on how to build your blog and lay the foundation for future growth in my ultimate guide to starting a blog, and through my free in-depth course about growing your blog.Want my Free Course: How to Build a Blog in 7 Days?Enter your name and email below and you'll get instant access to my course that's been featured on Forbes, Business Insider and Entrepreneur.5. Writing ReviewsHere’s the thing: everyone wants to know what other people thought of a product or service before they buy in, but no one wants to take the time to write those reviews after they bought the thing or went to the place. Believe it or not, this is a work from home job opportunity for you. There are sites you can sign up on that will pay you for writing reviews—which vary from leaving reviews on other sites to taking a survey about a brand and reviewing their product—but either way, a work from home job writing reviews is an easy way to make a quick buck. A few sites that fall under this category are Swagbucks, Modern Mom, and Influence Central, but (as always) make sure to do your research and ensure that it’s worth your time.6. Writing Greeting CardsHave you ever been on the hunt for an awesome, unique card for someone special and just couldn’t find what you wanted? Or maybe you prefer blank cards because you know you write better than anything that’s on the cards in the store? Well, consider a work from home job writing greeting cards!Blue Mountain Arts is always looking for writers that can dazzle them with original content. This is more than your average “you’re the light of my eye and every wish come true” drivel – this is creative, unique, clever, heartfelt, meaningful writing. If you can pull it off, you’ll get $300 for your efforts.7. Editing and ProofreadingIf mistakes make you unable to enjoy what you’re reading, and misplaced apostrophes drive you crazy, editing or proofreading is the perfect work from home job for you. Get paid to make all the grammar gaffs of the world disappear! This mostly requires a keen eye, and while a related degree helps, building up a portfolio will help you prove yourself just the same. Try the major job boards for any basic editing or proofreading gigs to get started.8. Edit Academic EssaysThis editing work is a little more specialized, and will require some more specific knowledge of academic writing rules – make yourself an expert in MLA, APA, or Chicago and you’ll find yourself in the perfect niche to rescue desperate college students. A work from home job editing academic essays is the perfect gig, because there is a never-ending market of customers.Additionally: if you have an academic background above undergrad, target grad students. After looking over their thesis or dissertation for the 800th time, they will pay big money to hand it over to you.9. Edit College Admission EssaysHave you ever met a parent dying to get their amazing, unique, totally special child into their dream college? How much do you think they’ll pay you to increase that kid’s chances?Applying for college is stressful to the max these days, and parents will gladly pay you to look over their child’s essay and edit it to be perfect. If you have any sort of background working in college admissions, this is an amazing work from home job for you, but even if you don’t it’s not that hard to brush up on what colleges are looking for.10. Enter Naming/Slogan Contests“Ah, Coffee House,” you think, as you walk by a café. “How original. I could come up with a better name than that.”Well, you should!Tons of entrepreneurs and business owners need a little creative help with the naming and slogan-creating process. They have the idea, but they need someone to come up with the perfect name or tagline to capture what they have in mind. Check out the big job boards for postings, but also pay a visit to name or slogan contest-specific websites, like Naming Force or Slogan Slinger. As work from home jobs go, this one is pretty fun and creatively rewarding.Work From Home Jobs in Developing or CodingThe internet—it’s as much a part of our daily lives as eating, breathing, and hitting the snooze button in the morning. You could be one of the many people working from home to make the stuff on the web come to life.11. Web DevelopmentIf you have any sort of web development skills, you have to know that you’re in high-demand – maybe you’re already working a job that incorporates those skills, or you’re trying to get your first big-time web developer position. Why not take a look at all the work from home jobs using those skills?Additionally, if you feel like your skills aren’t quite up to snuff, you can take online classes and take simpler jobs to supplement your income and also build your portfolio. Win-win!12. App DevelopmentHow many apps do you have on your phone right now? My guess is a lot. An app to see when the bus is coming, to see what the weather is like, to see what your Aunt Brenda has been up to. Why not look into a work from home job developing those apps? This has two areas you could go into: coming up with the actual business idea or writing the code itself (or both if you’re a high achiever like that). If your idea is good, you stand a chance at making a lot of money.13. Software DeveloperIf you’ve ever stopped to think about how much software is in our day-to-day lives, it’s kind of mind-blowing. If you’ve ever stopped to think about a work from home job creating that software, I have good news for you: that’s a great way to make money online. If you now how to build software, you can work for anyone from a small startup to a huge corporation, usually with lots of freedom and on your own hours to boot, making it the perfect work from home opportunity.Work From Home Jobs That Take Creative AbilityWhether you have an eye for design, you’re good with your hands, or you can combine technical knowledge with either one, there are a lot of work from home jobs