Is one of the gayest fucking lines of television I’ve heard in my life.

Even if the presence of the song itself somehow wasn’t a flashing spotlight enough, the literal voice of God directly draws attention to it. Telling us that in universe, a nightingale really is in fact singing in Barkley square, and to know its music is sweet regardless of if we can hear it. Just like there are really in fact angels (one fallen but we’ll let it slide) dining at the ritz, and they’ve been falling in love regardless of if they’ve been allowed to openly pursue that feeling.

And hell, maybe it’s BECAUSE of the traffic that the nightingale finally sings. Perhaps it wasn’t ready until it was sure no one else could listen.

"Dark Beginnings" brings up something that was likely implied before but I never considered, which is that Shadow didn't share Maria's fascination with Earth.

Maria would often tell Shadow about Earth's beauty but he never returned the enthusiasm, he only cared about curing his sister. Besides, the ARK was all he had ever known.

So of course Shadow's disinterest towards Earth turns into hatred after the GUN incident, and his revenge is only stopped thanks to Maria's memory. Even in the present, you could argue Shadow doesn't care for Earth very much.

#Shadow is so goal-oriented because he was literally made to achieve one specific goal #so he didn't care much about Earth. Saving Maria was the only thing that mattered #Maria was likely aware and tried to help distract Shadow and teach him to enjoy the beauty and other pleasures of life #But Shadow never changed in that regard. We all hate Uther, but I have to admit, the scene in “The Beauty and The Beast, pt.2”, where the troll gifts Uther dung over the council table, has to be one of the most hilarious moments of those two episodes.
