Odysseus's mom's verse in The Underworld literally fills me with indescribable sadness. It's a hint at a life before, that Ithaca is more than Penelope and Telemachus. It's a moment of real vulnerability, of something he didn't even know he would have a chance to loose. His mom.
I really hope she remains mentioned in Aphrodite's God's Games. She doesn't bring up Penelope, she brings up his mother's pure love for him and confirms she died of grief waiting for him. Odysseus loosing Polities and the others to the cyclops is the level of grief his mother spent years coping with.
Then bouncing back to The Underworld as you remember, His Mom's verse comes RIGHT after Polities's. In the moment he's truly feeling the grief for his friend, he's faced with knowing that's exactly what his mother felt for him and died from without any resolution.
honestly. yes yes hozier and mitski are some of my favorite song writers ever. but i don't think anything is going to top the emotional reaction the lines
"el sacrificio de mis padres, los zapatos de charol"
from fito páez's mariposa tecknicolor brings out in me.
Play the melody of a soul without reason, under my command, a person not of the human world, he chanted under Isaac's approving gaze, and the words spoke back to him as well, for he knew that he did not belong in the human world, and he had wasted so many years of his life believing that he was one of them.
There's this really amazing scene between him and Clara in the kitchen after they find out if she's pregnant or not. At first it's a bit funny too but then it gets just so raw and sad. You see it at the end of the trailer where they're sliding down on the floor. I think that's the best scene between them so far. Apart from Peter and Clara, my other favorite so far has been the family one-Glen, Clara and Aaron in the house, late in the night. That was the third episode. Great scene between family. Hugo Weaving is amazing as always but I gotta say Bob takes it to another level this season too. He's doing a great job and I hope he's praised for it. There's so many emotions happening there, so much confusion, you can just put yourself in his shoes and you realize how honest his reaction is, at least to me, to everything. Other than that, the show has kept it's humor from season 1, it made me cackle up more than once and at the same time the moment in which things switch from funny to sad kind of snaps something at you. I think that's maybe the director's fault (in a good way) and though it's a different one from season 1 I believe that is because season 2 is much more serious and they've definitely captured the atmosphere of the mess that is the characters' lives.
Season 2 so far feels like you watch them go through one of those really heavy moments in life where things aren't just bad but they get worse with each day and you don't think it'll end. It's very honest, at least to me.
get yourself someone so devoted and determined to save you that they would willingly abandon their morals without any hesitation and do whatever it takes to bring you back even if it means literally bleeding their own life into your very bones
