A Question about MaxTul !!!

I hear you’re abit of a fan??

SO, please can I ask what your fave Maxtul scenes are that they have done across their shows!!!

Also, do you think we will get them in something again?

Anon, once again, you are not to blame for Tul's departure from acting. This is on me. I put all my eggs kidneys in the Transplant (Manner of Death x Triage) basket.

I am a huge fan of MaxTul, and as the saying goes, I'd rather have had witnessed their amazing chemistry than have never known them at all. I'm straight clownin' but I'm going to still hope for them to star in Transplant for as long as I live. It could happen thirty years from now when Tul retires from his career in real estate and development. I can wait like that woman in Titanic. It doesn't matter when I get it as long as I get it. Are you listening, Tul?

To your ask - I enjoy every MaxTul scene, but since you are making me pick favorites (what is with y'all forcing me to choose between all the things I love?!) . . .

Top Ten MaxTul Scenes

#10 - PRIDE - MaxTul

This is the only actual MaxTul propaganda I will regularly tote out that has nothing to do with a series because it isn't even from a show. It's just them being them. In 2021, they released a handful of photos for Pride, and I love them for it.

#9 - Club Kiss - Manner of Death

The way the lights dance around them while Tan holds Bun's neck as their heads align with each other is beautiful. The director created magic with that shot and my shitty GIF does not do it justice.

#8 - Confession - Together With Me

Before Pat whispered "no" on that rooftop in Bad Buddy, and Win told Team to "be brave about it" in Between Us, Korn asked Knock if "the love I have for you, doesn't it give you courage? Courage to love a man like me?" and I haven't left that bedroom since. That's some Grey's Anatomy level of line delivery, and it hit me straight in my heart where it still resides six years later.

#7 - Rain & Umbrellas - Together With Me

I doubt Knock and Korn did the "comfort the other person under the protection of an umbrella while it rains" trope first, but they did it the best, and now every time I see it in a BL, my heart grows a little more each time.

#6 - "You smell so good" - Manner of Death

This is actually parallel scenes, but they are my favorites because in the first scene, Tan told Bun he smelled good, yet Bun quickly walked away in disgust. The next time it happened, Bun told Tan he smelled good right after they broke into a truck to steal a laptop, and in the midst of that adrenaline rushing through their bodies, Tan did not hesitate to take Bun's confession as an invitation, and sexed his man up ALL NIGHT! Blessed.

#5 - Getting caught - Together With Me: The Next Chapter

Knock and Korn finally got back together and were doing what they do best - BEING VERS! - when surprise surprise, their friends were chilling outside watching them figure out their next position move. Their friends were checking up on them after their big blowout, but instead their friends got to see them blow each other's backs out. Blessed times two.

#4 - Not getting caught - Manner of Death

Tan and Bun had to get out of the hospital before the police caught them, so the entire hospital staff helped them escape on a gurney because ACAB! But even in their dire situation, Tan was still flirting with Bun and trying to make a move on him to much of Bun's frustration. No matter the time or place, Tan proved he wanted his man, carnally.

#3 - Engagement - Bad Romance

First off, Bad Romance aired before Together with Me, but timeline-wise actually happens between Together with Me and Together with Me: The Next Chapter, yet in reality IT MAKES NO SENSE.

The boys were color-coded in this series (and lightly in the other two), and the attached image is their color exchange. Yep, that's right! Korn (Max) is the Blue Boy and Knock (Tul) is the Red Rascal, and Knock lived up to that label in Bad Romance. Knock wanted to be out, and Korn had to be in the closet, then Knock kissed another dude, yet all ended with Korn proposing to Knock in front of all their friends (while wearing pink!). A mess, but it is my beloved mess!

#2 - Wedding - Manner of Death

I did not think we would get a happy ending out of Manner of Death. When shots were fired in the tenth episode, I was screaming! And yet the boys not only survived everything they went through, THEY GOT MARRIED! Thailand has not legalized marriage equality yet, so for the whole team to say "Fuck it! We gonna do it anyway" in 2020 was the rainbow sprinkles on top of this bomb-ass sundae of a series!