where you can put those creative skills to good use.14. Web DesignDoing web design can be a fulfilling and fun work from home job for anyone who is both creative and technically minded – there is no rule saying you can’t be both! Anyone who has been on a website that is so horribly designed it’s essentially unusable (I feel like that applied to a lot of sites in the early 2000’s) knows how important a web designer is, and as content saturates the internet, websites with good design stand out above the crowd. By working from home, you can work on your own time and take on any clients you want.15. Graphic DesignFor anyone with a good eye for color and design, a work from home job as a graphic designer can hit all the right notes – freedom, comfort, and creativity (and, you know, paying rent). The possibilities run in a lot of directions: you can sell your own original prints on Etsy or other marketplace platforms, you can pick up freelance jobs on major freelance sites, and you can even approach startups and small business owners to see if they need design help. Plus as an added bonus, you may even pick up a piece or two of business advice along the way.16. PhotographyI know what you’re thinking, don’t you have to leave the house to make money as a photographer? Therefore, making this incorrect? My answer is absolutely not, I would never lie to you like that. There are, in fact, lots of ways you can make money with a work from home job as a photographer (but don’t let me stop you from leaving the house if you want to). Creative product photo shoots, interior design photography, portrait photography, even food photography can be done from the comfort of your own home – or if you do feel like getting out of the house, family and wedding photography really rakes in the cash. So sit your butt down on that couch and start making that portfolio.17. Sell Your CraftsHandmade gifts and crafts are really having a moment, and you should get in on it! Whether it’s knitted pants, hammered copper luggage tags, or lamps made from birch trees (I just made all those up but they’re probably a thing), you’ll likely find a market for it. Work from home jobs don’t have to mean always sitting at your computer – try sitting in front of your knitting needles instead.Word to the wise, though, keep track of how many hours it takes you to make each item and how much you’re spending on supplies to ensure that you’re making a profit.18. Design T-shirtsDesigning t-shirts takes a special blend of design, creativity, originality, and trend knowledge. The best t-shirt designs will not only look good, but let the wearer declare something about themselves for the world to see – if you’re up to the challenge, this can be one of the best work from home jobs there is. Once you design it, as long as people keep buying it, you keep making money without having to do any more work. Shops like Redbubble will allow you to get your design printed on just about anything, while Teespring focuses just on t-shirts.Work From Home Jobs In Marketing, Virtual Assistance and SalesWhether you start your own or help someone with theirs, you’ll find plenty of work from home job opportunities with some business know-how.19. Online T-shirt BusinessInstead of submitting designs to websites who will sell them for a cut of your profits, try getting in on the production as a business you can start on the side of your day job. This is the type of work from home job that will take quite a bit of work upfront, but can be very rewarding down the line. You can set up a print shop in a spare room of your house to start, sell on Etsy or local shows, and grow it from there.20. Marketing ConsultantYou know what sells and you have a passion for helping others reach their business dreams – being a marketing consultant could be right up your alley (especially if you have a knack for driving traffic to a website). Consulting is one of the best kinds of work from home jobs, as you can create whatever schedule you want for yourself and take on as many or as few clients as you can handle. To get started, try reaching out to local businesses that you feel could be doing a better job marketing, whether it’s getting started on the right platforms, improving their copy, or doing outreach.21. Social Media ManagerSpeaking of things that businesses are in dire need of, managing social media accounts can be a great work from home job. All the content is online anyway, and if you know what type of strategy the business should be using, you can help them avoid alienating their young audience by trying too hard to relate, for example.22. Virtual AssistantFind a busy businessperson who wishes they had about three different clones of themselves to get all their work done, and you’ve found yourself an amazing work from home job. Virtual assistants can do everything from answer phone calls, to schedule appointments, respond to emails and send cold emails on behalf of your client. You can help them out from the comfort of your home and get paid for (usually) fairly simple work. Not a bad gig!23. SEO ConsultantSearch engine optimization: the oxygen of every website on the internet. Optimizing a site for search engines can make or break a business, as everyone uses the internet to find just about everything these days. Work from home jobs helping businesses navigate these new waters are in high supply, so brush up on your SEO knowledge and start putting yourself out there. These days, knowing about search engine optimization is the golden ticket, and small businesses are usually in dire need of understanding how they can rank higher in Google’s search results.24. Remote SalesA work from home job in sales can be the perfect job, but only for the right kind of person. There are two options here: either get hired by a company to sell for a set amount per hour, which is a steady guarantee of income, or get hired as a commission-only