#1 - Husbands - Triage

This one-minute cameo wins. This is my everything, and I will cling to forever regardless if my clown ass gets Transplant or not. We saw the boys get together as Knock x Korn in Together With Me. We watched them get engaged in Bad Romance. We witnessed them fall apart and come back together in Together with Me: The Next Chapter. We got to see them grow up and get married as Tan x Bun in Manner of Death. And we celebrated them as HUSBANDS in Triage.

So if Triage really was MaxTul's final outing together, I'm glad I got to go along for the entire journey, from the chaotic beginnings of a drunken one-night stand to the grand finale of committed husbands. The boys gave us a hell of a ride (pun intended).

The Auror Question

I would like to talk for a minute about Ch 18 of LTL, and the ethical implications of a werewolf dating an Auror. If you haven't read the chapter and would like to avoid spoilers, come back after. <3

For those who are reading this meta without having read my work, I do not tiptoe around this subject in LTL: I grab it by the throat. This entire point is something that I have been building towards since Ch 7 (incidentally, around the time I actually started to plot the story out properly lol.) And it's basically THE moment of character development for Dora in LTL. Her moment of crisis. The turning point of her character arc. So in Ch 7, you get the following:

Remus details why he's not going to have any luck swinging the werewolves and all the threats they face (himself included)

The Order very clearly Does Not Get It

Dora defends Remus and takes the rest of the Order to task for effectively dehumanizing him

And that's the point where Remus finally goes "yes, okay, I'm in" and starts the relationship with her. Because he sees that she sees him as an actual person and is willing to try. Which is huge for him. (Ya boi's bar is LOW okay?)

Dora is still very idealistic in the beginning: she's still a fairly fresh Auror and isn't as well-versed in How Things Work as, say, Kingsley and Moody are. So she's got it in her head that this is something that can be quickly and easily fixed, and she's just gotta be patient and work at it from the inside, and Remus can see that she really believes that. It's... endearing, in the beginning. But by this point in the story, he's really beginning to struggle to reconcile his feelings for Dora vs Auror Tonks. Their relationship is under clear duress, and they've been fighting a LOT, despite how much they've come to love each other. If she had continued trying to "both-sides" it, they would have eventually hit a breaking point, and Remus likely would have put a stop to things -- he does actually have an amount of self-respect in this story, appearances aside.

There are several major points that begin hacking away at this pillar of her belief system leading into Ch 18:

Lyall in Ch 11-12 (just... Lyall.)

The confrontations with both Draco and Umbridge in Ch 13. (The Draco one was So Small but also So Big.)

The hearing and how it was handled in Ch15-16

The general public response, and the mail bomb in Ch 17.

The way that Remus responds to all of the above.

Every bit of information is like a battering ram: she cannot ignore it. She cannot rationalize it or explain it away. This is more than just a few assholes. This is systemic. And Remus had been trying to tell her that and she was hearing him but not really understanding. It was so far out of the scope of her personal experience that she couldn't wrap her mind around it fully. Like, she thought she understood. But she didn't, not really. She's only beginning to understand as she and Remus continue weaving their lives together.

However, Dora hit a crossroads the moment that Scrimgeour confirmed that the law she'd sworn to uphold did not protect Remus -- in fact, quite the opposite. And that if she wanted to continue to uphold the law, she would be co-signing the idea that her partner was not only subhuman, but that he was "deserving of death." There would be no concessions made. So she follows her conscience, and she divorces herself emotionally and morally from the Department. She is preparing an exit strategy when she is suddenly forced to stay due to Bones' assignment -- if she didn't, it would have put Remus and Sirius' lives in immediate danger. But she's still shaken and questioning everything (I mean if she's staying NOW, maybe she should just try to stick it out?) until the moment that Lyall accosts her, and THAT is when she breaks. She chooses, and she chooses Remus -- immediately and unequivocally.

It is a MONUMENTAL move on her part, and it came from months of pressure building, of cracks appearing and then growing. And best of all: it gives some validity to Remus and his (normally very good) ability to read people. He trusts Dora, despite her occupation, and she's finally showing that she's deserving of that trust. She has now divorced herself morally and emotionally from the Department, which was really the biggest sticking point with Remus (he doesn't really give too much of a shit where she's getting her paycheck from, as he understands where her skillset is. Her options are fairly slim unless she gets into an entirely different field -- but that's a discussion for later.)