salesperson, which has the potential to make it big... as long as you're using the right CRM, that is.If you work based on commission, setting your hours can be great, but keep track of how much you end up earning to see if it’s really worth your time (making a hundred bucks is great, but not if it took twenty hours to make it). To get started, try looking for startups that are working on expanding and converting customers.25. Customer ServiceNo matter how good those little chat bots get that pop up when you visit a website, at the end of the day, companies will always need human customer service. However, what they don’t need is an office full of workers – a lot of companies are happy to contract work from home customer service freelancers to do the same work out of the office environment. You can check out the big job boards, join an agency, or even try to market yourself on your own.26. Project ManagementGet involved with a business or company from the logistics side with a work from home job as a project manager – if you’re organized and have a knack for keeping people and their projects on track, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Again, you can check the big job boards, but you might have better luck reaching out to local businesses or startups that are in major growth mode and could use your help.27. Data EntryThis work from home job is great, because it doesn’t take a lot of skill other than being mildly perfectionist and a quick typist. This is a common job for companies to outsource, but fair warning: the pay is not always very high. To make sure you’re getting paid fairly for your time, try looking for companies that are only looking for workers based in the U.S., or join a U.S.-based agency.28. Data AnalysisBut what does it mean? Companies often collect a lot of data, but if they can’t decipher it, it’s totally useless – and that’s where you come in. This does require some expertise, but if you’re good with numbers, look into taking a class or getting a certificate that you can show to prove your skills. Also, once you get some experience under your belt and build up a portfolio, you’ll find plenty of companies on job boards like Upwork and Freelancer that would love you to take their business to the next level.Work From Home Jobs In Audio and VideoGot a camera, microphone or editing skills? Put them to use!29. Create Video ContentIf you’ve browsed Facebook for more than two seconds, you know that text content is out and video content is in – and that’s only a slight exaggeration. People love everything from recipe videos to cute animals to pimple popping (apparently), and even news outlets are producing short, subtitled videos.Get in on this content train by working from home producing videos! You could product your own recipe videos, for example, with simple kitchen tools and an eye for an aesthetically pleasing setup.30. Video EditorVery few people who make videos enjoy editing them – and if you know how, this is an ideal work from home job. Learning how to edit videos is the perfect behind-the-scenes skill, because the people recording content want to spend more time recording more content, not cutting down the raw footage and editing it into a high-quality video. All it takes is some software and some practice!31. Teach an Online CourseTeaching others can be rewarding and fun, but a bit limited when you have to be in person, in a classroom. But what if you had something you taught and recorded just once, and people all over the world could pay to watch it anywhere, any time? This makes the list of amazing work from home jobs because this is the kind of project that requires mostly an upfront commitment to producing good content, and then makes the money for you over time.32. Start a YouTube ChannelThe YouTube channel market is a bit saturated these days, but that just means that people are looking for better, and more specialized content. If you have a specific set of skills or knowledge, consider leveraging that into a YouTube channel – you’ll make some money from ads, but the big money comes in from sponsorships, so focus on providing value and growing your subscriber list.33. Start a PodcastGot something to say that you think people will want to hear? Try a work from home job producing a podcast! For me, I found that people wanted to hear about how to turn their side hustle into a profitable, full-time business. I’ve done that, and so have a lot of other people. I decided to start a podcast interviewing these people and talking to them about their side hustle, and called it The Side Hustle Project. If you have a hobby you’re passionate about, or a subject you know a lot about, start telling people about it.34. Voice ActingForget having a face for radio, you might have the voice for it! If you have a clear voice, unaccented, and easy to understand, you have the perfect skill for voice acting. Authors of the best business books and even companies need voice actors for all sorts of things, from audiobooks to training videos—if that sounds fun, this could be the perfect work from home job for you.Work From Home Jobs in Professional ServicesDo you know stuff? Teach other people that stuff, or use that stuff you know to do stuff for other people. Simple. There are tons of work from home job opportunities putting those skills to use.35. Online CoachThink big on this one: what are you passionate about? What can you help people with? Instead of starting a channel or teaching a course, try doing one-on-one coaching. As long as you know exactly how you can help someone, and you set up a measurable plan together of how you can help them improve, this could be a really fun and rewarding work from home job.36. Online College CounselorIf you have any knowledge about how to “hack” college – admissions, financial aid, or extracurriculars – this could be the perfect work from home job for you. Instead of