Overall, this entire chapter was a bit of a come-to-Jesus moment for Dora, and when given the choice between doing what was right and what was easy, she chose what was right at every turn, taking Remus and Sirius' safety into account with EVERYTHING she was doing. It is probably the strongest reminder that I can give my readers that her mother is a Black, born and raised, and Dora learned a lot from her. (How to play with knives, for instance.)

Definitely going to have some fun moving into the next phase of the story. :)

So on one hand. I do want this.

On the other hand, I am white as fuck. And while I support y'all I do not have the expertise to handle that one. There was a time when I didn't hate bikers. I had no problem with motorcycles. Thought they were cool.

Dreamed of a hot biker girlfriend.

Used to listen to "Cool Rider" from Grease 2 and daydream.

Hell, there used to be a chapter of Hell's Angels down the street who would party every weekend but they were actually considerate and wouldn't be a nuisance. Plus their presence made my street safer.

And then they left.

And then a new biker club moved across the street from my house. AND THEY'RE COPS

And they just sit in front of their building and rev their goddamn engines. And throw parties that last until 5am sometimes.

And I can't call the cops on them to shut it down. THEY ARE THE COPS

When the cops are called, a patrol car comes. Blasts their siren. Says what's up and leaves.

Do y'all understand that I want the Hell's Angels criminals back instead of these annoying police officers?

NOT TO FUCKING MENTION while my aunt and her family were staying in the first floor apartment of my house, they came home one day to these fuckers.

Coming back with some Ever After High kids!! Got all my Little Mermaid kids in the first two pictures (none of whom are white, all of whom say black lives matter and acab), then two kids for Katie Woodencloak (a Norwegian fairytale similar to Cinderella but with more elements of a persecuted heroine story). From left to right, first picture to third, we have:

Circe Cecaelia, daughter of the Sea Witch. She's a scientist through and through, always wanting to improve the science of potions and spells in her dormroom lab!

Arion Neptune, son of the Little Mermaid. After years of repression in a misguided attempt to save the people he loves from being hurt, after Legacy Day he decided he was coming out (hah) of his shell and he's doin' just fine. A leader in the Rebel movement, he's fighting for change in the destiny system and encouraging everyone to follow their hearts and write their own destinies!

Myrtil Starboard, the next Prince from the Little Mermaid. Initially on bad terms with Arion due to differences in ideology (and a fist fight that landed them in detention), Myrtil has recently come to terms with his internalized feelings of fear and low self-esteem that's left him more on the side of the Rebels. He still believes that every role is needed for the stories to work properly, but he agrees that it's high time that some of these stories get a rewrite, preferably with less death.

Tempis Courtly, the next Temple Girl. Similar to Myrtil, she's fought with herself over her stance as a Royal or a Rebel, but after Way Too Wonderland she's decided to embrace changing up her tale, and her newly-realized identity of being polyamorous! She's happily in a relationship with Myrtil and Karina (mentioned below).

Aleksandr Lichtenson, the next Prince I Katie Woodencloak. A fun, rebellious guy, he's looking to find his own chapter in his story and change the whole "choosing a partner based on a shoe" thing. He's friends with Karina but she's more like a sister to him, and anyways he's got his eye on a certain Eagle from The Crystal Ball...

Karina Cedarcape, daughter of Katie Woodencloak. She's an actress through and through, and she's done hiding behind her mother's curtain. She's writing her own destiny as an actress and a future queen, and is happily planning to spend her ever after with Myrtil and Tempis by her side. She's planning an allyship with Aleks' kingdom since she doesn't really want to marry him.

so a slight clarification just to understand how off the deep end I originally went back in 2020 when I wrote the first draft of this post: back then I obtained three separate translations of this book (all ebooks) because I wanted the Rose translation and originally couldn't get it but then did but by then I was already reading the Signet version b/c I heard it wasn't too bad and then at one point I was comparing the versions trying to decide which one to stick with?

I didn't get into all this for the sake of comedy but then yanno y'all found my post that I expected 5 people to read. Long story short I dropped all that this year, am sticking to the Rose version and now have footnotes, but I'm still confused, Victor!!!! your "we didn't start the fire" chapter is still off the rails my dude!! let's go back to the ACAB shit I like that!!!