working for a school, you could offer your services online and fill in high school students (and their parents) on what they should be doing to get into their dream program.37. Accounting or BookkeepingI guarantee that upwards of 80% of entrepreneurs and small business owners have no idea how to do their own accounting, and have no interest in learning. That’s where you come in! Many companies now make that job available to people like you to do from the comfort of your couch. If you have a certificate or degree related to accounting, this could be the perfect work from home job opportunity for you.38. Tax PreparationThis is obviously more of a seasonal work from home job, as you can count on having basically no social life from February until April. However, you can also try and get some bigger clients that file quarterly so you have more work year-round. This is the perfect work from home job if you have the know-how, because your skills are in incredibly high demand from all the people who don’t.39. Online NotaryThis is definitely one of the easiest work from home jobs you can do once you have all your paperwork in order. People need notary publics for all kinds of important legal documents, for everything from estates to business agreements. Check out what it takes to become a notary public, and offer your services online!40. Online Personal TrainerGet paid to be at home and encourage other people to work out and be healthy – if you’re a closet gym rat and know a bit about personal training, this could be the perfect work from home job for you. While many personal trainers freelance at specific gyms, working from home and offering online personal training can be the perfect solution for anyone who doesn’t have easy access to a gym, an easy schedule, or wants specialized training.41. TranslatorIf you speak another language, this is one of the best and most profitable skills you can have. As the world gets smaller and we seek to understand each other better, you can have a work from home job facilitating that understanding.Work From Home Jobs For Your Inner EntrepreneurEasier said than done, but if you’ve been harboring entrepreneurial dreams, try looking into how feasible they are to achieve working from home.42. Launch up a StartupThis one can appear deceptively easy—vague enough to seem easy to jump into, but as any entrepreneur will tell you, takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. However, you can actually get a start on that idea you’ve always wanted to make into a reality working from home – do research, validate your idea, and get in contact with people who can make it happen. What have you been dreaming about?43. Start an eCommerce BusinessSimilar to the above, setting up a business selling things is not easy, but a great work from home job. As an example, my best friend and I ran a phone case business that started as a work from home side hustle, and grew into a full-time company. We sold our phone cases on Etsy initially, but you can sell your eCommerce product everywhere from Amazon Handmade to trade shows, depending on what it is. If you want to know more about starting a phone case business, check out my tips here.Work From Home Jobs Related to Flipping (Buying and Selling)Think you have a good eye for value – and more importantly, when someone is undervaluing something? Try buying and re-selling for profit. It’s risky but the payoff can be huge.44. Buy and Sell Domain NamesWhile the bigger, more obvious ones are already taken, buying domains can still payoff big if you have a keen eye for future trends. This is the perfect work from home job because it takes research, patience, and will never make you enough money to become your full-time job, but can payoff in smaller amounts.45. Buy and Sell Entire WebsitesThis is kind of like virtual house-flipping - you’re trying to find that perfect diamond-in-the-rough website that is being under-utilized and could make some big money if revamped. This takes a keen eye and knowledge of what makes money on the internet in the current landscape. Websites are bought and sold all the time, but of course not all of them succeed, so proceed with caution.46. Sell Your Own StuffFrom books to clothes to collectibles, you could be sitting on a windfall in your very own home. It’s kind of a human tendency to be a bit of a hoarder, holding on to things we think we’ll use, we thought we’d like, or that we can’t be bothered to give away. But what if it was your job?Consider a work from home job selling your old junk. It’s like getting paid to do spring cleaning! Do some research to find out what you have that might be worth some money, take nice photos, and put them up for sale on an appropriate marketplace (got some weird tiny sunglasses an Instagram influencer would die for? Try Depop).47. Buy and Re-Sell Other People's StuffBut what about when you run out of stuff?Get more stuff! In all seriousness, learning how to find gems at thrift stores and garage sales can be an adventure in and of themselves (although it does mean you actually have to leave the house, sorry), or you can hunt around on eBay. Either way, working from home to buy and re-sell can be a pretty fun way to make some extra cash.Work From Home Jobs in Coaching, Teaching and AdvisingThink you need a teaching degree to teach anyone anything? Think again.48. Teach Music OnlineIf you only knew how many people regret quitting learning a musical instrument when they were kids. There are just as many adults wanting to re-learn an instrument as there are parents trying to get their kid to learn – you can teach them both! This has to be one of the best work from home jobs, because you get to do something you love, get paid top dollar for it, and not really have to leave your couch.49. Teach English OnlineI’m assuming if you made it down here you speak English, so why not work from home teaching other people?
